It was moonrise.

The branches swayed, dancing in the wind. It was quiet. No one was out hunting except for a brown tabby cat with green eyes. A ball of magenta light spawned, glowing and jittering. Small tendrils of lightning flashed out of the ball, making zapping sounds.

A cat spawned out of the ball, shaking his short, light gray fur dappled with darker spots. He opened his dark blue eyes, looking around. He flicked his ear, and noticed that the ground made a crater where he emerged.

I could really go for a mouse tail, he thought. It's not like I could eat anything, but...

He spotted the brown tabby cat, chasing after a rabbit. They were near enough to where he could run up and take it from them.

The light gray cat sprinted towards the brown tabby cat. He transformed his arm into a blade, and impaled the cat. He impaled the prey as well and took the rabbit, leaving the brown tabby cat on the grass. He turned his arm back, and walked off, carrying the piece of fresh-kill in his jaws.

The sun shined on ThunderClan camp, warming the forest with its golden rays. Squirrelflight, a warrior of ThunderClan, woke up, stretching her body. She was exhausted-and wanted to go back to sleep. The rest of the warriors woke up soon after her, and her kits, Lionpaw, Jaypaw, and Hollypaw. By the time it was sunhigh, the camp was full of cats chatting, and some were gone to hunt with their apprentices. Ashfur had disappeared a night ago, and the Clan was concerned about this; but they hoped he would find his way back.

Squirrelflight padded up to Brambleclaw, "Hey," she meowed. "Do you know where Ashfur has gone?"

"No," Brambleclaw responded, shifting his paws. "I haven't seen him anywhere."

"That's strange," The dark ginger she-cat furrowed her brow. "He's just... gone?"

"I guess so. I hope he comes back soon."

"Me too."

Lionpaw waited impatiently for Ashfur, sitting down near the camp entrance. Where is he? He thought, flicking his tail. How long will he be gone for? Did he...die? He knew he couldn't have, because someone would have found him already, but where could he go? The forest isn't that big, he remarked. Eventually he would find his way back to camp, right? Hollypaw was busy hunting with her new mentor, Brackenfur, so it wasn't like Lionpaw could talk to him. And Jaypaw was busy in the medicine cat den. What was he supposed to do?

Little did they know, Ashfur was there-just not in the way they thought he would be.
