Chapter 25

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Part 3

As they were ready to battle against the Heartless once more, Molly and her friends followed the beam of darkness to what appeared to be an abandoned warehouse. This confused Molly and Libby because the Heartless usually attacked places where there are people around. Whatever the Heartless had planned, Molly and Libby were still going to stop them.

Everyone entered the warehouse to see that there wasn't the tiniest bit of light inside. Nothing can be heard, apart from the distant echoes of their footsteps. As they explored the warehouse, they took notice of a single Heartless in the corner. In an attempt to sneak up on it, Molly and her friends summoned their weapons to get the drop on it. However, the moment the Heartless turned around, Molly and her friends found themselves surrounded by countless robot Heartless, each of them aiming their lasers.

"Aaaah! They're everywhere!" Molly screamed.

"It must have been a trap. The Heartless must have known we were coming." Libby guessed.

"Trap or not, we're not going down that easily!" Lunella said as she got ready to fight.

Since she was the only one who didn't know how to fight, Casey took a few steps back before she said, "I'll just stay over here and stay out of your way. You got this, Lunella!"

With that, the Heartless jumped forward as they got ready to attack. However, Molly and the others were too fast for them. Molly, Libby, and Xehanort summoned reflect spells to reflect the lasers right back at the Heartless. Meanwhile, Lunella punched the Heartless down while Devil chomped on the Heartless with his sharp teeth.

Just as suddenly as the fight began, all of the Heartless disappeared instantly, much to the surprise of Molly and the others. Usually, their fights with the Heartless were a lot tougher than this.

"Uh, okay. Looks like we won." Molly guessed. "Great job, everyone!"

"Wait, don't let your guard down!" Xehanort told Molly.

"Why? What's wrong, Xehanort?" Libby asked.

"That was too easy. I don't think the Heartless would give up so easily." Xehanort cautiously looked around.

As everyone looked around the warehouse, they were unaware of someone sneaking behind Devil. With a powerful magic spell, the mysterious figure zapped Devil, causing him to roar in pain.

Upon hearing her friend in pain, Lunella turned around horrified by what she saw. "Devil!"

The spell began to transform Devil as his red skin turned dark-purple. His black pupils disappeared completely, leaving his eyes completely yellow, and his fangs were longer and sharper than ever. After the spell took effect, Devil gave a mighty roar before glaring at Molly and the others, baring his sharp teeth.

Lunella never thought she would be afraid of Devil, but stepped forward to calm him down. "D-Devil, what's wrong?" Lunella asked, only to barely dodge out of the way when Devil tried to bite her. "Whoa, it's me! Don't you recognize me?"

"I'm afraid that he doesn't!" said a voice that was all too familiar to Molly and Libby.

Out of the shadows stepped Maleficent with a sinister grin.

"Maleficent!" Molly and Libby yelled in unison.

Even though she didn't know who this Maleficent was, Lunella was not going to let her get away with this.

"What have you done to Devil?!" Lunella demanded, furious with Maleficent for what she did to her friend.

"I merely increased the darkness your friend held in his heart." Maleficent gestured towards Devil.

"What do you mean? Devil is a hero." Molly pointed out.

Maleficent chuckled. "Oh, Molly! You should know that everyone has darkness in their hearts! Even heroes like this dinosaur! Now that he is giving into the darkness, there is nothing stopping him from destroying the world he swore to protect!"

With an evil laugh, Maleficent disappeared in a flash of green flames. As they were alone with the now corrupted Devil, the dinosaur let out an ear piercing roar as he charged straight at everyone before they all jumped out of the way. This caused Devil to crash through a wall, creating a dinosaur shaped hole in it.

Everyone approached the hole to see Devil running towards the city. Now that Devil was corrupted by the darkness, there was no telling what he would do once he attacks the city.

"This is bad! Devil is going on a rampage! What are we going to do?" Casey asked.

Truthfully, Lunella didn't know the answer herself. "I-I don't know. We have to stop Devil but we can't hurt him!"

"I promise it won't come down to that, Lunella!" Libby assured.

"Libby is right. If we can free Devil of the darkness, he should return back to normal." Molly explained. "I know that the real Devil is still in there deep down. We just have to save him."

Lunella stayed silent for a few moments before she gave a nod. "You're right. Devil never gave up on me, and I'm not going to give up on him!"

With that, Molly and the others ran out the warehouse to confront Devil. They all stood on a nearby street as they heard Devil's footsteps getting closer and closer. All of their hearts started to race as they knew that they were in for a tough fight.

"So, how are we supposed to defeat a dinosaur?" Xehanort asked.

"I have no idea." Molly replied, not hiding the fact that she was frightened.

It was at that moment when Devil revealed himself and charged forward. Thinking fast, Molly and her friends dodged out of the way before Lunella skated towards Devil to reason with him.

"Devil, please! I know that you are still there! You have to fight the darkness! Yikes!" Lunella was taken by surprise when Devil tried to bite her with his sharp teeth.

As Lunella barely dodged the attacks, she found herself cornered with no place to skate out of. Seeing that their friend was in danger, Molly and Libby tried to get Devil's attention.

"Hey, get away from her!" Molly yelled.

In response, Devil turned to face the girls with a growl. He then opened his mouth before charging up a beam of darkness.

"Oh no! This doesn't look good!" Libby said as she and Molly braced themselves for the worst.

The beam fired before Molly and Libby tried to block it with their keyblades. It did them no good as the beam was so powerful it knocked the two of them against a wall. Despite the devastating attack, Molly and Libby weren't ready to give up just yet. They slowly stood up right as Devil brought his attention back to Lunella.

Before Devil could make a move, Molly and Libby began to hit him with their light magic spells. This caused Devil to slowly but surely turn from his dark purple color, to his usual red color. His pupils soon returned as he started to recognize Lunella.

"Devil?"

Lunella reached out for him, only for his corruption to take over once more. His soft expression turned to a look of rage as he roared once again. Taking advantage of the confusion, Xehanort took Lunella's hand and dragged her to safety.

"Lunella, are you okay?" Casey asked.

Lunella nodded in response. "I'm fine, Casey. I think we're getting through to Devil! Molly! Libby! I don't know what you are doing, but keep it up while I keep Devil distracted."

"Just leave it to us, Lunella!" Molly smiled.

"Are you sure you are going to be okay?" Libby asked, concerned for her friend.

With a confident grin, Lunella took out a cassette player and said, "Don't worry about me! I got this!"

At that moment, Lunella pressed play on the cassette tape before a pop song began to play. Wasting no time, Lunella skated straight towards Devil, who ran towards her at full speed. Right at the last moment, Lunella dodged out of the way. With a growl, Devil turned around and tried to stomp Lunella with his massive feet, but Lunella dodged along to the beat of the song.

With Devil distracted, Molly and Libby tried hitting him with their light spells once again. The dinosaur then turned to the girls with a look of rage before charging straight at them. Thankfully, Xehanort was able to stop him by summoning chains of darkness to pin Devil to the ground. This allowed Molly and Libby to summon more light spells at Devil.

Despite Devil's efforts to free himself, he found himself getting weaker and weaker until he could barely move a muscle. Soon, Lunella stood right in front of Devil and skated towards him. Devil growled, getting ready for an attack, but instead of attacking, Lunella gave him a hug.

"It's going to be okay, Devil. I promise we'll get through this." Lunella comforted her friend.

Surprised by this, Devil began to experience flashbacks of all the time he spent with Lunella. He thought back to when they first met and all they adventures they had together since then. Once his pupils returned to his eyes, he looked down at Lunella with a smile before giving her a lick on the face like a dog.

Lunella giggled, happy to have her friend back. "Devil, quit it!"

At that moment, the darkness slowly faded away as Devil's body returned to its red color. The remaining darkness floated in the air before Molly and Libby destroyed it with their keyblades. With Devil back to normal, Xehanort released him from his chains.

"Looks like Devil is back to normal now!" Molly smiled.

"And it's all thanks to you, Libby, and Xehanort!" Lunella replied. "If you weren't here to help, who knows what would have happened?"

"We're just glad that Devil is safe! Now that all the darkness is gone, Molly, Xehanort, and I should get going to save others from the Heartless." Libby explained.

"Aw. We were just starting to have a fun time together too." Lunella sighed, sad to see her friends go. "Well, Casey and I wish you all luck on the rest of your adventure."

"Before you leave, what do you say I take a little selfie of all of us?" Casey offered.

Molly nodded. "Of course! That way you and Lunella have something to remember us by!"

At that moment, everyone huddled together, much to Xehanort's discomfort. As she gave a smile, Casey took a picture on her phone, capturing this wonderful moment that she and Lunella would remember forever.

After saying goodbye to Lunella, Devil, and Casey, Molly and her friends returned to the gummiship. Once they activated the gummiship, it flew up into the sky once more.

"Well, that's another world saved!" Molly smiled. "At this rate, we'll be able to save all of the worlds from the Heartless in no time!"

As she piloted the gummiship, Libby suddenly gave a confused look before pressing various buttons on the controls. "What the? This isn't right!"

"What's wrong?" Xehanort asked.

"I can't control the gummiship. It seems to be moving on its own." Libby pointed out, unable to regain control of the ship.

With the controls taken over, all Molly and her friends could do was wait as the gummiship drifted through space. It wasn't long before they floated towards an all too familiar tower.

"The ship must be taking us towards that tower." Xehanort noticed.

"It's Master Yen Sid's tower." Molly explained. "He must want to speak with us."

"With any luck, he hopefully found a way to stop the Heartless." Libby hoped.

As they flew closer to the tower, Molly and her friends sat in silence, knowing that whatever it is that Yen Sid wanted from them, it was something important. After all the adventures they had, they had a strong feeling that they were about to face their greatest challenge yet.
