Pain is universal... From the depths of darkness I heard a soft spoken voice cry out in desperation suffering the mental affects of being isolated.
The sadness this girl emitted was overwhelmingly powerful, I couldn't bare to fight it.
No... She wasn't a human girl, she was a witch...
A witch different from other witches that oppose her day by day.
Her name was...
"Robin?"
I awoke in the room Robin and I shared, i looked out of window on the ceiling, it was cloudy yet the sun was slowly rising in the silent empty sky above me.
I slowly stood up from the spot on the floor I sat in the room.
I gazed at the area where Robin's bed was, located on the right side of the room but it was suspended in the air by a medal platform.
A cellphone was ringing over and over again on the bed
I walked towards the bunk bed ladder as I climbed up.
Half way climbing up the bunk bed ladder I realized Robin wasn't present with me in the room.
My heart dropped as Robin's absence affected me a little bit.
Normally with the enhanced abilities I have gained after coming to this dark world I would be able to track her whereabouts but I have fallen I'll with a cold, weakening my senses.
Frozen in place I debated whether to go out and look for Robin but on the other hand I realized... Being by herself she can fend for herself.
Not only that... That one thorn at my side that pisses me off...
"Ugh that ringing sounds is annoying as hell, Robin left her phone behind. Tch... How careless can she be? I'll stash it in my pocket for the time being.
I climbed up the ladder to Robin's bed, grabbing her phone and putting it my right pocket.
I heard the doorknob jiggle back and forth that made my ears on the top of my head twitch.
I turned my head to the right while on Robin's bed, the door to the room opened and the person who walked through the door was Mr big shot himself.
"Top of the mornin, I just wanted to inform you that Ms Sena has a day off of work today, she stepped out as well."
In frustration I effortlessly leaped off the bunk bed and landed in front of the person who took Robin and I in.
"Tell me about it, Robin wouldn't act stupid and leave the hideout without her little contraption or whatever you humans call these things."
I pulled out Robin's phone from my right pocket and showed the guy who stood before me.
" She left her phone too? That's so unlike her... I was a hour away In a attempt to give her a call about something important."
"Is Robin with those shady people who hunt witches?"
"You mean the STN -J? Not that I know of... Robin walked passed the office telling us she was going to be out for awhile. For all I know she could be out with Amon."
Hearing that name struck a nerve
"Don't even mention that guy, if she wants to leave me hanging then she's going to get a piece of my mind.
I walked past the guy and out of the room as I placed Robin's phone back in my right pocket.
" Hey pal don't you think your overprotective? Give Robin some space to breathe, and you got something against my younger brother?."
I turned my head to the left and gazed back at the guy.
" Give her space to breathe my ass... My top priority while I'm here is keeping Robin safe by all means necessary. You and I both know Amon tried to kill her two times. Whose to know he might try it a third time..."
"Amon and I butted heads in the past but I was able to fend him off."
So then I left the building where I was hiding with Robin.
Wandering the dark gloomy streets of Japan. This Japan was totally different then Kagome's Japan. This Japan I'm in only had humans and witches but I was the only half demon in this strange world.
Slowly I walked on the side walks of Japan, the nasty cold I had was dragging me down to the point I was sluggish... I picked up some of Robin's scent along the way.
Robin Sena was... Someone different then everybody I encountered in my life... Different than Kikyo and less annoying like Kagome...
Nonetheless Robin and I have our rare moments of bickering back and forth sometimes.
Robin wasn't like the other witches I encountered as I was by her side. Quiet and kind... Her power never drove her to the brink of insanity... She was always sane and put herself before others.
At the very beginning my heart was black and ignorant as I was... Overtime I grew to understand her and she grew to understand me.
Robin's personality was out of this world, she was so loving and caring which warmed my heart. It brings a side out of me that I never thought that existed.
Robin was the only one that cried out to me after being separated from her friends while being hunted.
I was never fond of anybody she associated herself with.
Robin was a innocent gentle soul, even if her power grew stronger. Everyone else seen her as a sinister monster that needed to be put down.
Anybody that associated with Robin would become a target of being killed by other witches or hunters.
Thus the calm before the storm I was pulled in being at the side of one the most dangerous witches of Japan.
We learned so much, traveled Japan together, fought many together as I acted as her guardian.
The way things are going now... The thought of being a target to be killed by a enemy, has me paranoid.
I'm outside under the grey sky risking my life, looking for someone carefore most...
Why am I feeling like this?
Was it the sadness I seen on Robin's face in the past?
Was it the tears that streamed down her face as I watched frozen in place.
Or... Was it something more I can imagine.
I wandered the streets of Japan until I seen a cafe across the street called Harry's
-few minutes-
I entered the cafe, all the tables and chairs where properly set up in different sections of the small restaurant.
I seen a older man behind bar area whispering in the ear of a even older man who was well dressed.
They both looked at me as if they knew me.
"How intriguing... You must be new here! Come come sit wherever you like, I'll get you set up in just a moment.
I nodded and looked away
"Thanks..."
I sat the table I chose and was deep in thought. I took out Robin's phone from my right pocket and just stared at it.
"Father juliano could that really be from what I've been hearing?"
"Yes... We both sense his aura, he is the demon my granddaughter summoned after the STN-J headquarters was attacked by Solomon. It is what us craft users call the demonic pact... A ancient ritual embedded in the secrets of the craft."
"Gasp..."
"He goes by the name of InuYasha... He is as dangerous as Robin but from his mental state, all he is doing is looking for his summoner.
I looked over to two guys that were still talking, I grew impatient of waiting since my cold symptoms was killing me.
"IM NOT INVISIBLE YA KNOW , IM LITERALLY DYING FROM A COLD OVER HERE. KEEP ME WAITING TOO LONG ILL BURN THIS BUILDING DOWN TO ASHES."
The owner stopped to talking to the older gentleman and rushed over to take my order.
"Now now let's cool that hot temper, what'll you have today?"
"Keh... Took ya awhile... I'll just have orange juice. Also a order of ramen."
I didn't bother looking at the menu.
"Alright, a order of orange juice and a order ramen coming right up."
I watch the owner collect the menus that was left on my table.
"How's your day going by the way? All is well?"
I shook my head
" I guess you can say... My heart aches."
"I'm sorry to hear that, remember what your going through is only temporary you'll get through these hard times. I love your dog ears and long white hair, simply a rare sight we don't see everyday in Japan."
I sighed as the owner of cafe walked away.
" I should have wore that hat Robin bought me a long time ago, I was so caught up on my feelings I tend to for get things."
The older well dressed gentleman wearing sunglasses approach the table I was sitting at.
"Hello there, how do you do? are you seeking the same person I am seeking as well!?"
I glared at the old man acting like I didn't know what nonsense he was spewing. I was already paranoid as if a hunter was out to take me or Robin out.
"What of it? I don't hang with nobody in this back water city, it's solo dolo over here."
The well dressed gentleman took out a photo from his jacket pocket and showed it right in my face.
I seen Robin smiling gently in a old picture as I fell silent.
My heart dropped to my stomach as I feared the worst. Please don't tell me they hunted Robin...
I jumped back as I seen Robins smiling face on that old photo.
My eyes turned blue as I was ready for battle.
"Now now I come In peace, you don't have to lie either. What you seek is what I seek also. See that park over there?"
I looked at the park across the street as the man pointed at it and looked back at him with a glare.
"We'll talk more over there. In the mean time you need to take a breather. Enjoy your food InuYasha."
My jaw almost dropped once he said my name.
"Hey old man how the hell do you know my name?"
1 hour later to the afternoon
I stormed through the park angrily as these humans looked at me crazy.
I seen the same old man that I encountered in Harry's cafe, he was sitting at a bench near a forest full of dead trees.
He sat there peacefully reading a holy bible
No matter matter how peaceful he looked sitting there with a book in his hand I was still heated.
"Hey ya old geezer, how do you know Robin? Most importantly how do you know my name?"
I yelled at the old man as he closed his holy bible and gave me a stern look in exchange.
"Robin is... Robin is my granddaughter, and you... Your existence in this world wouldn't be possible without the fragment of wisdom, but I'm aware Robin told you how she called you into this world."
The fragment of wisdom? How does he know about that thing? The secrets of the craft is similar like the shikon jewel in my world. Some dried up witch I never met passed the fragment of wisdom down to Robin, making her huge target.
"Your Robin's grandpa? That's hard to believe... I didn't come all the way out here to hear a lecture on how I was summoned by her. You still haven't answered my question on how you knew my name...
"Robin called out your name a lot up to this point, I have been keeping a close eye on you two for quite sometime now through surveillance videos provided by Amon. That is how I know your name.
I raised an eyebrow as I ready my claws.
"Is that so..."
" I am Juliano Colegui, I am known as father Juliano I am responsible for orchestrating the hunt for Robin.
I grew angry as I stepped closer to Robin's Grand father.
"You... I should strike you down where you stand, we went through so much hell being labeled as targets and fighting all these hunters, do you know how much suffering and sadness Robin went through after she was classified as a witch? Tell me... are you from Solomon? Are you the one sending all these witch hunters to go after Robin and I?
Father Juliano shook his head.
"I understand your frustration, forgive this old man and his insecurity. I use to work for Solomon as a hunter but my power have diminished overtime. Solomon are the ones sending their hunters to Japan to kill you and Robin, not me. The only thing I have done was have Amon take you and Robin both out but I realize... Hearing your words... She could be the very same sweet Robin that left my side along time ago."
"Tch... She's never changed... Robin always been the very same sweetheart who cared about others... Hell... Even witches... You don't know how many times I seen the uncomfortable look on her face when she went on some witch hunts with those STN-J people. You don't know how many times I seen the sorrow on her face. The moments when Robin cried... It tore my heart to pieces. You of all people having no contact with her inevitably would overthink and assume Robin lose her mind. Am I right?"
The old man nodded with a stern look on his face.
"Precisely"
I only sighed at Robin's grandfathers response.
"So... What brings you all the way out here? Don't tell me your seeking redemption after orchestrating a assassination attempt."
"Amon told me himself he didn't have it in him to hunt Robin. Since you had her back to the end her resolve was loud and clear. With you by her side you can bring out the best in her. It's my duty to meet with my granddaughter face to face and explain to her the true origins of her being and apologize for my ways. Originally I wanted to talk Robin alone but I sense the deep feelings you have for my granddaughter. Accompany me, we shall make our way to the STN-J headquarters."
I was in awe for a second then I snapped back into reality.
"Hmph... Let's get a move on, I can't say I fully trust ya but we all fuck up and make mistakes."
-moments later-
The sky turned dark after the sunsetted.
I forgot... It was a different season. The season of fall has passed... During these times the sky turns dark really fast in the afternoon.
"Italy? The hell is that?"
I asked as Father Juliano and I stopped in front of the gates surrounding a unusual building.
"Italy is a country I am from... Robin was born here in Japan but I flew her out to Italy to care for her. I think it's too complex for you to understand the culture of Italy since your not from this world."
"Pfft Living in modern times Is already complicated as it is. I don't think I've adapted yet in this new Japan after being pulled to the front lines with a girl, and living a life on the run from Solomon."
"Hmm..."
"Is this where Robin worked before the place was attacked? So I heard...
I gazed at Robin's grandfather
" Amon reported that the attack on STN-J wasn't for Robin, Solomon attacked the headquarters to discover what zaizen was planning this entire time."
The security guard of STN-J headquarters walked up to gate on the opposite side wondering who we were and why we're here.
" You two have business here? or just visiting? If not I'm going to report you both for trespassing."
All of sudden I got angry.
"Listen here Pal... I know for a fact Robin is with that guy Amon and hanging out with the rest of those STN-J losers, I've been looking for her all day. If she comes back with her former team members tell her we're looking for her."
"You think with that attitude I'm going to pass on the message? Well today isn't your lucky day, and your color isn't black either. Besides nobody told me the circus was coming to the city, I hope they didn't come all the way here to recruit Robin
I scowled at the security guard.
"How bout I just jump over the gate and beat your face in making it black and blue?"
Father Juliano got irritated of the heated argument.
"Enough bickering... Sir this is a urgent matter. We are visitors nothing more, please let us through."
We walked through the gates of STN-J headquarters even though the property wasn't accessible to the public. The atmosphere of the property was overwhelmed with silence which was a bit sketchy.
"The elevator is over there, I'll let the team know you two are on your way up... Anyways there's nothing really here to be excited about but have fun visiting Robin."
The security guard waved as he walked off to his small office.
"After we reunite with my granddaughter I must bid you farewell even though our meeting was by pure luck. I hope you won't too mad at her for leaving you behind."
Father juliano said as he walked next to InuYasha.
"I wasn't expecting you to stick around Japan for that long old man. Besides you look like a busy man that's about your business. As for Robin... I realized she can be a little complicated sometimes, she told me that people would snap at her just by being herself. In some cases I had to defend her from others as they lose patience with her. I'm a little frustrated but I'm a little worried also... I can't stay mad at her because she's the only witch that I'm tied to that's responsible for my existence in this world."
I sighed for a minute and scratched my dog ears.
"I don't know what Imma say to Robin when she comes back but... It was her cries in the dark I couldn't ignore."
Chapter end
