It had been a while since my conversation with Mr. Marsh. Seven months to be exact. It was already summer when Mr. Marsh called me and told me that the Psychic type trainer would be visiting Pewter city. She was arriving today, and I was told to meet her at the Pokémon center.

...

I sat patiently in the Pokémon center's lobby. I watched as trainers came and go, much to the distress of Nurse Joy. Seriously she was amazing. Watching her care for the sick Pokémon was somewhat entertaining, but I had something to do.

Mr. Marsh's friend was a Psychic type trainer named Lisa. Apparently, she had traveled across the world in search for exotic and rare Psychic types. Her most notable feature was her purple hair. He had described her as a hardworking trainer who just so happened to be a little crazy.

But she seriously couldn't arrive at a reasonable time. She had access to the move teleport, why couldn't she just teleport over to the Pokémon center

I leaned back into the chair. I raised my arm to read my watch, 5:35. I couldn't be out past sunset. This was going to be a problem.

...

The sun had begun to set when I started packing my things. I guess I could just meet her tomorrow or maybe try to find a wild abra. I sighed heavily and stood up from my chair. I began walking to the door when a tall lady with dark blue hair entered the Pokémon center.

She was tall and beautiful. Her hair reached down to her shoulders, and she had quite the collection of Jewlery on her neck and wrists. She looked exactly like I imagined a Psychic type trainer would. Lucky break, I guess. I began walking towards her.

Would she help me? Only one way to find out.

"Hi, you wouldn't happen to be a Psychic type trainer, would you?" I looked up at her. She was really tall.

The trainer looked down at me. Her blue eyes seemed to be endlessly deep.

"I sure am. Who are you?" She put her hand on her hip and raised her eyebrow.

"My name is Laith, I'm an upcoming trainer. I was hoping to find a trainer who had access to the move teleport so my Smeargle could sketch it." I looked up at her pleadingly.

The lady sighed. She massaged her temple. "I suppose I could help you out. My name is Annie."

Annie? Looks like Lisa wouldn't be needed after all.

I extended me hand with a smile.

"Thanks a bunch." I smiled at her sweetly.

...

Thanks to Annie, my Smeargle had successfully learned teleport. With all the endurance training we had done over the past couple of months, teleporting seemed like no issue for him.

I was also able to pick up another handy move, Protect. Annie truly was a big help.

Protect was a move that allowed a Pokémon to summon a barrier. This barrier could be used to guard itself or be used to guard other people. Either way, it was an amazing addition to Smeargle's moveset.

I walked out of the Pokemon center and released Smeargle.

"Smeargle smear?" Smeargle looked up at me, awaiting a command.

"Hey Smeargle, do you think you can teleport us back home?" I knelt down as I spoke.

"Smear Smear!" Smeargle nodded affirmatively.

I grabbed Smeargle's arm and waited for him to start the teleportation process.

I felt a little bit of paint from Smeargle's tail drip onto my leg. Looks like I'd have to do laundry today.

Suddenly a I saw a flash of purple. For a split second, It felt like my body was being torn apart. I blinked and we were no longer at the Pokémon center.

We weren't exactly home either. I looked around and scanned my surroundings. It seems like Smeargle wasn't used to teleporting just yet. He had somehow teleported us to the street next to my house. I looked up at the sky and saw that the sun had almost set. uh oh.

"Cmon Smeargle, we gotta go!" I exclaimed as I got up and started running.

I tripped. Teleporting really messed up my orientation. I got up and embarrassingly looked at Smeargle, who was struggling to hold back his laughter.

"Whatever, we gotta go!" I shouted as I ran towards my street.

Smeargle stopped laughing and started running too. "Smear Smear!" He shouted. Clearly asking me to slow down.

After a minute or so we finally arrived at my house.

I knelt as I tried to catch my breath. I looked towards Smeargle who seemed to be just fine with all that running. Looks like his endurance training has been going well. But he was quite slow. I think I better start training his speed too.

I looked down at Smeargle with a grin.

Tomorrow will be a fun day.

...

Smeargle and I were at the Clearing next to the gym. I wanted to see how many times Smeargle could teleport before getting tired.

I released Smeargle from his Pokeball.

click.

Smeargle emerged from the light. "Smear Smear" It exclaimed.

"Hey buddy," I said as I knelt down to pat his head.

"Today we're going to put all that training to the test." I smiled.

Smeargle nodded excitedly. "Smear Smear!"

I stood up from my kneeling position. "Alright Smeargle, Teleport the Gym to the end of the Clearing until you can't anymore!"

The distance was about 350 feet long. Teleport was meant to be used for long distance travel, but the farther you went, the more exhausting it was.

I watched as my Smeargle tried and struggled to teleport the distance. It wasn't that he was too tired, or it was too far of a distance, but he kept undershooting and overshooting the spot. What was supposed to be a 350 feet teleport ended up being 420 ft, Or 330.

Looks like accuracy would be a major point of focus for our next training sessions.

Eventually Smeargle was completely exhausted after 36 teleports. Not bad for a solo teleport.

The general rule of thumb was to take the number of solo teleports and divide it by half and minus 3. That was typically the number of times a Pokémon could teleport in a day with a second person. According to this, I'd be able to teleport with Smeargle 15 times a day.

I walked over to my now exhausted Smeargle. He was laying down, clearly tired from today's training.

I picked him up and smiled. "You did good today buddy."

I could've returned him to his Pokeball, I could've made him walk, but for some reason, I decided to carry him that day.
