"And what is…magic?"
"It's just science that people don't understand yet. It follows laws. The first law is personal gain. If you use magic to get rich or something you'll get hit back with a 3x rebound. Like maybe you'll get sued for triple what you got."
"That makes sense. How do you use it. Can anyone?"
"It's made up of three parts: desire , will, and belief. Heart, mind, and soul. First You want something. Then you put the magic in motion with your will by preforming the ritual or spell. Then you believe it will happen. That's the hardest part, believing it will really work."
"But where does the energy come from? What's the source?"
"Well who created the universe? It's like that. We don't really know. Most of us think that the belief is what fuels it. The soul. Since that's something that can't be seen or measured, much like magic itself."
"So can anyone do it?"
"It's a matter of faith. Not everyone has the ability to believe in magic. Rational minds like yours are rarely able to believe in something unprovable and mysterious."
"So if I believe it will happen I can do it."
"There's a simple test." She placed a tiny seed in his hand. "Faith as small as a mustard seed."
"So I have to make it sprout." Senku closed his hand around it and held the hand to his chest, closing his eyes.
He yelled out a second later as his hand was covered in vines that took root in the ground.
"Let go." The miko whispered, prying his hand open as the seed actually leapt out and sank into the ground joyfully.
The miko stared at him in shock.
"A little less will next time, ne?"
