CHAPTER 1: KANG THE CONQUEROR
Sequel to Wandavision, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness. 3 words altered history. Three words destroyed the multiverse. Three words erased all mutants and the X-Men from existence. Three words created the entire MCU.
This was written in mid 2022 to late 2023, so if there are some inaccuracies it is because some things may be outdated because of current mcu projects that released afterwards or during writing.
Action/Adventure/Fantasy/Tearjerker
This is the start of my interconnected universe of stories. Avengers: Secret Wars part 1 is 31 chapters in length, the rest are follow up stories that connect with it in a big way and eventually Part 2. This takes place after the following MCU projects: Wandavision, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Quantumania, Fantastic Four and Loki S2.
This story is a massive Avengers event by scale, but in essence, it is a very deep character driven journey at its core, as well as setting the stage for Marvel's next Endgame. The part where this story shines with its full glory is with its heart and soul. There are three to four leading roles, but only two is revealed in the description - Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff. This event would change the MCU forever. This story is very loosely inspired by the following amazing comics:
House of M
Secret Wars (2015)
Kang Dynasty
Avengers: The Children's Crusade
Avengers vs X-Men
Story begins here:
The watcher, an immensely powerful multiversal being existing outside of time itself... Observing everything from afar. He swore an oath to never interfere with the natural flow of time, but not too long ago he broke that oath when Ultron got his hands on the infinity stones and began laying waste to multiple universes. The Watcher broke his oath by assembling a team of heroes from across the multiverse to stop him. Now that he already broke his oath, he took it upon himself to protect the multiverse from any threat that emerges.
The Watcher narrating: In the beginning, there was only one. A single black infinitude, then the infinitude found release, and finally, the darkness broke... Filling it with life. Along with creation, the first firmament scattered into infinite pieces, forming... The Multiverse. Every existence multiplied by possibility... and spread out before space and time in infinite measure. Where a single choice can branch out into infinite realities.
Civilization rose, and fell... and rose again accross humanity's grasping expanse. Life... A precious gift, persevering in the face of every obstacle, until finally the age of heroes was born... Chaos, the constant enemy of life, kept at bay by champions from accross the multiverse. Joining forces to fight on behalf of all creation, they found each other just in time. Because now the entire multiverse is about to come under attack... I am The Watcher, I observe all that transpires here.

In the far future
At this point you must think you've seen it all, but what I'm about to show you is something so extreme, even I struggle to have the stomach to watch these events unfold. Mostly because of my fear and uncertainty of what may lie ahead. I fear that these events that are about to unfold in front of you could mean the destruction of everything. Ultron with the infinity stones was one thing, but this... This is a VERY different threat... Earth, the 31st century, a dark desolate world. A world of pain, suffering and death. Ruled by none other than Kang the Conqueror, the most ruthless, fearsome tyrant to have ever existed on any universe.
Unrivaled and unchallenged in his intellect and power. He has done what no other person in history could, not only has he conquered the entire planet, he has managed to conquer the entire Galaxy. But the biggest threat to all of existence was still at hand...
(everything written in italic is the writer narrating, not the watcher)
New York in the 31st century. Everything looked normal and very advanced at first, but there were flying drones everywhere and robots patrolling the streets searching for mutant life forms. Mutants are humans who had an evolution in their DNA, giving each one a unique "superpower". Inside the sewers there were more drones patrolling. One of the drones suddenly bumped into something, but there was nothing in front of it to bump into.
"Scanning for mutant life forms... No life forms detected."
Suddenly an invisible man made himself visible and jumped on top of the drone and destroyed it with a highly advanced weapon that turned it into ash, but there was another drone right behind it that saw the mutant. Usually there were not more than one drone patrolling this area.
"Mutant life form identified, target locked."
Before the man could react, the drone executed him. The drone then teleported the man's corpse away. The corpse appeared in a giant laboratory full of mutant corpses. There were scientists, robots, drones and also living humans inside cells. Some scientists are seen dissecting hundreds of mutant corpses while others are busy creating serums and using humans who broke Kang's laws as test subjects.
The majority of the mutant population was killed by Kang's forces during the most devastating war in the history of planet Earth, the 7th World War. The war that made Kang the ultimate ruler of Earth before setting his sight on the rest of the universe. This war became known as the Descimation. Before the 7th World War, the mutant population was more than 70% of human life, now they are less than 5%. These 5% are mostly using their abilities to hide and survive. The world population was at an all time low with just over a billion humans and a couple million mutants across the globe. Some time later, Kang grew an obsession with the mutant gene and began experimenting on mutants around the world in hopes of finding a cure to mortality. In doing so he inadvertantly discovered the key to time travel as well as multiversal travel.
After accessing the multiverse, he sought out to take over every universe to have ever existed across all of time and space. But there were two problems that stood in the way of Kang and total control, incursions and other versions of himself. By opening up the multiverse it damaged the barriers between worlds, allowing for an infinite amount of other Kangs throughout the multiverse to discover the multiverse as well and all of them sought out to achieve the exact same goal, to control the multiverse. This sparked the biggest war that has ever happened and will ever happen in the history of existence, the Multiversal War.
Every variant of Kang and his entire army throughout their respective universes fighting for control, causing the multiverse to decend into madness. What followed was death, destruction and incursions everywhere throughout all of time and space... This war of course grabbed the attention of all those who you call heroes and even the villains from every universe in the multiverse, soon every infinite version of those heroes from across the multiverse joined the fight. Many different versions of The Avengers, the X-men, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, New Avengers, Thunderbolts, Defenders, Young Avengers, Wakanda, Atlantis, Xandar, the Skrulls, the Kree Empire, Eternals, Celestials, Thanos and even the Watchers joined this Multiversal War that spanned throughout all of existence.
Inevitably one version of Kang came out on top and annihilated every single universe that had other variants of himself. He saw the chaos unfold for years and came to the conclusion that he himself, Kang the Conqueror and every single variant of himself are the biggest threat to all creation. By harnessing the power of Allioth, a being created from all the tears in reality, this Kang isolated one single timeline consisting of one single universe, a universe where mutants did not exist anymore. (Also erasing the X-Men from existence) (This was the creation of the MCU, the Marvel Cinematic Universe that started with Iron Man 1 back in 2008. This was the reason for the absence of the X-Men in this reality.)
Kang made sure that no branch would ever form again in this new timeline with a bureaucracy known as the TVA, short for the Time Variance Authority. Ultimately preventing the multiverse from existing. The Watcher: This Kang spent eons isolated outside the timestream and became known as He Who Remains.
Or at least... that is what I thought happened. More recently I was overwhelmed with a feeling that something is not right with existence... That was when I started to remember everything that I just told you. To my surprise I made a shocking discovery that Kang was a puppet all along. He was being controlled by a higher being who influenced every decision he made that lead to the creation of this new timeline. A timeline without mutants. A timeline that was never supposed to exist. (This is the most important plot line in the entire book. A flashback to what really happened and who did it, is revealed later in the story)
I do not know this being. I wish I did. I believe whoever this being is, their power exceeds my own because I can not seem to remember what happened, I can not remember who did it and I can not remember why they did it, what I do know is that not too long ago the multiverse was reborn when two variants of Loki went to the end of time.
The female Loki Variant known as Sylvie killed He Who Remains for good, but this could set off an endless cycle of events which in theory could inadvertantly cause the same multiversal war to happen once again, and I fear it has already started.
