As Mei, Zabuza, and Ao arrived back at the Hidden Mist Village, they were met by Tsunade, Jiraiya, and a group of Hidden Mist ANBU waiting for them at the village gates. Mei's eyes sought Tsunade's, searching for confirmation.
"Tsunade," Mei said, her voice steady but carrying a hint of hesitation, "I received the letter during the summit. Is it really true…?"
Tsunade nodded gravely. "Yes, Mei. Naruto confirmed it himself. Sasuke Uchiha is dead. His body is currently under guard here in the village. Naruto believed it was necessary to end Sasuke's threat permanently, to protect all the nations from further chaos."
Jiraiya stepped forward, his expression sympathetic but resolute. "Naruto did what he felt he had to do. The boy understood the weight of his choice and the burden he'd carry. But he knew the risk of letting Sasuke's vendetta continue, especially with the power Sasuke wielded."
Mei exhaled, a mix of relief and sadness in her gaze. "It's difficult to accept. The Uchiha name carried so much… history. But with this, we can start looking forward. Perhaps a future where all our nations stand together in unity."
Tsunade nodded in agreement. "We're all rebuilding now. With Sasuke's reign over, I intend to return to Konoha as Hokage. I want to restore peace among the villages—and help heal the damage he left behind."
Zabuza, standing beside Mei, crossed his arms and spoke up. "And Naruto? He's carrying a heavy burden himself. How is he handling it?"
Jiraiya smiled faintly. "He's strong. He understands the impact of what he's done, but he has Haku and his friends here to support him. In a way, he's found peace here in the Hidden Mist."
Mei, with a glimmer of hope, looked toward her village. "Then perhaps it's time to honor his efforts. I'll work to ensure he has the support he deserves, as well as all of us who fought in this war."
Mei turned to her ANBU, her expression resolute. "Take me to where Sasuke Uchiha's body is being held. I want to see it for myself to ensure it's properly disposed of. We can't risk anyone trying to revive him, not after everything that's happened."
The ANBU nodded, immediately moving to comply with her orders. As they began to lead her away, Zabuza and Ao exchanged glances, following closely behind to offer support and protect their Mizukage.
Tsunade, Jiraiya, and the rest of the Hidden Mist forces watched as Mei and her entourage departed. "We'll ensure nothing happens while she's gone," Tsunade assured them, her voice steady. "This is a sensitive matter, and we can't afford any mistakes."
As they navigated the familiar pathways of the Hidden Mist Village, Mei felt a mixture of determination and dread. She had known Sasuke's strength and his potential for destruction all too well. The thought of his body lying somewhere, vulnerable, unsettled her.
"Are you sure this is the right approach, Mei?" Ao asked, his voice low. "The Uchiha clan's power is vast. Even dead, there may be those who would seek to use that power for their own gain."
Mei nodded, her resolve unwavering. "I know. That's why we have to be cautious. We can't let sentiment cloud our judgment. We've seen the devastation he caused. It's time to put an end to that threat once and for all."
As they reached the secure location where Sasuke's body was held, the air grew heavy with the weight of their task. The ANBU stationed outside stood at attention, their expressions solemn.
"Open the door," Mei commanded. The ANBU complied, revealing a stark chamber where Sasuke's lifeless form lay, shrouded in a black cloth.
Mei stepped forward, her heart pounding as she gazed down at the figure. "This is it," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's really over."
Zabuza stepped up beside her, his usual stoic demeanor softened. "You're doing the right thing, Mei. This is for the safety of our people."
Mei took a deep breath, steeling herself. "I need to know he won't come back. We can't afford to let history repeat itself."
With that thought in mind, she turned to the ANBU again. "Prepare to incinerate the body. We'll make sure nothing remains."
The ANBU nodded, quickly moving to implement her orders. As the flames began to rise, Mei watched with a mix of sadness and relief, knowing they were taking a crucial step toward safeguarding their future.
As the flames consumed Sasuke's body, Mei took a moment to reflect on the gravity of what they had just done. Once satisfied that everything was in order, she turned to Ao and instructed him, "Ensure our village borders and defenses are secure. I don't want any surprises while we deal with this aftermath."
Ao nodded and moved off to relay her orders, understanding the importance of vigilance in these tumultuous times.
Mei then turned to Zabuza as they exited the chamber, her expression shifting from solemnity to determination. As they approached Tsunade and Jiraiya, she could sense a tense atmosphere lingering in the air.
Tsunade looked serious, her brows furrowed. "Mei, before you go, there's something else you should be aware of regarding Kabuto and the remnants of his organization."
Mei felt a tightening in her chest. "What is it?"
Jiraiya stepped forward, his voice grave. "When we took down Kabuto's lair, we discovered more than just the reanimated corpses. There were also records and research that suggested he was experimenting with the bloodlines of various clans. This included the Uchiha and Uzumaki clans, but there was something else—a reference to an unknown subject."
Mei frowned, trying to process the implications. "Unknown subject? What do you mean?"
Tsunade took a deep breath, choosing her words carefully. "The documents we found hinted at a child, possibly another offspring that combined the bloodlines of the Uchiha and Uzumaki clans. Kabuto had intended to create a new vessel, but it's unclear if this child ever survived."
Zabuza crossed his arms, his expression hardened. "So there's a possibility of another Uchiha out there?"
"Yes," Tsunade replied, her gaze steady. "And given the nature of Kabuto's work, it's not just a matter of the child being alive. If they are, they could possess a tremendous amount of power, potentially dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands."
Mei felt a surge of urgency. "Where is this child now? Is there any information on their whereabouts?"
Jiraiya shook his head. "Not much. The documents were incomplete, and we don't have a clear lead. However, it's believed they could be connected to the Hidden Frost Village."
Tsunade regarded Mei with a serious expression, her voice steady but laced with concern. "However, there's something else you should know. One of Sasuke's teammates, a girl has red hair that resembles traits of a full-blooded Uzumaki. Given Naruto's lineage and the fact that his mother was also an Uzumaki, I can't help but wonder if there's a connection."
Mei raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "So you think she might be an Uzumaki as well? That could change everything if true."
"Exactly," Tsunade continued, pacing slightly as she processed the implications. "Once I have the chance to interrogate Sasuke's team, I'll make it a priority to learn where their alliances lie and how much they know. If this girl is indeed connected to the Uzumaki clan, it could mean a significant shift in our understanding of the situation."
Zabuza nodded, his brow furrowed in thought. "And what if it turns out she is related to Naruto? What will we do then?"
Tsunade sighed, the weight of leadership evident on her face. "That's the part I dread. I can't imagine placing that burden on Naruto. He's already dealing with so much, and bringing another child into the picture—especially one that could have ties to Sasuke—would complicate things further."
Mei crossed her arms, her resolve hardening. "Then we'll do everything we can to ensure Naruto's focus remains on the future, not the shadows of his past. If we can confirm that this girl is an Uzumaki, we should be able to protect her and help her find her place without dragging Naruto into a conflict he shouldn't have to face."
Tsunade's expression softened slightly, appreciating Mei's understanding. "I agree. If this girl is innocent in all of this, she deserves a chance to choose her own path, free from the weight of her parents' choices."
Jiraiya interjected, "But we have to act quickly. The longer we wait, the more time those who would exploit this situation have to maneuver."
As Naruto and Haku strolled through the bustling streets of the Hidden Mist Village, they couldn't help but soak in the vibrant atmosphere that had returned after the war. Laughter and chatter filled the air, a welcome change from the tension of recent days. However, their moment of peace was interrupted when they spotted Mei, Zabuza, Jiraiya, and Tsunade gathered together a short distance away.
"Hey, Naruto!" Jiraiya called out, waving enthusiastically. "Are you two ready? We've got some important matters to discuss, and we'll be heading out soon."
Naruto glanced at Haku, his heart heavy with the thought of leaving her again. "I'm sorry to leave so soon," he said, his voice sincere. "But I'll be back before you know it. With the Flying Raijin mark, I won't have to worry about walking back here."
Haku smiled softly, understanding the weight of his responsibilities. "I know you will. Just promise me you'll stay safe out there." She reached out, squeezing his hand gently, grounding both of them in the moment.
Tsunade stepped forward, her expression serious yet reassuring. "You're doing what you need to do, Naruto. I believe in you."
"Yeah! And besides," Jiraiya chimed in, grinning, "You'll get to show off that new Rinne Sharingan of yours to me."
Naruto chuckled, a mix of pride and determination swelling within him. "I'll do my best." He turned back to Haku, feeling the weight of the moment. "I'll come back, I promise."
As they prepared to leave, Mei approached Naruto, her expression softening. "You've already accomplished so much. Just remember that you have allies who care about you. Don't hesitate to rely on us when you need to."
Naruto nodded, feeling a swell of gratitude. "Thank you, Mei. That means a lot."
With one last glance at Haku, Naruto felt a spark of determination ignite within him. "Let's go," he said, stepping forward, ready to embrace whatever challenges lay ahead, confident that he would return to the one person who meant the world to him.
As Naruto and Jiraiya set out from the Hidden Mist Village, the familiar scenery of their surroundings blurred past them, the crisp air filled with the promise of adventure. Jiraiya took a moment to glance over at Naruto, noting the distinctive glow of the Rinne Sharingan in his eyes. It was a remarkable power, one that could change the tide of any battle.
"Wow, Naruto," Jiraiya mused, a hint of nostalgia in his voice. "I sometimes wish your parents were here to see this. They'd be amazed at what you've accomplished. I know they'd be so proud of you."
Naruto's heart swelled at the thought. The memories of his parents, their love and sacrifice, always lingered in the back of his mind. "Yeah, I wish they were here too," he replied, his tone reflective. "But… there was that day when Obito attacked the Hidden Mist. It was like a chance to finally meet them."
Jiraiya nodded, encouraging him to continue.
"I was able to meet my mom and dad," Naruto said, a soft smile breaking through. "They told me they left their chakra in my seals to help me. It helped me overcome the Nine Tails. It felt like they were right there with me, guiding me through it."
"That's incredible," Jiraiya said, his eyes shining with pride. "Your parents always believed in you. They knew you'd find a way to harness that power."
Naruto nodded, the warmth of their presence still felt even in their absence. "It's like they're still with me in a way. Every time I tap into that power, I feel their strength pushing me forward."
Jiraiya smiled, the bittersweet mix of memories evident in his gaze. "You're carrying their legacy, Naruto. With that Rinne Sharingan and your spirit, there's no doubt you'll protect everyone you care about."
As they moved deeper into the forest, the air thick with anticipation, Naruto's resolve hardened. "I won't let them down. I'll make sure everyone is safe and find out what's going on with that child Tsunade mentioned. There has to be more to this than we know."
"Just remember, you're not alone in this," Jiraiya reminded him. "You've got allies who will always stand by you, no matter what."
"Right. I've got Haku waiting for me, and I want to build a future with her. I won't let anything stand in my way," Naruto declared, determination fueling his every step.
As they continued on their journey, the bond between them strengthened—a mentor and his student, facing the unknown together, ready to confront whatever challenges lay ahead.
