A/N: The boys' All-Valley tournament continues. I didn't do a poll on the matchups for both the girls' and boys' All-Valleys, because I'd already planned the matches out. I've got a lot planned for the rest of the boys' tournament, and that's why it's spread out over a few chapters. And, I have changed a couple of things. Hopefully people won't mind that too much.
Disclaimer: I don't own the Karate Kid movies, Cobra Kai or anything else that I might reference.
Clipped Wings
Jason and Hawk circle around each other looking for an opening.
"Come on, Hawk! Make a move! You're faster than he is! Just go for an attack before he can do anything about it! Because he's not going to realise until it's too late." Sensei is quick to give Hawk some advice.
Hawk nods. "Yes, Sensei!"
Jason blocks a kick from Hawk, who charges forward.
He blocks another kick from Hawk before he ducks a roundhouse kick.
Hawk jumps up and does a spinning kick.
Jason puts some distance between himself and Hawk.
Hawk manages to close the distance and leaps into the air again.
He manages to kick Jason in the face this time, causing Jason to stagger backwards.
"Point! 1 – 0!" The referee calls a halt to the match.
Jason and Hawk get back on their lines.
They get into fighting stances as the match resumes.
Jason is the one to strike first.
He throws punches that Hawk manages to block before he counterattacks.
Jason blocks or gets out of the way of Hawk's counterpunches, and tries to punch Hawk.
Hawk gets out of Jason's range before running towards him and jumping in the air.
Jason blocks an attempt at a punch from Hawk and does a leg sweep to throw him off balance.
He watches as Hawk falls to the ground before dropping down and hitting him in the stomach.
The referee quickly makes the call. "Point! 1 – 1!"
Jason helps Hawk up to his feet before getting back on his line.
"You having a good time?" Hawk asks.
Jason grins. "Yeah. You've really improved a lot since you joined Cobra Kai."
"Thanks. Seeing you and Miguel fight Kyler and them was what inspired me to join Cobra Kai. And, I might have started off weak but I became stronger and faster. I might not be on the same level as you and Miguel, but I'm not going to fall behind." Hawk replies.
Jason nods. "Awesome. But I think the time for talking is over. Let's see who wins!"
"Hell yes." Hawk agrees.
They get back into fighting stances.
Hawk goes for a punch, but Jason blocks it pretty easily.
Jason tries to sweep Hawk's legs but Hawk takes a few steps backwards to avoid it.
Hawk goes to kick Jason, but Jason gets out of the way.
Jason goes for a kick.
Hawk blocks the kick and tries to counter.
They go back to circling around each other.
Hawk breaks the deadlock by going for another kick.
Jason grabs Hawk's leg and does a hard karate chop to his chest before letting go of him.
Hawk almost doubles over from the impact of the karate chop.
The referee calls the point. "Point! 2 – 1!"
Jason and Hawk get back on their lines.
"Ready, fight!" The referee gives the signal for the match to resume.
Hawk charges at Jason.
Jason sidesteps a flurry of punches.
He throws a punch to Hawk's chest that the other teenager manages to block.
They stand in the centre of the mat throwing punches at each other before Jason slowly starts to push Hawk back until he takes a step off the mat.
The referee calls a halt to the round. "Break! Out of bounds! No point!"
Jason and Hawk get back on their lines.
"Ready! Fight!" The referee signals for the next round to start.
Jason is the one who goes on the offensive this time.
He throws punches and kicks at Hawk, but Hawk manages to sidestep them.
Hawk tries to kick Jason in the ribs, but Jason blocks it with an elbow.
They aim kicks at each other.
Jason almost kicks Hawk in the face, but Hawk manages to get out of the way in time.
Hawk tries to kick Jason in the face, but Jason blocks it.
Jason goes back on the offensive.
He aims kicks at Hawk.
Hawk manages to dodge each kick.
Hawk charges Jason and manages to drive him back.
Jason grabs Hawk by the collar of his gi and throws him to the ground.
Hawk almost does a somersault in order to avoid Jason's follow up.
Jason watches as Hawk gets back to his feet.
They square up to each other in the middle of the mat.
Jason tries to grab Hawk by the collar of his gi again.
Hawk gets out of the way and does a hook kick that catches Jason in the side.
The referee calls a halt to the match. "Point! 2 – 2!"
"This match is totally unpredictable! Both competitors are giving it everything they've got! Whoever wins this could be anybody's guess!" Darryl announces.
The referee waits until Jason and Hawk get on their lines before resuming the match. "Ready! Fight!"
Jason and Hawk both go on the offensive.
They stand in the centre of the mat until Jason starts to push Hawk back.
Hawk charges forward and tries to kick Jason.
Jason blocks a kick from Hawk and kicks him in stomach.
"Point! 3 – 2! Winner!" The referee exclaims.
The audience erupts in cheers.
Darryl almost looks stunned. "This match could have gone either way! But there could only be one winner! Jason Kreese is our first semi-finalist!"
"Congrats on the win." Hawk says.
Jason smiles. "Thanks. You did a pretty good job, though. There were times where it felt like you could have won."
"But I didn't. And you'd better keep it going. Because you and Miguel are the best of us." Hawk gives Jason a pat on the back.
They get back to their lines and bow to each other.
Jason looks over at Hawk. "I'm going to try and win it. Regardless of who I might face."
They walk off the mat together.
The other Cobras pat them on the back and high five them as they walk to the locker room.
They have enough time to get a drink of water before the other quarterfinals start.
Jason wants to see Robby's match because there's a good chance that they might face each other in the semifinals.
….
Jason and Hawk managed to make it back before Robby's match started.
Hawk takes his place near the middle of the Cobras and Jason stands next to Claire.
"Robby Keene, who is fighting unaffiliated will be facing David Post from Locust Valley Karate Club! Who will join Jason Kreese as one of the four semi-finalists! It's time to find out!" Darryl announces.
Robby and David stand on their lines.
The referee looks over at them. "Face me, bow. Face each other, bow."
Robby and David bow to the referee before they bow to each other.
"Ready, fight!" The referee calls for the match to start.
Robby gets into a fighting stance right away.
He watches as David gets into a fighting stance.
David quickly goes on the offensive.
Robby manages to block David's punches and kicks.
David does what looks like a Capoeira move in order to try and hit Robby.
Robby gets out of the way and lands a hook kick to the side of David's head just as David is about to get to his feet.
The referee calls a halt to the match. "Point! 1 – 1!"
Robby extends a hand to David only for it to be batted away.
He gets back on his line as David rises to his feet.
It doesn't take long for David to get back on his line.
The referee calls for the match to resume. "Ready! Fight!"
Robby keeps his guard up as David goes on the offensive again.
He evades punches and kicks before landing a roundhouse kick to David's stomach.
David doubles over and looks like he's in pain.
"Point! 2 – 0!" The referee exclaims.
Robby goes back to his line as David recovers and goes back onto his line.
Darryl looks at the match as it unfolds. "It's starting to look like a clean sweep for Robby Keene! Can he keep up the momentum or will David Post come from behind to win? Who will be the second semi-finalist?"
"Ready! Fight!" The referee calls for the match to resume.
Robby goes on the offensive this time.
He throws punches and aims kicks at David, who manages to block the punches and kicks.
Robby pushes David back until he gets backed off the mat.
The referee calls a halt to the round. "Break! Out of bounds! No point!"
Robby backs up until he is standing on his line.
He watches as David walks back to his line. Robby might have had less training than David, let alone actual experience of competing, but he was the one who practically had one foot in the semifinals.
"Ready! Fight!" The referee calls for the match to resume.
Robby and David square up to each other in the middle of the mat.
David breaks the deadlock by attempting to kick Robby.
Robby blocks the kick with an elbow and counters it.
David blocks the counter and attempts to punch Robby.
Robby blocks the punch and counters.
They circle around each other looking for an opening.
David goes low, but Robby does a flip away from him before doing a jumping kick.
The kick connects.
The referee calls for the match to end. "Point! 3 – 0! Winner!"
Robby and David both get back to their feet.
David grudgingly bows to Robby before he leaves the mat.
"Robby Keene is our second semi-finalist! There are only two spots left! And anything can happen!" Darryl announces.
Robby walks off the mat and gives Sensei a look.
Miguel and Reid step on to the mat as the audience cheers.
The first quarterfinal had been relatively even and the second quarterfinal had been fairly lopsided.
Which just meant that there was no way of telling how the other quarterfinals would go.
Things were about to get interesting.
….
Miguel and Reid get on their lines.
"This is the third quarterfinal! Who will win and progress to the semifinals? Miguel Diaz of Cobra Kai Karate or Brent Reid of Yoshukai Karate? It's time to find out!" Darryl announces.
The referee looks over at them. "Face me, bow. Face each other, bow."
Miguel and Brent bow to the referee before bowing to each other.
"Ready! Fight!" The referee calls for the match to start.
Everybody had seen Brent sweeping Bert, including Miguel.
So, he knew what to expect.
The difference was that Miguel was taller than Bert and had more experience.
Miguel gets on one leg and does the crane pose again.
Brent charges at him.
Miguel hops on one leg and kicks Brent right in the face with his other leg.
Brent drops to the mat holding his face.
The referee quickly calls a halt to the match. "Point! 1 – 0!"
There's a brief pause as the head Sensei of Yoshukai Karate checks on Brent to see if he's alright.
Brent finally waves the head Sensei of Yoshukai Karate away.
Miguel watches as Brent rises to his feet and returns to his line.
"Ready! Fight!" The referee calls for the match to resume.
Brent is keeping his guard up in order to try and prevent Miguel from hitting him in the face again.
Miguel quickly goes on the offensive.
He launches a flurry of kicks that Brent either blocks or outright evades before doing a sort of baseball slide manoeuvre that catches his legs and brings him down.
Miguel drives an elbow into Brent's ribs.
The referee sees the point and gives it. "Point! 2 – 0!"
"Miguel Diaz has one foot in the semifinals! Can he keep the momentum going or will Brent Reid make a comeback and win? There's only one way to find out!" Darryl announces.
Miguel helps Brent up to his feet before they return to their lines.
The referee calls for the match to start again. "Ready! Fight!"
Miguel and Brent circle around each other.
Brent is the one who breaks the deadlock.
He launches kicks and punches at Miguel, who manages to evade them.
Miguel counterattacks.
He throws a few punches and kicks at Brent, who evades them.
Miguel closes the distance between himself and Brent.
He blocks a punch from Brent and counters with a punch to the chest.
"Point! 3 – 0! Winner!" The referee exclaims.
Miguel watches as Brent recovers.
They shake hands before Brent walks off the mat.
Darryl gets the attention of the audience. "Miguel Diaz is our third semi-finalist! We've only got one more quarterfinal match left, folks! And then the semi-finalists will be revealed!"
"Good job, Diaz!" Sensei gives Miguel a pat on the back.
Miguel stands near where Jason and Claire are standing.
Jason leans over. "I see that Reid didn't give you too much trouble."
"He didn't. I want to see how the last quarterfinal will go. Leonard has improved a lot since he joined Cobra Kai, but I wonder if that's going to be enough to defeat Stone." Miguel says.
Jason nods. "Xander Stone was last year's champion. And he was fairly impressive. But I'm sure that Leonard will be ready for him."
"Hopefully." Miguel replies.
They watch as Leonard and Xander step onto the mat.
The last quarterfinal was going to be a chance to see Xander in action, seeing as he was the champion of last year's All-Valley.

Leonard and Xander stand on the mat facing each other.
"This is the last quarterfinal matchup! Let me present to you all Leonard Cole from Cobra Kai Karate and Xander Stone from Topanga Karate! Only one of them will make it to the semifinals! Will Leonard Cole be the third semi-finalist from Cobra Kai or will Xander Stone clear another obstacle in his path to becoming a two-time All-Valley champion like Johnny Lawrence or Daniel LaRusso? There's only one way we'll find out!" Darryl hypes up the crowd.
The referee looks over at Leonard and Xander. "Face me, bow. Face each other, bow."
Leonard and Xander face the referee and bow before they bow to each other.
"Ready! Fight!" The referee calls for the match to start.
Leonard and Xander get into fighting stances.

Leonard is the first person to break the deadlock.
He tries to kick Xander, only for the kick to be blocked.
Leonard follows it up with another kick, but Xander manages to block that kick and counterattack.
They trade punches and kicks in the centre of the mat.
Leonard darts in and lands a kick on Xander.
The referee calls a halt to the round. "Point! 1 – 0!"
Leonard and Xander get back on their lines.
"Ready! Fight!" The referee exclaims.
Leonard tries to kick Xander again, but Xander gets out of the way.
He attempts to sweep Xander's legs but Xander manages to dodge the attempt.
Xander manages to break through and deliver a kick to Leonard's stomach.
The referee calls it. "Point! 1 – 1!"
Leonard and Xander both get back on their lines.

He throws punches and kicks at Xander, who manages to block or evade them.

Leonard and Xander get back on their lines.
The referee calls for the match to resume. "Ready! Fight!"
Leonard and Xander trade punches and kicks in the centre of the mat.
Neither one of them wants to give away any space.
Xander tries to kick Leonard, but Leonard manages to grab Xander's leg.
Leonard tries to punch Xander but Xander manages to block it and break free from Leonard's grip.
They go back to circling around each other.
Leonard tries to sweep Xander's legs again, but Xander moves out of the way.
Xander kicks Leonard just as he is about to stand up again.
"Point! 3 – 2! Winner!" The referee stops the match.
Leonard stands up and walks off of the mat without bowing to Xander.
Darryl announces the winner to the audience. "Xander Stone is our last semi-finalist!"
The semi-final matches were set.
Jason would be facing Robby and Miguel would be facing Xander.
Fortunately, there wouldn't be too much of a wait between the last match of the quarterfinals and the different semi-finalists being introduced.
