Chapter 3: The Bowel Demon

Narrator POV

For a moment, everyone stood still as the two faces one another. Mostly mesmerized by the flaming blade in Kaoi's hand as the display of fire magic was nothing seen before. Even Elsa had to make a remark about it.

"My, my, it seems that you're no ordinary swordsman. To be able to use fire magic like that. Will your bowels be just as hot? I wonder." The assailant said as she ignores Kaoi calling her a demon.

Kaoi momentarily confused looks at his sword and notices that it is indeed on fire with orange flames spewing. Not something he typically sees when using flame breathing.

Feeling confident, the assailant dashes at Kaoi to take a strike at his bowels.

Only for Kaoi to block the strike from the purple knife and counters with.

"Flame Breathing Second Form: Rising Scorching Sun"

Kaoi releases an upward arch attack that forms a wheel of flames excepting to decapitate the attacker in the process. However, before the strike could hit she jumped away at the last moment.

"Impressive, had I not dodged that would have surely been the end of me and without the scent of hesitation on your face. You have killed before haven't you boy."

"You know, despite me introducing myself. I never got your name" replied Kaoi

"Very well then, I am Elsa Granhiert, the Bowel Hunter. Does that satisfies you?" asked the now named Elsa.

"Yes," Kaoi said before shouting "NOW PUCK!"

"Here we go" Puck exclaims as he summons several ice shards.

"As long as we are introducing ourselves, the name's Puck and you do well to remember that to the grave"

With that, Puck unleashes a volley of ice shards. Creating a cloud of dust and debris from where Elsa was standing.

"Thanks for the assist Puck," Kaoi said as he takes a few steps forward. "But I'm afraid I am going to have to ask you as well as Satella and the others to leave,"

Everyone looks at Kaoi confused by his request. Rom and Felt more shocked at the name he had just spoken.

"I can't fight her as well as protect you guys at the same time. Not to mention as her speeds I can only hope to match,"

"What do you mean, that spirit over there skewered her dead with that last attack" exclaimed Felt.

"Take a good look then at your 'skewered corpse' then," Kaoi said as he points his sword at the cloud of dust.

Indeed, Elsa is still standing there fine as the cloak she was wearing protected her from the ice attack.

"One should always be prepared," Elsa said as she rushes towards the group.

"I have a feeling she's gonna start fighting seriously now, so I'll keep her attention until you all escape. Teruo will then guide you to safety," Kaoi said as he dashes to meet Elsa.

"Kaoi Wait!" Satella shouts

"Lia, we should listen to him. It's almost five." Puck said as he feels tired from that last attack.

"I agree too," Rom said.

What follows is a series of clashes between Kaoi and Elsa. With one of them trying to create an opening to let the others escape.

Kaoi then puts more power through his blade that he creates a wall of flames blocking off Elsa from the others.

"NOW!" Kaoi shouts

Rom grabs Felt on his shoulders as he ran through the door with Satella and Teruo following suit. Satella momentarily looking back at Kaoi with concern before running off.

"Not so fast," Elsa said as she then threw smaller knives at the escaping group.

"Flame Breathing Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation"

By swinging his blade in a circular motion, Kaoi deflects the projectile blades.

"It seems like I prevented you from murdering a whole group. Not a good look for the Bowel Hunter"

"For once, I'm getting a little angry"

"But now that there out of the way I can go all out," Kaoi said "Even if I don't know how to properly control this new flame power"

"Very well then," Elsa said before the two clashes once more as the day turns into night. Sounds of blades clashing continue as Kaoi fruitlessly attempts to decapitate Elsa.

"Flame Breathing First Form: Unknowing Fire"

Kaoi dashes at Elsa to get behind her, but as he slashes at her neck. Elsa flips to dodge and lands safely on the bar.

"My to keep performing attacks at my neck. Do you perhaps have a fascination with decapitation as I do with disemboweling?" Elsa asks

"In your dreams," Kaoi says.

"This is getting bad," he thought

"The more this battle goes on the more tired I get and she doesn't seem to be slowing down. I have to end this but every time I make a go at her neck she dodges as if she knew it was coming. But that's impossible right?"

Kaoi then remembers what Elsa had said at the start of their fight. About how he was about to kill her without the scent of hesitation. Kaoi figured out how she was able to predict his killing blows by using

"Scent prediction" Kaoi mutters

"Huh?" Elsa hums.

Among the Demon Slayer Corps, there exits a handful of individuals with keen senses, sometimes even bordering on extrasensory perception. Hearing so good you can tell when someone is lying. Touch so sensitive that you feel the vibrations in the earth. Sight so sharp that you can predict an opponent's movements. Finally,

"Smell so accurate you can tell a person's emotion by their scent. You have been using enhanced smell to smell the scent of aggravation that comes off my body every time I go for the killing blow."

"It's similar to how I can detect bloodlust to counter ambush attacks"

"I'm impressed. To not only survived this long against me but also figure out one of my abilities."

"Yes, and that also means I figured out a way to beat you"

"Flame Breathing Eighth Form: Torching Embers"

Kaoi then pressures Elsa with a series of slashes, not letting up and giving her a rest.

"If I can continuously attack aggressively she has no way off knowing when I go in for the kill!"

Just when things got intense, both combatants hear a voice.

"That's enough"

Suddenly the front of the building goes up in dust. Walls crumbling as the entire place shook with power.

Getting away from his opponent, Kaoi gets a good look at the man who interrupted their fight.

Walking through the cloud of dust. Kaoi sees a red-haired man in what seems to be a uniform along with a sword strapped behind his waist.

"Reinhard Van Astrea at your service," he said.

"I just cannot right now with these people," Kaoi thought

"Impressive that you have lasted this long against the bowel hunter, may I ask for your name," Reinhard asks

"Kaoi and I was just about to finish her when you barged in," Kaoi said. A bit upset that his fight was interrupted.

"Apologies Kaoi, but I best believe you leave this fight to me as you seem to be exhausted."

"Yeah, can't argue with that" Kaoi said as he was currently kneeling and using his sword for support.

"It seems like these flames are taking more out of me than I thought. Normally I wouldn't be this tired after fighting for this long."

"Lady Emilia will help you as soon she arrives with the others,"

"Emilia? who the hell is Emilia?" Kaoi thought in frustration.

"Now then, I believe it's best for you to surrender, Bowel Hunter," Reinhard said as he faces Elsa.

"You expect a starving predator like me to resist such juicy prey," Elsa said as she dashes at Reinhard.

"I rather not use violence against a woman," Reinhard said as he effortlessly kicks her away.

"Won't you use your sword against me?" Elsa said as she recovers from the kick.

"The sword doesn't think of you as a worthy opponent."

Reinhard then picks up a sword from the ground to use in the fight. If you can call it that.

"Too bad," Elsa said as she slashes at Reinhard. Only for him to block every strike.

"Damn, If we had a guy like that. The only problem the corps would have is just finding Muzan."

Eventually, the fight ended with Reinhard pouring energy into the sword and obliterating the other half of the building. Kaoi had to use what little strength he had to not be blown away.

"Is it over?" Kaoi asks as the dust began to settle.

"I believe so" Reinhard then looks at the crumbling sword in his hand, "It seems that I have asked too much of you. Rest well,"

"Kaoi!" shouts a familiar voice.

Looking back it was Satella and the others running towards them with Satella having a worried face.

"Ah, Lady Emilia you have arrived just in time," Reinhard says

"Wait, She's Emilia!" Kaoi thought

"Are you okay, Kaoi" Satella now Emilia asks.

"Sure, just a little tired"

"I'm not surprised with how much mana you must've used it's a miracle you're even conscious. Now stay still while I heal you."

Emilia began using magic to heal Kaoi wounds and after a while, Kaoi can start to move again.

"Wow, that's amazing. Thanks for that"

"No problem. It was the least I could do for all the trouble I got you in."

"Now if it's not too much trouble. May I inquire how you met Lady Emilia, Kaoi," asks Reinhard.

"I met her in an alley as she was looking for her insignia. I thought it best to help her out. No reward needed," States Kaoi

"Even so, I am in your debt so if you need any-." Emilia was interrupted by a sudden shake of rubble.

"Kaoi!" Reinhard shouted as to warn him, but he wasn't fast enough, the debris exploded outwards revealing a heavily injured Bowel hunter, sprinting at extremely high speeds.

Kaoi quickly gets in between the Bowel hunter and Emilia to intercept the attack.

"Flame Breathing Third Form: Blazing Universe"

Kaoi counters Elsa's attack with a downward slash, not only blocking the attack but also getting a good hit on her.

"That's enough Elsa" Reinhard was then met by the knife being thrown at him only for it to go around him like a boomerang.

Elsa then backflips on a broken pillar putting pressure where Kaoi slashed at her. "I will disembowel everyone in this room. Until that moment comes, keep your bowels fresh for me." She then jumps onto the roof into the night.

"Are you alright?" Reinhard questioned as he moved fast towards Emilia.

Emilia then scowls as she says "Whether I'm okay or not doesn't matter right now! More importantly..." Emilia said moving past Reinhard towards Kaoi.

"That was reckless! You were out of stamina and had little mana, you could have been killed!"

"Look right now, I'm in no mood for this. Can you let me rest first and then scold me?"Kaoi asked

"Besides you owe me an explanation missy"

Emilia is taken aback as she realizes she does indeed have a lot to explain.

"Nevertheless, I thank you Kaoi for once again you protected Lady Emilia" Reinhard expressing his gratitude towards the Demon slayer. "It was actually your crow that had to lead me to her and thus here"

"Really?" Kaoi inquired as he looks to Emilia for confirmation.

"It's true, I had Teruo search for a knight to help in you against that woman,"

"Well then," Kaoi said as he looks up to see Teruo perch on what remains of the building. "Seems like someone getting a special snack once we get foo-"

Kaoi stops as he heard his uniform tear open along with his flesh.

"AHHHH!" he screams as he holds on to the open wound.

Ignoring the voices shouting in concern, all Kaoi could do was focus his breathing on stopping the bleeding and then he passes out.

Thus, ends Kaoi's first adventure in this strange new world. What challenges await him. What friends can he make along the way? This journey had just begun.

With that, the final chapter is uploaded. I will continue this story just after I get settled moving in College.
