Meanwhile, back with Drew, Mike, and Jiminy—still searching Agrabah with Aladdin and Abu—morning had arrived. It was the same day that Nick, Connor, Lily, and Joey had rescued Brer Rabbit and reopened the path to Splash Mountain. Now, the twins, along with Jiminy, were on their so-called mission to find their brothers, puppies, and parents.
Mike, however, was feeling pretty down, and though he tried not to show it to Aladdin and Abu, his frustration was palpable. He would have much preferred to wake up back home before the move, rather than stuck in the current nightmare. Drew, who had been hearing enough of Mike's complaints, was beginning to get annoyed.
As the twins and Jiminy had planned the night before, the next step was clear: they had to infiltrate Jafar's lair to retrieve the map and the scarab that would lead them to the Cave of Wonders.
The moment they left Aladdin's home, all of them began their "search" for Drew and Mike's family while Jiminy still hid in Mike's shirt pocket. They searched for like an hour when they stopped by the market area.
Aladdin, glancing over at Mike, noted, "You guys really miss your family, huh?"
Mike, ever the strategist, grunted and suggested, "Maybe we should split into two groups. You and Abu go one way, Drew and I will head another. That way, we can cover more ground and maybe even find them before the day's over."
Aladdin raised an eyebrow. "You know, that's actually not a bad idea. I see why you're the smart one."
Mike grinned, puffing out his chest, but Drew immediately shot him down with a deadpan, "Don't feed his ego. He's arrogant enough already."
Mike shot Drew a sideways glare in response.
"Well, good luck then," Aladdin said, waving as he and Abu turned to go. "Let's get this done."
The twins and Jiminy watched them leave, but Mike was already moving with a purpose. He reached into his bag and pulled out some garments that he snatched while they're doing their so-called-search. He planned on putting them back after they're done searching the Sultan's palace. Now, he was ready to make use of them.
"Let's turn these into something... stealthy," he muttered, as he began fashioning the clothes into makeshift ninja-like outfits, his hands working quickly and efficiently.
As they approached the palace gates, Drew voiced his frustration. "I hate lying to Aladdin. He's a good guy. I don't want to keep this up."
Jiminy, now perched on Mike's shoulder, replied, "We can't risk telling him the truth. If we do, he'll start asking questions—and that's not a rabbit hole we want to go down."
Mike silenced both of them with a sharp "Shh!" as a huge cart rolled up to the gates. The cart stopped, and its owner climbed out to show his clearance to the guards.
Mike quickly handed one of the disguises to Drew. "Put it on. Now."
Drew grumbled but complied, and Mike did the same, pulling on his own disguise. They even managed to fashion a small one for Jiminy, though it was mostly just a tiny hooded cloak.
Drew shot a skeptical look at himself. "This is ridiculous. There's no way this is gonna work."
Mike glared at him. "We don't have time to argue. The cart's about to pass the gates."
Drew, with no further comment, sprinted toward the cart and slid beneath it with ease. Mike, however, wasn't as graceful. He tried to slide under but failed. With a frustrated grunt, he crawled beneath the cart on his hands and knees, Jiminy perched on his shoulder, trying his best to keep out of sight. Miraculously, neither the guards nor the cart's owner noticed them.
Once under the cart, the twins held their breath as it moved past the palace gates, managing not to be dragged along in the process.
As the cart neared the back entrance to the palace, Mike quickly realized that it was delivering food.
"Alright," Mike whispered harshly as they slipped off the cart, "We're in. Now, Drew—use your stupid Disney knowledge to find Jafar's lair. Find the map and the scarab. Then we leave early tomorrow morning, get the lamp, and wish for all of us—Nick, Connor, and the puppies—to get back home!"
Drew rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Just stay quiet."
With that, they began their stealthy journey through the palace halls, narrowly avoiding detection at every turn. A few unintentional hijinks and close calls later, Drew finally found what they were looking for: a secret door leading down to Jafar's lair.
Drew yanked a lever, and the door swung open. They slipped inside, the door closing silently behind them. They climbed the stairs and soon found themselves in front of Jafar's personal chamber.
The search for both the map and the scarab continued. Mike, scanning the room, asked, "Does the map have a lamp and tiger-head markings?"
Drew, who was thoroughly absorbed in his search, shook his head. "I don't know. It probably doesn't exist in the movie, but... in theory, maybe?"
"Well... I pretty much found it." He held up the map, and Drew's face broke into a smile.
"At least your theory was right..." Mike admitted.
Drew grinned at his compliment.
"... for once."
Then Drew frowned in annoyance.
Jiminy, perched on Mike's shoulder, piped up, "Hey, be polite. Be happy we found it."
Mike grunted in acknowledgment but quickly turned to Drew. "Did you find the scarab yet?"
Drew sighed. "I checked every nook and cranny on my side of the room. Did you find it?"
Mike shook his head, his frustration mounting. Drew paused, then put two and two together. "Jafar must have it on him to prevent it from being stolen."
Mike threw his hands up in the air. "Well, that's just great! What now?!"
Drew, trying to stay calm, shot back, "Hey, don't blame me for this. We still have the map."
Mike wasn't convinced. "What good is that going to do without the scarab?!"
Drew thought for a moment, then answered, "We can wait at the Cave of Wonders. Follow Aladdin without Jafar spotting us. We get the lamp first, make our wishes—wish ourselves, Nick, Connor, and the puppies back home. And wish Jiminy back to the King."
Mike scowled. "That's just great!"
Drew met his eyes firmly. "We don't have much choice, Mike. Jafar's got the scarab. What else can we do?"
Jiminy, who had been quietly listening to their bickering, was starting to get frustrated himself. "Alright, that's enough, you two. Calm down. Just go with Drew's new plan."
Mike groaned but finally relented. "Fine. But I really hate being stuck in this nonsensical nightmare."
They both gave in, and after a few more moments of tension, they left the room and crept downstairs toward the entrance.
Just as Drew was about to open the door, they heard Iago's loud voice from the hallway, followed by Jafar's deep, angry tones. The twins froze in panic.
Mike quickly whispered, "We need to get up on the ceiling."
Drew shot him a look. "You can't do that. You're not exactly... gym class material."
Mike's face reddened, not appreciating the reminder of his lack of upper-body strength. "I'll manage," he said through gritted teeth.
The twins and Jiminy scrambled up to the ceiling, clinging to the rafters as quietly as possible. Jafar and Iago passed beneath them, arguing, unaware of the trio hiding above.
The twins held their breath, barely moving a muscle. Jafar and Iago were discussing about the ring they "acquired" from the Sultan that will help them find the 'diamond in the rough'. Afterwards, Jafar wanted to get some parts for a contraption that will help them 'create a storm' as they exited out of the lair. Once the coast was clear, Mike couldn't hold it any longer. He lost his grip and fell flat on his face, groaning as he hit the ground. The landing wasn't graceful, but he was mostly unharmed, aside from a few bruises.
Drew managed a softer landing, though he didn't escape entirely unscathed. He wiped a bead of sweat off his brow and muttered, "Phew. That was too close."
Mike pushed himself up from the floor, muttering, "Let's get out of here before Jafar notices the map's missing."
Drew nodded, and the twins quickly exited Jafar's lair, making their way back to the cart without being seen. But when they arrived, they saw the cart already pulling away from the gates, which were beginning to close.
The twins scrambled for cover, ducking into the shadows. Mike, fuming, turned on Drew. "This is your fault! If you hadn't taken so long to find Jafar's lair, we wouldn't be late and stuck out here."
Drew's irritation flared. "Oh, really? I didn't exactly get a tour of the palace layout while watching the movie!"
The argument escalated, with both of them now forehead-to-forehead, their voices rising. Jiminy, fed up with the bickering, stepped between them. He pushed their foreheads apart with a sharp "Enough!"
"Calm down, both of you!" Jiminy snapped, his patience wearing thin. "And be quiet, will you? We don't need anyone else knowing we're here." He had grown more tired of their constant arguing, but his politeness kept him from showing it too obviously.
The twins grudgingly backed off, and Jiminy sighed in relief. "Good. Now maybe we can figure a way out of here." He turned to Drew. "Have you seen another way out of the palace from watching the movie back in the real world?"
Drew thought for a moment, then nodded. "There's a tree in the courtyard. It's tall enough to get us over the wall."
Mike, now a little anxious, shook his head. "We'll never make it! We'll get caught before we even get close!"
Drew didn't hesitate. "We don't have a choice, Mike. It's the only way."
Mike grumbled but reluctantly agreed. "Fine. But this better not get us caught."
The twins, with Jiminy perched on Mike's shoulder, set off toward the courtyard. As they neared it, they were spotted by Razoul, who was carrying a bundle of peasant clothing to trade, by order of the Sultan himself, afterwards he would go back to patrolling with the other guards in the streets of Agrabah. He dropped the clothes when he saw the twins, though he didn't recognize them in their disguises.
"Hey! Stop right there!" Razoul shouted, lunging after them.
The chase was on. After a while, captain of the guard, managed to catch Drew and hold him a restrictive hold. Mike's heart raced, but his eyes scanned the area. In a panic, he grabbed a small statue of the Sultan's head that sat nearby. Without thinking, he swung it at Razoul's head. The impact knocked Razoul out cold, releasing Drew from his grip.
"Thanks!" Drew said quickly, breathing a sigh of relief.
Mike didn't waste a second. "We need to go, now. Someone might've heard the whole thing."
Without a word, they quickly propped Razoul up in a nearby chair, making him look like he was just taking a nap. Then, they dashed into the courtyard, where the beauty of the garden briefly stunned them both.
"Wow," Drew said, taking in the vibrant flowers and tall, swaying trees. "This place is amazing. Totally different than watching it from the movie."
Jiminy, observing the changes, murmured, "Looks like they've done some renovations since the last time I was here."
Drew blinked. "You've been here before?"
Jiminy nodded. "A long time ago. But not inside the palace—just a short, friendly meeting between the King and Queen of Disney World and the Sultan and Sultana of Agrabah."
Mike raised an eyebrow, confused. "Wait, I thought the Sultan was the only ruler in the movie."
Drew frowned. "The Sultana existed before the movie—part of Disney lore. She passed away when Jasmine was just a child."
Jiminy's voice softened, and he added, "It was a sad day when she died." His tone carried a hint of melancholy that made the twins uncomfortable, the mention of a mother's death too close to their own experiences.
Drew shifted uncomfortably, regretting bringing it up. But Jiminy's voice snapped him out of the moment as he pointed excitedly to a tree that stretched high above the palace wall.
"That's it! That's the tree!" Jiminy said.
Drew grinned. "Yes! That's the one!"
Mike, who had been tense the entire time, finally let out a long breath of relief. "Finally." He gave a quick glance to ensure no one was nearby, then led the way toward the tree.
The trio quickly climbed it, making their way over the wall with minimal noise. As they dropped down the other side, they breathed a collective sigh of relief. They had made it out without being seen—well, except for Razoul, who was still snoozing in the chair.
Jasmine was strolling through the palace gardens with Rajah, her royal tiger, when she spotted Razoul slumped in a chair, looking like he was napping. She shook her head in mild disappointment.
"Razoul," she murmured, walking over to him and gently nudging his shoulder.
Razoul stirred, slowly waking up. His eyes snapped open in panic, and he quickly scanned the area, as if expecting danger. When his gaze landed on Jasmine, he sat up straighter, alarm in his voice.
"There are intruders in the palace!" he exclaimed, his breath quickening.
Jasmine raised an eyebrow, not buying it for a second. "Intruders? Razoul, I think it's more likely you're just having a bad dream. You've been napping."
Razoul opened his mouth to argue, but his words faltered. He paused, then touched his head, realizing he couldn't feel any bumps or bruises from the assault. "Wait... maybe I did fall asleep," he muttered, his tone shifting from urgent to uncertain. He glanced at the chair, at the clothes scattered around, and started to put them back together, embarrassed.
Jasmine raised an eyebrow, her expression growing more serious. "You fell asleep... while on duty?"
Razoul, flustered, muttered an apology while also uncertain with himself. "I... I thing was just taking a break. I'll get back to work right away."
He bent down to collect the clothes he had dropped during his impromptu nap, but in his haste, he missed one—a brown, hooded robe—leaving it behind as he moved toward the storage to put everything else away.
Jasmine's eyes lingered on the robe. She walked over, curiosity piqued. The robe was odd, out of place. She picked it up, turning it over in her hands. A plan began to form in her mind.
Meanwhile, Rajah, ever alert, had wandered off. His keen senses caught an unusual combination of scents wafting through the air. He followed them toward the courtyard, Jasmine's eyes following him curiously. When she saw him sniffing around the tree near the palace wall, she stopped in her tracks.
Jasmine's gaze shifted to the tree, her mind racing. A thought began to solidify—one that gave her a renewed sense of purpose. The pieces were falling into place.
Her plan for freedom was finally complete.
After putting a safe distance between themselves and the palace, Drew and Mike returned the disguises to the place where they'd originally found them. Mike carefully altered the garments back to their original appearance, making sure they wouldn't stand out. Once that was done, the twins began searching the streets for Aladdin.
Mike sighed. "We should leave first thing tomorrow morning. Get a head start on all this."
Drew glanced over at him. "Without saying goodbye?"
Even Jiminy, perched on Mike's shoulder, tilted his head in concern. "Yeah, Mike. You're just gonna walk away?"
Mike, a little impatient, snapped back, "Dude, I don't want to be friends with someone who doesn't even exist."
Drew's face flushed with anger, and Jiminy bristled, his tiny form stiffening. "Mike," Jiminy said, poking the boy's nose with a finger, "I'm real to you. And so is Disney World. You know that, right? It's real to us. To you."
Mike froze, realizing his words had hurt more than he intended. He sighed, attempting to backtrack. "Sorry, Jiminy. I didn't mean it like that. I just... I just want to get home. With Connor, the brothers, and the puppies. This whole thing... it's a nightmare."
Jiminy let out a small, sad sigh but nodded, understanding. He hopped back onto Mike's shoulder.
Just then, a voice called out to them from behind, cheerful and familiar. "Hey, twins!"
The two turned in slight surprise to see Aladdin smiling at them, with Abu perched on his shoulder. They hadn't expected him to find them so quickly.
Before they could fully turn around, Jiminy hastily scurried into Mike's shirt pocket to hide himself, not wanting to be seen by Aladdin or Abu.
But just as the twins opened their mouths to greet him, the sound of boots stomping in the distance caught their attention. A group of guards, led by someone they didn't recognize, emerged from the shadows.
"We're glad we found you!" one of the guards sneered. "You're Aladdin's accomplices, aren't you?"
Mike's eyes narrowed in anger. "Accomplices?! We're not accomplices! We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time!"
The guards weren't listening. They closed in on the twins, ready to apprehend them.
Before they could make a move, a sudden flurry of motion interrupted. Three hooded figures leaped from the alleyways, swiftly surrounding the twins. One of them knocked a guard aside with a well-timed strike, while the others pulled the twins out of the group's reach.
"Hey!" Mike yelled, surprised but relieved. "Who are you?"
The hooded figures didn't answer. They simply motioned for the twins to follow them. As the guards scrambled to regroup, the figures led Drew and Mike through a series of narrow alleyways, ensuring no one could follow them.
Once they were in a safer location, Drew and Mike stopped to catch their breath, thanking the mysterious rescuers. "Thanks! We owe you one," Drew said, his voice full of gratitude.
But the figures didn't respond. Instead, they turned to one another and nodded. One of them reached into their cloak and produced two small bags, throwing it over the twins' heads before they could react.
"What the—?" Mike started, but his voice was muffled as the bag slipped over his face.
"W-What's happening?" Drew sputtered, panic creeping into his voice.
In seconds, everything went dark. The twins were forcibly dragged away, their vision and senses overwhelmed as they were kidnapped by the hooded figures.
