I don't own anything
It had been 2 weeks after Ameer's party. My parents had already found out about my Munchlax egg, and the Marshs had told them about their gift. Speaking of Munchlax, it still has shown no signs of hatching anytime soon.
But that's irrelevant now.
Smeargle were well known for being artistic. They had a paintbrush for a tail for god's sake. But the unique thing about Smeargle is it's move "sketch".
Sketch allowed Smearlge to permanently learn any move it experiences. I already had plans for this, but that could wait.
...
I stood in the clearing next to Pewter City's Gym. Although the land was owned by Brock, He had given access to the public. Although it was free to use, it was empty and boring. Due to this, most people ignored the clearing unless Brock himself was there. Which meant it was the perfect training ground.
I pulled out the Pokeball from my pocket.

Smeargle emerged from the red light.
"Smear?" it looked around in confusion before locking eyes with me.
I hadn't noticed this before, but this Smeargle was short. Most smearlge are on average 3' 11" feet tall. This one was about 3' 2".
I knelt down, still maintaining eye contact.
"Hey buddy, I'm your trainer now." I said with a smile.
...
Smeargle and I had gotten along quite well. My parents hated him though. He would constantly paint on the walls, random dashes of blue and pink often covered entire rooms. After a few days of Smeargle vandalizing the house, my parents agreed to letting him paint my room and only my room. While Smeargle appreciated having a new blank canvas, I didn't appreciate the smell of paint in my room, or the actual paint on my clothes.
But Smeargle was a wonderful starter. We would constantly go out to the clearing by the gym and train. Although it was mainly endurance training, it was still training. Besides, Smeargle needed stamina if my plan was going to work.
Sketch was a valuable move. I wasn't going to waste Smeargle's four chances. I already had four moves in mind. The most important one was teleport.
Teleport was an invaluable move. Not only did it allow for a Pokémon to reposition itself on the battlefield, but it was also the single best mode of transport. It allowed a Pokémon and trainer to teleport anywhere they had been before.
Although teleport was extremely useful, it also came with limitations. It had a large energy expenditure, especially when teleporting people. At most, a single teleport could be used on 4 people without failure, however the Pokémon would become extremely fatigued.
This heavy energy cost was the main reason why teleporting wasn't a mainstream mode of transportation. Big corporations couldn't reasonably teleport groups of people without harming the Pokémon. This led to the Kanto government declaring that teleporting was only allowed for personal use with no more than 3 people.
But that didn't matter right now. Smeargle still needed to experience teleporting to learn the move.
The way sketch worked made it somewhat difficult to achieve this. Sketching a move involved three steps. First, Smeargle needed to witness the move. Secondly, Smeargle would need to experience it. Lastly, Smeargle will need to remain focused for at minimum 3 seconds after experiencing the move to learn it.
This would make learning teleport a problem. I would need to find someone who had a Pokémon with teleport who was also willing to fatigue their Pokémon for a random stranger.
Luckily, I had Ameer, and Ameer had his parents, and his parents had friends.
...
I had left Smeargle in my room before walking to Ameer's house. I really hoped Mrs. and Mr. Marsh knew a trainer or two who had access to teleport. It was really the only way I could reasonably have Smeargle learn it.
I had finally arrived at Ameer's house before knocking on the door and being welcomed in by Ameer.
"What's up Laith."
"Nothing much, are your parents home?"
Ameer titled his head slightly.
"You came here to see my parents and not your bestest pal." He grabbed his chest dramatically and knelt.
"I'm hurt" He sighed dramatically.
"Whatever AM, I just wanted to ask them something." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm just kidding with you man, get in. My dad is home right now." Ameer stood up and welcomed me inside.
...
Mr. Marsh sat on the chair across from me. He had a cup of tea next to him which he periodically drank from.
"So Laith, I hear you've requested an audience with me?" He said with flair. Mr. Marsh was just that type of person. He loved acting old timey and elegant.
"I have indeed Mr. Marsh. I wanted to ask for some help with the gift I received from you."
Mr. Marsh scratched his chin. "Ah yes, that Smeargle. What seems to be the problem?"
"There is no issue with him at all. In fact, he is quite an amazing partner."
"Then will you explain the purpose for requesting my assistance?"
"I'd like for him to learn the move teleport. As you know Smeargle can lea-"
"Yes, Yes, I am aware of Smeargle's versatility. I was quite surprised when you chose him. I just so happen to be acquittanced with a Psychic type trainer as well. She has quite a busy schedule so I cannot say when she'll be available, but I'll talk to her for you."
Mr. Marsh took a sip from his tea before speaking again.
"Is that all?" said Mr. Marsh with a smile. It was obvious he was trying to look cool, but the mustache made of tea made it impossible.
"Yes sir. Thank you for your assistance." I said with a smile.
"Very well, off you go now." Mr. Marsh said before drinking his tea.
...
I arrived back home at 6:32 PM. The sun would be setting soon. I entered my house and went up the stairs back to my room.
I wonder what Smeargle is up to.
I stopped at the foot of my door. loud footsteps and a symphony of "Smear Smear!" came from my room.
I opened the door, dreading to think about what was behind that door.
I was greeted by a beautiful masterpiece on my wall. A vivid painting of the setting sun. Smeargle stood in front of it triumphantly.
I guess my parents are going to regret forbidding him from painting in the other rooms.
