So much fun with this and the next few chapters. There will be a small time skip from chapter 10 or 11 to the last major plot point before canon and I do plan to do something similar, but different to canon. I also have big plans for Gray coming up, but that is a few more chapters down the track. Kind of hard to see at this point, but Gray is going to become a very important character later on even though right now he is the dirt on Natsu's shoes quite frankly. You've also now seen all of the harem contenders and Kagura will be making her presence felt. I know earlier in the story I said it was kind of an Erza or Erza/Kagura main, but with the way the writing is going, Kagura is really stepping up. Probably still is Erza/Kagura main though, but Erza's parts come later. As an aside, I love that Dimaria became a farmer of all things and will be using that very shortly.

Also, if there are any great fairy tail fics I've missed in the past two years or so, please let me know of them. A lot of the FT fics I was following before COVID blew up aren't being updated any more, and I've only got one author who puts out consistent Natsu/Juvia fics either. If you think of Natsu/Juvia, you have to think about Dark Gothic Lolita frankly. Also, happy for others who want to get started writing on some Fairy Tail fics to ask me for advice. I help you, you give me something to read, I give you something to read, it helps you.

Lastly, there is going to be a slew of FT updates going up on my pat reon shortly, I already have chapter 9 of this story up there, am working on chapter 10 right now, might even do chapter 11 if I find I am trying to pack too much into chapter 10, have 1 and a half chapters for UTRD done for those wanting a single pairing Natsu/Erza fix but still as a blob of text. Then I will need to do an update for ADR before I shuffle back into the Dxd archive for a bit before going back… to the Naruto archive.

Oh, and I made a discord, (here is the link to it, discord. gg/ mgAZ9GGuFG) so join that if you want to chat with myself and other people about my stories or random stuff (the memes channel is woefully underutilised…).

Enjoy.

Natsu, Kagura and Happy returned from their adventure to Alvarez. Natsu decided to step up his training with Kagura in preparation for fiercer enemies, unaware that Alvarez was about to mount an invasion of their own. Ajeel, Dimaria, and Brandish, easily made their way to Ishgar, finding no resistance at all. Brandish would wander off on her own and find Natsu, before explaining that he had set an invasion into motion, which he then left to deal with, leaving Brandish with Kagura and Happy. Meanwhile, Ajeel and Dimaria would head for the capital to take over, only to become side-tracked when numerous Dark Guild members stood in their way.

Chapter 8 – Are you scared of monsters

Dimaria stared at the pink haired swordswoman in front of her.

'I do have my reservations of introducing myself to a foreign invader, but it would not be right for me to not introduce you to your executor. Greetings, my name is Ikaruga of Trinity Raven.' Said Ikaruga.

'Wow, so boring and pretentious. What do you think this is, a period piece?' Mocked Dimaria.

'There is no need to be impolite.' Said Ikaruga with a smile.

'Ufufu, you are actually kind of cute. Talking about manners when I am about to slice you up like sashimi.' Said Dimaria.

'I'm afraid that I don't share many similarities with fish, and should you try to consume me, you will find it a most unpleasant experience.' Said Ikaruga calmly, never letting her smile drop.

'You know what, I feel like a warmup, I would love to slowly peel that ridiculous kimono off you.' Said Dimaria.

'You should not lower yourself to insulting my clothing. It is quite uncouth.' Said Ikaruga.

'So should I talk about your hair then, fairy floss? Do the carpets match the drapes? Maybe I should find out, wouldn't that be a nice show for everyone?' Questioned Dimaria rhetorically.

Ikaruga felt her smile shrink slightly.

'I do not care for crude vulgarity.' Said Ikaruga.

'Good, then I'm done warming up with words, let's warm up with swords now before I end this.' Said Dimaria drawing her large backsword.

'I would normally offer you the first move, but I find your rudeness has stirred me up.' Said Ikaruga, before taking a step and appearing in front of Dimaria in an instant, her katana slicing upwards to bisect the woman.

Dimaria placed her sword in the path of the opposing blade and a loud clang rang out, before a burst of wind blasted from the impact point. Ikaruga wasted no time and fire appeared under her feet, before she spun in a circle, a corresponding circle of fire appearing and expanding outwards, seeking to engulf her opponent, only for Dimaria to disappear, the fire spreading towards some of the bystanders. Dimaria appeared a short distance to the side and Ikaruga frowned.

'So you've deemed me a worthy opponent then?' Asked Ikaruga.

'Whatever made you say that?' Asked Dimaria.

'You retreated. A lion does not fear a sparrow.' Said Ikaruga, regaining her smile again.

'Oh I can't wait to wipe that haughty attitude away.' Said Dimaria, before she clicked her tongue.

Dimaria slowly walked towards Ikaruga and brought her sword down on the pink-haired woman's robe, preparing to slice it open, only for her blade to be knocked aside. Dimaria's eyes widened as a slash was aimed at her, causing her to jump back.

'How did you do that?' Asked Dimaria, before feeling a slash appear on her forearm.

'You are not alone in being able to manipulate the world around you, my sword can cut through space and time.' Said Ikaruga, a beautiful smile on her face.

Dimaria saw red at this point, preparing to unleash one of her most powerful abilities, only for a lacrima to slam into the side of her head.

'Please stop manipulating time, the other fights have now stalled.' Said Ultear, causing Dimaria to gain a manic expression as she slowly combed her fingers through her hair.

'Three! Three of you in less than twenty-four hours. A floating blob, a stick of fairy floss and a no-good demon brother all mocking me. I am going to destroy this stupid continent and bury you all in an unmarked grave. The world will forget you ever existed!' Ranted Dimaria, before an explosion went off behind her and launched her away.

'So you plan to face a man known as the Shinigami, who has mastery over the wind, in the air, alone? You are either very brave or very stupid.' Said Erigor.

'Shinigami, eh? That's nice, but you know there is something even a grim reaper fears... God, and I am The Great Ajeel, a God of this land.' Said Ajeel, before launching out multiple clumps of sand, which turned into a group of pterodactyls.

Erigor watched as half a dozen sand creatures flew at him, before clapping his hands together and pointing his fingers outwards, causing multiple blades of wind to shoot out, meeting the pterodactyls of sand and slicing them to pieces, causing sand to fall from the sky. Erigor then pulled his scythe off his back and started to spin it, with a magic circle appearing in front of him, before a large tornado three metres across appeared and rushed Ajeel.

'You think a little breeze is going to stop me? I. Am. A. GOD!' Screamed Ajeel, before the very earth itself seemed to rise up and whip up a massive sandstorm, which consumed the tornado with little fanfare.

Erigor momentarily balked, before smirking and crossing his arms over his chest, as wind started to swirl around him.

'Storm Mail.' Said Erigor, as he was cloaked in a large mass of swirling wind.

Erigor moved into the mass of sand, parting it in the immediate vicinity around him, much to Ajeel's shock from within the cloud.

'What's wrong, wannabe God? Did you forget that even Gods can fall. Storm Bringer.' Said Erigor, a large magic seal appearing in front of the mass of wind, before a much larger tornado formed, which started tearing through the sand cloud.

Ajeel snarled in anger as the tornado neared his form, sending some sand creatures at Erigor, only for them to be shredded. Ajeel clicked his tongue before pouring his magic into a larger sand construct, creating a giant golem of sand, easily five metres tall and three metres wide. Erigor was impressed at the size of the construct and backed off slightly, only to spot Ajeel was now standing on top of the golem's head.

'Big mistake!' Said Erigor, placing his two index and middle fingers over each other, forming a cross, as numerous magical circles appeared around him, also swirling in a clockwise manner.

'Emera Baram!' Said Erigor, launching a destructive whirlwind of air at Ajeel.

Ajeel smiled and let loose his magical power, causing the very ground itself to rise up and suffocate the attack completely. Erigor was shocked from within his armour of wind, as one of his strongest attacks was rendered completely useless.

'You were a good warm up, but I'm ready to fight for real now.' Said Ajeel, causing Erigor to scowl.

Ajeel's sand started to encroach on Erigor, surrounding his form, with his Storm Mail being the only thing keeping him from being crushed, before a miracle happened and the entirety of the sand turned to glass, followed by a large explosion.

The two muscle bound men stared off at each other. Both faces would be confusing to a regular person, one an owl's head, the other, a blindfolded man with strange scars and markings around his mouth, which made him look like a piranha.

'Ho, ho, evil-doer, I will see to it that you do not commit any further evil deeds as the Warrior of Justice.' Said Fukuro.

'I like that jet pack.' Said Bakel.

'Then experience it firsthand, Jet Ho Ho Hou!' Said Fukuro, blasting forward towards Bakel, his jets propelling him at great speed, his outstretched right hand in front of him, making him appear every bit the superhero he proclaimed himself to be.

Bakel smiled, his teeth showing, before throwing out a fist to meet his opponent. The two attacks clashed, causing a sonic boom to resound. Fukuro seemed to balk at being matched, before swinging his other fist outwards, which was glowing with golden energy. A blast of magical energy came out in a flash and slammed into Bakel's torso, causing him to stumble momentarily, allowing Fukuro to push him back further from their still connected fists, before Bakel lifted his right leg and slammed it on the ground, sending a wave of air pressure out and launching Fukuro back.

'Strong, but not stronger than me.' Laughed Bakel in amusement

'I can see this warrior of evil has gained some power, no doubt, through misdeeds and crimes. I must punish these acts and ensure you do not receive any success here.' Said Fukuro.

'You talk lots.' Said Bakel, before slapping both hands to his pecs, causing another strong wave of air to go out, ruffling Fukuro's feathers.

'Less talk, more fight.' Laughed Bakel, before lunging at Fukuro with a two-handed palm thrust.

Fukuro met the attack, punching out towards each palm with the two attacks meeting in the middle again, but this time, Bakel grabbed on to Fukuro's hands and pivoted, spinning the owl-like man in a circle before releasing him, only for the hybrid man to expel some extra magic from his jets, steadying himself in mid-air. In a move that was a complete shock to Fukuro, Bakel then squatted down and jumped, headbutting the man in the stomach before he could dodge. Fukuro quickly jetted out of the way of the follow-up backfist, only to then shoulder-tackle the man in mid-air and drive him downwards, sending the two crashing into the ground.

'Your evil powers are no match for justice.' Said Fukuro, only for a hand to reach through the dust and palm his face.

'Birds shouldn't fly away when I'm still playing with them.' Said Bakel, before slamming Fukuro into the ground, embedding him into the ground, jetpack and all.

'Go to sleep birdie.' Said Bakel, preparing to slam a superman fist into the owl-man's guts, only for an explosion to knock him off his feet in the nick of time.

'I so wanted a succubus, I don't know what to do without one. It just means I need to kill. Kill, kill, kill, baby!' Screamed Vidaldus.

'I doubt you will find the task so easy. I am Kareem of the Ajeel Squad and we will defeat you and conquer this place.' Said a thin, dark-skinned man, who wore a large turban on his head.

Vidaldus pulled off his guitar and started to strum it gently, before ripping into a heavy metal riff.

'You sure do make a lot of noise.' Sad Kareem.

'I'm just getting hyped up! No succubus means I gotta do things myself! Yeah baby!' Screamed Vidaldus, before his hair rose up and started to spin.

Kareem raised his right hand, preparing to meet the attack head on, only for two lengths of hair to rush him from either side. Kareem ducked backwards, before waving his hands from side to side, then thrust them forward, causing an explosion to go off at Vidaldus' feet.

'Don't wreck my stage.' Said Vidaldus in annoyance, before a high-pitched chord rang out, which brought Kareem to his knees.

Kareem quickly caused an explosion in front of his form, serving the purpose of launching him further back and muffling the sound of the guitar.

'Not bad, you've got some balls.' Complimented Vidaldus, before starting to play a soft rock solo, slowly building up in intensity.

'But rock can't be stopped! Even by actual rocks!' Cheered Vidaldus with a cackle, before multiple sonic booms imbued with rock music rang out, causing fractures to travel through the ground to Kareem's position.

Kareem dodged backwards, before swinging off to the side and rushing straight at Vidaldus, all the while making intricate hand gestures.

'Explode!' Said Kareem, launching a beach ball sized blast of destructive energy at the man, who arched his back so far, the attack went over his entire body, his head now on the rocky ground.

'Got you now!' Said Vidaldus, before tendrils of his hair broke through the ground and wrapped around Kareem's arms and legs.

'Shame you ain't a girl, the things I could do in this position with you… guess I'll just have to settle for driving you mad, baby!' Screamed Vidaldus, playing a death metal song which slowly caused internal damage to Kareem, with blood starting to pour out of his nose, ears and eyes.

Luckily for Kareem, the torture ended with a sudden bang that launched him and his opponent into the air.

As the dust and noise settled down, a small pulsing ball of fire was revealed.

'Sorry I'm late, I really didn't think you would all follow me back here.' Said the man within the fire.

'You again!' Hissed Dimaria.

'You little brat!' Growled Ajeel.

'Now I tried to be nice, but if you are trying to start a war when I'm just trying to find my family, I'm not just going to settle for defending myself. I didn't even try to attack either of you in Alvarez.' Said Natsu.

'My, what a handsome young man. Such ferocity to have brought an entire battlefield to a stop-still.' Said Ikaruga.

Natsu looked at the woman who had spoken, before giving a small sniff and then shook his head, before looking up and spotting Ultear.

'Honestly, what a mess.' Said Natsu, before walking closer to the pair of Ikaruga and Dimaria.

'What's your name?' Asked Natsu curiously.

'My name is Ikaruga.' Said the pink haired woman.

'Well in that case, Ikaruga, and you, stalker lady up there, we need to have a chat after this, but first… Dimaria, right? Didn't I already tell you; I don't want to fight you because I have no intention of killing my brother? I thought I made that clear to that Invel guy.' Said Natsu.

'Invel didn't sanction this invasion, I did!' Said Ajeel, dropping out of the sky a short distance away from Dimaria.

'I already told you I am just looking for Zeref and you two are being a real pain, at least Brandish didn't come to start trouble. Do you know what happens if you actually cause a problem? Let me break it down for you. You fight me, I kill you, Invel comes after me, I kill him, Zeref comes after me and I don't kill him, but we destroy everything around us. Do you see the problem there? No one wins in the end. You don't get what you want, I don't get what I want, and Zeref doesn't get what he wants. This is the last time I'm going to say this now. Turn around, go home, and don't try this again, or my hand will be forced, and I might have to destroy part of Alvarez.' Said Natsu.

'You think you scare us?' Asked Ajeel arrogantly.

'Like this? No. Do you really want to be scared though? Do you want to see a glimpse behind Zeref's magic?' Asked Natsu, the heat in the area rising.

'Bring it!' Shouted Ajeel, instantly summoning a sandstorm which engulfed everyone and a vast distance beyond them in all directions.

'Fine. You asked for this.' Said Natsu, his voice darkening.

It was over in an instant. Horns, scales, blackened flesh and fire, in the centre of it all, a small apparition from hell and then, a peaceful silence. There was no trace of the sand, not even glass. The glass itself had been vaporised. Ajeel dropped to his knees in shock, understanding just how hot those flames must have been to achieve the feat. Everyone else licked their dry lips nervously on both sides. No moisture remained in the air and every droplet of sweat had been removed in an instant.

'Now. I am giving you one last chance, go back to Alvarez and don't ever try this again, or I will stop holding back.' Said Natsu.

Dimaria fell on her butt in shock at this, not knowing how to react. Natsu saw her stricken expression and walked over to her stunned form, so shaken was Dimaria that she didn't even try to run away.

'Now, now, don't be too scared of me, I already told you we will meet again, just in the future. It wouldn't be good if you can't talk to me.' Said Natsu, squatting down in front of Dimaria.

'Y-you're a monster.' Stammered Dimaria.

'So is Zeref, I guess it runs in the family, but if you're going to be part of my family one day, you better learn some humility.' Said Natsu.

'Your family?' Asked Dimaria in disbelief.

Natsu put his index finger to his lips and winked, stunning Dimaria at the abrupt change in tone.

'Natsu! Look at me.' Said Happy, coming to land near the group, easily the size of a three-story building.

'Wow Happy, I knew eating too many fish would be bad for your health.' Said Natsu in amusement.

'I know, I look so cool now.' Said Happy, before he shrunk down, Brandish and Kagura either side of him.

'Now then, I think it is time to say goodbye for now.' Said Natsu, noting Brandish walking over to the group.

'That was overkill, the lake of fish near us dried up. At least they didn't go to waste though.' Said Brandish.

'At least no harm done in the end.' Said Natsu, before feeling a large concentration of magic build up and be released.

'Uh, I hope that was just a warning shot.' Said Natsu.

'Everyone, it is time to go back now.' Said Brandish, enlarging herself to three times her normal height, while shrinking the others down.

'Hey, what gives Randi?' Asked Dimaria, held in Brandish's left hand, while the rest of Ajeel and his fighters were held in her right.

'I'm taking you all back to Invel to deal with.' Said Brandish, causing Dimaria to cry, shout and pound her diminutive hands on Brandish's finger.

'Well, at least she isn't scared anymore.' Commented Natsu.

'I hope we don't run into each other again any time soon.' Said Brandish.

'I'm sure we will eventually, see you then.' Said Natsu, as Brandish shrunk herself back to her normal size and walked away with her shrunken allies.

'So… I know the stalker up there and now Ikaruga, but who are the rest of you?' Asked Natsu.

'I am Shinigami Erigor, how do you not know of me.' Said Erigor.

'I don't get out much.' Said Natsu.

'Ho, ho, I am Fukuro, warrior of justice!' Said Fukuro.

'And I'm Vidaldus Taka, yeah!' Said Vidaldus.

'Hmm, I've never heard of you before.' Said Natsu.

'Natsu. Erigor is the Ace of Eisenwald and those three are Trinity Raven. All of them are trained assassins.' Said Kagura.

'Oh, well, guess that explains why I've never heard of you, I don't need an assassin and I doubt anyone would want to assassinate me.' Said Natsu.

Kagura came to stand next to Natsu, with Happy at her side.

'How disappointing I did not manage to see either of you show your sword skills.' Said Ikaruga.

Kagura eyed the woman and noted her sword. Kagura kept her cool though and looked to Natsu, who shook his head slightly, causing her to relax.

'From what I saw, you didn't get to show off all of your skills too. That is a special sword I take it?' Said Natsu rhetorically.

'Yes, perhaps you will experience it firsthand some time.' Said Ikaruga.

'I doubt it, you and I will be on the same side one of these days.' Said Natsu.

'You are quite bold for such a young man.' Said Natsu.

'Oh, I'm not young, not at all. I guess I am kind of bold, but I'm sure you can figure out how I know that if your sword can cut through time.' Said Natsu, causing Ikaruga to raise an eyebrow.

'Stalker lady! You planning to come down?' Asked Natsu.

'No.' Said Ultear, causing Natsu to laugh.

'Fine, then I'll come up.' Said Natsu, his wings appearing as he leapt into the air to meet her.

'So what are you doing here?' Asked Natsu.

'Just making sure nothing terrible happens of course.' Said Ultear, her legs hanging off the side of the branch she was sitting on.

'If that's the case, why don't you become someone important who can stop things like this from happening?' Suggested Natsu.

'Maybe I will. It seems too many of you are homing in on my gimmick though.' Commented Ultear.

'I doubt I would need to limit myself just to time control. Besides, if I need it, I'm sure I can leave that to you. You already know who and what I am after all.' Said Natsu.

'Who, yes… but after that little show, I have no idea what you are.' Admitted Ultear.

'Well, you'll have to take the time to look into it then, but it isn't hard to figure out.' Said Natsu.

'Then how about we meet in Era later today once things finish up here?' Suggested Ultear.

'Fine, I'll come by a bit later.' Said Natsu.

'Excellent, it's a date then.' Said Ultear, before hopping off the tree and walking away.

'A date?' Muttered Natsu in confusion.

'A date with one hell of an ass at that.' Said E.N.D.

"It's been a while since you said anything, I thought you had already disappeared." Thought Natsu.

'That curvy little thing brought me back from the jaws of life. It looks like you've got a good selection lined up already.' Said E.N.D., skimming Natsu's recent encounters to update himself on the current progress.

"Speaking of." Thought Natsu, before heading back to Ikaruga.

'I guess I never introduced myself to any of you, did I? My name is Natsu Dragneel, I'm the son of the Fire Dragon King Igneel and the little brother of Zeref Dragneel.' Said Natsu.

Erigor gasped in shock, while Trinity Raven looked on curiously.

'Ne, Natsu, why are you telling these four about yourself?' Asked Happy.

'Well, they did just risk their lives to help protect Fiore and I am the reason they had to do it, it's only fair they know why.' Said Natsu.

'Still, is it wise to tell a group of assassins who you are?' Added Kagura.

'Sure. You're all dark guild mages, right?' Asked Natsu.

'Why, are you some snivelling light guild mage?' Asked Erigor defensively.

'Nope, I'm not in any guild and if you guys are dark mages, you would probably want me on your side, since most of you like Zeref, right? Well, pissing off his little brother would probably get you killed.' Said Natsu.

'I did not know Zeref had any family at all.' Said Ikaruga.

'Well, it isn't advertised really. That's my point though, you four know now and so does stalker lady, but all of you want me on your side and I want you on my side too. You see, I'm looking for Zeref and I can only do so much on the good side of things, so a bunch of assassins would be helpful for checking on the other side of things for me.' Said Natsu.

'I'm not going to help; I've got my own goals to deal with.' Said Erigor, walking away in a huff.

'Okay then. Oh, and you're welcome for me saving your life from the sandman.' Said Natsu, causing the mage to grumble, before flying off into the air.

'What about you three?' Asked Natsu.

'I do apologise, but we only take assassination requests.' Said Ikaruga.

'Aw, that sucks. Well, can I least check in with you for updates every now and again? I'm sure you three would hear things I might not get to.' Asked Natsu.

'I'll do it if I can trade you for a succubus.' Said Vidaldus, looking at Kagura.

'No. She's mine.' Said Natsu coldly, causing a chill to go down Vidaldus spine and for Kagura to blush slightly, causing Ikaruga to smile.

'Ho, ho, such intensity. The warrior of justice Fukuro would be happy to help out.' Said Fukuro.

'I will keep my ears open as well.' Said Ikaruga.

'Man, I really wanted a succubus today, I'm zero out of three... I don't have time for listening, you two will do. I won't get in your way.' Said Vidaldus, transforming into a more palatable appearance, now wearing a simple attire consisting of a sleeved shirt, paired with plain armbands, pants, gloves and shoes.

'That's neat, I've got two faces too.' Said Natsu, causing Vidaldus to raise a bushy eyebrow and shrug.

'Actually, can I ask you for a favour?' Asked Natsu, turning to Ikaruga.

'You wish to ask an assassin for a favour?' Asked Ikaruga.

'No, I wish to ask a swordswoman for a favour.' Said Natsu, causing Ikaruga to smile.

'In that case I accept. I assume you need a training partner.' Said Ikaruga.

'Actually, we both do if you don't mind.' Said Natsu, gesturing to Kagura as well.

'Natsu, you can't be serious?' Questioned Kagura, her stoic demeanour breaking at the absurd request.

'Well you need someone who can at least make you believe they might kill you in training. You already know I won't do it. Besides, I want some practice myself and I could never go all out against you either.' Reasoned Natsu.

'I am a little insulted at being reduced to a mere training exercise.' Commented Ikaruga, with a hint of mirth.

'I can make it worth your while I'm sure, just tell me what you want.' Said Natsu.

'I would like to get to know the demon who scorched the earth here. I don't think even Zeref could have made me feel such heat in an instant.' Said Ikaruga.

'Okay, but you'll find he can be quite horny.' Said Natsu as a small pair of horns appeared on his head, which he tapped with his finger, before they disappeared.

'I do enjoy repartee, but perhaps somewhat less vulgar conversation in the future would be preferred. Until next time, I shall seek you out shortly.' Said Ikaruga, before she, along with Fukuro, and Vidaldus, left the area.

'So what now?' Asked Happy.

'Well, since you've already eaten, what do you say to getting something to eat in Era, Kagura?' Asked Natsu.

'Fine, but I need to have a word with you.' Said Kagura.

'About what?' Asked Natsu.

'Apparently that a minor detail is I need to share. I don't like sharing.' Said Kagura, causing Natsu to chuckle and scratch the back of his head.

'Well, at least you've met most of them already.' Said Natsu.

'That doesn't mean I am happy.' Said Kagura.

'Aye, you're not happy, I am.' Said Happy, causing the pair to smile despite the situation.

'That's true, well, let's go and discuss what I need to be happy too then.' Said Kagura.

'All aboard.' Said Natsu, before he lifted off into the air, with Kagura and Happy in tow.
