"You will all be split into teams-two people will make up each team. This will be Team A through Team L. Team A through Team F will be the Heroes; Team G through Team L will be the Villains. I will take your names out of this box and group you into those teams. Let's get started…"
….
Midoriya looked at the map of the building they were going to practice in. His partner Uraraka looked at her own copy, hand on her chin. "This seems to be a very advanced place. I think they have more rooms than this."
Midoriya gulped, "Y-Yeah…" Uraraka looked up from her map.
"What's wrong?" Midoriya gulped, "It's…it's just…Kacchan…" Uraraka tilted her head, "'Kacchan?'"
"Katsumi." When Uraraka still continued to look at him blankly, he continued, "Bakugou. We were childhood friends, and-."
"OH…" Uraraka snapped her fingers in realization, "That's how she seems to know you! And she's your friend? Are you sure?"
"Yeah…" Midoriya looked up in time to meet Bakugou's eyes. The girl had her mouth turned down into a snarl and she used her thumb to make a 'You're dead' gesture at him. He squeaked and looked down, shaking his shoulders.
I can't…I won't let her continue this! He straightened up and glared back at her. The blonde gave him a double take at him, red eyes wide with surprise…then narrowed back into her trademark glare. Midoriya just looked back down at his gloved arm, clenching it into a fist.
I'm not some nobody anymore Katsumi! And by the end of this exercise, you're going to acknowledge that too!
…
"Team E and Team J! You're up!" Midoriya looked up at his team was called. Team J was…Iida and…BAKUGOU?!
Midoriya literally felt the blood drain from his face as he glanced at the Villain team. Uraraka gave him a pat on the back in condolence, but that hardly helped. Bakugou made one hand into a fist and punched it into her other palm. Fire and a 'boom' came from her fist, causing him to have a flashback…
…
A boy with brown, fluffy hair curled into a ball, silent tears falling down his face. His cries were silent as he listened to the taunts the three girls were sending his way.
Midoriya was in front of him, looking at the three girls…no, looking at the lead girl. His green eyes were filled with tears as well, but he stood his ground. He gazed at the girl that used to be his friend.
"W-why..? Why are you being so mean? You're making him cry, Kacchan!" He got into a defensive stance, holding his fists up. "If you keep on hurting him, I'll…uh…I'll stop you myself!"
Nothing about me has changed Kacchan! Why did you?!
Katsumi laughed cruelly, punching her right fist into her left palm. A few sparks of light and a booming sound echoed.
"What's a quirkless loser like you gonna do about it…Deku?!" She ran forward with fists raised, her two friends closing in behind her…
…
"Midoriya? Hey, Midoriya!" A gentle hand shook him, causing him to look up. Iida looked down at him with worried eyes. "Are you okay?"
Midoriya cleared his throat. "I'm…I'm fine. Just…memories, that's all." Iida narrowed her eyes in realization and looked toward Katsumi, who had already walked ahead to get into position. The bluenette looked back at Midoriya and opened her mouth.
Midoriya held up his hand. "It's okay, Iida. It was all in the past. Please don't start anything with her on my account." Iida sighed.
"If you say so, Midoriya."
…
Uraraka did some stretches as she waited for All Might to announce that the fight had started. Turning to Midoriya, she let out a sympathetic sound as the boy silently shook.
"Don't worry Midoriya. I have a feeling we might win." Midoriya gulped, "I-I'm not sure about that."
Uraraka frowned in concern, "Midoriya…" She gave him a determined smile. "No, focus. We can do this! Bakugou needs to be taken down a few pegs!"
Midoriya shook, "She can probably hear you…"
…
Iida stretched her arms, hearing the creaks of her plated armor as she did. She winced-maybe she put on too much muscle…
She stretched out her back, letting out a little grunt at the little pops the action created. She put her blue hair up into a ponytail and picked up her helmet.
"Four-eyes." Iida rolled her eyes and looked over at her classmate. The blonde was facing away from her, hands rolled into fists. "What do you think about Deku?"
Iida sighed and turned to her, "I think he's a courageous young man. If I was a man and I had the same quirk I have now, I don't believe I would've gone into heroics-what with how the world is. He's probably been treated like garbage all his life, but he's still doing something that he wants to do, despite the odds against him. I…admire that about him." She then looked up abruptly, face turning a bit red, "Only like a brother though, so don't get any ideas in your head!" She calmed down and looked at Bakugou seriously.
"Midoriya seems to know you more than any of us-he called you a nickname in class and you responded accordingly. You two obviously have a history together-what did he do to make you so angry at him?"
Bakugou didn't answer.
…
I can't believe he never told me…
Why?
Why didn't he tell me..?
If he truly valued our friendship, he would've said something to me years ago…
Deku..!
I'm going to KILL you..!
Bakugou opened her palm and let out a few sparks in her frustration. She heard Iida let out a sigh but she didn't care. She nursed her anger, taking in deep breaths. Slowly the hot anger turned into cold determination. Deku will pay for tricking her.
…..
All Might gazed at the screen, bringing the mic closer to her. "Okay gir-heroes and villains! It's time to start! You're out of the exercise if you either, A. Get captured by the tape the opposite team has or B. You capture/defend the bomb until the time limit! And go!"
She watched the screen along with the rest of the girls.
…
Midoriya and Uraraka walked slowly down the hall, looking every which way. Both of them were acutely aware that Bakugou was going to confront them-more likely Midoriya than Uraraka. They turned toward each other and gave each other a nod. They were a couple of feet from the end of the hall until a loud boom and a black shadow followed right after it.
Midoriya jumped backwards, pushing Uraraka out of the way. Uraraka jumped the other side of the hallway to gain some distance. An arm moved swiftly through the smoke, a very pissed off Bakugou looking right at Midoriya.
