Episode 13: Monkey Business
The camera focuses on Chris at the end of the Dock of Shame. "Last time on Total Drama Island." The scene cuts to flashbacks of the previous episode. "Mandy decided she needed someone else as a meat shield, and she chose Lincoln to be it. Was this a good idea? Well, we'll see soon enough…probably. As for the challenge, they contestants were tasked with eating as much, or as little, as they wanted. Of course, we didn't tell them that, so they had a fairly random assortment of food to deal with. Team Power Mouse thought they were helping Kevin by mixing their food with his, but in the end just made a mess. That they had to keep eating. And since they couldn't, they lost. Fortunately for them, Mikey volunteered as the elimination, so he left the island." The scene cuts back to Chris on the Dock of Shame. "Whose turn is it to take a long walk off this short pier, cutting the contestant number down to half? Find out right now, on Total. Drama. Island."
Intro song plays.
Lincoln was sitting outside, working on something, when Mandy came up. "What's this?" she asked.
"I'm working out who has an immunity idol," said Lincoln. "So we know how to deal with people once the teams merge."
"Fair enough," said Mandy. "What have you got?"
"So, you got the first four, using one in the process, leaving you with three," said Lincoln. "Then I got the next one…"
"Which you destroyed," said Mandy.
"Technically that was Danny," said Lincoln. "Anyway, I haven't got to that part yet. So, Eliza got the next one, but immediately used it, so we don't have to worry about that one. The next one went to Jenny…"
"And that's when you got your statue destroyed," said Mandy.
"Yes, that's when mine got destroyed," said Lincoln, slightly annoyed. "Anyway, Luz got the next one. Then Danny got one. During that time you used another two of yours. But then you gained one back. So after all that, we know you have two, and Jenny, Danny, and Luz all have one each. Therefore, those three are the threats."
"Wait a minute," said Mandy. "What about the eating challenge we just had? Who got that Idol?"
"You know what? I have no idea," said Lincoln. "No-one spoke up, so either no-one found it, or they're keeping it secret. Unless you want to admit to finding it?"
"I didn't find it," said Mandy. "Not that I'd admit it if I did."
"Exactly," said Lincoln. "So we know the definite ones, and there's one unknown factor that may or may not be a problem."
Confession Cam: Lincoln
Lincoln tosses an Immunity Idol into the air and catches it. "Unknown to Mandy, at least. Thank God I found another one of these."
Confession Cam: Mandy
"Finally, a minion I can make use of. Buttercup's good for muscle power, I guess, but she's also in favour of doing good, so she won't always be on my side. Lincoln seems to be more morally grey, and that I can get behind."
As Mandy and Lincoln were discussing tactics, they didn't realise they were being watched from the bushes. "Oh, *beep," said Dipper. "That can't be good. I've gotta tell…" As Dipper was about to leave, he ran into someone.
"Going somewhere?" asked Buttercup.
"Buttercup, hi," said Dipper. "Listen, it looks like Mandy's trying to recruit Lincoln, or possibly she already has. We need to tell…"
"I already know," said Buttercup.
"Oh…great…" said Dipper, slowly backing away, starting to get a bad feeling about the situation. "So, I'll just…"
"Not tell another person?" asked Buttercup. "Sounds like a good idea."
"What? No," said Dipper. "I'm going to…" Before he could finish that sentence, Buttercup picked him up by the front of his shirt.
"No, you're not," said Buttercup. "I think Mandy might actually be able to get me to the finale. And given that neither she nor Lincoln have superpowers, I think that gives me the edge in winning this thing."
"Buttercup, think about this," said Dipper. "Mandy could just be using you for her own personal gain. Look at what happened to Jessica."
"Jessica was a small child," said Buttercup. "Do I look like a small child to you?"
"…do you actually want me to answer that, or…" started Dipper, before Buttercup slammed him into a tree.
"Here's the deal," said Buttercup. "You don't speak of this, and I let you keep your bones intact. Got it?"
"I…" started Dipper, sounding defiant before Buttercup pushed him even further into the tree.
"Got. It?" asked Buttercup, clearly annoyed.
"…got it," said Dipper, with a sigh of defeat. Upon hearing his answer, Buttercup dropped him.
"Good," said Buttercup. "I'm glad we have an understanding." Buttercup flew off afterwards, leaving Dipper to rub his neck.
"Campers, you know what time it is," said Chris over the loudspeaker. "That's right, it's challenge time. But don't worry about meeting up, just stay where you are, and the challenge will come to you."
"Well, that's ominous," said Kevin.
"When is it not with Chris?" asked Kim, as something furry ran past her. "What the…"
"Some of you may have noticed the challenge already," said Chris over the loudspeaker. "And for those of you who haven't…there are monkeys on the island now."
"So we've noticed," said Luz, as she and Korra watching a monkey swing from the light fixture in her cabin.
"Each of the monkeys has one of your names shaved into its fur," said Chris. "And no, I didn't look up if this was animal cruelty or not. Anyway, find your monkey, and bring it back to the cage outside the Mess Hall. First camper to bring me their monkey gets an Immunity Idol, the team with the last monkey on the loose loses. Good luck."
"Alright, where do we get bananas on this island?" asked Steven.
"Probably the kitchen," said Ben, pointing to the Mess Hall. "Come on, let's check it out." Ben led the way into the building, then headed towards the kitchen, before being blocked by Chef.
"Looking for something?" asked Chef with a cocky tone.
"Just some bananas to lure the monkeys to us," said Steven.
"And you think I'll just give them to you?" asked Chef.
"…I assume the answer is no?" asked Ben.
"Well, you ain't as dumb as I thought you were," said Chef. "So, off you go."
"Steven, do you feel like fighting Chef for access to the kitchen?" asked Ben.
"I'd prefer not to fight if I don't have to," said Steven.
"Suit yourself," said Ben, going through his Omnitrix. "I think Four-Arms will be more than enough for this one." As Ben was about to hit the button, however, Chef shoved him to the floor. "Hey, what gives?"
"You were literally standing a foot in front of me when you announced your plan to fight me as one of your aliens," said Chef. "Did you really think I wouldn't try to fight back?"
"…I mean, I hoped," said Ben, getting back up. "But now I'll just…" As Ben was about to hit the button for Four-Arms, Chef quickly spun the wheel on the Omnitrix, changing what it was right as Ben hit the button. "What have you…" Ben immediately started glowing and changing, which included getting smaller and smaller, until…
"Well, I think I can handle," said Chef, picking Grey Matter up with ease.
"HEY! Let me go," said Grey Matter, struggling against the much bigger Chef. "Steven, any time you want to step in would be good."
Steven sighed in defeat. "Fine," he said, summoning his shield. "Sorry about this Chef, but…" Steven threw his shield at Chef…
…only for Chef to catch it with ease. "You know, if you're going to attack someone, probably better to do it in a way that they don't know what you're about to do," said Chef.
"Good to know," said Steven, as Chef grabbed him by the back of the shirt.
"AND STAY OUT!" yelled Chef, as he threw the two of them out the door.
"Welp, that didn't work," said Grey Matter, as he turned back into Ben. "Any other ideas?"
"Just one," said Steven. "But…uh…it's a bit awkward."
"…how awkward?" asked Ben.
Meanwhile…
"How hard can it be to catch a monkey?" asked Luz.
"Yeah, there's like five of them here," said Korra. "All we have to do is catch them, and…" A blast of cold wind flew past her, and suddenly Korra noticed the monkey were encased on a block of ice.
"Caught them," said Luz. "Now we just have to take them back to Chris, and…"
"Wait, do any of them have our name on them?" asked Korra.
"…I suppose I should have checked that before I froze them," said Luz. "Well, they're not going anywhere, let's check them." The two girls started looking at the monkeys from every angle, trying to see the names shaved into them.
"Let's see…this one's Dexter's," said Korra. "And this one's Buttercup's."
"I found Jenny's," said Luz. "Should we keep this one for her?"
"No need," said a voice from behind her. Luz spun around, and saw Jenny landing easily on the ground. "I'll be taking this." One of Jenny's hands withdrew into her arm, and a buzzsaw came out, starting to cut into the ice.
"Hey Korra, honest opinion: is Jenny someone you're okay with winning an immunity idol?" asked Luz.
"Yeah, she's fine," said Korra.
"This will actually be my second," said Jenny, nearly halfway through cutting her monkey free.
"Does that change things for you?" asked Luz. "I mean, we must be close to the teams merging, and she's going to be hard enough to get rid of as it is."
"Okay, we'll try and stop her," said Korra. "But not too hard, since I still haven't got a problem with her."
"Oh, you want fight me?" asked Jenny, nearly finished cutting her monkey free. "Well, I suppose I can spare a few minutes. Most of the others are probably going to struggle to catch their monkeys anyway."
"Hey, I caught my monkey," said Danny, casually flying past them on his way back to the Mess Hall.
"…I stand corrected, I need to fight back hard," said Jenny, as Luz and Korra charged her. "Or…" Jenny kicked the ice as hard as she could, shattering it enough to separate her monkey from the ice, as well as leave the other monkeys in their own ice blocks. "Gotta go." Jenny grabbed her monkey, and flew over the two girls on her way to try and beat Danny.
"Quick, who do the other monkeys belong to?" asked Luz.
"Lincoln's here," said Korra, checking one. "And…Mandy's."
"Great, I'll take that," said a voice behind them. The two girls spun around, and saw Mandy standing there, scythe in hand.
"And if we don't?" asked Korra.
"I'm pointing a scythe at you with phenomenal cosmic power," said Mandy. "You figure it out."
"Oh…" said Luz. "Well, in that case, here you…whoops." As Luz was about to push the block of ice with the monkey towards Mandy, she 'accidentally' pushed the ice towards a nearby river, letting it get carried away by the current. "Clumsy me."
"Uh, Luz?" said Korra. "That was Lincoln's."
"Oops, my bad," said Luz, grabbing Mandy's monkey instead pushing it towards the river. "Oops, clumsy…"
"Yeah, yeah, I get it," said Mandy, waving the scythe at her. "You're lucky I'm in the middle of a challenge, or I'd use this on you. In the meantime, Buttercup?"
"Yeah, yeah, I know," said Buttercup, picking up her monkey. "I'll go drop my monkey off, then…"
"No," said Mandy. "Get mine."
"Yeah, yeah, as soon as I…" started Buttercup.
"I said now," said Mandy, in a voice that demanded on arguments.
"Ladies, ladies, please don't fight," said Lincoln. "Allow me to get me and Mandy's monkeys. Buttercup, you take yours to the cage."
"Lincoln, why are you helping Mandy?" asked Korra, suspicious.
"Hey, can't a guy help out a friend?" asked Lincoln, diving into the water. "Now, I'm off to save those monkeys."
"What does he mean, friend?" demanded Korra.
"Probably just delusional," said Mandy, not even flinching at Korra's anger.
"I don't think so," said Korra, a fireball appearing on her hand. "What did…"
"Korra, we have other things to worry about right now," said Luz, grabbing her friend's arm. "Like, say, the challenge?"
Korra glared at Mandy, then began following her friend away. "This isn't over," she called back to Mandy.
"Should I stop them?" asked Buttercup.
"No point," said Mandy. "Go and finish, then help Lincoln. I'm guessing he'll be drowning by now."
"Yeah, probably," said Buttercup, flying away.
Meanwhile…
"There," said Kevin, pointing into a tree. "It's my one."
"Okay, I'm going to try and scare it down, you try and grab it," said Kim, starting to climb into the tree.
"Gotcha," said Kevin, watching her approach the monkey.
Kim crept along the branches, seemingly without the monkey noticing. "Just a little further," she said, nearly reaching the monkey, when it suddenly moved a bit further down the branch. "Okay, inconvenient," she said to herself, while continuing to move down the branch. Suddenly, there was a loud snap, causing Kim and the monkey to look around, as the branch broke off the tree. The monkey tried to scramble away, but Kim grabbed it as they fell. "Kevin, quick."
"I got it Kim," said Kevin, running to where the two were going to land. Unfortunately, he was so focused on Kim that he didn't notice the tree root on the ground, causing him to trip over. "Yep, should have predicted that would happen," he said, as he hit the ground. Before he could get back up, Kim and the monkey landed on top of him. Kim lost her grip on the monkey, which began to run away, passing a nearby familiar figure.
"Dipper, quick, grab that monkey. It's Kevin's," called Kim.
"Huh? What?" said Dipper, suddenly snapped out of the stupor he was in. Because he'd been so distracted by what had happened earlier, the monkey easily jumped onto his head and leapt away into another tree. "Oops, sorry guys."
"Dipper, what's wrong?" asked Kevin, walking up to him. "You seem a bit off."
"Sorry, it's just…" started Dipper, before looking around. "Can I tell you guys something?"
"Of course," said Kim. "What's up Dip?"
"Well…" started Dipper. "I…"
"Hey, you better not be telling them what I think you're telling them," said Buttercup, who'd just gotten back from turning in her monkey. "You know what'll happen if you do."
"Oh, now he has to tell us," said Kim.
"You think I'm scared of just you?" asked Buttercup. "Bring it on." Kim ran at Buttercup, while Buttercup flew at Kim. The two collided and began wrestling nearby, while Kevin and Dipper watched on.
"Well then…" said Kevin. "While Kim deals with that, how about you tell me what's going on?"
"Are you sure? Buttercup might get violent towards you and Kim if I spill her team's secret alliance," said Dipper.
"I think Kim's getting pretty violent enough as it is," said Kevin, watching the fight. "So, what's up?"
"Well…" started Dipper, and began telling Kevin about what he'd seen that morning.
"Yeah, I figured something like this might happen," said Kevin, once Dipper had finished talking.
"You did?" asked Dipper.
"I mean, have you seen how Korra and Lincoln bicker?" asked Kevin. "Lincoln was bound to turn against her eventually. I'm just disappointed that he turned to Mandy instead of someone…you know, not evil."
"Okay, well, how do we handle it?" asked Dipper.
"First thing's first, we get out of here," said Kevin. "Hey Kim, we gotta move."
"Okay, here you go," said Buttercup, throwing Kim at them.
"WHOA!" yelled Dipper, as Kim landed on top of the two of them and sent them rolling down a nearby hill.
Meanwhile…
Chef was whistling to himself in the kitchen, ignorant of the two boys watching him nearby. "Are you sure about this?" asked Ben. "It just seems…weird."
"You get used to it," said Steven with a shrug. "But if you don't want to do it…"
"No, no, just…" started Ben, before sighing. "Doesn't matter, let's just do this."
"Okay," said Steven, coming out of his hiding spot with Ben. "Hey Chef."
Chef casually turned around and look at the boys. "Didn't I kick you out?" asked Chef. "Do you want me to do it again?"
"You ain't doing it again," said Steven. "Not once we do…this." And without another word, Steven and Ben began dancing.
"You're going to beat me by…dancing?" asked Chef. "Really? Well, you guys have lost it." Chef strolled out of the kitchen and made his way towards the two of them. However, just as he was about to grab Ben by the collar, Ben ducked out of the way, and grabbed Steven's hand, causing the two of them to start glowing. "What the…"
The glowing stopped, and standing in front of Chef was a tall, dark-haired man, wearing pink and green clothes, the Omnitrix on his wrist, and pink gem clearly visible where his belly button should be. "Hey, what's up?" he said. "Sten is in the house."
"Did…did you two just become one person?" asked Chef, eyes wide and stunned at what he was seeing.
"Darn right," said Sten. "And now, we need those bananas, so…" Sten summoned a shield as Chef charged at him, while casually looking through the Omnitrix. "This will do," he said, hitting the button. Sten began glowing again, and this time reappeared as Four-Arms, but significantly pinker than normal.
"Okay, this is getting weird," said Chef, trying to dodge around Sten's shield, only for Sten to pick him up by the collar.
"What was it you said to us earlier?" asked Sten. "Oh yeah." Sten pulled his arm back, and threw Chef as hard as he could. "AND STAY OUT!" Chef flew out the door, and clear into the water just past the Dock of Shame. "Now that that's done…"
"Thanks for the distraction, guys," said Dexter, walking out of the kitchen with a bunch of bananas. "This should make catching my monkey so much easier."
"But we…" started Steven.
"Hey, is there any more in there?" asked Luz, running past Sten.
"There's a couple," said Dexter, walking away. "For now, I must be off."
"Excellent," said Korra, grabbing a bunch for herself. "Come on Luz, we have some monkeys to catch."
"Right behind you," said Luz, running after Korra with some bananas. "Thanks for the assist, whoever you are."
Sten ran into the kitchen, only to find the section where the bananas should be empty. "Goddamn it," said Sten, slamming his fist into the counter so hard he unfused.
"I suppose we should have beaten up Chef normally in the first place, huh?" said Steven.
Ben sighed and shook his head. "Let's just go find our monkeys," he said, exiting the kitchen, Steven close behind him.
Meanwhile…
"I found him," said Buttercup, depositing a half-drowned Lincoln on the ground next to Mandy, who had managed to catch their two monkeys.
"I was fine as is," said Lincoln, handing Mandy her monkey as he coughed up a lot of river water.
"Is that why you were halfway out to Boney Island?" asked Buttercup.
"I had it under control," said Lincoln.
"He didn't," said Buttercup.
"Enough," said Mandy. "Has anyone else finished?"
"Yeah, Danny just managed to beat Jenny to the finish line," said Buttercup. "I think I'm the only other one to be done."
"Okay, Danny's got two statues now," said Lincoln. "That's not helpful."
"We'll just have to make him a main target when the teams merge," said Mandy. "In the meantime, get on his good side, learn everything about him, especially any weaknesses. All the info we can get will be helpful."
"Yes ma'am," said Lincoln, saluting.
"What about me?" asked Buttercup.
"What about you?" asked Mandy, walking past her on the way to the finish line.
Confession Cam: Buttercup
"I get the feeling Mandy's starting to like Lincoln more than me. But that can't be true, can it? Can it?"
Meanwhile…
"Dexter's just returned with his monkey, meaning six of you have finished," said Chris over the loudspeakers. "Pick up the pace people, some of us have massage appointments booked this afternoon."
"Off to see Madame Palms again, eh?" asked Chef.
"HEY! I'll have you know Rosie is a very classy la…oh *beep* is this thing still on?" asked Chris, as the loudspeaker shut off.
"That's something I didn't need to hear," said Kim.
"Why? People get massages all the time," said Dipper. "Or is this one of those things I'm too young to understand?"
"The latter," said Kevin. "And after breaking Mikey's brain by explaining how lesbians work, I'm not sure I want to try and explain something adult to a child again."
"I'm sure that Dipper can…" started Kim, as a monkey darted past her. "Hold that thought." Kim pulled out her grappling hook and fired it at the monkey, managing to wrap it up. "Gotcha." Kim ran over to it, and checked the name on its back. "Dipper, it's yours."
"Mine?" asked Dipper. "Well, is there a way to keep it wrapped up so I can help you find yours?"
"Actually Dipper, just take it," said Kim. "Me and Kevin should be okay by ourselves."
"Are you sure?" asked Dipper. "I could be helpful…"
"Dip," said Kevin. "You know how we were talking about adult things you don't understand yet?"
"Yeah?" said Dipper, before realising what Kevin was getting at. "Oh…gross. Okay, I'm out of here."
"Did you have to tell it to him like that?" asked Kim.
"No, but I'm pretty sure our team hasn't got a monkey on the board yet," said Kevin. "Plus, now we're alone to…"
"KEVIN! We're not doing that here," said Kim, pushing him away, disgusted.
"I was gonna say talk about…us…" said Kevin, indicating between the two of them. "Since we haven't really talked about it, and I know you have a boyfriend back home and all that."
"I know, we need to talk about it," said Kim with a sigh. "But we're also in the middle of a challenge, and I'm not sure this is the best time…"
"Hey, we can keep looking while we talk," said Kevin. "And if we find a monkey, we'll focus on that. Deal?"
"Deal," said Kim, leading the way through the woods. "So, how do you think we should go about this?"
"Hey, I'm the one that's available," said Kevin. "Unless Hiromi's reconsidered things while I've been gone. You're the one with the boyfriend. What do you want to do about this?"
"I…look, Kevin," said Kim, clearly not liking what she was going to say. "You're a great guy, I like you, but I've known Ron for…pretty much my whole life. I can't break his heart like this. I'm just hoping he hasn't seen that episode of the show yet so I can explain. I'm sorry."
"Yeah…yeah, I kinda figured this was coming," said Kevin with a sigh. "But hey, we can stay friends, right?"
"Oh, of course," said Kim. "It won't be weird at all, even if we did kiss, right?"
"Right, yeah, totally," said Kevin, as an awkward pause came between the two. "It's weird, isn't it?"
"Totally weird," said Kim, as a monkey darted past them.
"Oh thank God, a distraction," said Kevin with relief. "Come on Kim."
"Right behind you," said Kim, chasing the monkey down. Kim jumped, and managed to drag the creature to the ground. "Quick, check its name."
"It's…it's…" started Kevin, finally managing to look at the struggling animal's back. "Steven's. Dang it."
"Well then, I'll take that," said Steven, who'd just arrived with Ben.
"Why is it that someone always seems to turn up at exactly the right moment every time something happens?" asked Kevin.
"It is weirdly convenient, isn't it?" asked Steven. "Anyway, give me my monkey, or me and Ben will…do something."
"Mostly just beat you up," said Ben. "The question is: who am I going to pick for it? I just have so many choices for this."
"Kevin, take the monkey and run," said Kim, handing him the monkey.
"Are you sure you can handle both of them at once?" asked Kevin.
"No, but I should be able to distract them long enough for you to get away from here," said Kim. "Then just release the monkey. Make it harder for them to find it."
"Oh, well if that's how you're gonna play," said Ben, going through his alien choices. "I guess I'll take Wildmutt for a spin, great for tracking things." Ben slapped his hand down on the Omnitrix, and began glowing white.
"Hurry Kevin," said Kim, taking a fighting stance.
"Right, good luck," said Kevin, turning to run away. However, Kevin took about three steps before running straight into a pink wall. "OW! What the…"
"You know, the great thing about there being two of us is: one of us can go after each of you," said Steven, standing on the other side of the shield. "So, about my monkey…"
"Well, you're only blocking this one way, so…" started Kevin, turning to his left. Suddenly, the shield blocked his path. "And I suppose if I…" Kevin turned 180 degrees, and saw another pink wall. "Yep, figured as much."
"And again, about my monkey…" started Steven, as a rock came from the trees and hit him in the head. "OW! What the…"
"And there's plenty more where that came from," said Dipper, holding another rock. "Kevin, run."
"Okay, got it," said Kevin, starting to move. "I'll just…" Before he could even take two steps, Kevin came face-to-face with Wildmutt, who had Kim pinned to the ground. "On second thought, would you guys like a monkey?"
"Good to see you've come to your senses," said Steven, taking the monkey.
"Honestly, just kinda hoping Luz just so happens to be coming past and help us out," said Kevin.
"Sorry Kevin, having enough trouble controlling the monkey I've got as is," said Luz, running past on her way to the finish line.
"Well, great," said Kevin, as Steven left to turn his monkey in. "So I guess that leaves me, Kim, Ben, and Korra?" As he was speaking, a couple of bunches of bananas dropped from the sky. "What the…"
"Me and Luz don't need these anymore," said Korra, floating above him on a ball of wind, a frozen monkey in her hands. "Share these amongst yourselves, losers."
"Gee, thanks Korra," said Kevin sarcastically, before noticing Wildmutt trying to grab both bunches of bananas. "HEY!"
"I've got this," said Kim, firing her grappling hook at one of the bunches, snatching it from Wildmutt's mouth. Wildmutt growled at her, but left with the other bunch. "Come on Kevin. Ben's probably more likely to scare the monkey's off in that form. If we work fast, we win."
"Right. Let's go," said Kevin. "Uh…you don't happen to know where to even start looking, do you?"
"Ooh, looks like Ben's picked up the scent of a loose monkey," said Chris over the loudspeaker. "Some of you might want to pick up the pace. Like, now."
"Come on," said Kevin. "If he's found the wrong monkey, then one of us can grab ours."
"And if he found his own?" asked Kim.
"Then we keep it away from him," said Kevin. "Whatever it takes at this point." The two started running to where they saw Ben disappear, hoping to catch up.
"So, can we help them, or…" started Luz, returning from the finish line.
"I mean, Chris didn't object when I hit Steven with a rock," said Dipper. "Come on, let's see what we can do." Dipper and Luz started chasing after the two of them.
"Well, if they're going to help their teammates, we should too," said Steven, waving to the rest of his team who'd come to watch the end of the challenge. "Come on guys."
"Yeah, you do that," said Mandy, sitting back. "And you'd better succeed. I'd rather not lose another one of my Immunity Idols."
"You could help," said Steven.
"I could," said Mandy. "Or, I could relax, knowing your goody two-shoes nature won't let you leave your best friend to fight off an entire team by himself."
Steven glared at her, before turning away. "Damn my goodie two-shoes nature," he said under his breath, seeming to glow pink for a moment before leaving.
"Um…did you see that?" asked Buttercup.
"It's probably nothing," said Mandy, relaxing. "And if it is something, it's probably not our problem."
"Let's hope so," said Buttercup.
Meanwhile…
"Look, there's the monkey," said Kevin, pointing into a tree.
"And there's Ben underneath it," said Kim, pointing out Wildmutt circling the base of the tree.
"Okay, we need someone to get into that tree, see whose monkey that is, and then…we figure out the next step," said Kevin.
"Right," said Kim, immediately leaping into a tree, and swinging her way across to the monkey.
"And…I'm the distraction," said Kevin. "Great…" Kevin sighed in defeat, before picking up some rocks and started throwing them at the alien. "HEY! Look over here!"
Wildmutt looked over at Kevin for a moment, and seemed to be about to turn its attention back to the tree when it did a double take and charged at Kevin.
"Uh…okay, this wasn't part of the plan…" said Kevin, stumbling back a couple of steps before turning and running. "Don't eat me, don't eat me, DON'T EAT ME!" Kevin heard Wildmutt get close to him as he ducked. Wildmutt leapt over his head…and kept running. "What the…"
"Kevin, this is my monkey," said Kim. "Wait, where's Ben?"
"He's…" started Kevin, before seeing why Wildmutt hadn't attacked him. "*beep, he's found another monkey."
"Hold on, I'll help you," said Kim, getting down from the tree.
"No, go finish, I'll…figure something out," said Kevin, chasing Wildmutt, who'd chased the new monkey into another tree and was desperately trying to get up himself.
"But…" started Kim.
"Kim, finish. Make this a 1v1 for us," said Kevin.
"Yeah, we're here to help," said Dipper, arriving at the scene with Luz.
"Oh, well then you're probably fine," said Kim.
"And I'm here to stop you," said Steven, also arriving.
"Well in that case…" started Kim.
"Finish line. Now," said Luz, shoving her in that direction.
"Alright, alright, sheesh," said Kim, leaving to finish the challenge.
"Okay Kevin, this is a safety hover glyph," said Luz, handing him a piece of paper. "Use it if you fall."
"Okay, cool," said Kevin. "And how do I get up there without getting mauled?"
"That's an excellent question," said Luz, without following that up with anything.
"Maybe that thing has a weakness?" suggested Dipper.
"Possibly. Do you want to go over there and find out wat it is?" asked Kevin.
"Hmm…pass," said Dipper.
"Well, I guess I'm going in then," said Kevin. "Luz, invisibility glyph if you would." Luz handed him another piece of paper, and Kevin held his breath as he started making his way forward…only to run face first into a pink wall. "Damn it Steven," said Kevin.
"Hey, we're on different teams, I'm supposed to try and stop you," said Steven.
"You want us to handle him?" asked Luz, handing Kevin another invisibility glyph.
"That would be great, thanks," said Kevin.
"Look, not to burst your bubble, but…how exactly are we going to do that?" asked Dipper, pointing out that they were surrounded by Steven's shield.
"Okay Steven, what's the weakness to this thing?" asked Kevin, trying to push his way out. "You're not mean enough to let us lose this way."
"Well, as long as I don't release it, it stays up," said Steven. "Sorry, but Mandy will probably get rid of someone else if we lose."
"Not our problem," said someone behind him. Steven looked behind him to see Kim throwing a rock at him. Steven ducked, only to realise at the last second this distraction was enough to make him release the shield.
"Oh no…" he said, putting another one back up, only to notice Kevin wasn't inside. "Hey, where'd he go?"
"Well, either he's in here with us, in which case he doesn't need to keep holding his breath because he can't get out anyway," said Luz. "Or he's heading towards Ben right now with my invisibility glyph. The question is: do you feel lucky, punk?"
"That last part was a bit excessive," said Steven.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that," said Luz. "But the question still stands."
"I…don't feel lucky," said Steven, lowering the shield to try and find Kevin at the tree Wildmutt was still trying to climb.
At that moment, Kevin exhaled next to Luz. "Thanks for that," he said. "Now, let's get that m…"
"You got it, Ben," said Steven, as Wildmutt leapt down from the tree with the scruff of the monkey's neck between his teeth. "And it's your one, too. Quick, to the finish line."
Wildmutt took one leaping bound towards the finish line, when a beeping sound came from his chest. There was a flash of light, then suddenly Ben was standing before them, the monkey still in his mouth. "ERGH!" he said, grabbing the monkey in one hand, and trying to scrape monkey fur out of his mouth with the other, before realising the position he was in. "Uh oh…"
"Well, that certainly evens things out," said Luz, cracking her knuckles and grinning wickedly. "It's time for us to…"
"No," said Kevin, pushing past Luz. "Ben, your watch thing doesn't let you change again for a little while, right?"
"Yeah, so?" asked Ben.
"So, how about we do this one-on-one, human-to human?" asked Kevin. "I try and stop you, you try and escape, and if I lose, I lose." Kevin extended his hand to Ben for him to shake.
"Hmm…" pondered Ben. "Well, I tend to be able to trust people named Kevin, so why not?" Ben grabbed Kevin's hand and shook it in agreement.
"Gonna be honest, was hoping you'd use the hand you had the monkey in," said Kevin, letting go of Ben's hand.
"I figured as much," said Ben, still holding his monkey. "Okay, let's do this." Ben took off at a sprint, Kevin in hot pursuit.
"He's gonna lose this, isn't he?" asked Dipper.
"Yep," said Kim. "We don't even know where Kevin's monkey is."
"Wait, you didn't know?" asked Steven.
"Know what?" asked Luz.
Meanwhile, at the finish line…
"You mean after my monkey escaped, it went to sleep on top of the cage, and has been here THIS WHOLE TIME?!" asked Kevin, as Ben threw his monkey into the cage and slammed the door.
"Well, yeah," said Chris. "And before you ask why I didn't tell you, it's because I thought it would be hilarious if this was how you found out. Which it is." In response, Chris burst out laughing, most of it directly in Kevin's face. "Anyway, I'll be seeing your team at elimination tonight." Chris walked away from the finish line, still laughing to himself.
"Sorry guys, I never should have challenged Ben like that, not knowing that I could have won the challenge so easily," said Kevin. "I wouldn't blame you guys if you got rid of me."
"What? No, Kevin, don't say that," said Luz. "We would never want to get rid of you. Or any of you guys."
"Problem is, we do have to get rid of someone," said Kim. "And I have no idea who to vote for."
"I might have a possible solution to this," said Dipper, who started to explain what was on his mind.
Later, at the Elimination Ceremony…
"Okay Power Mouse, I see you're back again," said Chris. "You've also invited the contestants from the other two teams for some reason."
"Yeah, they said they had a surprise for us," said Jenny. "We have no idea what that is though."
"Well, it'll have to wait until after one of them gets booted," said Chris. "Anyway, given that you've lost so many members, you know how this works. Three marshmallows. Four of you. One of you is going home. They'll be walking down the Dock of Shame, boarding the Boat of Losers, and never coming back. Ever. The following contestants are safe." As he read the names, Chris threw them a marshmallow. "Luz. And Kim." The camera focused on Dipper and Kevin. "Okay you two, there's one marshmallow left. One of you is going home, and one of you is getting the final marshmallow. The final marshmallow today is going to…" The camera rapidly cut between Kevin and Dipper, both looking as neutral as possible. "Kevin." Chris throws the marshmallow, which Kevin easily catches. "Well Dipper, looks like you're out."
"If I may say a few words before I go," said Dipper as he stood up.
"You have until Chef throws you onto the boat," said Chris.
"Well, that should be more than enough time for me to say this," said Dipper. "Lincoln's working with Mandy."
"WHAT?!" yelled Danny, who turned to glare at Lincoln. Lincoln could only laugh nervously in the face of his now hostile teammates.
"Remember what I told you about your bones, Dip?" asked Buttercup, floating towards him menacingly.
"And this is why I asked my team to vote me out," said Dipper, holding up his hands in a way that got them pixelated as he jumped onto the boat. "Drive Chef, before she actually does break my bones."
"You know she can fly faster than the boat, right?" asked Chef.
"Just do it," said Dipper, as Buttercup loomed closer.
"Alright," said Chef with a shrug, getting the boat to full throttle.
"And now, we're down to half our original contestants," said Chris, as a loud snapping sound was heard, followed by Dipper's agonising scream. "What twists and turns await the remaining twelve contestants? You'll just have to wait and see, next time, on Total. Drama. Island."
