Six months… That's how long they were in space for. Gohan had kept tabs on the dates since blasting off in January.

And of those six months, they were only given a small amount of clues as to where Pan went off to.

The best they could do was go the same direction that Gohan remembered the spaceship going off towards. At one point, Giru was able to pick up a small trace of Pan's ki, which they followed. But they had to stop at different planets to restock on fuel and food. Then they would travel forward in hopes of picking up her energy level, even just a small trace…

Their best lead yet was when they stopped at a space pub. After making quick work of the restless, rude patrons that tried to pick fights, someone was able to tell them about two women who, not too long ago, turned the pub into a wreck and took all their drinks. They got a good direction on where to go, but after only a couple weeks, Giru lost track of her ki.

As the small robot did everything he could to find Pan's ki once more, Goten and Trunks tried to pass the time by sparring… but their ship wasn't big enough to allow adequate training, so there was a lot of complaining about cramped spaces…

Gohan escaped the chaos by retreating to the sleep quarters, laying in his futon, staring at the ceiling, and getting lost in his thoughts. Except for Christmas Day, he had been without Pan for a good three years now… All because she wanted to become a serious fighter. If he had caved in… no, simply given some leverage, would she still be home with them on Earth? Surely, but then how much more would she want? How far would she want to go? She would end up just like him…

Gohan shook his head furiously. His attempt to simply keep his daughter safe and happy was blowing up in his face… or was it he was the one that made a mess by setting up these standards…

If his father were here, he'd of course advocate for Pan training. The only reason he didn't train her simply was because Gohan and Videl asked him not to, stating they didn't want her going through what Gohan was forced to do as a child. At least Goku obliged without complaint, although he was allowed to teach her the basics, which included flying.

But if Piccolo were here, what would he advise?

'Stop being a stubborn fool, Gohan, and train that poor girl.'

Yeah… That's definitely what he would say…

Piccolo obliged Gohan's request to not train Pan as well, though he expressed more disappointment.

"This is beyond unreasonable, Gohan," he scolded, "You realize the world can't just depend on your father and Vegeta for the rest of our lives. Hell, YOU won't be here forever either. There needs to be a new generation of warriors as well."

"So you're looking to put her through what you forced me to do when I was her age?" Gohan spat.

Piccolo narrowed his eyes. "Is that what this is about?" he asked, "I said I was sorry for what I've done. But you can't argue with the results either."

"Either way, I don't want her to have to go through what I did."

"That should be up to her, don't you think?"

Gohan lowered his eyes in response. "When the time comes, we'll discuss it over," he responded, "For now, she's too young to comprehend what's in store."

Piccolo's demeanor remained unchanged, but he let out a heavy sigh. "Very well," he conceded, "If you wish… But I still say you're shooting yourself in the foot."

'Well, well… If it isn't the consequences of my actions,' Gohan grumbled to himself in his head.

He had a gut feeling he should've talked it out more with Pan the moment she decided Mr. Satan's training wasn't good enough… That she literally wanted to go into Z Fighter territory.

All he could think of was keeping his little girl safe… but he knew that wasn't the only reason.

But right now, he pushed all of that to the side and concentrated on how he was going to punish Pan for not only disobeying him, but constantly running away, putting him and everyone through all this distress…

No… All he truly wanted was just to see her again.

"GOD DAMMIT!" Yamura's voice rang about the spaceship.

The two furry alien children huddled close together in the corner as the half-Saiyan/half-Ryujian closed in fiercely on them. "Did you little shits seriously eat FOUR cycles worth of food?!" she seethed.

The little boy of the two knitted his brow and took a step forward. "We need to eat too, you know!"

"You don't need to eat THAT much!"

"We're sorry…" the little girl shuddered.

"We left you some food, lady" the boy snapped, "So chill out!"

"All you left me was those damn MREs!" Yamura screeched, "Why couldn't you have eaten THOSE?!"

"Those pre-made meals are GROSS!" the boy stuck out his tongue for emphasis.

His bravado dropped immediately once Yamura grabbed his tongue and he began shrieking. "Watch your tongue or I'll rip it right out!" she snapped before letting go quickly, "Since you ate my food, I guess I have no choice but to EAT YOU!"

"Stop it, Yamura!" Pan cried as she suddenly appeared in front of the two children, holding her arms out protectively, "They're just kids! We'll just stock up on more food on the next planet."

Yamura stook a step back, seething once more. "Until THAT runs out in less than a cycle," she said, "How long are we putting up with these pests, Pan?"

"Until they figure out where their planet is," said Pan, "They don't know how far the pirates took them, and they can't understand any of the mechanics in the control room, remember?"

"Then we chuck them out the hangar like we did the pirates!"

Pan narrowed her eyes. "That's not going to happen. I won't let you!"

Yamura glared back fiercely. "Then YOU can get shot out in their place."

"You going back on your word not to kill me?"

"I said I WOULD kill you if you got on my nerves! These shits have been nothing but a nuisance since YOU decided on my behalf to allow them to stay on the ship. Therefore…"

In her fist, a ball of ki began forming. "... you should die in their place."

Pan grew a bit worried, but grit her teeth and eyed Yamura tightly. "If it means they survive, then I'll gladly die for them…"

"Pan, no!" the little girl cried, trying to run at her but was held back by her brother.

"It's okay, Koira," Pan replied, "I said I'd take care of you all…"

Yamura just stood there, glaring at Pan while the energy ball grew stronger in her fist. Pan stood her ground. Believe it or not, this was not their first stand-off…

The ki ball fizzled away. "God, I can't stand you…" Yamura muttered, turning her head. "But we're not keeping these idiots any longer either. I'll find us a planet that houses lost aliens."

Pan let out her breath. It wasn't the outcome she was hoping for, but it was certainly better than the alternative…

"Science Log, Stardate 293584… Project ACH-1-3RA was successful in all of his recent round of tests. Strength is at an all time high with 300 volumes. Vitals show no abnormalities. Once I run a blood test to validate his species, he should be ready for auction. End transmission."

The scientist put down his mic, and looked over the glass capsule that held a now-unconscious young man. He was getting stronger every time he tested his strength… but he was becoming more aware, and thus more rebellious. Every day he was on this space colony created danger for everyone on board…

But that also made him extremely valuable…

Speaking of value… Where were those pirates and their haul? They should've been here ages ago… Hopefully they didn't take their down payment and take off. Not after all the credits he had offered them.

Better send the troops to hunt them down… They crossed the wrong scientist.

The planet was supposed to be considered a safe haven for aliens who were lost or displaced. It was a peaceful, harmonious habitat. So when a large, intimidating spaceship entered its atmosphere, it was only natural that people started panicking.

"Grand Priest!" one inhabitant cried to their leader, who stood at the window of the tallest tower. "What do we do? Somebody reported that this ship is similar to that of Freeza's Empire!"

"Stand your ground," the Grand Priest replied coolly as he remained unmoved, "Freeza's Empire was destroyed years ago. We don't want to jump to conclusions. Still, set a perimeter. Let's see what their intentions are first…"

Guards immediately began surrounding the area where the mighty ship landed. They locked and loaded their guns the moment the hatch opened and lowered itself down as a ramp. In the entrance was a group of furry, beady-eyed aliens, huddled behind a short-stature, raven-haired young woman wearing red.

"Don't shoot!" Pan called out as she held out her arms and took to the air, centering herself in the crossfire. "We're not here to harm anyone. These Puffles were victims of space pirates, and they need to find their way home."

The guards slowly lowered their weapons, but still remained on guard. Pan was glad Yamura decided to stay in the control room… At this rate, she would've massacred everyone by now…

The lead Puffle took a step forward. "My name is Captain Medve," he announced, "I was head of our space cruise when we were overcome by the space pirates. This woman rescued us, but now I'm afraid we have overstayed our welcome on her friend's ship… If you could help us locate our home, we would forever be grateful!"

"Stand down."

The guards obeyed the voice, putting away their weapons and creating an opening in their barrier as the Grand Priest himself walked though. "I know of Puffles quite well," he said, "Although some served in war, they are known to be friendly and, for the most part, harmless. You are free to stay as long as you need."

The alien Puffles let out a collective sigh of relief in response.

"As for you, young lady," the priest motioned towards Pan, "Your species looks familiar… Kindly, tell me who and what you are?"

The girl scratched behind her head. "Well, uh… My name is Pan, and I guess you could call me human…"

"Human?" the Grand Priest mused, rubbing his chin, "How odd. I've heard humans are quite weak, especially the female kind…"

Pan clenched her fist. "Now you just wait one minute, mister!" she seethed, "Being a female human doesn't make anyone weak! We are just as strong as anyone else, and I can prove it!"

"It's true!" Koira cried, "She took on an entire platoon of space pirates all by herself!"

The Grand Priest stroked his chin some more. "Perhaps there is something that makes you extraordinary."

"You better believe it!" Pan grinned, "I guess being quarter-Saiyan helps too."

At this, the priest's eyes widened like saucers. "Did you say Saiyan?!"

The guards dropped back down and aimed their guns at Pan once more. "Huh?! Hey, what the-"

"Unlike humans, Saiyans are far more fierce and dangerous!" the Grand Priest said, "We cannot risk the likes of you coming onto our planet and-"

"Wait!" Medve shouted, "She's not like other Saiyans! She's the one that risked her life to save us from those space pirates! AND she stayed by our side to ensure a safe trip to this safe haven planet!"

"Is that so?" spoke the priest, "A Saiyan helping others… certainly sounds odd. But I do trust the word of a Puffle. Therefore, you may ALL stay."

Pan crossed her arms and smirked. "That's more like it."

"To thank you for your heroism, please stay for dinner. We'll make sure you have enough to leave for the rest of your journey."

"Pan, what the hell is going on?" Yamura was able to catch up with Pan as the guards were leading her and the Puffles away, "Why are you leaving with them instead of getting back on the ship?!"

"They're treating us to dinner!" Pan grinned.

Yamura's fierce demeanor faded slightly. "Oh… Can't argue with that."

"According to their last check-in, they ditched the cruiser and found themselves an even bigger ship," one soldier radioed to his partner as they zipped across the stars in their own space jets.

"Rodger," the other replied, "I'm picking up their coordinates now… Aw, that's just low. Dropping them off as a Safe Haven planet?"

"Like that's gonna stop us!" the first soldier laughed. "Hey, hold up… I'm getting a reading here… NO WAY!"

"What is it?"

"That's a Saiyan tail I see! There are Saiyans on that planet!"

"What?! We hit the jackpot!"

"Hang on, Saiyans are low in numbers but still tough as hell! We better call backup…"

The feast was about as grand as anyone could imagine. The food was exceptional, despite Pan not necessarily knowing what it was, but she was never really a picky eater, especially having a grandmother who would cook just about anything…

She pleaded with Yamura to be on her best behavior, but Yamura said she would make no promises… However, she too seemed enamored by all the great food too much to be annoyed by anything.

Pan was also enjoying her time playing with the kids and spending more time with Koira. "Pan," Koira asked after a long lesson of tag, "Do you really have to go? Why can't you stay with us? We're so much better than that mean lady, after all…"

Pan stopped and thought for a moment. Koira's company, albeit short, was far more pleasant that Yamura's has ever been.

But Yamura had so much to offer when it came down to becoming stronger…

And at some point, she wanted to go back home to Earth…

"Well, Koira… I-"

A rattling explosion cut her off. Koira grabbed Pan around the waist in fright. Pan looked up to see what was going on, and noticed in the sky, a massive ship. Possibly 100 times bigger than Dondoro's ship, was hovering in the atmosphere. Ships were flying all around, some shooting lasers and gunfire.

"STOP!" Pan screamed, rushing out into the battlefield.

"Pan, get back here!" Yamura chased after her.

"Everyone to the bunkers!" the Grand Priest cried, "Hurry!"

A small family outside raced their way towards the tower, where one of the bunkers was located. However, a blast from one of the speeding jets above blasted at the tower, causing an explosion and the tower to come tumbling down… towards the small family, doomed to be crushed…

Had Pan not rushed in, managing to gather them all in her arms and speed them towards the entrance to the bunker. "Hurry!" she cried as she let them down and they did as told, running into the safety of the bunker. The quarter-Saiyan glared back up as she heard laser fire once more, nearly striking at the innocent bystanders. Growing furious, she launched into the air and shot right towards the attacking jet and tore right through it, leaving a trail of destruction.

She knew she had just killed someone, but at that moment, she didn't care. She was going to protect those who didn't deserve to die…

Yamura, on the other hand, had no interest in protecting anyone and instead focused on the killing. She took out several jets in one shot, but a particular big jet was giving her issues. It had stronger blasts that managed to strike, though not take her out. It also had swift maneuverability, and evaded many of her attacks. Though once she went into Super Saiyan mode, she was finally able to destroy it with a good ki blast.

Something told her to keep an eye on Pan, so she quickly glanced to the side to check on her, and saw she was helping more civilians escape harm;s way and into the bunkers… and she failed to see another large jet barge in and aim itself squarely at her. It didn't have the chance before Yamura blasted through it.

"Yamura!" Pan cried, "You saved me?"

"Watch your damn back, kid!" Yamura spit, "I'm not gonna keep fighting your fights. Leave them and help me out here!"

"But they need help!"

"These guys are tough! I need you too! Trust me, you'll be helping these guys most by helping me kill these jerks!"

"We'll be all right," one of the aliens Pan was helping smiled reassuringly, "Go!"

It wasn't often that Yamura asked Pan for help… In fact, Pan was certain this was the first time ever. So she nodded, and blasted into the air with Yamura.

More and more jets started pouring in from the massive ship in the distance. They were larger and quicker. "Don't stop for anything!" Yamura shouted, "Kill as many as possible!"

Pan did as told. Yamura noticed whenever the jets where taken out, stronger ones would take their place. They were starting to get on her nerves…

"Pan!" she ordered, "Let's take them all out at once!"

Pan nodded, and both women cupped their hands to the sides. Giant balls of energy started forming, one blue and the other gold.

"Sei KAZE!"

"KamehameHA!"

The combined powers crashed into the line of jets, destroying each of them in no more than a minute.

"That ought to do it," Pan breathed, having nearly exhausted herself.

"Until more of those damn attack jets come back," Yamura grumbled. She floated there, watching, and waiting until the inevitable line of new attackers came…

Nothing yet…

Then the two noticed something from the ship itself. What looked like cannons and lasers unveiled themselves, and aimed at the two before blasting in a fury. Suddenly, Pan and Yamura found themselves scrambling out of range of blasts. They missed them demi-Saiyans, but struck buildings and landscapes of the Safe Haven instead.

"Stop attacking!" Pan screamed, "What do you want with them?"

Yamura noticed another round of lasers being blasted, coming straight for them. She quickly grabbed Pan and burst out of the way, and then looked back to survey the damage.

Some of the blasts hit more buildings, other blasts had actually diverted and started following them.

Then it hit her…

These attackers weren't aiming necessarily for any of the innocent refugees on the planet…

For whatever reasons, she and Pan were the targets.

"Rentatsu Rasshu!" Yamura doubled her speed and shot off across the skies, towards their ship, Pan in tow.

"What are you doing?" Pan cried, "We've got to protect everyone here!"

"Trust me!" Yamura replied, "These guys aren't interested in them! They want US! We'll be doing them a HUGE favor by leaving!"

Fortunately the ship was still in one piece as they returned. Yamura blasted in and hurried straight to the controls, managing to get the ship airborne before the strikes could attack. She activated the hyper-drive and blasted out of the planet, just making it out of the planet's atmosphere, when suddenly the ship halted, causing the two to fall over violently. Yamura quickly jumped back to her feet and rushed back to the controls. "DAMN!" she cursed as she furiously tapped at buttons and levers, "Everything's frozen! What the hell?!"

"You two are quite the troublemakers," a mysterious voice rang out over the intercom, "You killed half my men! But that's to be expected from Saiyans. Foolish, however, to think you could escape me. You left yourselves wide open to my magnetic force field. Now, if you wish to survive… You'll stop resisting, and come along onto my colony. I have much business to discuss with you…"

"Who is he, Yamura?" asked Pan.

Yamura shook her head. "Don't know… Probably a bounty hunter, or someone like Dondoro. If he was targeting us, though, he probably wants to exterminate Saiyans, much like I used to…"

"Saiyans sure have a bad rep…"

"Well they are war-hungry brutal people… I should know."

"You all never met my grandfather… But what do we do now?"

"We can't do anything while inside the ship… We'll just have to go along for now…"

Meanwhile, deep inside one of the bunkers…

"I should have never allowed those Saiyans to stay…" The Grand Priest sighed.

"It wasn't your fault, sir," someone spoke up, "They were supposedly friendly."

"They WERE friendly!" Koira cried, "Pan was the best!"

"Not so much that Yam woman," her brother piped in, "Or whatever her name was…"

"Either way, they didn't lead the attack," Medve said, "If anything, they tried to save us."

"Hey, listen…" A woman held her ear out. "There's no more gun fire… and I don't even hear the ships speeding by. They must have stopped them!"

"Give it a moment," the Grand Priest ordered, "We must make sure it is truly safe…"

The crowd did as told. After a long moment of silence, a few people finally opened the bunker doors and piled out. The scene was empty, save for some destruction. But there were no more ships. Even the one that the Puffles arrived on was gone.

"What do you think that was all about?" a person asked.

The Grand Priest shook his head. "It appears they left once the Saiyans left…" he scoffed, "Good riddance."

Koira looked up into the sky and clasped her little hands together. "Pan… Wherever you are… Good luck!"

After a long rest, Gohan made his way back to the cockpit. Trunks was in the pilot's seat, and Goten was snoozing in the chair to his right.

"Giru, any trace of Pan?" Gohan asked the small robot, positioned on top of the dashboard.

Giru sounded as if he was doing a quick scan. "Negative," he replied, "No sign of Pan's energy."

"Same as the past few days," Trunks sighed.

Gohan hopelessly plopped into the third seat. He noticed Trunks giving him a side-eye, but glancing back forward when he caught him. "What is it, Trunks?" he asked.

Trunks gave a low sigh. "Gohan… How long are we going to do this?"

"What? Search for Pan?"

"We've been out here for six months already," said Trunks, "At least when we were looking for Dragon Balls, we had a radar. But with Pan, we're just relying on luck…"

"Isn't that what Giru is for?" Gohan snapped.

"Well it's hard when Pan's traveling in a ship that conceals her ki," said Trunks, "And to be honest, she-" He quickly stopped himself.

Gohan narrowed his eyes. "She what?"

Trunks lowered his head. "She doesn't even want to be found!" he blurted, "Face it! This is the SECOND time she's done this, and she's doing a damn good job of hiding! We can't keep going all over the galaxy hoping we'll run into her!"

"Trunks we can't very well let her go out into space with no one but a madwoman!"

"Pan made her choice, Gohan! Why are you intent on trying to make her do otherwise?"

"She's my daughter, Trunks! I can't just abandon her! When you're a father yourself one day, you'll understand."

"How can you expect me to become a father when we'll basically be stuck on this ship the rest of our lives? Some of us just want to go home."

Gohan grunted. "And some of us CAN'T go home…"

Trunks blinked at this. What the heck did he mean by that?

"Please Trunks…" Gohan continued, "If not to bring Pan home, at least I want to talk to her…"

Trunks gave an exasperated sigh. "The things I do for you guys…"

"PAN FOUND! PAN FOUND!" Giru suddenly went berserk, waving his arms and legs around.

Trunks and Gohan whipped their heads around in shock. "What?!"

Goten snorted out of his sleep. "Huh, wha..? Pan?"

"Where's Pan?!" Gohan demanded.

"PINPOINTING PAN'S ENERGY!" Giru paused for a moment, "TEN PARSECS, NINETY DEGREES RIGHT!"

"Trunks!" Gohan ordered, but nothing more needed to be said.

"I'm on it!" Trunks grabbed a lever and pushed it all the way forward, going full throttle with the ship. "Let's go!"

A/N: Many things were lifted from KyLewin's "DB New Beginnings: The Ammit Saga", from the furry aliens (I named them Puffles) and their names.

Sorry if the "jet battle" seemed rushed... I had a lot of trouble trying to write that whole battle out... But in the end I was like "screw it" and wrote whatever...
