Chapter 6: The Plan:
Story:
The bell rings and Max went to see his master, even though he fears the upcoming disaster.
...
Up the elevator to the Grinch's room, where the Grinch plans the holiday's doom. Max wished he was blind, for he saw the Grinch jazzercizing and possibly breaking his spine. "Max, as you know, I plan to steal Christmas, but you're probably wondering how," says Grinch, "I'm going to become Santa Claus! If Santa can deliver presents in one night, why can't I steal it? What's he got that I don't have!" Max barks. "Now that's just hurtful!"
...
Cindy was sad because of last night. She really thought it would be alright. "Hey Cindy," says Burke.
"Hey... Burke," Cindy blushes.
"I wonder why the Grinch freaked out over a razor," says Burke, "he really needed it."
"I'll tell you why," says Martha, "when we were kids, the Grinch had a gift for me, but he wanted to look his best, so he shaved... that didn't go well."
"That's why," says Cindy.
"Did I have a crush on the Grinch," asks Martha, "ridiculous!"
"We didn't say that," says Cindy.
Martha then ran away, for there was no more she wanted to say.
"I wonder if my uncle realized that," asks Burke, "I gotta go!" Burke left to talk to the mayor.
Cindy continued to think, "It just isn't fair!"
...
"To get into character, I must learn about Santa," says Grinch, "this book will help!" The Grinch looks through the book that talks about toys, songs, and pudding. "How does pudding work its way into everything? Look at this, children dreaming about sugar Plumms. And this gingerbread house... actually, it's kind of nice... look at the detail... and the little gumdrop family... Anyway, here's Santa! Red suit... white beard... always jolly... That's not going to happen! Let's start with the reindeer!
...
The Grinch went out to find a reindeer that will help him make Christmas disappear. "This is a reinhorn," says Grinch, "it imitates a reindeer's mating call!" The Grinch blows his horn, but before he can gloat, instead, what appears before him, is a goat. "Oh... not what I..." The goat then screams, startling the Grinch. It was enough to make him flinch. "Goodbye, strange goat!"
...
The Grinch and Max found a whole group of reindeer. "Look at what just appeared!" The Grinch was about to blow his horn... but the goat's scream scared them away. "No, I beg of you all to stay!" The Grinch then sees a reindeer bigger than himself. In its fur, you could probably hide an elf. "Well, Santa had eight tiny reindeer, this one looks like it ate the other seven." The Grinch attempts to capture the beast, but he kept failing the least. Eventually, the deer does join him. "Come, time to make this holiday grim!"
