Hi again everyone! It's so good to see you again. Before I start this chapter I just wanted to say tsym for over 180 views! It makes me happy to see that other people are enjoying this story as much as I am. The next few chapters are going to be a little boring, but not for long and then we can get to the interesting part. You can also just copy and paste it in chat gpt and ask it to summarize lmao. Ily all, keep reading!

Amber -

It hurts. It hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts.

I knew, I knew I shouldn't have skipped out on so many meals but I couldn't eat. My head throbs and I wish I had ice but I don't.

June sits on the bed next to me, murmuring sweet things to me and holding my hand.

"June..." I try to say.

"Shhhh." She whispers.

"No, I have to..." but my voice trails off again.

I'm too weak to speak.

"Oh god, Amber." She says, and I think I see tears in her eyes.

It breaks my heart that my younger sister is crying when she deserves all the happiness in the world. She's only sixteen.

"June, I'm sorry." My voice trembles on the last word.

She must see the fear in my eyes because she squeezes my hand tighter.

"No, you don't have to be sorry. Stay with me, Amber."

Stay with me stay with me stay with me stay with me...

Maxon -

I open my eyes to America shaking me, a panicked look in her eyes. For a moment, I think the rebels have gotten into the palace, but there are no sirens. We never dismantled the alarm system.

"Maxon, honey, get up!" She says urgently.

Blinking, I sit up and stand. I'm only in my underwear, but my clothes are stacked neatly on the edge of the bed. I quickly pull them on, and America does the same. It's only then do I realize Amber's maid, Ivy is standing in the corner, with her eyes squeezed shut.

"You can look now." I say gently.

Her eyes pop open and the pure terror in her eyes scares me more than she can know.

"America, what's happening?" I ask her.

She looks at me and shakes her head.

"Ivy, please come with us. Maxon, we're going to Amber's room."

Without another word, my wife grabs hold of my arm and starts dragging me to the door. My brain doesn't react quickly enough, but I yank my arm out of her grasp and run with her. I can hear Ivy's steps behind us, and I can't say this is my proudest moment but if something is wrong with one of my children, pride means nothing.

When we reach the Princesses Suite, I can't stop myself and burst into Amber's room. My daughter is lying in the bed, looking like she's only moments away from death. I hear America's choked gasp behind me, and she rushes to Amber's side, smoothing her hair away from her face. The strands that were on her forehead are damp with sweat, and the usual quiet strength in Amber's eyes has dimmed. She's not fighting.

"Amber, please!" I say, holding America from behind. But her eyes are closing again, and no matter how America shakes her, she's not waking up.

Sorry for the short chapter lovelies! I promise the next one will be longer! The only reason this was so short is for dramatic purposes but don't worry! I'm sticking with this until it's finished, and I hope you do the same.
