Midoriya swallowed, feeling nervous. This is going to be the first time his arm is going to be exposed.
What are they all going to think of it? Everyone is going to think it's weird. Kacchan will be demanding answers in two seconds flat!
He grimaced and tried to see if he could hide his arm with his other hand.
I can't figure out a good reason to explain why my hand looks like I'm some kind of animal cosplay! Not to mention, these nails!
He looked at the blue nails that might as well be claws. He traced the patterns of the top part of his arm to his chest. "I would still like to know what these marks mean." He looked up at the knocking.
"Mr. Midoriya, if you're not too busy admiring yourself in the mirror, it's time to meet at the field."
"Uh! Sorry, ma'am!" He ran out of the changing room, almost knocking into his teacher. Her eyes widened and she opened her mouth a little in surprise at his arm. He gritted his teeth in embarrassment and looked away.
The woman seemed to realize what she was doing and looked away. She cleared her throat and swallowed nervously, "Well um…come on." She turned away and walked to the destination, Midoriya practically running after her. He couldn't tell, but it seemed like she was looking at him with some sort of fascination. It was hard to tell with her glaring…
….
His arm looks like a cat…
Aizawa couldn't help but observe as she walked with her student.
….
"Hey, Midoriya! Come over here!" Uraraka waved at him, causing him to blush. "Uh…c-coming!" He held his arm in worry as he briskly walked over.
A short girl with purple balls for hair casually walked closer to him. She poked at him seductively…or at least that's what she was trying to do. Midoriya blushed at the gesture and shook lightly. Uraraka looked at the girl in absolute disgust. She brushed her off of him, looking at her with devil eyes.
"Mineta…" A harsh voice caused the girl to get stiff and she hesitantly looked over her shoulder.
Ashido, Iida, a girl with a high, black ponytail, a girl with headphones coming out of her ears, and a girl with spiky, red hair glared at her.
"You know, your attitude is one of the reasons why men are so wary of us! You should learn some respect!" The ponytailed girl glared at the purple haired girl. Mineta flinched, "I-I'm sorry…"
Uraraka softened a little. She had known Mineta since 5th grade. Before UA, the girl was a sexist freak trying to date every boy she could see. Uraraka had told her mother who told Mineta's mother about her behavior and for the rest of the summer (and all of middle school), she was taken to a correctional facility. She was lucky she was able to talk to a woman who truly believed that how men were being treated were wrong-the correctional facility for sexist thinking didn't really help anybody, as in most of the people that worked there still believed in female supremacy.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her teacher flinch at the girls' words. Good. She's making Midoriya uncomfortable.
"Yo, what's up with your arm?" The spiky redhead girl asked. Uraraka looked over at Midoriya. Her eyes widened at the fine, black hair that covered the appendage. Midoriya quickly hid it behind his shirt.
"Um…it's, uh…it's part of my quirk. The gauntlet that stores my power could make my skin damage really easily, so my quirk changed my skin to make it bearable on my body…" He grimaced with that reasoning. Bakugou gritted her teeth, pure rage in her eyes. A girl with half-red, half-white hair narrowed her eyes.
The spiky redhead just smiled, "That's very cool. It makes you look so manly."
Midoriya grinned, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.
"Everybody, may I have your attention?" All of her students stood up straight, eyes focused. "We're going to be training our quirks today." Uraraka raised her hand, "Aren't we supposed to be in Orientation today, ma'am?"
The woman lifted an eyebrow, "No. You'll receive a packet by the end of the day. Now…Bakugou Katsumi?" The spiky blonde straightened. The woman continued, "Can you up to the front, please?" The girl nodded and walked forward. She looked at her teacher impassively.
"How far could you throw the ball in middle school?"
"67 meters." The black-haired teacher threw the ball at the girl. Bakugou caught it, eyes never leaving her teachers'.
"Throw the ball using your quirk. Stay within the circle or you're disqualified." Bakugou nodded, walking to the circle in confidence. She did a couple of squats and stretched her arms.
"This is how you do it losers…and Deku." Deku gulped, feeling red as he was singled out. Iida and Uraraka glared lightly at Bakugou.
Bakugou threw all her power at the ball and yelled, "DIE!"
Midoriya whispered, "Die..?" The ball basically vanished when she threw the ball. Their teacher turned the scanner, revealing 705.2 meters.
The red, spiky-haired grinned, "WOW! That was such a manly throw, girl!" A blonde-haired girl with a black stripe in the bangs whistled, "Way to represent." Ashido, the pony-tailed girl, and earphone girl clapped as well.
Iida and Uraraka looked at Bakugou with an unsure expression. Between them, Midoriya gulped.
I know those explosions all too well…
The half-red, half-white-haired girl narrowed her eyes at the blonde. Bakugou gave her ponytail a swish and turned to look at Midoriya. She lifted her thumb and swiped it across her neck, giving him a scary smirk.
Iida gave her a stern glare and Uraraka stepped slightly in front of Midoriya, holding her arm in front of him.
Midoriya placed a hand on her shoulder, causing the brunette to look at him. He gave her a shaky smile, "I'm okay. K-Kacchan does that to me all the time…" Uraraka stared him for a few seconds, then turned to Bakugou with a sinister grin.
"This should be fun…"
Unfortunately, the teacher overheard her and misunderstood her meaning. " 'Fun'?! Okay, since that's what you believe, we'll have a little wager: the person who has the lowest score will be expelled." Right after she said that she looked at Midoriya purposefully, causing him to flinch and look down.
Uraraka glared at her teacher, "That's not fair! You can't-!" …continue to single out Midoriya like that!
Once again, she was misunderstood. "I'm the teacher of this class, Miss. Uraraka. This class is a school for heroes. If you're here to have fun, you need to have a different career." Uraraka was about to counter her when Midoriya stood up.
He gave the woman a glare, "We're not here to have fun ma'am." The woman flinched and looked down. Midoriya tilted his head as she shook, and fear filled her eyes. But before he could ask what was up, she calmed down.
She let out a soft sigh and looked back up, black eyes calm and emotionless again.
"Okay…time for you all to take some tests." She gave them all a malicious smile. Bakugou was the only one to match her grin; everyone else (including Midoriya) looked scared.
….
"Bakugou and Todoroki! Speed race-go!" The teacher shouted, immediately backing away from the general vicinity. Bakugou and Todoroki knelt down, looking at each other; Bakugou's expression passionate challenge, Todoroki's apathetic. At the buzzer, Bakugou used her explosions to hover as she sped across the tracking lane. Todoroki used her ice to create a kind of slide as she skid across the sand.
Both passed the lane at the same time.
The woman looked down at the next group. "Iida and Midoriya, you're next!" Midoriya looked down in quiet anger.
She's trying to sabotage me! She put me next to the fastest girl in our class! Well, you ain't seen nothing yet…
Iida tried to tell the teacher how unfair this pairing was, but Midoriya spoke up. "It's okay, Iida. We can partner up."
Iida frowned in concern, "Are you sure Midoriya?"
He nodded, smirking at the teacher, "Absolutely." His teacher frowned but said nothing.
Both Iida and Midoriya stood next to each other.
"Go!"
Iida only took two steps when Midoriya swiftly moved his hand to the left, activating his Recall power, causing everything to still. He poked Iida, causing her to rewind her actions until she was back to the finish line. The Recall power rewinds a person or object to their previous spot until the time limit ended (the time limit was 45 seconds). While his power kept Iida still, he ran to the finish line. The moment he crossed it, he deactivated the power, letting Iida run. She, along with the rest of the class gasped as they all saw Midoriya already passed the finish line.
…
Aizawa gasped-she had been so sure that the boy would've lost! How? How could he have beaten Iida?! She stood in shocked disbelief as she watched Iida congratulate the boy with a proud smile, causing the greenette to blush, rubbing the back of his neck.
Uraraka grinned and ran to the boy as well, giving him a high-five. The other girls stayed back, but for the first time since they saw him, their eyes were filled with hesitant respect. Bakugou just looked at Midoriya with blank eyes.
Aizawa sighed, "Okay. Time for strength training!"
…..
He was doing it again! Before lifting any weights, Midoriya swiftly raised his hand and aimed his clawed hand at the weights. One 75 pound weight hovered until they reached another 75 pound weight and some sort of green, sticky substance connected them both. Midoriya grabbed yet another weight of the same pounds and connected that one with the other two that were previously connected together.
He kept on going until they reached 1 ton and he lifted the weight with ease using his telepathy.
Bakugou kept on glaring at the boy while Midoriya began to separate the weights from each other.
Aizawa sighed, reluctantly giving the boy a passing grade.
….
"Okay. The students who did not start the ball-throw test, come up! Midoriya, Izuku!" Midoriya looked up, tense.
The woman tossed the ball toward the boy who caught it clumsily. He let out a sheepish laugh and followed his teachers' directions. He stood in the circle and quickly waved his hand in an upper-right position. He turned his hand into a claw and lifted the ball into the air. He moved his arm in a throw-back position.
He heard his teacher gasp in surprise. Still staying in his position, he turned to look over at his teacher. The woman's hair was raised above her, like an avenging angel. Her eyes were red and staring straight at him…in astonishment? She was grasping the scarf that was around her neck, hand trembling.
But Midoriya wasn't really paying attention to that. He looked in astonishment as he seemed to recognize the move that she was doing.
"Whoa…You're Shoko Aizawa...no...Erasermind! You're one of the only heroes who fight basically quirkless! I am a HUGE fan!" His green eyes sparkled with awe and admiration as he stared at his teacher.
Now Aizawa began to feel her hard heart soften a little at the amazement in his voice.
Midoriya then got confused, "What are you doing exactly?"
Aizawa realized that her hair was still levitating and she still gripped onto her scarf. She cleared her throat and slowly stopped her quirk. "Nothing Midoriya. Continue the exercise."
"…Okay." He wound his arm back even further, the ball hovering farther with his movements. He then took a deep breath and threw the ball as hard as he could. The ball made a sharp noise as it flew through the air. Aizawa looked down at her stopwatch, mouth dropped in astonishment.
She turned the screen over wordlessly.
1003.2
"Wow! That was amazing, Midoriya!" Uraraka raised a fist into the air.
A tall girl with big lips gave him a smile, "Way to go!"
A blonde girl with French heritage gave him a blow-kiss, invisible sparkles all around her, "You did well, Mon Cher!"
The half-red, half-white-haired girl narrowed her eyes, mouth turned down into a glare.
Bakugou had no expression on her face.
…
All of Class 1-A stood before the billboard. All of their scores were listed. Midoriya hastily scrolled his eyes down the list, feeling his heart sink lower and lower as he read each name.
Finally, he saw his name…he was in 10th place!
Thank you!
He heard a tearful gasp. Mineta crouched down on the ground, pressing her hands against her face. She was trembling, whimpering in agony. Before he took a step, his teacher spoke, "Oh, and that expulsion thing? I lied."
"…Huh?"
Aizawa gave the class a smirk, "That was just a clever deception to make sure you gave it your all in the test."
Midoriya gritted his teeth in agitation. He may be a huge fan of hers, but he knows crap when he hears it.
She's totally lying! She planned to expel me!
The pony-tailed girl looked at her shocked class sheepishly. "It was pretty obvious guys. I'm sorry-I probably should've said something."
All of the other girls glared at her silently. Midoriya just kept his feelings to himself.
