Chapter 24
Moroha is in the basement doing some of her meditations with Kagome. Having spiritual powers is quite the skill Moroha inherited from her mother. Kagome could tell right away that Moroha has what it takes to be a great priestess one day.
"Clear your mind." Kagome softly tells her daughter as they both sit cross legged with simple finger positions.
Moroha has been a great student at that much. Kagome can sense that Moroha's aura is glowing a bright pink, likes hers.
"Ok, Moroha. You can open your eyes." Kagome said to her. Moroha does as she is told. "So how did I do this time?" Moroha asks her mother eagerly.
"Well done as always, Moroha. But are there any activities at the school that you want to join?" Kagome said as she helps Moroha with her hair that was down during the session.
"Nah. The clubs and activities don't seem to interest me at the least." Moroha answers as she turns to Kagome.
"I just want you to know that you don't have to be a priestess like me. I thought that something at the school would have other activities that would require your skills." Kagome explains to her as they enter the kitchen.
"Well, Towa and Setsuna have their interests because their teachers are impressed. But I don't really have one to be honest." Moroha replies back as she goes into the fridge.
"Then why not make one yourself." Kagome offers her idea.
"I'll think about it." Moroha said looking over her shoulder before going upstairs.
Kagome frowns a little. 'I thought that the school would have something that might intrigue here.' She thought to herself as she enters the living room and sits leisurely on the couch. She checks her smartphone to see if anything is getting her attention. So far nothing has.
Inuyasha comes out of the office with a curious look on his face. He sees Kagome dozing off from her training. He smiles and knees beside her. "Hey." He said quietly. Kagome opens her eyes to see Inuyasha with something in his golden eyes.
"Care to explain why the session was cut short?" He asks her in a teasing way.
Kagome sits up while Inuyasha sits next to her. "I'm probably running out of ideas on training Moroha with her spiritual powers." She said to him trustfully.
Inuyasha wraps his arm around her shoulder. "Listen, we know that some day that we'll no longer be able to teach Moroha what she needs to know about her powers."
Kagome nods as she leans onto him. "I know. She's growing up so fast that it kind of breaks my heart."
Inuyasha kisses her on the lips. "Yeah. I feel the same way. We want her to grow up, but time has passed so fast that it was like yesterday that day when she wanted to know about her abilities."
They just sat there in each other's arms, not caring on what to say or do next. "What about the school? Does it have anything that interest Moroha?" Inuyasha spoke softly.
Kagome shakes her head. "I asked her, but she shrugged it off. I even looked through the list, and she was right, there's nothing there that interest. She loves training here with us?"
Moroha is in her bedroom. She is going through the little trinkets of the various jewelry pieces she used to make when she was little. The one thing that she was good at were the beaded animals. She made from lizards, snakes, and any other animal she can put her mind to. She goes into an old shoe bow to find them stored inside. From the detailed colors and the patterns, she smiles at the nostalgic moments.
"And to think that this could've been a hobby of mine." She said to herself as she puts the box away under her bed. A knock on her door gets her attention. "Hey." Inuyasha enters the room. "What were you doing?" He asks her curiously.
Moroha blushes in embarrassment. "Well, I was going through some old trinkets that I used to make when I was a kid."
Inuyasha can smell that the box is under her bed. "It's special. I can tell how much you cherish them." He said as he pulls out and opens the lid.
"Yeah. I was really into that arts and crafts." Moroha said as she sat on the bed.
"Tell me something, Moroha. Is there anything else you want to try other than training here at home?" Inuyasha sits next to her.
Moroha looks down for a second. "To be honest, I don't know. I mean that there's those clubs and activities are school, but I don't want it to interfere with my training with you and mom."
Inuyasha can sense the uncertainty in her voice. He takes a hold on her shoulder, "If you want to try, your mother and I will change your training depends on the club's schedule, that way you won't feel overwhelmed." Moroha nods and leans onto his side. "Thanks, Dad." She smiles.
The next day, Moroha swaps her books in her locker and closes the door. She heads to the bulletin board by the office to see if there's any clubs that might intrigue her.
"Cooking, music, acting, teams to be on, key club, sports…" Moroha groans in the end. But then a student puts up a flyer onto the board by her head.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know you were there." A girl said to her with a smile. Moroha tilts her head to see what the gurl put up. "What's on the flyer?" She asks the female student.
"Oh, I just started a new club. So far, it's just me. I'm Meiko" The girl answers Moroha.
"Looking for those who have doubts. Come to the Confidence Club." Moroha reads it out loud. "What's this club about?"
Meiko smiles shyly. "Well, that's what the message says. Trying to be encouraged. Having faith in others, cheering. That's sort of thing." She explains to Moroha.
Moroha can sense that this girl isn't very good at what just said to her. "Ok. But what about hobbies. What about your own?"
"Oh, well, there's another one I like. But I don't think anyone wants to join that club." Meiko said to her. Moroha can sense that she's quite nervous about what she might say. "That's up to you if you want to tell me or not." Moroha said as she is about to turn around to head to class.
"It's solving mysteries." Meiko said to her. That alone made Moroha turn around fully. "Mystery solving huh? Like what?" Meiko sighs, "You know, those crime shows, mystery shows. I'm usually fascinated with that kind of thing. I thought that if I were to start this Mystery Club, I thought that it'd do some good for the school."
Moroha smiles, "You have your first member joining you. Where is the club after school?" Meiko smiles. "It's in room 203. I'll be there." Meiko leaves the spot to go to her next class while Moroha goes to hers.
Later that afternoon, the twins are waiting for Moroha to walk with them home. Towa looks at her smartphone's clock. "It's been ten minutes since class ended. Where is she?"
Setsuna looks down the hallway to see if Moroha is around. "So far, I can smell her scent from the second floor." She said as they go to the stairs. They turn the corner of the hall to spot Moroha entering a classroom.
"What do you think she's doing in there?" Towa asks her twin as they approach the door, seeing through the glass of the door they see Moroha and another student with her. They look around the room to see various newspapers and magazine articles about crimes and mysteries back in the day.
"Should we go in?" Towa asks Setsuna. Setsuna shakes her head. "No, we need to leave Moroha alone to see if she's capable of doing this." She responds coldly.
They are about to turn around and leave the school.
"Thought I'd find you snooping up here." Moroha opens the door to catch them. "Oh you found already." Towa laughed nervously.
"Honestly, Towa, you and Setsuna should control your auras. That's how I was able to sense your presences." Moroha crossed her arms in pride.
"Anyway, why didn't you join us at the front door? We were waiting for you for about ten minutes." Setsuna asks her.
"Oh, I guess I didn't mention to you that I joined a club here." Moroha answers Setsuna's question.
"You joined a club? Since when?" Towa is shocked to hear such a thing from her cousin. Moroha shakes her head in annoyance.
"Since right now. My parents wanted me to join an activity to make sure they don't have to train me every day. Not that I'm complaining about it." Moroha explains to Towa as she gestures the twins to come into the classroom.
"Oh, Moroha. Do we have new members joining us?" Meiko beamed with excitement.
"Not sure if they want. But I just found out that they were snooping into the room through the window." Moroha answers while pointing with her thumbs to the twins.
"So, what is this club? Just curious?" Setsuna asks as she walks around the room with the articles on the walls.
"The Mystery Club." Meiko said to them. "In this club, we usually discuss how each mystery is solved, what the motive behind it. The suspects, evidence etc."
"Well, I would say that you collected some complex mysteries from these pages." Towa compliments the display.
Meiko nods. "Yes. I'm pretty much a mystery geek. Ever since my father told me about it on tv one night, he asked me about it. I told him it was fascinating. And so, I'm hooked."
Setsuna spots one article on the board. "Say, Meiko. What's this page about?" She asks pointing to a page highlighting in yellow.
"Oh, that page has the one of the most unusual case." Meiko takes the page off the board. "What's so unusual about it?" Moroha asks her as she lays the page onto the center table.
"The case has to do with the school being a target for a terrorist named as the 'Purifier.'. According to the police reports and journalists, the Purifier wanted to cleanse anyone who isn't worthy of having someone it particularly chooses. One of the victims was a substitute teacher who was a secret agent, but little did she know that when she was at the school, she left her child with her family at the Higurashi Shrine. That's when the Purifier attacked her family, she wanted the child because it believed the child didn't belong into this world." Meiko said to them.
Little did Meiko know, Moroha knew exactly what she was talking about. Her, and her family. Right in front of her.
