Story Time
12-year-old Gon smirked as Feitan stabbed the guard through the head with a knife.
"Messy. Messy." Gon said teasingly.
Feitan rolled his eyes. "Quiet brat. Do job now."
Gon ducked as Feitan's arm flew out to strike him going over his head. "Sir, yes, sir."
Feitan rolled his eyes watching as the brat went and used his Nen to break the glass to remove the 20 karat Dimond out of the display.
The two moved forward to the exit where the others were waiting.
"About time you two got here. What took so long?" Phinks asked with a huff.
Gon smiled big, "Uncle Feitan was playing with the guards."
Feitan dove forward with a punch but Gon was ready. He dove up and onto his Uncle Uvogin's shoulders with a smirk.
Uvogin smirked and crossed his arms looking up at the boy in amusement.
"Enough, you two. Let's go. The boss is waiting." Machi said with a roll of her eyes.
Feitan huffed as Gon stuck his tongue out at the man.
The group turned and got into the vehicles leaving disaster and death behind them.
Back at the hideout, Chrollo smirked as he looked at all the gems and treasure the spiders had stolen. "Well done, my spiders. We have done very well."
The man turned to his youngest member. "Gon, you did absolutely wonderful. You are growing into a fine spider."
Gon's face lit up in joy before biting his lip in nervousness. "Does that mean I'm going to get a spider like everyone else, dad?"
The others shared amused looks. Gon asked this after every successful mission since Chrollo started allowing him to be a part. It was amusing.
Chrollo walked over and ran a hand over the boy's head. "Soon you will. Very soon."
Gon signed but nodded his head.
The man turned to the others. "Everyone, get some rest. We will leave early tomorrow morning."
Chrollo turned and motioned for Feitan and Machi to follow.
Gon turned and jumped up to a window that was 15 feet high where his things were. He was sure he had pleased his dad this time and was sad since he felt he had failed him somehow.
Looking out the window, Gon thought about his childhood. He knew Chrollo wasn't his real father but he had rescued him after his biological father had abandoned him. The phantom troupe were his family. His Aunts and Uncles taught him how to fight and be the thief he was today. He wanted to make them all proud of him.
"He is proud of you. Very Proud." Pakunoda said with a smile as she jumped up to where he was.
Gon sighed and turned to the woman. Aunt Pakunoda had been the one to teach him how to detect if someone was lying or not by understanding the body and the ticks that came with those who lied. She was who he would go to when he was sad as she gave the best advice other than dad and Machi. He considered her like a mom.
"I just want to make him really proud. To wear the spider like the rest of you. I feel like I've failed him because I'm not worthy of the mark." Gon said with a sad look sniffing.
Pakunoda sighed before pulling the boy into her arms. Gon snuggled into her and closed his eyes. He hated feeling weak. She rocked him back and forth while rubbing her hand down his back trying to comfort the boy.
"I remember the day we found you. None of us expected it. As we went home, I saw the look on the boss's face as he held you. He was so proud to find you. He has big plans for you and I know one day you will wear the spider mark on your skin."
Gon opened his eyes and looked at her in worry. "Really?"
Pakunoda smiled at him. "Really. You're a very special boy, Gon. We all believe in you including the boss."
Gon's eyes lit up in joy at her praise.
Pakunoda ran her thumb over the boy's cheek with a smile. "Now I believe it's time for lessons on hacking with Shalnark."
"It sure is. I have a treat for you this time, little boy. I made it especially for you." Shalnark sad looking up at them with a big smile.
Gon smiled. "I bet I can beat it in 15 minutes."
Shalnark laughed. "Well than, I believe it's time for a bet. You won't beat this in an hour."
Pakunoda shook her head while rolling her eyes. "Away with both of you. Go play your games."
Gon hugged Pakunoda tight while whispering, "Thanks for being here, Aunt Pakunoda. I wish you were my mom."
He quickly jumped down and over to Uncle Shalnark. "Let's do this. I'm going to beat my last record."
Shalnark shook his head and wrapped an arm around the boy's shoulders. "Sure you can. Same stakes."
Gon threw his hands up in the air with excitement. "Yeah. This time I'm winning."
Shalnark laughed and shook his head in amusement. It was obvious to all that the two were close.
Pakunoda hopped down and watched them walk down a hallway to where the computer was set up.
"Funny how he worms into your heart, isn't it?" Chrollo said watching Pakunoda.
She turned to him with a sigh. "What do you expect when we've raised him since he was four?"
Feitan and Machi watched with mixed looks on their face at the scene.
"Remember why he is here. He has a roll." Chrollo said with a blank face.
Pakunoda glared at her friend. "I remember."
Feitan huffed. "Sure. Getting Sentimental."
Machi scoffed. "Like the kid hasn't made an impression on you. I seem to remember someone who was so proud on Gon's first kill that he bought the kid some of his favorite chocolates. Gon didn't stop smiling for a week after you told him you were proud of him."
Feitan crossed his arms in a huff not denying what she said.
Pakunoda turned her attention to Chrollo. "I know why he was originally brought here but things have changed. The minute you allowed him to call you dad and for the rest of the spiders to act like Aunts or Uncles changed the plan and you know it."
Chrollo sighed and looked down the hall to where Gon had disappeared. "I know."
Pakunoda walked over and placed a hand on his arm. "I'm upping his training. I won't stop the plan but I will sure as hell make sure that he is ready for when it happens. Gon will be the one walking from that fight even if I have to help him."
Feitan smirked. "We make sure. Ging threw him away. We collected. He belongs to us."
Chrollo nodded his head. "After Gon's asleep. We will discuss his new training."
LATER THAT NIGHT
Gon was lying on his bed reading a book about a boy with magic powers who goes to a school to learn to control his powers. The boy couldn't help but wonder if he could preform some of the magic spells that were in the book with his nen. He still needed to create a special Nen ability and Dad said it was time for him to figure out what he wanted to do.
"Time for bed." Chrollo said looking at his son.
Gon smiled and closed his book.
"I'm not tired yet. Can't I stay up for just a little longer?" Gon asked with a pout.
Chrollo laughed. "Absolutely not. We need to leave early tomorrow, and you need to rest before we leave."
Gon sighed before placing the book on the side table, he shimmed down into his sleeping bag. "Dad, are you proud of me?"
Chrollo glanced at the boy before walking over to sit down beside him. "Yes. I am very proud of you. You have worked very hard to become a strong Nin user and fighter. I have seen how hard you tried to learn the lessons from the others. Medical from Machi, Hacking form Shalnark, and all the others that were put before you. You have exceled at them all under our guidance. I am very proud of you. One day you will wear the spider and stand by us as one of us. A true member of the spiders."
Gon smiled big and sat up hugging his dad tightly. "I love you dad."
Chrollo licked his lips as an uncertain look crossed his face. A few seconds passed before Chrollo raised his arms and hugged the boy close. "I love you too…my son."
Gon moved back and snuggled back in his sleeping bag. "Dad, can you tell me about your first mission?"
Chrollo laughed. "I've told you this story several times."
The boy smiled big. "It's my favorite story. You were so amazing the way you tricked that hunter and stole his Nen gift."
Chrollo shook his head in amusement. "Very well but after this you must go to sleep."
30 Minutes Later
Chrollo shut the door to the room Gon was sleeping in with a sigh.
"Why are you here?" Chrollo asked with annoyance.
Pakunoda walked out of the darkness with a sad smile.
"Nice story. Gon seemed to love it." She said with an amused smile.
Chrollo glanced at her and went to walk past her when Pakunoda's hand shot out stopping him.
"It's hard when he is showing that love to you, isn't it? Makes everything seem more real than the script you planned." Pakunoda said with a sad smile.
Chrollo sighed and nodded his head. The two started walking down the hallway with Pakunoda glancing at him with a frown every few minutes.
"Just say what you want to say." Chrollo said with a blank face.
Pakunoda sighed, "No matter what the plan was. That child has become part of our family. He may not have been left in our home, but he became one of us the minute we stole him and decided to raise him. He was abandoned just like every child ever dumped in Metero City. He has picked up several character traits that he learned from the spiders. We have nurtured that boy into what he is today. You may not have had any part of creating him but he is your son."
Chrollo walked over to the window and stared up at the moon. Pakunoda stood back watching him waiting.
The man couldn't help but think about the years since he kidnapped Gon. Chrollo had been the one to teach the child to read and write. Gon picked up Feitan's glare and Machi's ability to just know stuff. Little ticks that the members had shown in the boy's manners and fighting style. The boy was just like the spiders. Thinking back to putting Gon to bed, Chrollo smiled. The boy watched him with so much awe as the thief told how he stole his first Nen power. Things had not gone to plan with getting revenge against Hunter Ging.
Chrollo turned to the woman with a smile. "Yes. It seems my plan did go astray from its original plans. We are going to need to change the plans and prepare for the future. It would not be good for Ging to feel he has a right to my son. He did choose to abandon him after all."
Chrollo walked down the hallway to where the other spiders were. The spiders had a lot of plans to make for their youngest member.
Pakunoda smirked. She may not have birthed Gon but he was her son and she would protect him until he was ready to stand on his own.
-12 Years Later -
42-year-old Ging walked into Isaac Netero's office with a huff. He honestly had no desire to be here.
He was surprised when Mizaistom Nana and Cheadle Yorkshire were sitting in the room waiting. The tension in the air strengthened when he entered.
"Hello, Ging. Thank you for being here." Netero said with a grim look on his face.
Ging sighed as he rubbed his leg where the prostatic was. He had lost it during the Chimera Ants epidemic. It was only luck that Netero with the help of Zeno Zoldyck that the leader of the Chimera Ants, Meruem, was defeated. They lost a lot of hunters in killing the other chimera ants who had run amuck after the death of their king.
The Zodiac also suffered as injuries occurred because of mistakes. Ging had lost his leg when he tried to fight Meruem, the sheep lost an arm, other members were out of commission from serious injuries that left some bedridden for months. It had been a harsh loss for the Hunters Association.
"Why am I here?" Ging asked in annoyance.
Netero sighed before pushing an enclosed envelope toward the man. "I'm sorry. I don't know how we missed this."
Ging frowned before grabbing the envelope to open it. Looking at the pictures, he stared in horror.
"No." He whispered.
Cheadle reached out and placed a hand on Ging's shoulder. "We will help you get him back."
"Cheadle's right. We will rescue him. Those fools will pay for this." Mizaistom said in anger while glaring at the pictures.
Ging raised his eyes with fire blazing. "Who? How did you get this information?"
Netero sighed. "The Phantom Troupe. We are investigating but we believe we know who gave them whale Island's location. Unfortunately, he was assassinated three days after we were made aware of your family's death."
Ging glared. "Who sent the pictures?"
Netero smirked in amusement. "A magician never reveals his secrets unless he is angry about being denied a fight."
Ging lowered his head into his hands and clutched them tightly in anger. A few minutes later he raised his head and looked at the man.
"I'm going to kill them. Every last one of them." Ging told him.
Netero smirked. "yes. I believe it is time to take care of them once and for all. I believe the Zodiacs and some of the stronger hunters will need to come together and exterminate some spiders."
The old man stood and grabbed his cane. He would soon be retiring as his injuries from fighting had cost him greatly. Moving around the desk, he placed a hand on Ging's shoulder. "We will start a search for them. We will find your son."
Three hours later – Meteor City
Shalnark huffed in anger. He turned to the Boss. "We have been betrayed by Hisoka. He knows. The Zodiacs have started a search for us."
Chrollo smirked. "Well, this should be interesting. Isn't that right, my son?"
23-year-old Gon stepped out of the darkness with a smirk. He had changed from that child so long ago. His eyes were hard with a slash down his cheek from a previous mission. His black hair was short, but it was spiked up in the front. He wore a sleeveless green shirt with a pair of ripped black jeans and a pair of black boots. On his shoulders were tattoos from his favorite missions hidden in them. Under his shirt on his chest over his heart was a black spider with the number 11 on it. He had earned the tattoo when he killed the chain user who killed his uncle Uvogin. He had been happy to present the eyes of the chain user to his Uncle Nobunaga.
"I can't wait to meet him. I will be happy to send him straight to the abyss after I thank him that is." Gon said with a smirk.
Feitan frowned and tilted his head. "Thank him? Why?"
Gon smiled. "Him abandoning me led me to find my true family. You know what they say. Blood may be thicker than water but it doesn't mean blood will always be family. It will be my pleasure in killing him."
Chrollo smirked in amusement. "I am proud of you my son."
Pakunoda smiled and squeezed her son's shoulder. He had grown into such a strong man.
Gon just smirked looking around at his family. He had a family who loved him. He couldn't wait to meet his biological father. He couldn't wait to kill his biological father. It would be a fight to remember.
