Two Steps Back . . .

(Sonic's POV)
The last thing I remember was floating through a white void. I saw images of merunning through Green Hill, Tails, Sally, Antoine, & Rotor, & then me in my Super Form writing "Hi Sal" on a window with an exploding Eggman robot behind next thing I knew, I was standing in front of Silver Sonic. And that's when it all came back to me*
Sonic: Abby! Sally! Right! Ten second rewind! *I hit Silver Jerk with a spin dash to the face* No cheap shot for you!
Then I ran towards the girls as they were about to run into the hallway*
(Abigail's POV)
Sally:Sonic! We're out of time! We've got toooo - OOP!
Just before Sally & I could enter the hallway, Sonic zoomed over tous & scooped us both up. Me in his right arm & Sally in his left*
Sonic: Way ahead of you, girls!
Suddenly,a barrel gun came out of the ceiling & pointed at us*
Abigail: Sonic! There's a - !
Sonic: Like I just said . . . *He dodged the blast from the gun & it hit Silver Sonic, who was right behind us* Way ahead of you, girls.*Sally saw something & looked confused* What's the matter? Too much awesome condensed into one moment?
Sally: . . . No, it's . . . It's not that . . . It's nothing. Let's keep moving.
I looked where she was looking & saw the words "Hi Sal" on a computer screen*
Later, Sally had Nicole plugged into a computer*
Sally: Okay, it looks like most of the Death Egg power is being directed to that deck below. Any idea what it is, Nicole?
Nicole:I'm afraid the Doctor's system is very secure. It was very difficult to just get that much information. I would need more time.
Sally unplugged Nicole & put her handheld computer on her belt*

Sally: Which we don't have, unfortunately. We'll just have to go down and see what's taking so much power.
We were just about to enter another elevator, but Sonic zoomed ahead of us*
Sonic: Hold it! Hidden cannon inspection!
Abigail: . . . Hidden cannon . . .
Both me & Sally looked nervous*
Sonic: Yeah, like the one in the hallway . . . Why?
Sally: Just premission jitters. We're fine.
Sonic: If you say so . . .*we went went down that elevator & ended up in a room with ahologram of the world in a tube* YOWZA!
Sally: That looks like a giant Roboticizer!
Eggman came out of a hole in the ceiling, riding in his Eggmobile*
Dr. Eggman: A World Roboticizer, to be precise.
Sonic suddenly burst out laughing*
Sonic: And here I thought we had something to worry about! You remember those aliens that snagged us a while back? When they deroboticized everyone, they made sure itwas for keeps!
Dr. Eggman: Yes, yes. Those bothersome Bem. They re-wrote the rules of the game. But I changed them back. Surely you noticed the flash of light? The momentary disorientation? That was just phase one!
Sally: You're bluffing.
Sonic: Everything didreset . . . Right . . .?
I looked at Sonic, confused*
Abigail*in her mind*Reset?
Eggman then snapped his fingers & a image of Station Square appeared on a screen behind him. In the bottom corner was the word "Simulation"*
Dr. Eggman: I heard , do you recall, dear Princess, what happens when you try to roboticize something that's already mechanical?
Sonic: What's he talking about?
Sally: When I tricked him into roboticizing my auto automaton double. *her eyes suddenly went wide* Oh, no . . .
Dr. Eggman: That's right! It explodes! All of G.U.N's forces! All of the United Federation blown back to the stone age!*suddenly, the buildings in the Station Square in the simulation exploded as he laughed his maniacallaugh. New Mobotropolis then appeared on the screen* And let's not forget New Mobotropolis! There goes your precious computerized city!
He laughed again & we all gasped in horror*
Sonic: . . . Dad . . .
Sally: Bunnie . . . And Nicole . . .!
Abigail: Omega . . . Shadow . . .!
I knew Shadowwasn't mechanical, but he could get killed in the blast*
Sonic: Okay, I take back the laughing . . .
Sally: Wait! You'll destroy every chapter of your Dark Egg Legion!
Dr. Eggman: What's your point? I'll have millions of robot slaves to rebuild my robot army. Besides, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few Dark Egg Legionars.
I started to shake with terror*
Abigail*in her mind*Eggman . . . You're not an Overlander. . . You're a demon!
Sonic jumped towards Eggman with a raised fist*
Sonic: I never should have shown you a shred of mercy, you sick -
Suddenly, the original Metal Sonic flew in & grabbed Sonic's face*
Dr. Eggman: Ah-ah-ah! Language, Rodent!
They both skid across the floor*
Sonic: HRK! Okay! I'm officially getting tired of Metal Sonics!*he kicked the robot off him*I really don't have time to mess with -*suddenly, Silver Sonic, a bit damaged & smoking, appeared behind him* - you.
Abigail: Sonic! *both Metal & Silver Sonic started attacking Sonic together* We've got to find way to stop Eggman and we've got to find it now.
Sally looked at Nicole's handheld computer & then at the World Roboticizer*
Sally: I have an idea, but it's going to be risky.
Abigail: What is it?
Sally: I'm going to plug Nicole into the WorldRoboticizer & change it's course. It should work, but it will mean that . . .
I realized what she was talking about*
Abigail: You don't mean . . .
Sally: It's the only way, Abby. I know it's a high price, but it's one I'm willing to pay.
I looked at Sonic, who was still battling against both Metal & Silver Sonic. Then I looked at Sally. I clutched my fist & held out my hand*
Abigail: Give Nicole to me. I'll do it.
Sally: What?
Abigail: I said I'll do it. Sally, you're way too important to this team for you just throw away your life like this. Plus, I know Sonic would never forgive me if I let anything happen to you.
Sally: But then you'll be -
Abigail: I know. But *I held up my pendant* I have a feel that this will protect me.
Sally: But what if -
Abigail: We don't have time to worry about the what-ifs. *I held out my hand again* Just trust me, Sally. Please.
She hesitated, but handed me Nicole & hugged me*
Sally: Just please be careful.
Abigail: You too.
I ran towards theRoboticizer, while Sally got out her Ring Blades*
(Third-Person POV)
Dr. Eggman*laughing*Having trouble, Rodent? No words of ecouragement from you or your little friend, Prin - *Suddenly, Sally jumped in & sliced at Silver Sonic with her Ring Blades* Princess!?
Sonic: Sally! Where's Abby?
Sally: I have a plan and she's carrying it out. And taking a very big risk . . .
Dr. Eggman: Where's the cat? *he activated the weapons in his Eggmobile* I'll tolerate the hedgehog and his little girlfriend causing problems. That's just a fact of life. You aren't allowed to interfere with - EGAD!
Sonic had destroyed his Eggmobilewith a spin dash*
Sonic*in his mind* I know Sal's got a plan, Abby! We'll try to keep these guys busy, while you save the day!
(Abigail's POV)
I had used my hook swords to pry open a hole in the floor & then crawl through it until I reached the wire system & plugged Nicole in*
Abigail: Did that do it? Are you patched into the network?
Nicole: I am. But the defensive software remains formidable. It will take hours to break the encryption.
Abigail: We have minutes. Can we block the command signal? Confused start-up processes?
Nicole: No. I am locked out, and it is ready to fire. I could potentially invert the beam, to this exact point, but . . .
Abigail: Do it.
Nicole: But what if your Pendant can't protect you?
Abigail: Make sure your core programs are safe at home. Just give me a manual executable.
Nicole: But it's possible you'll be . . .
Abigail: Nicole, Sonic, Sally, me, and our whole team risk our lives all the time to protect the people we love. This won't be any different. Please, I can't do this without you.
(Third-Person POV)
Sonic: Abby . . .! If you're gonna do something, do it now!
Sally: Hurry!
Dr. Eggman: No more set-backs! Snively! Fire the World Roboticizer!
(Abigail's POV)
I took a deep breath as Nicole finished the program*
Abigail: Okay . . . It's now or never. *I touched my pendant* Please, keep me safe so I can see my friends again.
I thought about my friends with tears in my eyes as I pressed the button*
(Third-Person POV)
Abigail's pendant started to glow & surrounded her with a bubble*
Suddenly, a bright light filled the room* Yes! *then, everything started sparking* No! No!
Sonic covered Sally with his body as the World Roboticizor exploded*
The explosion could be seen by Tails he flew in the Tornado*
Tails: Sweet! Sonic, Sally, & Abby must've done something!
Inside the Death Egg, the World Roboticizer had been completely destroyed*
Snively*on the speakers*KZZT! You read me, sir!? KZZT! There - KZZT! Massive energy leaks in all systems! The Roboticizer isn't just off-line - It's gone! KZZT! KZZT! All other systems are still online. No loss in altitude KZZT! and the Power Ring matrix isholding. Barley.
Eggman came out from the pile of metal. Most of his mustache had been burned off & some piecesof his clothes were ripped & burnt*
Dr. Eggman: I guess the old immunity wasn't reset after all. Oh, please . . . Pleasetell me that finished him off . . .*suddenly, a red familiar red shoe kicked up a big chunk of metal* No. Of course not.
Sonic & Sally crawled out of the pile of burnt & broken metal, him holdings Metal Sonic's head in one hand & Sally in his other arm*
Sonic: Hey. Look. We .
Eggman pointed a broken metal rod at them*
Dr. Eggman: Not . . . Yet! You're still . . . You're still on my turf, Rodent . . . And . . . And . . .
Sonic knocked him on his back with a spin dash & stood on his stomach*
Sonic: Dude, come on, we win. We'regonna find Abby and then we're destroying your dumb egg.
Sally: Take it easy, Sonic. We don't want him to snap again.
Sonic: Yeah, yeah, yeah. *he turned back to Eggman* Then I'm stomping on Naugus. And then the two of you can rot in a cell. And then I'm going to eat a million chili dogs. And then . . .
Just then, they all heard a loud sound. They turned & saw a brown boot sticking out of a pile of metal. Then Abigail slowly crawled out*
(Abigail's POV)
Sally ran over to me. Sonic turned to Eggman*
Sonic: You. Stay put.
Sonic jumped off Eggman & joined Sally*
Sally: Abby? Are you okay?
Abigail: Oh, I'm more than okay. *I turned to them with a smile as held up a piece of the World Roboticizor* I'm feeling awesome!
