Most of Yamura's recollection had come from the stories her mother told her, but with finding the footage and logs of Freeza's tyrannical takeovers as well as from Dondoro's actions on Ryuj, she felt confident that these tales were in fact real…
Vegeta, the King of all Saiyans, chuckled at the news from the high-ranked soldier of the Royal Guard who had announced to him that she was pregnant… by him.
"Very well," he said simply, "Planet Vegeta will have a worthy heir to rule her people. And you, Lady Rosicheena, shall become my queen upon his birth."
Little did he know that "his" birth would turn out to be "her" birth.
"A girl?!" King Vegeta grabbed Rosicheena by the neck and squeezed, "How can you allow such a thing to happen?! And one with such a weak, pathetic power level?!"
"It wasn't my decision, you bastard!" Rosicheena screeched through a tightened windpipe.
King Vegeta sneered and tightened his grip. Rosicheena could no longer make any noise, but that didn't stop her from glaring back at the king.
Soon enough, his grip loosened, and a small smirk escaped from his lip. "Even as I threaten you, you still fight back," he murmured, "That rebellious spirit is why I adore you so much…"
He let go, allowing the woman to catch her breath. "Out of respect for you, I will not have that infant executed," he said as he turned to the head doctor, "Have her fostered to the third-level region."
"Let me have her…" Rosicheena murmured.
Vegeta whipped his head around to face her. "Out of the question. No weak female will be a part of my elite-"
"GIVE ME MY CHILD!"
The king stared violently at his new queen. He had every right to blast her and this worthless child into the afterlife…
But there was no other female Saiyan worthy than Rosicheena. He had always been careful with who he chose to be with. Rosicheena always had a distinct fire within her. Too many Saiyans were far below him, hence why he had become their king.
"Bear me a son," he ordered, "And you can keep that weakling child."
A year later, she bore another child… one with a higher power level and far more worthy heir: Prince Vegeta.
It was clear that he was the favored child of the two in his father's eyes. He barely acknowledged his own daughter. The only reason Princess Eschalot was kept around was out of respect for Queen Rosicheena.
However, after the birth of their third child Tarble, Queen Rosicheena developed an illness that would eventually take her life…
With the queen gone, and his third child to have a power level just as weak as his sister's, King Vegeta finally had the initiative to send away his two less favorable children in order to focus on his favorite heir.
Tarble's whereabouts became unknown, but Eschalot was sent to train with a squadron of Freeza's, sent to overlook the recently taken over planet Ryuj, inhabited by humanoid lifeforms that had descended from dragons millions of years ago. They were most notable for their colorful hair, black sclera and long, sharp horns (though Yamura's sclera was white and her horns were small and barely noticeable underneath her long, wild magenta hair). Some were fighters and warriors, but none were strong enough to fight against the lethal Army of the Freeza Empire.
When Eschalot arrived, she was to be brought under the squad's training and teaching… Instead, she was abused, beaten, and treated as a slave, no better than the people they executed or enslaved on this planet. After all, what would they want with such a pathetic child who was supposed to be an issue of King Vegeta's? The only reason they let her live was because she WAS a child of King Vegeta, and they didn't want to have to answer to him if something were to happen…
That came to an end roughly after two years of her arrival… When news came across the wavelengths of Planet Vegeta's destruction, Freeza's squad didn't waste any time torturing the young princess with this information.
"Your father is dead!" they sneered, "And your planet is gone! There's nothing left for you, so why not just die with the rest of your scummy Saiyan breed?"
And they let loose… They beat her, blasted her, destroyed her spirit, did everything short of killing her… then, they left her in a cold, abandoned field to die.
She would've died, had she not been found by a lone Ryujian who had escaped captivity and came across her by luck.
Saiyans were known around many parts of the galaxy for their ruthlessness and violent tendencies. They were especially hated due to their partnership with Freeza's empire, who were just as evil, if not moreso...
But Takura Shevla was determined to be better than any of those tyrants. So he took the young Saiyan child back to the hideout of the rebellion base.
Takura was a Ryuj farmer who also served as a soldier of the once thriving Ryujian Empire. When Freeza's forces attacked, they managed to wipe out the entire royal bloodline, as well as a huge chunk of the royal army. Takura and his men and families were forced into hiding, knowing they stood no chance against this galactic threat, biding their time until they could find a way to beat back this empire…
Luck was in the stars for Takura, as he went on a scavenging mission, he came across the near-dead Eschalot and brought her back with him, though not for completely generous reasons, albeit. With a Saiyan on their side, the rebellion may stand a chance to reclaim their planet.
Takura's wife nursed Eschalot back to health, and the couple raised and cared for her as they would their own children. It was the first time the little girl felt the real love of a parent… of a real family.
In return, Eschalot vowed to help Takura and the rebellion's cause to fight against Freeza's minions. As she grew in age, she also grew in strength, and she in turn taught the Ryujian rebels most Saiyan-related skills and attacks, which included harnessing ki energy and flight. Also, she had come to form feelings for Takura's eldest son, Pitaya, who returned the gesture…
Eventually, the Freeza Empire was able to auction off Planet Ryuj to a galactic emperor known for his evil tyranny. He and his equally cruel family used the captured Ryujians as slaves. As cruel as it sounded, Takura and the Rebellion were forced to allow these events to play out… Once any trace of Freeza's empire was gone, it would be easier to fight back for the kingdom and the planet. They wouldn't have to worry about anyone else from the empire to come and stop them…
After eighteen years, the rebellion was finally ready to fight back for their planet. Eschalot, all grown up and stronger than she could ever imagine, led the barrage against the tyrant rulers. Combining her natural Saiyan abilities and her intense training by Takura and his fellow soldiers, she gained the experience needed to lead the fight against their new tyrannical overlords.
The new rulers were not at all prepared for the sudden barrage by the amount of Ryujians that were missed, led by the Saiyan they thought was dead. The Ryujians fought valiantly, but it was Eschalot that did most of the damage.
The tyrants tried to radio for help, but come what may, nobody in that evil family could help them as the Ryujians took back their kingdom and their planet, and the galaxy was down one less evil empire.
The Ryujians had won back their freedom and their world. Anyone associated with the evil empire that wasn't killed were converted to slaves and prisoners, as the enslaved Ryujians were granted their freedom once again. Takura, the head of the Rebellion, was named the new king of Ryuj, and officially betrothed Eschalot to Pitaya.
Together, the couple sired eight children over the course of 15 years, with Yamura being the youngest daughter. Of all their daughters, she was the fiercest and most determined, even at the tender age of six.
"Your brother has been hard on you again, hasn't he?" Eschalot asked, approaching the young Yamura, who sat glumly at the edge of the garden.
"He's such a jerk…" Yamura muttered, chin in hands, glaring into the sky.
"He has a lot to prove," Eschalot responded, sitting next to her daughter, "He wants to make sure he is worthy of his status as the next king."
"I hate him…"
Eschalot chuckled. "No, you don't," she replied, "But we can work on ways to defeat him and make sure he swallows his pride." She took a hold of Yamura's chin and raised it so she was facing her mother. "Remember, Yamura… Nobody has the right to make you feel inferior. Do not let others define who you are. You define yourself, no matter how much doubt and adversity you come against."
Yamura shook her head to free herself of her mother's hand. "I know, Mother…" she muttered, "You tell us this all the time."
"I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true," said Eschalot, "Your grandfather had cast me aside for being 'unworthy' and 'weak'. People in Freeza's army thought less of me for being a Saiyan. Ryujians had feared me, even today they still do, for the same reason." She placed a comforting hand on her daughter's shoulder, "I will continue to face all odds, so that I may set an example for my own children."
*KA-BLAAAM!*
The tender mother/daughter scene was violently interrupted by the sound of a blast striking the castle and blowing half of it up.
"What-?!" Eschalot jumped to her feet and looked up. Through the clouds, she could barely make out what looked like a giant spacecraft, yet she couldn't feel any power levels emitting from it. Impossible! How could something that could cause such great damage not be detected? How did this slip by her?!
Ryujian civilians and soldiers raced out of the wrecked castle, but not one of them anyone Eschalot was familiar with… Where was Pitaya? Their children? Or Takura?! Were any of them, okay?!
The answer to that unfortunately came quickly… Eschalot suddenly felt a ginormous power level come from the ship as a gargantuan literally dropped down, crashing into what remained of the royal castle, and crushing whatever piece remained… For added measure, he even danced about, making sure everything was squashed underneath. Bits of blood and gore could be seen under his feet…
"Pi… Pitaya…" Eschalot murmured in disbelief, "My children…. Takura…! You… you killed them...!" Tears welled in her eyes, as did the aura around her body. "You… BASTARD! I'LL KILL YOU!" she screamed as she shot from her spot towards the gargantuan creature and struck him down with one blow. He fell over, crushing any and all homes that were unfortunate to be below him.
Yamura jumped away, her back against the stoned wall of the garden. She had never seen her mother in such a form before, nor ever this angry…
"Tsk tsk… So like a Saiyan to act without thinking first…"
Eschalot whipped around to come face to face with a pale-skinned, balding, green-haired alien. "You...!" she snarled, "You orchestrated this, didn't you?"
"Eschalot, is it?" the alien sneered, "Yes… The lost princess of the Saiyans… We received an SOS stemming from years ago from this very planet you besieged."
"What?!" Eschalot spat, "No! I didn't-!"
BAM!
The man didn't let her finish as he sent her hurling back towards the ground by the garden. She skidded to a halt just in front of Yamura. "Mother!"
"Yamura…" Eschalot stammered, "Stay hidden…!" The Saiyan woman slowly got back to her feet as she watched the alien hover closer. It was then she got a good look at his outfit…
It came from Freeza's Empire.
"No..!" she cried, "Freeza sent you, didn't he?!"
"Of course not!" the alien spat, "I guess you didn't hear about the Freeza Empire being destroyed once and for all… As a former servant against my will, I am making it my personal mission to ensure EVERY last single member of his evil empire is killed off!"
"Then you have no reason to attack this planet!" shouted Eschalot, "They were enslaved by Freeza as well."
"I'm aware!" sneered the alien, "YOU led the attack!"
"No!" cried Eschalot, "I-"
The alien slammed his fist across her face once more, knocking her back. "Do you take me as a fool?!" he screamed, "Here you are, the daughter of King Vegeta, sent to take over this planet, and treat it as your own little kingdom! I, Dondoro, have come to free these people and destroy any last trace of Lord Freeza's rule…" He snarled viciously, "ESPECIALLY those of SAIYANS!"
Eschalot narrowed her eyes… Clearly there was no trying to convince this crazy alien otherwise. And he killed her family…
He was not allowed to draw another breath.
She clenched her fists tightly and summoned up the power to double her energy, a Ryujian tactic that was taught to her by her husband… "RENTATSU RASSHU!"
Her aura turned red, her eyes went completely white, and she blasted into Dondoro, her speed doubled as she slammed fist after fist into his body from his face down to his gut. She then placed both hands together and blasted a massive ki ball into him, sending him flying across the horizon. She shot right after him, determined not to let him have a moment to catch his breath.
Unfortunately, a moment was all he needed to hit a button on a device strapped to his wrist. The moment Eschalot approached, he had rammed a suddenly strengthened fist deep into her gut. The queen spewed a mixture of vomit and blood from her mouth. Dondoro then removed his fist and grabbed her by the neck, twisting around to build enough momentum to hurl her back over the horizon and to her beloved castle, where she nearly knocked into Yamura trying to escape.
"Mother!" Yamura cried, rushing to the downed queen's side.
Eschalot slowly and weakly raised her head, blood dripping from scalp injuries and from her mouth. "Y… Yamura…" she weakly said, trying to raise her hand up to reach her, "D… don't stay… Ru… run…"
*SQUASH*
Engraved in her memory forever was the image of her mother's head bursting as Dondoro slammed his foot on it for a landing. Yamura was frozen in fear and shock. In the course of just 10 minutes, she had lost her entire family.
"Now then…" Dondoro muttered as he loomed over a frightened Yamura, "What shall we do about you..?"
Is this it? Was this man Death? Is this how things end? In a heartbeat?
It was all too much for the young child to take, and she let out an ear-piercing scream. Dondoro quickly clamped his ears in annoyance, then raised a fist to put this brat out of her misery once and for all, when suddenly…
*FWASH*
A bright light flashed out, nearly blinding him. He looked back to see the child's aura was suddenly bright yellow, and her hair had turned blonde and spiky.
Wait… He's heard of this before… But there's no way it could be true! It was supposed to be only a myth!
But this little child… was a SUPER SAIYAN.
He didn't want to allow her a single shot. He went right in and aimed for her gut. Let her suffer the same fate as her mother…
But the child was quick and spritzed upward in a blink of an eye. "Rentatsu Rasshu!" she screamed, and her aura blended its Super Saiyan gold with the Rasshu's red to form a fiery orange aura.
Dondoro wasn't given a chance to hit any buttons or even guard himself as Yamura rushed in and started pummeling him mercilessly. She was only a child… but she was lethal! Even this stronger form Dondoro was borrowing wasn't enough to go against her!
His mentality, however, was still intact and he was able to telepathically call for help… Soon, his followers had joined the battle, managing to pry off the child, only to be beaten by her… She gave chase, brutally murdering anyone in her way…
She was finally caught in the palms of Gigantor, slapping her like a fly. It would have squashed her normally, but her super form provided some protection and only left her delirious. Another soldier rushed in, grabbed her arms, and released an electric force from their body, sending high voltages into her before Dondoro came in for the final hit. He slammed his fist into her gut, and she went crashing into the ground below.
As Dondoro and his people landed by her, Gigantor stepped up and raised his foot over her. "I squish?" he asked.
Dondoro held up his hand. "Wait…"
Everyone else blinked. "What?!"
"But Dondoro!" cried one of the soldiers, "She wiped half of us out!"
"She's too dangerous to have around!"
"We can't let such power go to waste…" Dondoro replied, "Don't worry, she's very young… If we play our cards right, we can keep her on a tight leash and she won't even know it…" He then gave a devilish smirk. "Then when the time is right, we'll dispose of her like we would the reset of Freeza's trash."
When Yamura finally regained consciousness, she found herself in a dark, strange looking, unfamiliar room. As if that wasn't troubling enough, she found herself strapped to a cold metal table, barely able to move. She let out a scream as she struggled against the bonds.
"Don't panic! Please!"
Yamura paused to see a figure walk in from the darkness. Though it was dim in the room, she could still recognize the face of the man that killed her mother and tried to kill her too. She bared her teeth and struggled again.
"Easy! Eeeeasssy…" Dondoro said soothingly, "I'm not going to hurt you… I promise."
"You killed my family!" Yamura screamed.
"I'm so sorry…" said Dondoro, "It wasn't my intention to harm them… But we needed to stop your mother from taking over this planet."
"What do you mean?" Yamura cried.
"Don't you know?" Dondoro held up a remote, and a hologram visual popped up in front of Yamura. "Your mother was a Saiyan… Saiyans are the most vicious and fearful species in this entire galaxy… and they served under this creature: Lord Freeza."
The images showed Saiyan Warriors battling civilizations, killing and maiming many innocents. The video proceeded to show many Saiyans turning into massive Ape Creatures and crushing the people and structures around them.
Dondoro went on to show Yamura videos of soldiers similarly dressed like Saiyans attacking and taking over other worlds.
He even showed her videos of Ryujian people locked up and being sold off, if not beaten to death…
"Mother…" Yamura said quietly, "Mother said she helped to free the people of Ryuj…"
"Free them of what? Themselves?" said Dondoro, "She only enslaved them on Freeza's orders. Some had no choice but to follow her. Others were too blindly devoted and refused to speak ill of her. Your father unfortunately was one of those people… I'm sorry, but we cannot allow those who support evil to continue living. It goes against our mission…"
"Mission…?"
"Lord Freeza may be dead, but others have survived… As opposers to his evil regime, we MUST destroy anything that is left of Freeza's empire. It's the only way to keep the galaxy safe. I know this must be hard for you, but your mother was part of that empire, and she had plans to take over more planets than just this one."
Yamura stared downwards in disbelief. "And… my siblings…?"
"The older one definitely had plans to take her place," Dondoro answered, "As for the younger ones… We should've given them a chance like we're giving you one."
Yamura glanced upwards. "Huh?"
"Young lady… You have an exorbitant gift. It's unfortunate you've been tainted with Saiyan blood, but you have such a strong Ryujian side… Come with us, child. Join us. Help rid the universe of Freeza scum… and Saiyan scum…"
"I was just a child," Yamura finished, "So of course I was easily swayed… but now I feel so stupid for believing him… My mother would hate me if she knew what I did…"
"It's not your fault," said Pan, "You were a kid. Dondoro's the real creep here, taking advantage of you like that… and then betraying you in the end!"
"Doesn't take away the pain, though…"
Pan lowered her head. "I'm so sorry…"
"Don't be," Yamura grunted, then gave a small smirk, "At least I got to kill him in the end."
"That's right!" Pan chimed, "So… What are you going to do now?"
Yamura sighed. "I dunno… Fix the ship and leave, I guess."
"But where will you go?"
Yamura was silent.
"Is staying here on Earth an option?"
The Saiyan/Ryujian darted her eyes to the side. "Guess it really doesn't matter where I go, does it?"
"Well, you DID promise to train me!"
"You expect me to train you for the rest of my life?"
"No! Just until I can kicK YOUR butt no problem!"
Yamura chuckled. "Yeah, sure, okay." She gave another sigh. "Thing is, kid, I may be strong, but not nearly as strong as I could be. I have too much to learn myself."
Pan blinked at her words. Just like me…
She then smiled. "Then let's learn together!"
Yamura looked back at Pan, and what ALMOST resembled a smile cracked at the side of her mouth. "Yeah, sure. Why not?"
Pan clenched her fists in excitement. "Great! Then let's get training!"
"Food first."
Pan stopped and looked down at Yamura's plate. She barely touched her MRE. "Oh right… I did offer to get you food, didn't I?"
"You sure you won't take this as an opportunity to escape?"
"No way! And hey, you're welcome to hunt me down and kill me if that becomes the case."
Yamura snickered. "Sure… Assuming your daddy won't come to the rescue again."
Pan suddenly remembered. She had completely left her father, her entire family, and her friends behind just to take up this training. Who knows how much time has passed… and how they were doing without her?
"Hey, um… how long HAVE we been doing this, anyway? I'm sure my family is worried sick…"
"Go see them if you want."
Pan thought briefly about this… "If I do… they'll just make me stay. I can't risk it just yet… I'm sure they're fine."
Yamura sat up from the table and walked over to a nearby control panel. She pulled up a program, tapped a few numbers, and clicked around. "Here we go," she replied, "According to your time system here… Two planetary revolvements, seven cycles, and ten days."
Pan had to think for a moment what she meant. Then she counted in her head and on her fingers. "Wait… So that would mean… June, July, August, September, October, November, December… and then 10 days would be… Eeek!" she suddenly squealed with delight, "December 24th! Christmas Eve!"
"Chris… Wha..?"
"Oh, right! You probably wouldn't have heard of it… Well, it's only the most amazing, wonderful holiday of the entire year! Presents, TV specials, lights, food… FOOD!"
Yamura's eye twitched, as she was getting sick and tired of Pan's constant shrieking…
"You've got to try Asian cuisine!" Pan beamed, "It's been a family tradition as long as I can remember! Every Christmas Eve, my parents go out all buying a whole lot of Chinese take out and the whole family just chows down! You haven't lived until you've tried Kung Pao Chicken!"
"Kung pow, huh?" Yamura could only imagine punching a type of lifeform to death before chowing down.
"And there's chow mein, peking duck, won tons, spring rolls…" Pan's mouth had practically become a waterfall as she thought back to all the Chinese she used to eat. "Oh wait! You got rid of my old clothes, but you didn't throw away my wallet, did you?"
"That thing on the chain? No, I saved it."
"Good! I'm gonna need that if I'm going to buy out any Chinese restaurant. I'll be back in a few!"
Yamura showed Pan the exit, and instructed how to return inside the ships' secret side door when she returned. She watched as the younger Saiyan blasted into the sky excitedly. It seemed as if Pan wasn't trying to escape after all, and that she really did want to buy Chinese food to bring back for Yamura to try…
Deep down, Yamura was pleased by this… She was looking forward to trying Kung Pao Chicken, after all.
...
A/N: A lot of the backstory was borrowed from JoSav's "Chikura: Desolation and Despair" concerning Vegeta's mother and fan made sister, though I went with the popular idea for Vegeta's mother "Rosicheena", and I made sure to include Tarble... though he won't be playing any significant part in the story. It's just a reminder that he DOES exist.
Yamura's surname had been revealed as "Shevla" so now I can explain her name... "Shevla" is another word for Dragon Stalk Yam, whereas "Yamura" derives from the word "Yam" itself.
"Eschalot" DOES come from Dragon Ball Super, as it's a name Vegeta considered naming Bra before Bulma beat him to the punch. So you could say Vegeta considered naming his daughter after his sister...
Finally, "Pitaya" is a type of dragon fruit.
