Chapter 11: Something More:
Story:
The Grinch continued to steal Christmas from the town. He even robbed my place. I saw him face to face.
Grinch: You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch
You're the king of sinful sots
Your heart's a dead tomato splotched with moldy purple spots
Mr. Grinch
Your soul is an appalling dump heap
Overflowing with the most disgraceful
Assortment of deplorable rubbish imaginable
Mangled up in tangled up knots
You nauseate me, Mr. Grinch
With a nauseous super nos
You're a crooked jerky jockey and
You drive a crooked horse
Mr. Grinch
You're a three-decker sauerkraut
And toadstool sandwich
With arsenic sauce!
...
The Grinch took it all to the mountain top, proud of his plot. "And now I'm going to tell you, this is where they'll cry boohoo!"
...
The people thought something was wrong. They then realized it was all gone. "Invite the Grinch and destroy Christmas," says the Mayor, "invite the Grinch and destroy Christmas! I hope you're proud of yourself!"
"Uncle Augustus..." Burke started.
"If she's not, I am," says Lou, "I'm glad it's all gone! We all forgot that Christmas isn't about all this stuff! Christmas is in all of us! You can't get rid of Christmas by getting rid of all the presants and toys and decorations!"
Everyone listend and liked what they hear. The Grinch cannot stop Christmas cheer!
...
The Grinch listened, hoping to find sad cheers. That is a sound he would like to hear.
Chorus: Fah-who foris, dah-who doris, welcome Christmas, bring your light
Fah-who foris, dah-who doris, welcome in the cold at night
Welcome Christmas, fah-who rah-moose
Welcome Christmas dah-who dah-moose
Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart and hand in hand
Trim up the tree with Christmas stuff like bingle balls and who-floo fluff
Trim up the tree with goo-hoo guns and bizel blicks at ones
Trim every blessed window and trim every blessed door
Hang up woo boo hoo bricks, then run out and get some more
Hang pantukas on the ceiling, pile panpunas on the floor
Trim every blessed needle on the blessed Christmas tree
Christmas comes tomorrow, trim you, trim me
Trim up the tree with busel buns, and bliffer bloofs, and wunsel wuns
Trim up your uncle and your aunt with yards of who flunt flan
Trim up with yards of who flunt flan!
The Grinch HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming! IT CAME! Somehow or other, it came just the same! And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow, Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so? It came with out ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!" And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!" Then saw the little girl and he wondered to himself. If he did what she did, would he feel what she felt? The Grinch closes his eyes and listens to the song and he felt a warmth that didn't feel wrong. And as they say, his heart grew three sizes that day. Then the sleigh was about to fall and the Grinch had to act fast. He had to save them or they could not last. Then the Grinch gained the strength of ten grinches plus two and Fred and his family came to help too.
...
The Grinch, Max, and deer friends then returned to Newville to return it all. It was a good thing they did not let any of it fall. "I did it," says Grinch, "I stole it all! And I'm sorry!" The Grinch then leaves to go home, expecting to once again, be alone."
"Don't let him get away, Officer," says Mayor Augustus, "you heard him!"
"I did," says the Police officer, "he said he was sorry!"
"Augustus," says Martha, "I'm afraid there's someone else who has my heart!"
"You mean the Grinch, right," asks Bricklebaum.
...
The Grinch was turning over a new leaf and gave Max a chew toy. This presant gave Max so much joy. "That's going to get annoying," says Grinch. Then there was a knock on the door, and he heard it before.
...
Grinch opens the door and sees it was Cindy again, the girl who wanted to be his friend. "Mr. Grinch, I've come to invite you to a Christmas party and this time, we all want you there!"
"But... I stole your Christmas," says Grinch.
"I know," says Cindy, "but we still want you there... except the Mayor, but... he may not stay in office for very long!" Cindy then returns to her home and the Grinch wondered if he'll stay alone.
To Be Continued
In the next chapter, the Grinch joins the party.
