The next day, when I said I would meet Lance to find out his motives, I threw up as soon as I saw his face because I was so nervous.

"Why are you so scared of me, child?" Lance asked. It felt like I was in some kind of nightmare loop.

"I don't want to talk about that," I said as I wiped my mouth. "I need to know why you killed Grayson." Lance frowned.

"I didn't kill Grayson," Lance said, "I mean, sure, I watched him die, but I was under the forbidden spell that turns you into a puppet." I frowned.

"But why are you looking for him so anxiously?" I asked.

"Who are you to even ask that of me?" Lance asked.

"What if I said that I was Grayson?" I asked. Lance scoffed.

"He would never become a girl," Lance said, "He's afraid of them." Did he remember more about me than I did?

"But just think about the possibility," I said, "Because if I'm not him, then how do I know that you have a mole on your upper thigh?" I just realized what I said without thinking... Did I have a relationship with this man? My face felt warm all of a sudden.

"Only he knows that..." Lance said, "But what else do you know about me?"

"Your sister turned into a werewolf, so you killed her," I said as the memories popped up, "You hate vegetables even though your family was one of the farmers. You broke your leg playing tag when we were six. You were known as the werewolf killer. You hate coffee with a passion. And you grind your teeth in your sleep when you're in a bad mood." Lance put his hand on the back of his head.

"You sure you're not just a stalker?" Lance asked.

"I'm an eleven-year-old muggle born," I said, "Why would I know so much about a man from overseas so well if I'm not Grayson?" Lance sighed.

"Go clean that vomit off you," Lance said. We'll talk when you're clean." I went to the girl's bathroom and washed up quickly, only to find Lance outside of it waiting for me. "Good, you're clean. Come with me." Lance dragged me over to an empty room. "I'm looking for Grayson to tell him the truth of what happened that day. So, do you want to hear it or not?"

"I want to," I said.

"I woke up to a strange sound like someone was rummaging through our things," Lance said. "But you were asleep next to me, so it couldn't have been you. I didn't want to wake you, but I was quite alarmed. The person who cursed you with the soul-binding spell was the one who used the imperius curse against me. It was Michael Hudson. He and his group of friends had somehow made it to our camp and used the imperius curse against all six of us just to watch you die and laugh about it. I don't know why he had such a grudge against you. There's nothing wrong with being a boy who likes boys... But um... I guess that's changed since you're a girl now."

"Is he still alive?" I asked.

"Of course," Lance said, "I locked him and his friends up as soon as the curse was broken but gave them a potion that would make sure they would not die until we're ready to kill them, or I should say until you're ready to kill them."

"Why would I kill them?" I asked.

"Because they plotted your murder," Lance said.

"Lance, there was never a time when I wanted to kill," I said, "Not even once, but this stupid soul of mine always gets me into trouble, and I'm forced to. If I didn't have 'the savior's spell,' I would be an ordinary wizard... I mean witch. But that doesn't matter at this point, as there is no one I have to go up against. I just want a peaceful life. Is that too hard?"

"I guess," Lance said, "But Michael is the only one who knows how to break the soul-binding spell on you. It causes magical attacks."

"So, take me to him," I said.

"I can't at the moment, Miss Montgomery," Lance said, "The school year has only just begun."

"Okay, I'll go mess around with my new boy until you're ready," I said. Lance made a strange face as if he felt awkward about being my ex.

"Don't do anything stupid," Lance said, "You are a girl now."

"Thanks for the advice, Lance," I said, "But I'm an idiot, so I probably will forget." Lance looked away. Lance mumbled something. I walked out the door to see Tom standing there anxiously waiting. We started walking away and I cast a spell that would make sure that only Tom and I could hear each other.

"Is everything okay?" Tom asked.

"He knows who cursed me, but won't take me to him yet," I said.

"Can you take me with you when you go meet this man?" Tom asked, "I didn't feel comfortable waiting for you today, since it seemed like you knew that man a little too well."

"Tom, I really appreciate the thought," I said, "But if you come with me, you'd become even more tangled up in my messes. I don't think that's a good idea." Tom looked slightly offended.

"And what's the matter with that?" Tom asked, "I thought that you trusted me." I sighed.

"Tom, I don't think we need you to have a target on your back as well," I said, "It's bad enough when I'm deemed a problem child just because of my personality. You don't have to stay by my side, you have every opportunity to make friends aside from me. I just refuse to because of the potential of being killed by my friends again."

"I also refuse to make other friends if you feel that way, Alice," Tom said. I mentally rolled my eyes.

"Tom, I don't want to lose you," I said, "That's why I said you can't come with me." Tom stopped walking, so I did too.

"You think I'm not strong enough?" Tom asked.

"You know that's not what I meant," I said. Tom pushed me up against the wall.

"You think you know so much about me," Tom said, "But you seem to have forgotten that we're equals. I'm not someone you have to protect. It's funny that a little girl like you think she has to protect a boy like me. Do you remember what happened when we first met?"

"Yes," I said, "You tried to attack me with magic and I nullified it."

"That's not what I meant," Tom said.

"Oh, the whole thing where you were the boss of the orphanage," I said, "But that was only because you used magic on muggles and scared them with bird corpses."

"I never used bird corpses," Tom said. I chuckled.

"Yeah, I know," I said
