The Fall is back. I can hardly believe how much time has passed since I last wrote. My base on the surface? Solid. Sturdy. Practically a fortress now, thanks to my dear Chester and pigmen friends. I've even begun expanding down into the caves—yes, caves! The depths hold more than just madness, and I've made a start on a base there too. There's so much to write, so much I've learned. I've been too caught up in discovery to even open this journal. But now… now I have to record what I've found.
The cycles. It's all about cycles. I'm starting to understand the true nature of this land. This Constant, as I've come to call it, runs like clockwork. At first, I thought it was chaos—monsters appearing at random, the seasons shifting in strange ways, death lurking at every turn. But now, I see it. Everything has a purpose, a rhythm, a rule. And once you know those rules… oh, once you see the cycles, everything becomes easy. Manageable. Take the seasons, for example. Each one is a challenge, but they're also predictable. Winter was a nightmare until I realized that everything in it follows a set pattern. The Deerclops? A cycle. The Hounds? A cycle. Even the cold itself has a rhythm. And once you understand the rhythm, you can prepare for it, counter it. It's like… like a great cosmic dance, and now I know the steps! Even the creatures follow cycles. Their behaviors, their attacks—it's all just repetition. Once you study them enough, you see the patterns. I used to be terrified of everything in this place, but now… now I feel like I've cracked the code. Take the Hounds for example. They attack in packs, sure, but it's always at regular intervals. And I don't even need to fight them! Just lead them to the Beefalos or another group of creatures, and they take care of the rest. It's… brilliant.
And the caves! Oh, the caves are another world entirely. There's a whole ecosystem down there, completely different from the surface but still governed by the same rules. I've encountered strange creatures but they, too, have cycles. They rise, they hunt, they sleep. It's all predictable, once you pay attention. I've also discovered resources I couldn't have imagined. Glowing mushrooms, rare gems, and more. And there's something about the underground… a deeper mystery I haven't fully uncovered yet. But I will. Oh, I will. I'm starting to think this land is some sort of grand experiment, and if that's the case, well, I'm the perfect person to figure it out!
It's funny, really. At first, I thought I was trapped in some sort of hellish nightmare, but now I see it differently. This place isn't trying to kill me—it's testing me. Testing my understanding, my adaptability. And now that I understand the cycles, I feel… almost invincible. I just have to follow the rules. Everything in its time, everything in its place. There's a beauty to it, really. A beauty in the madness. More to follow about the caves… the discoveries are endless!
