Chapter four-

Dawn watched as a wing of ten Skywing soldiers came closer and closer to them. She noticed how two of them had scales that almost looked like they were glowing with them. Two firescales that could incinerate them almost instantly. Dawn, Star, Hinder, Pride, Secret, and Dusk hovered defensively, just over the green forest canopy. Dawn watched as they paused, and two of them came forward. Hmm, what do these young dragons think they're doing? Trying to fight us and defend their stupid rainforest. One of them was thinking. Dawn wasn't quite sure which one it was, but she was pretty sure it was the evil looking one who had thought it.

They were both covered in hard metal armor that covered their chest, all four of their legs, and their tail. Their wings and head, however, were unprotected. "Who are you? Why are you in this rainforest?" One of the Skywings asked in a leader-like voice. This one had fancy jewels and gems embedded into their armor. "What do you mean, Skywings? This was once our home, which you burned down nearly five years ago. Why have you returned?" Star asked them harshly. Dawn flinched slightly at the tone of her voice. "None of your business." The second Skywing answered. "No need to tell us. I already know." Secret told them. The two Skywings looked at each other in confusion. "Future sight, rocks-for-brains!" Secret yelled at them.

The two gestured for the rest of the wing to come forward. Dusk pulled out her blow dart straw and a poison dart. She aimed it at one of the Skywings behind the front two. She shot it and it struck a Skywing in their neck. "Ouch! I think I just got bit by a mosquito." They said in a soft voice. They should be severely sick in about a day now. "Skywings, ATTACK!" All the Skywings came at them forcefully. Hinder slashed at them with his poison spear, taking one down while doing so. At first it seemed like they were winning, until it came to the two firescales. One just barely grazed Pride and left a severe burn on his neck. Dawn watched as Star touched the flamescales and burnt their face. Did she just make her scales hotter than that other flamescales? Dawn asked herself, amazed at seeing her abilities at their best.

Dawn turned and watched in horror as the other flamescales incinerated Dusk. They were losing. Dawn flew over to Star. "We need to go! Now! Almost all futures where we both stay, we both die. Follow me." Dawn told her quickly. "If we must. Both flamescales have been eliminated, now." Star shot a poison dart at the other flamescales and they flew away. Dawn looked back and watched as the first two Skywings killed Hinder, the last of their original group. "No, they're all dead. All gone. Star, we need to go." Dawn looked back at her and they flew back to the clearing.

As they recovered from the battle, Dawn watched as dark clouds rolled in, promising a storm. The wind picked up, shaking the leaves of the trees. "Here." Star handed her a peach. "Thank you. I'm so hungry." Dawn thanked her, taking the peach from her. "No problem. It's what I can do, to help you feel better since we just watched all of your friends get murdered." Star replied, sighing softly. "It's alright." Dawn wrapped her tail gently around Star's. She smiled. Dawn smiled back at her.

Dawn heard a sharp crack of thunder and felt a drop of rain on her snout. "A storm is coming. Do you have any sort of shelter we can hide out in?" Dawn asked. She shook her head no. One thing I should've done when I first got here but never did. Star was thinking. "It's alright. We should be safe from all the cover from the trees." Dawn said to her. Dawn curled up close by to Star, heat radiating off Star's firescales. As the storm crept to its climax, there were more and more lightning strikes. One struck the center of the clearing they were in. Dawn shot up into sitting, absolutely terrified. A second struck the tree beside her. She watched as it fell. "Dawn!" Star screamed as it fell on her. "AHH!" Dawn screeched as she felt a few of her ribs snap.

I, I enchant this tree on me to go back up! As if it had never been struck before! Dawn cried in her head. Star was looking at her, horror apparent on her face. "Dawn! Are you alright?" She cried running up to her. "No, I'm not, alright. Broken ribs." Dawn managed to get out through the pain of her injuries. "And, something worse. A branch stabbed through your shoulder. Well, probably not worse, but definitely bad. We need a doctor." Yes we do. Definitely do. Dawn thought in pain.

"Uhhh. I'll be right back." Star, wait! Dawn thought to her. She stopped in her tracks. "Did you just, think to me? And I heard it?" Star asked, extremely confused. Yes. I hear a mind, it's faint, but it sounds like it's coming from the edge of the forest, close to where you first met me. Dawn thought to Star. "Ok. I will find them and bring them here. Don't get more hurt, this storm looks like it's finally letting up a bit." Star said as she shot up into the air and the direction of the mind she heard. Hopefully Star could find them, and they could help her.
