Enter the Survival Horror Chapter 8
They head past where they've found Rebecca and Richard, arriving at the shield door. Bec unlocks it, but before she opens it, Chris lays a hand on her shoulder.
She looks back at him, "When the snake appears, I'll distract it and you get the mask." he tells her.
Bec nods and they head in, seeing dust and cobwebs everywhere, as they walk to where the mask is, the snake appears. Chris is shocked by how big Yawn was, but gets over it and shoots at it with his hand gun.
"Bastard! I'll make you pay for what you did to Richard!" Chris shouts, moving as he shoots at Yawn.
Bec grabs the mask and runs back to the door, however the snake was smarter than it let's on. It whacks Chris with it's tail, surprising him, and it goes after Bec. Bec dodges it's mouth but it gets her with it's tail.
Bec falls over, dropping the mask. Yawn tries again to eat her, but just as it got close, Chris, who had recovered, shot at it. Bec gasps as she felt something sharp hit her arm.
Yawn decided it had enough of the pain that Chris was inflicting on it and leaves through a hole in the ceiling.
"You all right?" he asks.
"I think so. Let's leave before Yawn comes back." Bec said, grabbing the mask she dropped.
They leave the room and head back into the pillar room, where they see a zombie and Chris kills it, head shot. "Bec, why didn't you-" Chris turned to see her and ask her why she didn't tell him about the zombie, when he takes her in.
She was pale and she looks like she was going to be sick at any moment. She falls forward and he catches her before she hits the ground. "What's wrong?!" Chris asked.
Bec doesn't reply, Chris then sees a hole from where her sleeve is and blood was coming out. "Damn!" Chris realizes that Yawn had poisoned her, with it's fang.
He picks her up, bridal style. "Chris.. I can still walk." Bec finally gets out, in pain, as Chris kicks open the door and heads left.
"You need to be faster than that." he said, kicking the double doors open. He then runs to the west side doors kicking them open. He gets Bec back to the medical storage room.
Richard was sitting up on the bed, he and Rebecca are surprised when Chris kicks the door open, but see that Bec wasn't doing well.
Richard gets up and Bec is placed in the bed. Rebecca cuts off the sleeve and gives Bec a shot of serum, once Chris told her that the snake got her. Then she wraps the wound.
After a moment Bec feels better, "Thank you Rebecca." she said. She sits up.
"Are you sure you should be up?" Chris asks, as Bec gets to a standing position.
"Yeah, I'll be fine now." she said, a little wobbling.
"Rebecca, can I please have those scissors?" Bec asks, holding out her hand.
Puzzled, Rebecca gives Bec the scissors and Bec cuts off the other sleeve. "I prefer balance." she said, handing the scissors back to her.
"Chris we should get back to the c corridor." she said, mindful that Richard is in the room.
"Maybe you should stay here." Richard suggests. Bec was shaking from her experience with poison and they all could see it.
"I'll be fine Richard. You need to rest some more." Bec said, going over to Chris. 'I need to keep things moving.. I can't break yet.'
"She's right Richard. You need more rest before you go back out." Rebecca said, sharing a wink with Bec and Chris.
"Yeah, you shouldn't push yourself." Chris said.
".. Ok, I'll stay here for now." he said, sitting back on the bed.
"Rebecca.. Did Barry happen to come here?" Bec asks.
"No. I haven't seen him or the others." she said.
"Barry is being that stubborn? When we run into him again, I'll give him a lecture." Chris said.
Inwardly, Chris was puzzled. He didn't understand why Barry didn't come see Rebecca.
"Do you have the mask?" Bec asks Chris. Bec knew Barry was going around, destroying evidence. He must fear that if he stops, Wesker may hurt his family.
"Yeah, I grabbed it before I picked you up." he said, grabbing it from his belt.
"Good. Let's go." Bec said. She and Chris leave the room and head back to the c corridor.
They unlock the double doors and head in to see armors of different styles all throughout the room. "What is the order?" Chris asks upon remembering that the suits have to be moved in a certain order.
Bec tells him what to push first and when the first three suits are pushed, the last one goes into place by itself. The bars then move from there spot, freeing the box in the wall, which Chris grabs.
He brings it over to Bec and she gets it open, they get the third mask. "We need one more, but we're stopping in the three small rooms, first." Bec said, putting all three mask in the bag.
"Right, let's move." Chris said.
They leave the room for the west stairway and get to the door, with the armor symbol on it. They head in, where they see the deer head and a red herb, which Bec mixes in with a green herb and they head right.
They look around to grab an herb and the last old key. Then they go across the deer room and use an old key to unlock the door, of course it breaks.
They see a fish tank in this room and Bec gets the researcher's will, she sees that Barry had not been in this room, because the will was intact. Chris comes over to her, upon seeing her with the paper.
Researcher's Will June 3, 1998
My dearest Alma,
Let me first apologize for not being able to call you. A man wearing sunglasses didn't permit any phone calls. Sorry Alma.
I sit here trying to think of where to begin, of how to explain in a few simple words all that's happened in my life since we last spoke, and already I fail. I hope this letter finds you well, and that you'll forgive the tangents of my pen; this isn't easy for me.
Even as I write, I can feel the simplest of concepts slipping away, lost to feelings of despair and confusion - but I have to tell you what's in my heart before I can rest. Alma, please believe that what I'm telling you is the truth. The entire story would take hours for me to tell you, and time is short, so accept these things as fact: last month there was an accident in the lab and the virus we were studying leaked.
All my colleagues who were infected are dead or dying, and the nature of the disease is such that those still living have lost their senses. This virus robs its victims of their humanity, forcing them in their sickness to seek out and destroy life. Even as I write these words, I can hear them, pressing against my door like mindless, hungry animals.
Alma, I have tried to survive only to see you again. But my efforts only delayed the inevitable; I am infected, and there is no cure for what will follow - except to end my life before I lose the only thing that separates me from them.
My love for you.
In an hour I'll have entered my eternal sleep where there is peace. Please understand. Please know that I'm sorry.
Martin Crackhorn
After reading it, Chris said, "Marcus was the one who caused the accident, but these people... they brought it upon themselves by doing something so dangerous.. but reading this tells me, that there may have been a lot more at stake."
"Your probably right." Bec says, putting away the paper, "This man's wife may have been used against him, forcing him to do this terrible work. Or maybe he did because they were going beyond rules and regulations regrading ethnics."
".. Still if they were forcing him, he should've gone to the police." Chris said.
Bec shakes her head, "That's not as easy as it sounds. When a person cares about his wife or family, their priorities change to protecting them. Often, they'll do whatever is necessary to protect them." she said.
'Like Barry.' Bec thinks over that situation.
"Umbrella is a company, that has it's hands in every corner of the world, who clearly has been doing illegal human experimentation and other things. They should have more than money at their disposal, say paramilitary groups, like the one me and Rebecca saw. They can be used to get rid of people and their families, without drawing attention." Bec said.
"Tell me Chris, do you have family? Imagine what you would do to keep them safe." Bec finishes.
Chris thinks 'If Umbrella were to take Claire, just to make sure I don't talk about them.. I would try- no wait that wouldn't work... Bec's right. Going against a company like Umbrella won't be easy.'
Chris hated to admit it, but if Claire was being used against him...
".. Where do we go next?" he asks, changing the subject.
"There should be something in the east storage room, so we'll head there first. Then we'll get the second shotgun from the living room. Lastly, we'll open that armor door that's across the hall from the stair way." Bec tells him.
"But first.." Bec grabs the hook, lure and bee specimen, from the displays. She connects the hook to the lure and places it in the lure display.
She turns to Chris, "Once I place this bee in the display and press the button underneath it, it will come back alive." she said.
"Ok. Get down once it's alive." Chris said, holding his gun.
Bec places the bee where it goes and presses the button, revealing the wind crest from behind a piece of wall. The bee came back to life and Bec ducks, Chris shoots at it, killing it.
Standing back up, Bec grabs the crest. "What's that for?" Chris asks, once she turns around and shows him it.
"It will help us get a magnum." she said, putting it away.
"That would be helpful in this place." Chris said. He could see that is might be awhile before they get it.
They leave the room and get back to the first floor, where they find a note.
"It's from Wesker. He says that he left first aid sprays and ammo for us, inside." Chris said. He was relieved Wesker was all right.
".. Let's get the stuff." Bec said. She knows that Wesker did this, to keep Chris in the data gathering and to keep him from suspecting him.
'I can't say anything right now, Chris may now know I know things.. but Wesker is someone he respects, at this time.' Bec knew it would take actual proof before Chris believes her.
They head in and grab the stuff Wesker left them. They then head for the living room and swap the broken shotgun for the working one. As they leave, they hear the windows break in the corridor.
"Run for it!" Chris said as Bec opens the door to the corridor.
Bec runs to the double doors and throws them open, Chris shoots at the zombies. They head through the threshold and slam the doors shut, they pant.
".. Thankfully, the doors... have to be opened the other way." Chris said.
"Yeah.. Let's get the door open." Bec said, once they recovered.
They get over to the door and Bec unlocks it, they head in. They look up upon hearing crowing. Bec goes over to the portrait that needs to be changed first, by pressing the button underneath it.
"They won't attack us?" Chris asks, remembering what happened to Forest and has his handgun out.
"Not unless we attack them first and if we linger here." Bec said, getting the first portrait green.
She heads over to the second one. "I believe that's why they attacked Forest. He lingered too long on the patio." she said, changing the colors.
When the second one was done, she turns the corner and Chris follows her, to the third picture and changes it to the appropriate color.
Bec then heads over the last portrait and presses the button and the wall goes, revealing a way outside and the last mask. Chris picks it up and Bec uses the last old key to unlock the gate, like all the others, it breaks.
Bec opens the gate and Chris grabs her by the shoulder, she looks at him. "Are you sure whatever the 'great evil' is, we can't avoid it?" he asks. He was concerned for her safety.
"If we could, that would be great, but we have to. A crimson head is what is inside that coffin, the one we faced in the mirror hall. The only difference is that one in the coffin is a prototype, but it can't be underestimated. And there is something in that coffin that we need in order to move forward." Bec tells him.
"..Ok, I'll keep it's attention, you focus on defense as you attack it." Chris said, letting go of her. He knew he couldn't let her out of his sight and something told him, that telling her to go to Rebecca, would not work.
"Ok, I'll use the shotgun. You use the grenade launcher. One last thing, bars will trap us down there until the crimson head is dead." she said, heading past the gate.
They head down the steps into the crypt once more and place the masks on the appropriate place. As they add a mask, the chains release the coffin as well as blood, much to Chris' shock and disgust.
Then when the last mask was placed, the coffin fell and revealed the crimson head. Chris readies the grenade launcher and Bec the shotgun as the bars come down, trapping them inside.
The crimson head gets up and starts moving, Chris shoots at it. It goes after him and Bec fires a shot at it. It continues for about three shots for Bec and four shots for Chris, but the zombie goes down for good.
With it dead, the bars go up and they check over the coffin. Chris grabs the hand mags and Bec gets the stone and metal object.
"What does it do?" Chris asks, upon seeing it.
"That basement lab, that both the keeper and researcher, were talking about, is underneath this place. This is one of four keys needed to get there. We need another one of these, as well as a gold and silver medallion. However, we need the helmet key in order to get the rest of them." Bec said.
"This can unlock a set of gates, which is right behind the main hall stairs, but we need it's mate in order for them to open." Bec finishes.
"Where is the helmet key?" he asks.
"In the residence and this will help us get there. We can take that door, by the emblem door." she said.
"Shouldn't we let Rebecca know that we are leaving?" he asks.
"I told Rebecca about the place, remember? She knows we'll be heading there." she said. 'Hopefully, Richard will have a different ending.'
"Ok. Let's go." Chris said.
They head back through the portrait all and arrive at the door leading outside. "There will be a Cerberus dog as we go pass some bushes." Bec tells him.
"Ok." Chris readies himself and they go outside. The dog jumps out as they pass and they blow it away.
They continue to walk to the end of the passage, where Chris tries the door and discovers it's locked. Bec then puts the stone and metal object in the indentation by the door and it unlocks.
"Aren't you going to grab it?" Chris asks.
"No, it needs to stay there to keep this door unlocked." Bec said, heading into the garden shed.
They look around and find another grenade launcher, shotgun ammo, a battery pack, a flash grenade and first aid spray. They put them where they need to go, be it backpack or on their person.
Chris then tries to go to the big doors, when Bec stops him. "We can't go this way just yet." she said.
"Why?" he asks.
"We need a crank to get to the residence, not to mention dogs, snakes, and crows, are on the route there." Bec said.
"Then the crank we need is through the other door?" he asks.
"Yes, but there will be crows, one zombie, and something else." she said. 'Lisa is that way..'
"Let's go then." he said and they head over to the single door, opening it.
They find themselves outside with no rain, Chris checks out the old sign post. "What do you make of it?" he asks.
"It's a way of telling you where to go on the grounds, but the caves are off limits for the time being." Bec said.
They walk down the path, with Bec stopping at the red wind vane and stopping it on the west sign. "What's that do?" Chris asks.
"At the end of this muddy path, there is a gate that can only be unlocked by stopping the weather vines in a certain direction. Before we get to the second one, there will be a call." Bec said.
When they reach hallway to where the second weather is, Wesker's voice is heard, "Someone respond." he orders with static strong.
"Wesker?!" Chris tries to get a better signal, but it was no use.
"A monster in chains.. don't resist... Stay away... forest outside the mansion.. Retreat.." was all that came from the radio, before the connection cuts.
"Damn! It's lost the signal." Chris says, "Bec... We don't have a choice do we? We have to go this way and face the monster."
"Yes, we have to go this way in order to keep going, but we will be evading and dodging the monster. We have nothing on us that can kill it, nor can it be killed." she tells him.
'The reason why Wesker gave the call, was to make sure that the STARS would remain alive, but I doubt he thought anyone would have to take this path... Lisa..' Bec feels sorry for the poor girl, who Umbrella had abused over and over.
"Let's move." Chris said, snapping her out of her thoughts.
They get to the second weather vine and Bec has it stop on the north direction, they hear a faint click, from the gate. They walk down to the gate, Bec speaks, "There will be crows in this graveyard, but they should be like the ones we saw in the portrait hall and as long as we don't run. Also the magnum I talked about earlier is there as well."
Bec takes out the wind crest and Chris readies his handgun, "I'll cover for you, should the crows come after us." he said.
They head past the gates and see the crows perched on the head stones. Moving slowly they get over to the first big headstone and Bec puts in the wind crest. Part of the stone turns, revealing the three crests.
Bec takes them and presses their hidden buttons, taking them over to the second one. She places them where they go and they reveal the magnum. She takes it and places it in her pack.
Chris agreed with what she is doing, 'Bec said that nothing works on the monster and there most likely isn't enough magnum ammo. We best use it when it's a different monster.'
They then leave the graveyard for the other set of gates, breathing with relief. "What now?" Chris asks.
"There's a cabin, at the end of this path. In there is the crank and evidence. Let's keep an eye out for the zombie." she said. Just as they move, they hear chains and moaning. Bec signals Chris to keep as quiet as possible.
They go along the path, keeping an eye on the trees and shrubbery, when the zombie comes out from behind a tree in the clearing. It grabs Bec, who then grabs a battery pack and kills it with it.
"It won't come back as crimson head, will it?" Chris asks.
"I doubt it. The battery pack is like fire, it fried it." Bec said.
They move, eventually reaching the cabin and head in. Chris looks around and sees that someone had been living here, 'the monster most likely'. He sees dirty bandages near the fireplace.
He hears creaking and sees Bec on the stairs, grabbing a map. "You need that?" Chris asks. He knows that if Bec knew this place, then a map isn't needed.
"It's evidence." Bec said, heading into the next room. Chris follows her.
They see a bed that had clearly been used and Bec grabs a picture as well as notes. They read them.

"So they experimented on Trevor's family? Why?" Chris was confused as to why Umbrella went that far.
"Loose ends. Trevor may have created this place, but Umbrella, in particular Spencer, wanted to make sure that this place remained a secret. So, they took him and his family here and experimented on them." Bec said.
"That's terrible.. " Chris said. 'If I were to tell Claire anything like this.. would that give them reason to go after her?' Chris realizes he had answered his own question.
"The crank is in the back." Bec said. They head to the back and right on top of a board was the crank. Bec grabs it and Chris tries to lift up the board, curious as to what was beneath it, but it was too heavy.
".. Chris, we will run into the monster. As we try to leave." Bec tells him. She reluctantly keeps quiet about the caves being underneath it. 'I don't think the elevator's working and I can't say if Enrico is there.'
"All right." Chris said, remembering the plan. They were to dodge and evade it.
As they get back to where the bed is, they hear a door shut. They creep along and see Lisa go past the entrance to the cabin. "Stay here." Chris whispers to Bec and he goes forward.
Bec stays by the bed and winces as she watches Lisa club Chris over the head, knocking him out. Lisa then drags him down the steps and places him in front of the fire place.
Bec reluctantly gets ready to shoot her, just in case she has enough time to attack him, but a noise is heard from outside, startling them both. Lisa then leaves to go outside and check what it was.
Bec waits until the door is shut and quickly gets to Chris' side. "Come on Chris, wake up! We got to go." Bec said urgently, shaking him.
He groans as he starts coming to and Bec hears the door opening. Chris finally sits and they both see Lisa come in, groaning and jangling her chains.
Chris gets to his feet and places himself in front of Bec. "When she swings, we run." Bec whispers to him. Chris nods.
Lisa takes a swing at them, they dodge and bolt from the cabin. They run until they get back to the garden shed, panting heavily.
Once they recover, Chris turns to her. "Bec, you called it a she. Was it Lisa Trevor?" he asks her, remembering the notes they found.
".. That was Lisa. Umbrella kept her alive for research purposes for decades, many viruses they made came from her. Until recently, they had decided to get rid of her and they thought they finally did. They kept watch over her body for three days." Bec said.
"I see... Sounds like she's practically indestructible. No wonder you said weapons won't work on her." Chris said, disappointment clear. He was upset Bec didn't tell him the monster was Lisa.
".. I'm sorry I didn't tell you she was the monster that Wesker talked about." Bec apologizes.
"It's ok. Given how she looks and what she went through, she probably thinks that we're enemies." Chris said. 'That girl was put through hell and back.'
"Sadly, your right. She's broken mentally as well as physically, but please don't shoot at her, she's been through enough pain." Bec asks.
"Your right, that girl has been tortured enough, but she'll clearly be on the attack. I promise I won't shoot at her, unless it's necessary." he promises.
"Thank you. Now we can go through those doors, but there will be three dogs out there as well as a transmission, but like before, you won't get to answer." Bec said, bringing out her shotgun.
"Right." he said readying his shotgun. They head out through the doors and a signal is heard. "STARS Alpha team.. This is Brad.. please respond!" Brad's voice comes in.
"This is Chris." he tells him, bringing the radio to him.
"Again, it's Brad.. Please answer!.. It doesn't matter which team... Please let me know where you are! I repeat.. This is Brad-" the connection gets cut off.
"Brad!.. Damn it! It's broken!" he said, putting away the radio.
"Brad has no idea where we are. He obviously didn't hear me." Chris said, frustrated.
"Nothing we can do. Let's move." Bec said.
They get rid of the dogs, but not without scratches. Bec uses some herbs on them and they head through the gates.
They see water, where they are suppose to cross, and see where the crank goes. Chris takes the crank from Bec, placing it in it's spot and turns it. The water goes away as the dam goes up and they hear the sound of a waterfall nearby.
They get across the bridge that had appeared and take the lift down. Before they exit off, Bec speaks, "There are crows in this area and in the next one, snakes that will try to fall on us. We're better off running until we reach the residence."
"Ok." Chris said, holding his hand gun. He would cover Bec, if needed.
They run to the gates and get pass them before the crows get them. They continue to run, avoiding the snakes that drop and reach the residence. They slam the door as they get inside.
They pant, "We got here in one piece, now we have to get the helmet key." Chris said.
"It will take a moment, we have to through all these rooms, before we get there." Bec said, recovered.
"We'll also have to go back later, at the waterfall area, but let's stay focused here." Bec said.
"Ok, where to?" Chris asks.
"We grab a blue herb over here." Bec said, pointing across from where the entrance.
"Then we go through the first door on the right to grab a couple of things, and lastly, we head through some double doors. In that room, there is healing herbs, a book and giant spiders called Web Spinners." Bec finishes.
"Great. I never liked spiders." Chris said, readying his grenade launcher.
"I'm not too fond of them either, but we have to move forward." Bec said, moving to grab the blue herb.
When she grabs it, she mixes it with other herbs. They head down the hall, to the door on their right and head in. They find a gas can, a battery pack and a flash grenade.
Chris takes the grenade and Bec makes sure her canister is full and grabs he battery pack. As they leave the room, Chris sees a door across the hall. "I take it that door is locked?" he asked.
"Yes, but we'll get the key soon." Bec said.
They reach the double doors and Bec speaks, "One of the Web Spinners will come down as the doors, no sooner than we enter."
"Thanks for the heads up." Chris said, opening the doors.
They head in, the Web Spinner comes down from the wall and Chris gets rid of it. Bec grabs the green herb, in the closet part of the room and makes it into powder.
"Stay away from their fangs and green blood, these spiders are poisonous." Bec tells him, motioning him to come over to another corner.
"Not surprised by that." Chris said, coming over to where she is. He sees a candle and takes out his lighter, lighting it. Bec then sniffs it, "Basic rose? They may have been making their own candles after all." she said.
"What about the silhouette?" Chris asks upon seeing it.
"It deals with a locked door that requires a code. The code is random, I'm just curious if these candles have a smell." Bec answers.
"I see. Let's get the rest." he said. They go near the down stairs area and they see the other spider, above the area. Chris shoots at it until it was dead, they then grab the book and the first aid box.
Bec opens it and they get a green/blue herb mix and Chris lights the green candle, surprising Bec. He sniffs and makes a face, "I think they were trying to make a green apple one, but I don't think they did a good job." he said.
Bec giggles at his face, a smile. "You look so pretty when you smile." Chris said without thinking, moving away from the candle.
Bec blushes, "Thank you.." she said before looking away. 'It has been awhile.. since I was complicated like that.'
'Seriously, Chris? Now is not the time for flirting.' he scolds himself.
"There should be one more candle. Want to check it out?" Bec asks, turning back to look at him.
"Sure. We need something to keep us sane here." he said.
Bec heads up the stairs and goes to the right with Chris following her. They find the third candle in the pool area and Chris lights it. It smelled like oranges and Bec takes a quick look at the billiard balls, before they leave.
"Chris, we need to push this create with the others in the hall." Bec said, once they shut the doors. The create is in front of them.
"What for?" he asks.
"Remember that plant we saw back in the green house? That was it's roots, but here, it has vines that can help protect it as far as here. There's one vine in the hole by the set of crates." she said.
"Ok, so by using this one crate, we can climb over the rest of them and get past the vine safely. I understand." he said.
He then starts pushing the crate. As he pushes, Bec looks over Chris' backside appreciatory.
Chris gets it to connect with the other creates and the climb over, with Chris going first. Then they head past the door and find themselves in the central corridor. Bec heads past the gallery and Chris follows, realizing it was locked.
Bec then opens the door to room 002 and they head in. "Chris, a zombie will come in a moment." Bec said, grabbing the papers on the bed.
"Right." he said, turning to the door, armed. The zombie stumbles in and Chris blows it's head off.
He then goes over to Bec's side and reads the papers she got.
PLANT 42 REPORT
Four days have passed since the accident. The plant at Point 42 is growing at an amazing rate.
Although there are many unknown aspects about this plant, we know that in comparison with the other group of plants, the T-Virus has had a substantially stronger affect on this one.
The T-Virus has drastically morphed its host's anatomy as well as its size. Looking at its current state, it's difficult to imagine its original appearance. Nowhere on Earth will you find anything like it.
We've also found that PLANT 42 has two main sources of acquiring its necessary nutrients. One source is through its root. Somehow it has rooted itself down into the basement.
Immediately after the accident, a scientist went mad and destroyed the Aqua Ring. Ever since, the basement has been like a pool. There is a high possibility that it's one of the chemicals in the water that's promoting the PLANT 42's rapid growth.
However, we have yet to determine the specific chemical.
A bulb-like body of the PLANT 42 has been sighted hanging from the ceiling of the first floor. We are sure that it used the air ducts to reach the first floor. Numerous long tentacle-like vines are protruding from the bulb.
We believe the vines are the second means of acquiring its nutrients. When the PLANT 42 senses prey, it uses the tentacle-like vines to capture its prey. After doing so, suckers on the vine drain the prey of its blood.
We've also noticed that it has some intelligence. When it captures its prey or when it's inactive, the vines twine around the door to stop possible intruders.
Unfortunately, several of our scientists have already fallen victim to this PLANT 42. When we heard the stories from the survivors, they all observed one thing in common:
When the uniform petal-like flaps open and reveal its vital internals, it has a tendency to become more aggressive.
One witness reported that it was as if it was trying to protect itself. Why it behaves the way it does is still unknown.
May 21, 1998 Henry Sarton
"This is the plant you were talking about ." he said, as she puts it away.
"Yeah, but we don't have access to the chemicals just yet. Let's go to the bathroom." she said, fixing her backpack.
They head in and Bec searches the shelves for the key, taking it once she sees it.
"Now we have to head back to the door 001. That's where this key goes and there's evidence in that, as well as a key for the aqua ring in it's bathroom." Bec said.
"Let's go." Chris said. They make their way back, however.. Bec gets lost in thought and doesn't pay attention as the where she was stepping and slid. She tries to regain her balance, once she realized she was falling.
Chris sees this and tries to help, but they both end up on the floor. Chris lands on top of her, his face in between her breasts.
"Chris.." Bec growls out.
Chris snaps his head up and gets off of her, "I'm so sorry, Bec! It was an accident!" he defends himself.
"It better be or so help me I'll get you." Bec said, getting back up.
As Bec dusts herself off, Chris thinks '.. she is so soft.'
They make their way back to the other side of the residence and Bec unlocks the door.
They head in and see a body dangling from the ceiling. "What happened?" Chris asks as he and Bec edge around it.
"He committed suicide. He most likely thought he was infected and hanged himself, before he changed. Unfortunately, once the virus enters you, you start changing, slowly but surely." Bec said, grabbing the self defense guns and note.
"Right then." Chris said, shooting the body in the head and making sure it was no longer a threat.
He then goes over to Bec and reads the note.

I had to do it. We ran from those things - helping each other to survive. But Robert started to show the symptoms. I had to do it. Those damn things are pure evil.
There was no other way. He would have done the same if it were the other way around. After I put him out of his misery I had to just put him in the bathroom. Now I'm probably the last one...
How could this happen? I'll never forgive myself for being part of this project. Eventually I'll get what's coming to me, though. There's no way to escape from this nut house, it's just a matter of time now.
Everything is set. All I need is a little courage to get it done. Knowing that I'll leave many things undone is regret beyond words.
But, this is better than just waiting to turn into one of them. Please understand and at least let me end my life as a person.
They see a message on the back.
Linda, please forgive me...
".. This man.. he went through a lot before he died.. he even left behind his woman.. was he forced to help? Or was he offered good money to help protect this place?" Chris wonders aloud.
"Hard to say, but there's nothing we can do. He may have shot his friend, but as I said.." Bec trails off, putting the note away.
"Right, I'll take of it." Chris said and they head into the bathroom. Where the body in the note was laying.
Chris stomps on the head, killing the zombie, and Bec unplugs the tub. When the water was gone, they see the key and Bec takes it.
"The way to the aqua ring is in the room we we're in before, 002." Bec said.
"I didn't see any other doors." Chris said.
"It's not a door. There's a ladder, that goes down into the aqua ring, it's hidden behind book shelfs." Bec explains as they leave the bathroom.
They head back to room 002 and Chris pushes the shelfs, out of the way. They head down the ladder, Bec going first and once they hit ground, they get over to the part where water is blocking their path.
"I take it this door is locked." Chris said, motioning to the door near the corner.
"Yeah, but we can unlock it from the other side later. These creates can make a bridge, that can get us across safely." Bec said.
"Yeah, I remember you said sharks are down here." Chris said, heading over to the first create.
He pushes it until it goes in the water, then he hears movement behind him. "Out of the way!" Bec calls.
He turns to see her pushing the second create to where the water is and moves so that it can go into the water. When Bec pushes it into the water, Chris speaks, "You did good, but you didn't have to do that."
"I know, but I need to do something. I'm not made of glass." Bec said, firmly.
"I've seen enough to know that. You don't need to push yourself, is what I meant." he said, going over to the last create.
".. If I don't, then I won't survive." Bec said, as Chris pushes the create. 'I can't stay on the sidelines.'
The last create hits the water and a bridge forms. They head across and find another green herb, which Bec grabs.
As Bec makes it into powder, Chris asks, "Does that key unlock any doors in the next room?"
He had taken notice that the doors that they need to go through, were partly submerged. "Yes, only one. The doors farthest from these. There is one other door in there, it's where the roots of Plant 42 are, but we can't do anything in there at this time." Bec said, putting away the herb and placing the backpack back on her.
"Ok, you focus on unlocking the door. I'll take care of the sharks, if they get too close." Chris said. He had the self defense guns and shot gun ready.
Bec is nervous as they open the doors, but sighs in relief that Richard is no where to be seen. They quickly make their way to the doors they need, with Chris shooting at the sharks that get too close and Bec throws open the doors, once she unlocked them.
They head in and slam the doors shut. The breath heavily in relief, that they are safe. "What next?" Chris asks, once he recovered. He had gotten rid of the self defense guns, after using them on the sharks.
"We have to drain the water, but these sharks are smart. They'll know what we're up to, but thankfully, everything we need is down this ladder." Bec said, recovered.
They head down the ladder, entering the control room. "Chris, check to see what oil pressure valve is needed in emergency." Bec said, heading over to the map.
"It says 'Number 1'" he tells her.
"Ok, I'll work the valve. Can you figure out the controls needed to drain the water and shutters?" Bec asks, heading to the valves.
"Yeah, I should." Chris said heading over to the controls.
Chris checks over the controls, finding everything needed, before pressing the drain button. As Bec has said, the sharks know what they're up to and bash against the glass, startling Chris.
When the window spiders, the alarms blare and a warning is given. "Emergency! Unknown source of pressure detected! Locking all doors to ensure maximum safety!"
Chris runs over to the release to use the shutters, then heads over to the controls for them and brings down the lever, but something was wrong with the oil.
"Bec!" Chris calls to her and she releases the valve, fixing the problem. Chris then repeats what he did and this time the shutters close, the sharks couldn't get them now.
Bec comes to Chris' side as he hits the drain button again, the water drains away and the alarms stop.
"The sharks aren't a threat anymore, are they?" Chris asks, turning to her.
"Only one is. It's the biggest one and it is in a pool of water, just enough to keep it alive for now. There is a key we need, where it is." Bec said.
"Let's go." Chris said and they head down the steps and pass the door into the storage area. Bec grabs the magnum ammo on the floor and Chris sees the water damage.
"Too bad the dynamite is useless, when wet." Chris said as he heads over to the double doors.
"True, that would be helpful." Bec said, going pass the doors that Chris opens and he follows her. They enter the rind, seeing equipment and water dripping everywhere.
They go around the tank, to the end where the big shark is, after going past the small one. "You stay here. I'll go get the key." Chris said to Bec, wading into the water.
Bec stays as she watches Chris move to the platform and hoists himself up. He sees the key on top of a power box and makes a move to grab it, when the shark comes alive.
It hits the platform and the key fall off, into the pool with it.
"Chris, the machinery down here still has electricity. Push that machine by you in the water and turn it on." Bec shouts to him.
Chris does that, the machine goes into the water and he flips the switch by him, electrocuting the shark. It takes a couple of minutes, but both the shark and electric current are dead.
Chris hops down, back into the water and finds the key. He heads back over to Bec, "There's one door that we haven't gone through in the residence. It take it that's where we're going." he asks, but it was more of a statement.
"Yes. We'll take that door that is locked." Bec said.
They exit the water tank and head through the other set of double doors. The reach around the corner and go up the ladder, Chris going first. He unlocks the door, once he gets up and Bec follows him through the door.
They then leave the aqua ring.
Things seem to be moving. What will happen next?
