DM Lucy Goes Ice Cream Crazy Chapter 3
''Good news Lucy'' he said, ''You don't have a temperature''. Lucy breathed Lucy breathed a sigh of relief. Then she and Gru heard voices downstairs, Dru and the girls were saying goodbye to Jillian and Jessica as they left for home. Gru went to see Dru and the girls. ''Dad? How's Mom?'' Margo asked anxiously. ''She's resting in bed Margo'' Gru replied. ''Can I see her please?'' Margo begged, ''I have something for her''. ''If she's awake'' said Gru, ''But if she's asleep, den let her sleep, she needs all the rest she can get''. Margo went upstairs to check, she saw that Lucy was still awake from having heard her come home so she went in to see her mom. ''Hi Mom'' said Margo. ''Oh hello Margo'' replied Lucy, ''How was tea with Jillian and Jessica?''. ''It was great Mom'' said Margo, ''Jillian and Jessica make a super auntie and cousin! But there's something I'd like to sing for you to cheer you up!''.
Lucy listened as Margo sang a special song she'd made up especially for her mom,
''It's every daughter's dream,
I wanted a mom that will last forever,
I wanted a mom to make it all better,
I wanted a mom that will last forever,
I wanted a mom who will love me whatever,
I wanted a mom to take my hand and make me feel like a holiday,
A mom who tucks me in at night and chases the monsters away,
I wanted a mom to read me stories and sing a lullaby,
And if I have a bad dream to hold me when I cry,
A little girl loves her mom''.
Lucy loved it. Her eyes filled with happy tears. She reached out her arms and pulled Margo into a hug. ''Oh thank you Margo!'' she said happily, wiping away those tears, ''How did I end up with such a wonderful daughter?!''. ''Guess you just got lucky?'' Margo grinned. Later that night when everyone had gone to bed, Gru continued to look after Lucy. As he lay in bed next to her, Gru rubbed Lucy's bare belly to help her soothe the aching pain and held her hand for comfort. For the first time since she'd been sick, Lucy burst into giggles. She adored Gru and couldn't ask for a better husband. She liked the feeling of this strong hand securing her and shut her eyes blissfully feeling more comfortable. When he was sure she was asleep, Gru decided to let her sleep and went to sleep himself.
All he wanted to do now was to help Lucy feel better more than anything else at this moment. As they slept, Lucy began to dream. She dreamt that everything she touched turned to ice cream. At first, Lucy thought it was great. But when she touched Margo and turned her to ice cream! The joy quickly turned to horror. Lucy woke up, shooting up in bed screaming with terror, "AAAAAIIIIIGGGHHHHHHH!". Then of course Gru woke up too. He switched on the light and saw Lucy sitting there shaking and gripping the duvet with both her hands and hyperventilating loudly. ''Lucy?'' he asked in surprise, ''What's wrong?''. ''Gru!'' Lucy quivered, ''I just turned Margo to ice cream!''. Gru knew that wasn't true.
''Lucy'' he said gently, ''Margo's fine, you were just having a bad dream! All dat ice cream has gone to your head!''. Lucy calmed down knowing her eldest daughter wasn't ice cream after all! But the way she'd sat up so quickly made her stomach hurt again. She winced at the pain. ''OGH!'' she grunted. Gru knew what to do. Lucy lay back down on the mattress, allowing Gru to rub her belly again just like before. He did so and Lucy chuckled warmly. Gru's warmth made her forget about both the bad dream she'd just had and the aching in her stomach, she wanted to stay like this forever. Lucy was feeling better already. She went to sleep again with a big smile on her face. Gru put his arm around Lucy and pulled her close to him, hugging her tight. ''Get well soon, Lucy'' he said softly, ''I love you''.
Even though Lucy was now sleeping peacefully, Gru held her in his arm for the rest of the night, determined not to let her have any more bad dreams. When the sun rose the next morning, Lucy woke up to find herself still wrapped in the comfort of Gru's arm. Gru woke up and said, ''Good morning Lucy, how are you feeling dis morning?''. ''Very well!'' said Lucy, then she noticed something else, ''Hey, my stomach ache's all gone!'' she said. ''I'm glad to hear dat'' said Gru. ''Mom! You're all right!'' said Margo when Lucy came into the girls's bedroom. ''All I needed was a good rest, some medicine and plenty of love and care from your dad!'' Lucy grinned. She vowed never to eat too much ice cream or any food ever again and set better examples to her daughters and to control herself in future.
