Beacon Academy, Vale

Chaos had erupted with Penny's televised death. Beacon had become a battleground overrun with Grimm, rogue Atlesian Knights, and the White Fang all threatening to destroy the academy. The sun had set with many parts of the once pristine institution lit by the fires that were seemingly everywhere.

Blake and Weiss were at the fairgrounds when the enemy had made their move. In an instant, they were racing through the grounds fighting anything that sought the destruction of their school.

"Gyahhh!"

The last of the White Fang the duo had engaged with was finally defeated. However, there was no time to rejoice as an infected Atlesian Paladin attacked Atlas soldiers, swatting them like flies.

"Come on!" Weiss proclaimed but before either them could assist, the pair noticed a crash landing Bullhead that spat out an Alpha Beowolf which then proceeded to chase after some fleeing civilians it had caught sight of.

The Faunus girl exchanged one last look with the rapier wielder and the two parted ways.

"Be safe", Weiss advised.

As the white haired girl headed to stop the virus ridden machine from her home kingdom, Blake gave chase to the armored Grimm.

"Gotta make sure no one gets hurt," the monochrome clad girl thought as she attempted to locate the beast. She found the Beowolf scaling the ruined cafeteria and jumped off onto the roof. Blake was however interrupted when she heard a yell from the destroyed interior.

"Arrgghh!"

The cat girl turned with her fists clenched, but quickly became horrified, her eyes widening in appalment, when she saw what was inside.

As the Atlas soldier was thrown to the ground, his opponent came into view. A face Blake thought she would never see again, not in Beacon of all places.

Standing amongst the burning wreckage of their once impeccable cafeteria, clad in black and red, possessing horns, and wearing a mask resembling the very bane of humanity, Adam Taurus looked every ounce of the devil he was.

"No...Adam?"

"Hello, Blake."

Adam grinned creepily. Hearing him speak brought another wave of terror to the girl. That her former partner REALLY WAS HERE and leading the invasion.

...No. No, no, no. NO. How can he be here?! Why? It was Blake's nightmare come true. Her past coming to roost and hurt the people she had come to know and care about.

More than anything, it was Blake's confirmation that her brother truly was part of the White Fang's recent increasingly destructive behavior.

In hindsight, all signs pointed to Adam's involvement. His appointed branch of the White Fang was working with Torchwick. His gargantuan lieutenant was on the train in Mountain Glenn.

Even so, attacking one of the huntsmen academies was a level of extremism that the Belladonna girl never thought her brother would even consider. Yet here he was, reveling in the destruction and death he had wrought on her new home.

The black haired girl could only stare in horror, backing away slowly. A move that hadn't gone unnoticed by the menacing figure.

"Running away again? Is that what you've become, my dear sister? A coward?" Adam sneered.

"Why are you doing this?" Blake's voice was shaky.

"You and I were going to change the world, remember? We were destined to light the fires of revolution!"

Adam stomped on a downed Atlas student. His foot firmly planted in the boy's chest.

"Consider this the spark." Wilt was drawn and was about to be stabbed downwards.

Gambol Shroud was unsheathed as it's owner dashed forward to clash with her sword bearing sibling. Her face now full of intensity. A sharp clang resonated as black metal met red.

"I'm...not...running." Blake declared.

"...You will."

Blake kept pushing her weapon forward but suddenly felt Adam's leg press quickly forward, kicking her away a good distance. In her disoriented state, she hadn't noticed the Creep that was suddenly upon her.

In an instant, the Grimm was shot and disposed of. Confused, Blake turned to see Blush's barrel smoking.

"But not before you've answered for your transgression, sister," Adam remarked. Smiling the bullheaded brother walked forward.

Blake immediately shot out her whip towards Adam who sidestepped to dodge and close the distance. Gambol Shroud fired, sending the whip recoiling backwards. Her brother sidestepped again, allowing Blake time to grab hold of her weapon.

The swordswoman brought the fight to close quarters. Slashing forward with her blade and her sheath. Adam responded by bumping one arm up and deflecting her sword with Wilt. Blake stowed away her sheath and slashed forward with Gambol Shroud.

The bull blocked again with Blush and grabbed hold of her right arm. He quickly did the same with Blake's other arm and instantly headbutted her. She saw stars for a couple moments as the impact sent her staggering backwards and she fell onto the wrecked floor.

Blake's redheaded brother loomed over her and derided her.

"This could've been our day! Can't you see that?!"

Blake cried out, "I never wanted this! I wanted peace! I wanted equality!"

Blake raised Gambol Shroud which shifted into sickle mode. Bullets sprayed forth, each blocked by Blush again.

"What you want is impossible!" Her partner sheathed his blade and backhanded his sister, knocking her over.

Adam raised his voice, "Our dream is finally within reach! Everything we fought for we will soon reap!"

Blake began to raise her weapon again only for her former partner to kick it nearby, disarming her.

"And as I set out upon this world and deliver the justice mankind so greatly deserves, you will come to regret your choice to abandon our path!"

Adam kneeled down to his sister and regarded her, "But...you can begin your path to redemption now."

Blake stared up at the man she had grown up with, fought alongside with, and ran from. Her eyes scrutinized him with guarded terror.

"...What?"

"You're my only family, so I am willing to extend an olive branch," the redhead expounded. He paused and began again.

"Tell me where Weiss Schnee is. Once she's taken care of, I will call back my forces and the White Fang will leave Beacon."

...

Blake couldn't believe her ears.

"What? Why?! Why go after her?!"

"Isn't it obvious?!" Adam growled, "She's set to inherit the SDC. She's the heiress to the worst of humanity! Her death will bring more for all Faunus kind than killing any of these wretched humans will!"

Blake looked at Adam with trepidation at his ultimatum. Especially with how he worded it.

"...Did you do all this, invade Vale, attack Beacon...just so you could kill one person?"

Adam paused.

"...I had hoped to kill Winter Schnee as well. But she was already transferred out of Vale."

Revulsion bubbled up within Blake to such an extent she thought it would ooze out of her. Adam had agreed to attack one of the major institutions and defenses against the Grimm...just to murder one girl? A girl who was only the same as age as herself?

"You're on the same team as her, right?" Adam continued, "I would've thought you would've done it yourself...No matter. Just tell me her location and this can all be over."

Blake's breath was unsteady.

"You're insane if you think I'll let you kill one of my friends."

Adam's glee disappeared and it was evident with his grin falling. He took a deep breath and regarded his sister with finality.

"I expected better from you...You've betrayed me, betrayed the White Fang, betrayed your race," the elder sibling reviled.

"If you refuse to give me what I want, I'll just have to cut down every last man, woman, and child in this school until I find her!"

"Blake! Where are you?!"

A third voice caught the siblings' attention. Blake turned neck and to see Yang just outside the building looking for her in confusion.

She can't be here. What was she doing here? Had Weiss pointed Yang in her direction? She had to leave. Blake couldn't afford her current partner getting involved in a confrontation with her former-

"Starting with her."

Adam had apparently noticed Blake's panic upon seeing Yang and decided to make an example.

The blonde brawler's head snapped around when she heard gunshots from within. Blake had scrambled to retrieve Gambol Shroud and fired more shots at Adam. Each round were sadly again all blocked.

Yang turned around just in time to see a faunus with horns unsheathe a sword and slam the pommel powerfully into her friend's head causing Blake to collapse. The mere sight causing her rage to flare up.

"GET AWAY FROM HER!"

Blake reached out towards her teammate, whispering, "No...please..."

Yang activated her semblance and charged forward with a cry. The masked man was going to pay and-

Suddenly everything felt cold.

Blake watched helplessly as Adam lunged forward with his semblance charged up. With a single slash, the full force of Moonslice broke through Yang's aura, and sliced through sinew and bone, severing the blonde's right arm. She landed on the floor with a thud.

As Adam slowly treaded towards the incapacitated girl looking no worse for wear himself, he swung his blade to the side to flick off the blood. However, the masked Faunus then witnessed his sister jump in front of the completely still human, trying to block his path.

The current White Fang member regarded the deserter. Did these humans really mean that much to her? More than the White Fang? More than her family?! He felt his anger and bewilderment rise until he noticed the familiar inanimation.

"I know that's not really you."

Adam kicked the lifeless clone and it dissipated into shadows. Amongst the crackling fires around him, he heard footsteps and turned with a frown just in time to see his sister desperately carrying the human girl away.

The swordsman slowly walked out of the building, effortlessly cutting down an attacking Creep.

"Another day then," Adam thought, "you're just as stubborn as I am. But I won't ever stop in my pursuit."
