In a snowy forest, a little silver-haired girl with pointy ears is playing with a short silver-haired woman also with pointy ears.
Why…
The woman looks up and she smiles with sharp amethyst eyes.
Why do you seem so familiar? Who are you?…
Slowly the women slowly melts as the amethyst eyes turn into a mellow brown. This is what currently the Sin Archbishop of sloth is as his head falls into the floor. It seemed that after the attack, Kaoi spectacles had fallen off, allowing Betelguese to see his sharp eyes and trudge up a long forgotten memory.
Betelguese: Such scary eyes…
For years his spirit has been traveling this world. Committing multiple atrocities in the name of his icon, the Witch. This was not the first time he had been "killed". Over the years Betelguese had walked in this world, many people fell victim to his possion magic. A great advatage when one is a spirit. However, this time he can feel his own soul being slice in half as his own neck was.
Betelguese: I'm sorry…
He did not know why he said that as he let out out an emotion he had not been in for so long.
Sadness.
Kaoi was caught off guard by this. Standing still as Betelguese's head and body were slowly disetnrigating. His eyes were let lose a volley of tears. The last image in his being this mysterious woman.
Betelguese: I'm sorry for being such a dunderhead…
With that, Betelguese was not of this world anymore. Now dust flying in the wind.
Standing still for a few seconds, Kaoi then moves to the ground where he makes a hole with his bare hands. From the top of the cliff, comes Julius.
Julius: Kaoi, what are you doing.
Kaoi: Making a grave.
Julius: Someone like him doesn't derserve one.
Kaoi: I'm not making a grave for him.
Julius: What?
Kaoi: I'm making a grave for the person he once was.
Julius: He once was? You mean before he was…
Kaoi: Corrupted. Something happened in his past that made him this way. At least that person should have a proper burial. [coughs]
Julius: Are you okay?
Kaoi: Just dealing with recoil damage. It seems like the In No Seishin Kagura may be a little more than I can handle right now.
Julus: The dance of the yin spirit?
Kaoi: I'll explain later.
After making the hole, Kaoi moves to the clothes that were left behind.
Kaoi: You can take whatever he had in his possessions but his clothes will be buried.
Rummaging through the pile of clothes. Kaoi picks up a small black book. He then buriess the clothes and in respect gives a prayer for his soul.
Kaoi: Please to whatever God, exist in this world. Help him. The next time this man is reborn. Please may he live a peaceful life free of demons.
Julius: Kaoi, let's hurry back to the village. Felix contacted me. It seems they have a problem.
Scene Change
While the carriages were resting near the edge of the forrest. Emilia was reflecting her time with Kaoi back in the capital.
Driver: Miss Emilia.
Emilis: Huh?
Driver: It's time to get moving now.
Mild: What's wrong? Are you all right?
Emilia: I'm sorry. It's nothing. Now come on. We need to get going.
She get back in the carriage. Unaware of a glowing bag under the carriage.
Scene Change
[Door Slam Open]
Slamming the door open, Kaoi runs out as Julius, Felix and Otto follow.
Kaoi: Damn it!
As it turns out when they were investigating the cargo of the merchant that was a spy for the Witch Cult. They noticed that a bag of fire crystals was missing. Which when ruptured can act as a bomb to blow up a small village. It was that carriage that is currently carrying Emilia and the children.
Julius: We verified that no spell was used to set a trap, but if something were physically rigged in the carriage, there's be no way of knowing without seeing it.
Kaoi: [Whistle]
Calling upon his steed, Patrache the earth dragon comes up to the group.
Felix: Kaoi, even with that Earth Dragon. It would be pretty difficult to catch up if they make it to the Lifaus Highway. Besides, with your injuries-
Kaoi: I don't care! I can't stand by and leave them to their doom!
Kaoi then jumps on Patrache's saddle.
Kaoi: Teruo! Lead me to the fastest route!
Teruo: Caw! Caw! Very Well!
With that Kaoi, Teruo and Patrache left everybody else in the dust.
(Play Takt of Heroes)
Julius: Godspeed Kaoi.
Scene Change
Running up the road, Kaoi makes his way to the carriages with the guidance of Teruo. Who had flown father to get a sense of the area and to return with the shortest path possible.
Teruo: Go off- road! Cut through the glade on the left!
Kaoi: Got it!
Following Teruo's instructions, Kaoi had Patrache make a shap turn. Going throught the forest until they reached the lake. To which he simply had Patrache jump into in and continue to run. He puts his trust in his animal companions. As they then run down a cliff and then ran across a bridge that falls apart after they had crossed.
Kaoi: Come on, Patrache! I know this is asking lot of you but I need you go faster!
Patrache: [Roars]
Scene Change
Meanwhile the carriages speed up as they are currently underattack by the Witch Cult. A defensive force led by Wilhelm are holding them off as the carriages rush to get away.
The children cower under the arms of Emilia as the ground rumbles from the battle.
Emilia: It's all right, everyone. Just hang on tight. I;m sure ther's nothing to be afraid of,okay?
Puck then contacts Emilia through a telepathic link.
Puck: It would seem that old man just ran into someone behind us. They're fighting.
Emilia: Do you know how many there are?
Puck: Not exactly, but there's a lot. Have no fear. The old man's power is no joke. Looks like you and I won't be needed this time. Taking my physical form without reason drains mana, and I don't want to end up being a plaything for the kids.
Emilia: If your cuteness could help everyone forget their fears, it might be worth it to take that chance, Puck.
Puck: You sure say soem scary things, my daughter.
The carriage hits a rock that causes it to shake and scarying the children.
Emilia: Now don't worry. Whatever happens, I'll protect you. With me around, there's nothing to fear.
Mild: W-We're okay! Seriously!
Dine: You don't have to worry about us. We'll be all right.
Lucas: We made a promise so this is nothing!
Emilia: What are you talking about?
Mild: That no matter what happens we wouldn't let go of you!
Dine: Cause if we're not here beside you, you'll do something reckless.
Lucas: He'll be worried if no one was watching you this whole trip!
Emilia: Who made such a fuss about me? Why are they so concerned?
Petra: Don't! We can't tell her!
Mild: Kaoi!
Lucas: He asked us for a favor! He said that you get lonely so he was worried about you.
Dine: Yeah! He said- Wait. I don't think we were supposed to tell her that.
Petra: Oh, no.
Emilia looks back as a hundred thoughts goes through her head.
Scene Change
Kaoi had just make it to the Lifaus Highway where a battle was taking place. Wilhelm had just slice a cultest in half as he noticed Kaoi.
Kaoi: Wilhelm!
Wilhelm: Kaoi!
Kaoi: Where's Emilia and the children?!
Noticing a cultist about to fire a fireball, Wilhelm move to cut him down and shout to Kaoi
Wilhelm: She's that way! Go straight toward the great tree!
The cultist move to follow Kaoi but are intectepte by the knights.
Wilhelm: This is the perfect chance to repay my debt! I pity anyone who stands in the path of man on a mission!
Following WIlhelm's instructions Kaoi can see the carriages carrying the refugees.
Kaoi: Emilia…
Meanwhile with the silver candidate.
Puck: So are you thinking about Kaoi?
Emilia: Yeah. But it's crazy. I still can't believe it.
Puck: I can. If he's really leading the army, a lot of things would make sense, like why the villagers agreed to evacuate without putting up any resistance.
Emilia: But still… why? After everything I said to him. Why would he…
The carriage rattles as the children hold Emilia tighter.
Puck: Lia, something's coming up behind us.
As all the carriages make an immediate stop. Kaoi jumps on board the carriage.
Emilia: [gasps]
Kaoi looked at Emilia for a brief second before taking out his sword to slice the floorboards apart.
Kaoi: There it is!
Puck: I thought a reunion like this seemed a little sudden for you. So that's why you're here, huh?
Kaoi then takes the bag of fire crystals and goes to exit the carriage.
Emilai: Wait a minute! You shouldn't…
Kaoi jumps of the carriage and Emilia goes to follow. Seeing that Kaoi had already mounted Patrache.
Emilia: Why, Kaoi?
Kaoi: … because it is my duty.

Emilia: Eh?
With those words said, Kaoi snaps the reins of Patrache and makes his way to what remains of Flugel's tree.
As he goes there multiple memories play of events that had led him up to this point.
Getting transported to the marketplace.
Meeting Emilia.
Fighting Elsa the Bowel Hunter.
Living at the mansion.
Discovering magic.
Fighting Rem.
Saving the children front the Wolgram.
Getting proper control of his gate.
Forming a close bond with Ram.
Returning to the capital.
His duel with Julius.
The Subjugation of the White Whale.
Recently, slaying the Archbishop of Sloth.
Finally, he makes it to the open carcass of the White Whale. Kaoi throws the bag inside and makes a run for it.
Soon the bag explodes and Kaoi is knocked off Patrache. Emilia who saw this run towards where the blast had taken place.

Kaoi: [coughs]
Emilia: Kaoi!
Through are covered in smoke. Emilia finds Kaoi and Patrache sitting.
Kaoi: Emilia!
Emilia: Let's get out of her so you can breathe properly.
Kaoi: Yes, let's…
Timeskip
Emilia: She was pretty badly burned, but she's strong. I think she'll be fine
Kaoi: That's great to hear. Patrache has been a great help.
The two then stand in the grass fields of where the explosions took place. Kaoi looking over the recovery process. After the explosion, the remaining cultists backed out and retreated.
Kaoi: Emilia…
Emilia: Yes?
Kaoi: I will have to return to my world someday.
Emilia: I see…
Kaoi: But before then I will make it my duty to help you. So you can grow into someone that can stand proudly among the other candidates with your head held high.
Emilia: What?
Kaoi: Even if a way is available. I'm sure Rengoku-sama and Rozu will forgive me for being late.
Emilia: I just don't understand. Why do you do all of this? Why do you go through all of this pain when I can never do anything for you?
Kaoi: It's simple.
Kaoi turns to Emilia with a soft smile on his face.
Kaoi: It's in my nature to help people when they are in need of it. Like you.
Emilia is brought to tears by these words.
Emilia: Kaoi! I don't know what to say.
Kaoi: How about thank you?
Emilia: [giggles] Thank you, Kaoi.
Kaoi: You're welcome, Emi.
Afterward, Kaoi and Emilia board the carriage and make their way back home.
Arc 3 - End
Like that we finish Season 1 of Re: Slayer! I hope you all enjoyed this journey. I know I have but it's time for me to take a break from writing. I have some things to prep for Season 2. On their way back to the Mather's domain. Kaoi can be seen sleeping in the carriage.
Meanwhile in a room with a giant stone tablet. A spark of light appears on the Dragon Tablet starts to inscribe a sentence on the surface. That sentence reads:
"The Archbishop of Sloth has been slain by Kaoi, the Yin Hashira"
