Wait for me
Disclaimer- I do not own Naruto.
Hanabi was waiting for her sister and soon to be brother-in-law to come out. She was happy for her sister. Naruto was Hinata's first love and Hanabi knew how much he meant for her. It was hardly two weeks for their wedding and Hanabi could not wait.
Hinata came out from the place she was standing with Naruto. Her eyes were not focusing at anything and emitted sorrow. Hanabi frowned at this. She thought alone time with Naruto was for something fun and would elevate her mood, she never expected to see a sad looking Hinata. What happened between them and where was Naruto? Her brain stopped thinking when she heard her sister speak to the owner.
"Thank you so much for your assistance, Naomi-sama, but I won't be needing this dress. We called of our wedding." Hinata handed the white satin wedding gown to the shop's owner and turned to Hanabi. That was when Hanabi realised, Hinata was not in the wedding dress, instead she had a simple skirt paired with a crop-top. Hanabi was too confused and shocked she didn't know what to say.
"Hana, I will tell you about this more clearly when we reach our home. Can you call father and tell him that the brunch we planned is off as there is no wedding to be planed." Hinata spoke to her sister, her voice was shaky. It was clear that she was trying hard not to cry, it pained Hanabi to see Hinata like that.
Naruto finally walked out. He looked like he was struck by lightning, all colour drained from his face, his eyes shined with unshed tears and when he finally spoke, his voice carried a large amount of pain.
"Hinata, I do not disagree with what you told me back there. At the same time, I do not completely agree. You were my second choice, I agree. But you mean a lot to me Hinata, you cannot just declare what you mean to me." His voice cracked "It all started with the thought that if I cannot have her, it does not matter who I have. I chose you because I was aware of your feelings. Being around you satisfied my ego, the attention you gave me filled me with immense satisfaction. But I don't know when I genuinely started liking you, when I started spending time with you because it filled me with happiness and not with the pride of winning over a beautiful woman's heart. I don't know when it went from if not her it can be anyone -to- if not her it is only you.
The air was dense with tension. Naomi and Hanabi did not understand what was going on, but they decided to give Naruto and Hinata some privacy when he mentioned some mysterious 'her.' Neither of them realised the absence of Naomi and Hanabi. Both indulged too much into their conversation to observe their surroundings.
After a one-minute break to regain his breath, Naruto continued.
"I know how this sounds. I was really selfish with every decision I took in our relationship. I don't expect you to come back to me after what I just said, because this time I want to earn your love Hinata. I want to come to you and tell you with confidence that 'It is you.' Please wait for me and please don't give up on us." His eyes shined with determination and a new found firmness was audible in his voice. "This ring belongs to you and you alone. The only time I will take it from you is when I can give you your wedding ring with the most genuine love" He handed back the ring she gave to him.
"Hinata, I wanted to ask you a lot of questions when Hanabi informed me about your decision. But from what you told me, I understand that you are not the only woman in his heart." Hiashi Hyuga stopped to see if Hinata gave him her full attention to him, when he found that she was, he continued "It is in no way ok to be in a relationship with a man who does not know what he wants. However, it is important for me to know what are your future plans."
"I don't want to sit alone and weep. I will continue to accept missions and increase my training to improve my skills and relieve some stress. However, I do not plan on pursuing any new relationship." Hinata stated everything that was on her mind without second guessing.
"It is good to know that you have clarity on what to do. Go back to your quarters and take some rest" Hiashi wanted her to know that he appreciated and cared for her. And Hinata understood.
"Ok father. I will take my leave now." She knew that the major thing was done, but Hanabi will ask questions. She knows she cannot escape from Hanabi's questions, so she decided to make the most out of the time she will get to spend alone and replenish her energy.
As soon as she reached her room, Hinata opened her closet's drawer. She took out the ring Naruto gave her. Looking at it, she remembered his words. 'He asked not to give up on us' she thought, hope rising from inside. She placed the ring in her drawer safely and closed it. All the while thinking only one thing- 'I don't want to give up on us either Naruto, but I don't if I can endure this pain another time.'
He collapsed on his bed as soon as he reached his apartment. He told her not to give up. He told her he would love her genuinely. He really wanted to, but the problem was, he didn't know how to. He likes Hinata, a lot, but he doesn't know how to completely move on from Sakura.
'Maybe I should ask someone for help but who?' he thought, wracking his brains to find a person to help him. He found none, but one thing was for sure, if he doesn't act fast, he will lose Hinata too, just like he lost Sakura. That thought made him sick, he would rather die than loose her too.
A/N- I tried to write the story from 3rd person POV because the reviews suggested it. I hope this makes the story better.
