Chapter 84: The Ogres:
Erika's POV:
I was reading about mythical creatures. I figured that could come in handy when dealing with actual mythical creatures. Then Drake grabs my book.
"I haTte to be the one to disappoint you," says Drake, "but this book would tell you nothing."
"I thought it could help."
"Don't believe everything you read. Trust me."
The Director then comes in. "You're needed in Latveria."
. . .
We arrived in Latveria, home of the famous supervillain, Dr. Doom.
"Okay team," says Jack, "let's look around for anything out of the ordinary."
"We seem to have intruders!" We all look at M.O.D.O.K., head of A.I.M. and former member of the Red Skull's Cabal and Abomination, enemy of Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.
"You guys work for Doom now," asks Miko.
"You have a problem with that," asks Abomination.
"We're just looking around," says Jack.
M.O.D.O.K. traps us in an energy bubble.
"Let's take them to Doom," says Abomination.
"You do not give M.O.D.O.K. orders!"
. . .
We were in Doom's castle.
"Look, your lordship," I said, "we're just here..."
"Because of the creatures I have hired."
"You mean M.O.D.O.K. and Abomination," asks Miko.
"I mean this group." Then a group of creatures show up.
"They're ogres," says Drake, "rapacious, bestial giants. They ae closely relaTted to trolls and ae distantly relaTted to the vaious races of giants. The "runts" of the giant litter, they possess little moe than feal instincts and bruTte strength, and they revel in the abuse of things smaller than themselves like cruel children."
"So, why are they working for Doom," asks Sunset.
"Ogres ae quiTte maTteialistic, and ae apt to work as mercenaies for treasue - especially anything shiny."
"And Doom's got to have plenty of that," says Miko.
"These ogres are willing to do what I say... for the right price and I plan to unleash them on New York."
"Not if I have anything to say about it," says Drake as he rolls his dice, but when he rolls a three, the ogres get armored up.
"Ooh, this armor goes with my eyes," says an ogre, "I mean, it makes me manly!"
"Nice try," says Doom, "send them away!"
. . .
We're now locked in a dungeon.
"We need a way out," says Steel.
"We need to stop Doom," says Jack.
I then look at the ogres that were guarding up. "Hey, Miko, Sunset, and I were talking about how we think you're kind of cute."
The ogres are disgusted.
"Fun fact," says Drake, "we're ugly to them."
"Thanks for bringing us into it," says Miko as she and Sunset were not happy about my attempt.
"I have a better idea." Drake then casts a spell, and the ogres start attacking each other. "I made then see each other as Venger. Long story."
I then took a key.
. . .
Doom was preparing his ogre army.
"Drake, get to work," I said. Drake then tries rolling the dice, but Doom blasts the dice.
"Attack," says Doom.
We ended up fighting off the ogres. I then went for the dice, but M.O.D.O.K. got in my way, so I blasted him. An Abomination tries to attack me, but Ra-Vu grabs him. I then grabbed the dice and started rolling them. They were about to land on six, but I used my power to cheat, and they were on twelve. The ogres were then all banished.
"You will pay for..." Steel knocks out Doom.
"Let's go," says Steel.
. . .
We were back at the base. Drake hands me a book.
"What's this," I asked.
"I think this will give you real knowledge of the creaTtues of my world," says Drake.
"Hey, I kind of cheated," I said, "is that okay?"
"What was quiTte it about to land on," Drake asks.
"A six."
"Then it is very much okay." Drake then walks away.
In the next chapter, the team deals with a phoenix, not the one that was originally a roc.
