Brian lay back on the hospital bed, utterly exhausted but wearing a satisfied smile. The adrenaline of the past few hours slowly faded, replaced by an overwhelming sense of peace. He watched his daughters, Izzy and Abby, standing beside him, each holding the tiny, swaddled newborn in their arms, their expressions filled with love and awe.
A proud chuckle escaped him as he saw his son's tiny fingers curl around Izzy's. "He's perfect... just like you two were when I first held you," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
Izzy glanced up, her eyes bright with admiration. "Dad, you were incredible. He's beautiful." She smiled down at the baby, rocking him gently. "You did it, Dad. I'm so proud of you."
Brian's eyes misted, but he blinked back the tears. "I couldn't have done it without you two," he replied, squeezing Izzy's hand. He turned to Abby, who stood close by with a soft, loving smile. "And you too, Abby. You kept me going."
Abby leaned down, pressing a kiss to Brian's cheek. "We love you, Dad. Always."
Brian let out a shaky breath, gratitude flooding his chest. "Thank you, girls. I'm trying... I really am." His eyes softened as he looked at the newborn in Izzy's arms. "Now, for him too."
The room was filled with a quiet warmth, not from the sterile lights, but from the bond they shared. Abby gently passed the baby back to Brian, who cradled his son with infinite tenderness, his heart swelling as he gazed at the tiny face that had already captured his soul.
"I can't believe he's finally here," Brian murmured, brushing a fingertip across his son's soft cheek. "It feels like a dream."
Izzy smiled warmly. "It's real, Dad. And we're right here with you, every step of the way."
Brian nodded, a tear slipping down his cheek. "I couldn't ask for better daughters. You two have grown up so fast... sometimes, I still see you as the little girls who used to tug at my pant leg asking for snacks."
Abby giggled, her eyes bright with affection. "Well, we still do that sometimes. But now we're taller."
Brian laughed, the sound easing the last of the tension from his body. "You're right about that." He shifted slightly on the bed, wincing as soreness flared in his back. Izzy noticed immediately.
"Dad, you should rest," she said gently, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You've been through so much today. We've got him while you get some sleep."
Brian hesitated, looking at the baby in his arms. "I don't want to let him go... not yet," he admitted, his voice thick with emotion. The thought of missing even a second of his son's life felt unbearable.
Abby leaned in, wrapping her arms around him in a soft, comforting embrace. "He's not going anywhere, Dad. We'll take care of him."
Izzy gave him a playful grin. "You trust us, right? You need your strength if you're going to keep up with us and a baby."
Brian managed a tired but fond smile. "Okay, okay. I trust you both. But... just for a little while." He carefully handed his son to Abby, who received him with the utmost care.
As soon as the baby settled in Abby's arms, he let out a tiny yawn, his eyes fluttering shut. Izzy couldn't help but smile as she watched Abby gently sway back and forth, humming softly to the newborn.
The door creaked open, and Mia, Dom, and the rest of the crew entered, their faces lighting up at the sight of Brian and his daughters surrounding the baby.
"Congratulations, Brian," Mia whispered, stepping forward to give him a hug. "He's perfect."
Dom nodded, clapping Brian on the shoulder. "You did good, man. You've got quite the team behind you."
Brian offered them a tired but grateful smile. "I couldn't have done it without my girls... or you guys. Thank you for being here."
Letty, Leon, and Jesse all offered their congratulations, and the room buzzed with laughter and warmth as everyone took their turn admiring the newest member of the family.
As the crew continued to fawn over the baby, Brian's eyelids grew heavy. Izzy gently nudged him toward the bed. "Dad, seriously. Lie down. We've got this."
Brian sighed, relenting. "Alright, alright." With their help, he finally settled back on the bed, his body sighing with relief as he allowed himself to rest.
Before closing his eyes, he looked at his daughters, who were now bustling with care around their baby brother. "I love you both so much," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Izzy and Abby turned to him, their smiles soft and filled with love. "We love you too, Dad. Now sleep. We'll wake you if we need anything."
As Brian drifted off, a deep sense of peace settled over him. Surrounded by his daughters, his friends, and the new life he had helped bring into the world, he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was exactly where he was meant to be.
