Bucky was at the Wilson's helping Sam fix the boat again like any other time.

They had gotten closer and closer for the last year. He comes to Louisiana often to help people, to every cookout, Cass and AJ call him uncle Bucky now and see him as a Wilson and a town folk so welcome any time and anywhere.

After telling Yori that he's the one killing his son he had told Bucky to never see him again and Bucky accepted that and been alone in New York since.

He still goes to Izzy's when Yori isn't there and on missions with Sam as his partner as planned so that keeps him busy.

He had thought about moving to Louisiana but knew that as a part of his pardon he had to stay in New York.

There's only one person on his list left and that one person was going to be the hardest one for him to tell now.

"Thanks again for the help." Sam said.

"Any time." Bucky said. "I uh, actually did this for a living before shipping off to England." he said and Sam looked at him in shock.

"Really?"

"Yeah. My ma died when my sister was born so dad had to pick up the hours a little. I took care of Becca after school while our neighbor did until I got home. Then when dad died in '32 training I got a job working on boats while Steve watched Becca. Sarah helped by offering us leftovers and stuff. When Sarah died Becca had a boyfriend so I moved in with Steve to take care of him since he couldn't get a job because of all his health problems while Becca's boyfriend moved in with her to take care of her since she was seventeen. She had a job and was making a decent amount while he was eighteen and doing the same. The house was just about fully paid off with the money dad left us in his will so they were all set."

"Damn. I'm sorry man."

"What are you gonna do? At least Becca got married and had a good life. I even got to walk her down the isle myself." Bucky said smiling seeing that day. "She was so beautiful and looked so much like ma." he said shaking his head.

"How did you get to see it?" Sam asked and Bucky sighed.

"When I told her I was going to join the army for the war she told her boyfriend, Mathew, and he immediately proposed to her so that in case I didn't make it, I could see the girl I raised became the most beautiful young woman in the world. A month later his family used every single dime they had to get that wedding done just before I left for training. Matt had Steve be the best man since I had to walk her down the isle. When I was at Wakanda, that day was one of the first things I remember and I actually started crying a little. Turns out, Becca kept all those things in a storage and the kids kept them there for me. When Steve was found my last living niece said she had a feeling I was still out there after that fall so she gave Steve the keys and then he gave them to me right before telling me the plan. That's why my hands were in my pockets. I was playing with the key." he said and Sam smiled.

"You raised her well. That must've been the best day of your life."

"It was. I was happy to see her with someone to be there for her while I was out there risking my life. All that was missing was Steve but every time I tried he just wouldn't listen. He just wanted to get in the army like me."

"How did you deal with him all day for so long? I could barely deal with him for four years! Don't get me wrong, he was a great guy but still!" Sam said and Bucky chuckled.

"Sometimes I wonder the same thing." Bucky said shaking his head. "But if I hadn't found him in that alley in '30 he'd probably be dead."

"I don't think I could look after the Steve before the serum."

"That's why I did it. You took care of the other Steve for a few years with the Avengers while me and the rest of the Commandos took care of him during the war." Bucky said smirking. "Before that fall it was always Steve and Bucky or Bucky and Steve." he said and sighed. "Now it's Sam and Bucky or Bucky and Sam." he said and Sam looked at him.

"Hey, if it weren't for you I'd probably be dead by now. You have a lot of skills that I don't have. And the difference between me and Steve is that I was actually trained like you."

"That's because you fly while I stay on the ground."

"You can be seen for a second and then be gone a second later, your sniper? No one can get that good. Steve said you never miss a target and I didn't believe him until now. You're a great friend and partner. I can see why Steve trusted you to work with me." Sam said and Bucky felt his heart sink. "I lost my wingman, Riley." he said and Bucky froze. "Flying a night mission. Standard PJ rescue op, nothing we hadn't done a thousand times before, till RPG knock Riley's dumb ass out of the sky. Nothing I could do. It's like I was up there just to watch."

"I'm sorry."

"You know how it is. When you choose to be a soldier, you choose to risk your life." Sam said and shrugged. "After that I decided to start working at the VA until I met Steve. And you know what happened from there."

"Y-yeah." Bucky said feeling a little uncomfortable and Sam looked at him concerned.

"You alright?" Sam asked and Bucky looked at him.

"I, I know who killed your friend Riley." Bucky said catching Sam's attention.

"Who wa-" Sam started and it hit him and he shook his head backing up a little.

"I'm so sorry Sam. You know I didn't have a choice." Bucky said fighting tears.

"Get out. Go back to New York and never come back! I never wanna see you again!" Sam yelled catching everyone's attention.

"Sam-"

"Get lost! I don't know what Steve was thinking telling me to let you be my friend and partner. You really are nothing but a killer." Sam said and Bucky froze while everyone else gasped and Sam walked away.

"If that's what you think I am, then I know exactly what I'll do." Bucky said and turned to leave.

The next day Sam got a call from Torres asking why Bucky quit the team but Sam just hung up on him.

Meanwhile Bucky was doing something he hadn't done since 1945 and wasn't sure if this was a good idea but knew it was better for everyone.

He was going on his first tour since WWII.

He made a few calls and after making sure that he was really up for doing this after everything he's been through they let him in.

He texted Sarah to tell her what happened between him and Sam and to tell her what he was doing.

She asked if she could at least tell the boys and town folks because they saw him as a Wilson and Louisiana member and he agreed as long as they didn't tell Sam.

She and the boys said they'd write to him along with the town folks and he felt as if they were his Becca and Steve.

He was on his way to where he was going right now and wasn't sure if he was excited to be out there again or nervous. Maybe both.
