Chapter 34: Red Star Part 2
As the heroes and the secondary team all regroup after they met this supposed attacker was actually a victim in all of this. As they had a decent little perch to overlook the camp as scouting it out was vignlante with jinny and red-x as they were looking over it humming was the cowboy who saw the defenses of the place as he didn't really recognize the people here in these hazmat suits or the logo of theirs as close by the captain stood their
"How it looking over here"Captain adam asked as the man sighed for a moment
"Lot of firepower for just a simple little nuclear science team because you kids got anything yet"viganlante asked as doing some research on these thugs was charmcaster with a holo display up as searching the web through a backup phone just for this was wraith as she did she had nothing
"I got nothing on these guys right now"wraith replied
"Same here for us because right now i'm surprised that their even here. And to hear that you are a test subject of their"charmcaster said having a small sense of deju vu with this teen as it was sort of like conner in a way but jinx sighed
"Well right now were just sitting here while they uh mess with his sister"jinx said finding that weird as leonid growled at the mere thought of it as red-x eyed them for a brief moment before speaking
"Actually the guys name is professor chang an old researcher that worked on special programs back in the ninites and eighties for the russian and chinese government. "Red-x said as they eyed him for a moment
"And how do you know that?"revenant asked as the thief rubbed his neck as jinny called him out
"You mean how you were trying to hide when he was their. You hiding something from us buddy"jinny asked shoving him in the chest as he put his hands up as the leaguers shared looks on that possible mole right now as sighing was the thief
"Well i gotta get my supplier somehow and now risk him finding out i'm a good guy now"red-x said as they all shared looks for a moment on how he had phrased that
"Supplier for what? You working with villains secretly now because i think we gotta tell bats we found our mole"Viganlante said as that why he didn't wanna say this but had to
"What do you think this suit runs on?"red-x asked as they shared look
"What does that have to do with anything right now? Your probably a spy like kaldur heard about"wraith stated but crossing their arms was the captain who noticed something lately as he got some reports from them on the day those kids went missing as he eyed the boy
"Actaully hes making a good point i've read the reports on you kids to see if you've improved or not. But you've hardly used those gadgets of yours their dense and useful enough to take down a heavy hitter like that clone of superman. Does this have to do with it"captain adam deduced as he was right
"Well seems the grunt is smart who knew. My suit runs on a component that the professor sold me to run it had enough in stock for years to keep it running. Didn't realize that i was almost out recently and i can't risk my safehouse being seen by you all"Red-x said
"Really because why would we even believe that"jinx replied as crossing their arms was revenant
"Whats this component called"he asked
"Zynothium"red-x answered startling the old leaguers for a moment to hear that was a compound in the suit
"Your…thats a highly dangerous material if exposed to anything flamable it could spell disaster and blow up anything and anyone near them"charmcaster said startling them hes carrying a nuke around in his suit
"Your wearing a nuke for a suit?!"wraith shouted almost but it wasn't like that
"Its not that hazardous if you use it in low dosages the amount i need could power this thing for a month or two tops even for a small vial of it. Besides professor chang is a great guy when hes not experimenting on people for the league of assassin"red-x said giving them a group that might be doing this right now
"Are you speaking of the strange men in pajamas"leonid asked as they shared looks
"So the ones responsible for this is the league of assassin explains the sighting of black spider in the area along with them having interest in explosives my assumption is their making bombs here or….new combatants"revenannt replied eyeing the place as crossing their arms coming up with a plan was the captain
"Heres the plan all of you remain here and revenant keep an eye on the kids to make sure they don't get involved"captain adam ordered to their shock
"But we can help the others sent us here to help you out"jinny argued as he eyed them for a moment
"Right now i don't trust one of you and i'm still suspicious of a possible mole now. In my report i'm including it which means that someone might be restricted from missions for a long time"captain adam said as the thief scoffed at him but sticking up for them was charcmaster
"Adam they are willing to fight for what is right we need all the help we can get. Besides…a child is in danger you know the risk of those people using children for their weapons. "Charmcaster said as the man eyed him but eyeing the camp right now was leonoid hearing how they would hold them back while they do the work but the boy will rescue his sister
The russian growled getting up before he bent down suddenly jumping as high as he could launching snow up they watched as the boy jumped on the ground before jumping again to their shock as they saw him going into the fray
"Oh hes going for it….were doomed"jinx said as laughing was revenant as the tattoos glowed on his body charging up a jump himself
"Then lets join him kiddios stick to your buddie"revenant said leaping forward at incriedble heights as they all ran in as the captain growled sprinting forward taking flight
The guards did their rounds around the place as they did soon enough suddenly one of them flinched as screaming punching them in the jaw sending them to the ground was leonid getting the full base on alert
"The subject is here! We have the subject in sight full alert!"a scientist said as one rushed over slamming a button as the alarms began to go off all over the place as on a nearby observation platform watching over the creature in the tube was the professor and black spider with the mysterious man who looked at leonid punching and screaming his way through the base
"Guess your little science experiments brother is here"black spider said
"Deal with him i shall load it up for transport to test her destructive capitialites."chang said as the two rushed off with the assassin standing their narrowing his eyes looking for one target now
In the middle of the base right now leonid was going off as he punched a grunt to the ground with an assassin coming in from behind swinging a sword over him as he did it shattered on impact sending shards everywhere all over the place. As they where startled but the russian screamed punching them in the jaw dislocating it as they fell to the ground as he growled out in anger now
"You will all pay for hurting my sister!"leonid shouted in rage as one took aim with a rocket launcher hoping this works as they did suddenly a gunshot rang out hitting them in the shoulder as running in firing off shot after shot was viganlante who spun his revovlers around as he took aim at his targets
The gunslingers began to fan the hammer quickly firing shot after shot incaptaing all the foes around him. He shot one in the leg taking them out as he fired another with a bullet laced in eletrcity that shocked one of the guards. As he fired off another shot toward two of them as it blinked before denating expanding as like green arrow he aint the only one with trick projectiles as laughing was red-x who spun kicked down a grunt knocking them out
"Seems someone got trick bullet"red-x said as vigilante dodged a strike from a guard baton as he swiftly spun his revolvers aroudn cracking them in the back before he used his other revolver to knock them out with the grip as they fell into the snow groaning
"Keep up you sticky fingers thief"viganlante said firing off some shots
As sliding into cover was jinny who took out her lever action rifle taking aim at the guards exhaling for a moment before firing off a few shots to get their attention as it did with several of the guards going on a nearby catwalk set up in the snow as they opened fire onto her as they did sharing a look with jinx the cowgirl whistles to her
"Through some bad luck their way"jinny called out as the girl nodded
Focusing on the location where they where jinx had some pratice on handling her powers as she slowly moved her hands growling for a moment before snapping them. As the guard kept laying down covering fire soon enough one of the bolts on the scaffolding gave out underneath them as they all fell to the ground screaming from the catwalk falling out underneath them
As the snow began to clear that was kicked up it revealed all of them groaning in pain on the ground as laughing was charmcaster
"Nice job kiddio you'll be a witch in no time"Charmcaster said
"Its not magic its just badluck"jinx replied as the witch themed heroine smiled before snapping her fingers summing something two purple hazy knights as she snapped them again sending them forward to take down some of the guards non lethal as she was into summoning her help and casting it
Though close by tag teaming some baddies with her mentor was wraith who swiftly kicked down a guard as revenant powers had activated. A glow came off his body as a humanoid figure with a cheetah head growled as he smashed his fist together as his feet seemed to shimmer before he took off at a blinding sprint
The man began to punch and knock out the enemies around them in an instance leaving a white powder in his tracks. As he sped across a building wall to sucker punch an assassin to the ground knocking them out while deliah was busy herself
The teen dodged a high kick from a thug as she used her training to grab their leg yanking them forward as they stumbled straight into her knuckles clocking them in the face. They landed on the ground groaning in pain as she panted for a moment finding this to just be simply amazing right now as she smiled a little
Though that little smile was cut short as suddenly a web was launched at her sticking to her shoulder but that web was familiar as it enraged her it was red web. Looking to the culprit it was black spider laughing under his mask
"Lookie here is that oh its the little wannabe hero from that night with oswald you look different. Love the outfit"black spider taunted as she growled with the haze coming off her fist which reveannt noticed
"Kid take a chill pill now"revenant warned but wraith growled for what he did to her friend richie as a flash of that night played in her mind. The mere thought of him crippling one of her friends as he growled screaming launching a hazy blast toward the assassin who saw it coming like it was nothing leaping onto the snow
Black spider recovered quickly as he laughed at the attempt on his life crossing his arms for a moment having some news
"Don't be too mad at me darling besides someone else wants to be your dance partner"black spider said confusing her before gunshots rang out almost hitting her in the leg but she dodged it looking up flinching as the mysterious assassin stood their eyeing them down but her especially as he laughed
"Seems i'm meeting someone from the past you grew up"the assassin said as she never met him before but that voice sounded familiar like the man from the memory from early
"Who…who are you"she asked as revenant recognzied him
"Lookie here seems someone from the good old merc business is here. Haven't seen you in a while"revenant asked like he knew him as the assassin scoffed aiming a pistol toward the heros head
"You shoudl remeber me since i'm the best merc my dads ever had. Along with being his favorite son"The assassin said as black spider sighed
"Come on now bloodhound be orginal and just kill em"Black spider said firing his webs at revenant to get his attention as he did the hero fought the nimble spider themed assassin off while wraith met with bloodhound who eyed her for a moment before he bolted off which confused her but she growled chasing after him to fight him for running like a coward
Meanwhile with red-x he was split kicking a few mercs down to the ground as running over toward chang was leonid who screamed punching the weak old man to the ground as he cried in pain with the russian boy getting ontop of him growling
"You shall pay for hurting my sister!"leonid shouted in rage but pulling him off was the thief as the professor recognized him
"Ah my lovely favorite buyer your here i ….wait why are you here i didn't send for you"chang said but flying over as he fired a blast of energy to take down a couple thugs nonlethal was the captain who stared at the professor then at the board noticing something it was starting to count down for something from the look of it
"What did you do"the captain asked as the professor smiled for a moment
"Ah you see we make very rare things the power this one and that one posses are quite rare….but uh how do you say she will go boom soon"chang said startling the three as the mercs where on a tactical retreat getting into some keeps and such as kicking back revenant was black spider laughing hearing the beeping now from their little surprise
"Seems the surprise is gonna go off oh well be seeing yah. Try not to beg for mercy now"black spider firing a web off to make his escape as he did some of the mercs did as the merc fired a web retrieving the professor as the container with the creature in it was screaming in pain pounding on the glass as a red energy was being launched into it as it seemed to be chagrin the creature up from the energy
Leonid saw this running off the edge running to the glass pounding on it with a scared look on his face
"Misha! Sister please hear me!?"leonid begged as the creature thrashed around in the tube as running to the console scanning it was vigilante
"I aint no nuclear scientist but this thing will blow up in mere seconds if we don't do anything about it"the cowboy warned but having an idea immediately was red-x
"Hold up hes made of nuclear power right"red-x asked pointing at the captain of the group
"Whats your point theirs a nuke pretty much and were gonna be caught in the blast"jinny replied but the army soilder got what he meant walking over toward the glass cocking his fist back he punch the glass shattering it as the creature didn't attack him as he had an idea
"Get clear of the area now i'm gonna move her to a safe distance"captain adam warned as they began to run but jinx noticed someone missing
"Wheres wraith?"jinx asked
"Wasn't she with you"Chramcaster asked as revenant looked around seeing some footprints as he guessed where she was taking off to find her
Early just five minutes ago wraith chased down that bloodhound assassin who was actually kicking her butt pretty bad. As bloodhound kicked her straight in the jaw sending her into a tree as she coughed and gasped for a moment shocked how good of a fighter he was. As she picked herself up he didn't give her a break as he cocked his fist back before clocking her in the jaw sending her to the ground again making her spit minor blood up from her mouth as she coughed and hacked on the ground panting in pain for a moment
As the assassin stood their panting with the cold making his breath visible he reached around as he seemed he was ready to kill her but something else happened. Suddenly he pulled a radio off his belt before crushing it to her confusion
"What..don't want your friends to hear you kill me"wraith taunted picking herself up but the man laughed for a moment before saying something
"I can't believe your alive"bloodhound said confusing her for a moment why he said that right now
"What?"wraith asked as the assassin reached for his mask suddenly doing something he removed his mask to reveal his face that being a man from the looks of it with him having a scar on his right cheek as his hair was snow white like hers as he had black colored eyes but he looked to be smiling to see her
"I..i can't believe it…my little sister is some dumb hero…mom must be proud"bloodhound said confusing her for a brief moment being called that as her head felt a sharp pain again making her slowly cry in pain as she clutched it
Expecting him to just kil her for an easy hit the man walked over placing a hand on her head gently rubbing it for a moment before her headache settled down as she stared at him for a moment confused now
"Why are you doing this"she asked confused still prepared to defend herself if need be but the man smiled a little at her
"Because i'm your brother who took you out for icecram remember when our jerk of a father decided to just ditch us and junk along with beating us. You look so old..haven't seen you since you where a kid"the man said as she stared at him confused but shoved him away as she was scared to hear him call her and say those things to her
"I…i…your a murderer…your a murderer…get away from me"wraith said but the man put his hands up to not seem like a threat
"Not by choice our pops is a stonecold killer don't follow his rules your dead weight. Right now i just wanna talk why do you think i got rid of my radio it got bugged by the league besides…i just wanna talk to my sister and maybe give her something for a little meeting"the man said before pulling something slowly out from his back that being a small communicator like device as he slide it over toward her in the snow
As it got close hesitantly deliah picked it up to see it was something that being a calling card attached to a small transmitter as she eyed him for a moment not buying this
"How can i trust you"wraith asked as he eyed her for that she was smart
"Your smart for thinking that don't worry that little thing is just a transmitter activate it and we can talk. Besides i like to help my sister after that prick black spider attacked her…psycho deserves to be put in jail for that."the man said getting up slipping his mask back on eyeing her for a moment before he turned his back on her
"Keep in touch with me"he said running away as he did wraith sat their processing this for a long moment before running over from the woods was her mentor
"Kid your okay thought i lost you where that psycho go"revenant asked but if on instinct deliah hide the transmitter and card in her suits pouches as she rubbed her face for a brief moment
"He bolted where are the others"She asked before they heard a booming sound looking up to the skies they saw a large explosion go off as it did they rushed back to the others
Regrouping quickly they all watched as flying from the skies above was the captain as something was missing the creature as in his arms was a girl who was maybe fourteen with bright blonde hair and fair skin along with being in a pair of worn down looking patient rags and clothes as the man set her down grunting slightly as it startled them
"Whoa is that…the monster"jinx asked but leonid bent down hugging the girl in his arms crying a little
"Misha you are safe my sister…you are safe thank you"leonid said as it seemed some things happened between them after some times the league had sent some of their leaguers here as they completed their own mission in the united states as they regroups with green arrow and batman talking to them along with robin and kaldur getting a report from both teams
"So you say you ran into a man here that was running experiments on thse two. Both in league with the assassins"kaldur asked as nodding was captain adam standing far back with the two russian siblings as they where a little nuclear right now after taking high doses of rads
"Where just relieved we stopped the nuke from going off here they turned her into some monster seems that was a build up of nuclear energy in her system"captain adam said as batman crossed his arms eyeing them for a moment before sharing a look with green arrow who smirked at him
"You two kids got somewhere you can go"green arrow asked
"Nyet our uh parents are dead the village will not take us but i can take responsibility for my sisters attack and serve her time for the people she hurt. It would be best if we are both locked up to keep those safe from our powers we could hurt someone"leonid said as their was a moment of pause as the dark knight didn't bother showing it but he could respect someone that knew the risk of their powers as he eyed the captain who stared at him
"Batman i know what you thinking but its not happening"captain adam said
Mount justice november 12th
In the hall of the cave at this moment the team where just excited to have served with the justice league themselves for a special mission. Though some where surprised to have something another new member that being leonid who was in something rather different a pair of olive colored jeans with a black turtleneck on as he sported a simple pair of gloves on his hands that seemed very thick as it seemed to be of a strange material as some where shocked to have a walking nuke for a teammate
"So we have a walking nuke on the team now"wally said as eyeing him was artemis
"Sorry for him he has a big mouth"Artemis replied as he took it the wrong way
"But his mouth looks normal does he have powers to make it bigger"leonid questioned making them share looks as laughing a little was zatana at that little jab at the speedster who frowned though sighing for a brief moment was kaldur walking over offering a hand to their russian ally who flinched backing up
"Is something wrong"kaldur questioned
"no..no i am afraid of touching anyone or anything since my body is well…."leonid said but that was what his new clothes are for as walking forward was hamilton with him dusting his hands off
"Well those clothes that are made of the same material like the captains will insult it. Along with the installation of that chamber to help control your powers for the time being till we find a way to minimize its nuclear potential is being made now. Go ahead shake someone hand"hamilton replied
Their was a brief moment of pause for a moment before the russian shook the boys hand before him as the boy looked shocked to feel someone hand again after so many years it seems as he couldn't help but smile a little right now with a grin on his face
"I…i feel warmth i…i can touch another person"leonid said
"And phrasing is out of the window i'm heading to bed early tonight"deliah said as they all celebrated right now for the new teammate they had on their team as red-x seemed happy not that he got a power supply for his suit but he was given some news when he got back here that little girl he cared for is in treatment for her heart transplant and it was a complete success making him think about this place as he sort of started to like these folks around him now
As deliah swiftly made her way into her room once their she made sure the door was locked as she sat against the door. Slowly she pulled out the transmitter in her hand eyeing it with a curious look wondering how her life may be changing for the better or the worse in the future scaring her who her father really is and if he is coming for her.
It seems that closes the end for this mission as the team have a new member called redstar who is a DC orginal. But their seems to be this mysterious man who tells deliah hes her brother and wants to hold onto a card incase she ever wants to speak to him. Thanks for reading!
