Come to think of it, Greek Life was worth it in the end. There were days when saving the world would be at the forefront of my mind. But being around the Boys and unwinding reminded me to enjoy the little things and life. It was also a nice reminder of what, and who, I was fighting for.
An Excerpt from the Diary of Tobias Cook, discovered in the debris.

The night air buzzed with excitement as the new initiates gathered outside the Phi Delta Theta house, the lights glowing against the darkened campus. Obi stood shoulder to shoulder with JT, their faces glowing with anticipation. He felt a strange mix of pride and nervousness swirling in his chest. The brotherhood he was about to officially join was legendary, but it was more than that—it was the beginning of something new.
They entered the house, greeted by the cheers and whistles of the older brothers. Among them stood Sean, Obi's Big, a towering Junior with an infectious grin and a reputation for being one of the more 'sane' guys in the fraternity.
"You ready, Little?" Sean asked, clapping a hand on Obi's shoulder. Obi nodded, managing a smile despite the weight in his chest.
Sean had been a steady mentor throughout the pledging process. He was patient, funny, and had a way of making Obi feel like he truly belonged in the fraternity—something Obi had struggled with in recent memory. Sean treated him like family from the start, which helped wash away feelings of loneliness and doubt.
In the distance, at the AEPi house, Matti and Luca were going through their own initiation. Luca had been nervous, but Matti was in his element, confidently embracing the ritual. They'd bonded over shared experiences of being new to Greek life, and Luca found comfort in Matti's company. The camaraderie between them made the experience that much more meaningful.
Meanwhile, at Alpha Phi, Willow stood proudly with Nora by her side. Their "Big" sisters, Aria and Cassidy, were well-known within the sorority, and they had taken Willow and Nora under their wings. Aria, a Junior, was everything Nora had looked up to—confident, driven, and charismatic. She was one of the most popular girls in Greek Life, and Willow couldn't believe her luck to be paired with her as well.
"I'm happy to have you here," Aria hugged Willow tightly.
Willow shook her head, "I'm speechless."
"Welcome to the Sisterhood," Aria nodded as she cleared her dark hair from her face. "You're gonna do great, I just know it!"
The post-initiation mixer was in full swing across Greek Row. Up and down the street, the members of Greek Life congregated for a night of fun. Music pulsed through the air, laughter and shouts filled the room as the new brothers mingled with the older members. Obi, still buzzing from the ceremony, leaned against a wall on the Phi Delt house front porch, drink in hand, watching JT talk excitedly to a group of their new brothers.
"Man, this feels surreal," Obi said, grinning. Sean clapped him on the back.
"You've earned it, Obi," Sean replied, "Enjoy the night."
"Yes, sir!" Obi gave Sean a whimsical salute, which made the latter laugh.
Obi glanced across the street where Luca and Matti were laughing together, sharing stories about their own initiation experience at AEPi. His heart warmed as he saw how comfortable Luca was, a stark contrast to the shy, nervous guy he'd met at the Bistro. Luca's eyes caught his for a moment, a brief spark of connection flickering between them. Luca gave Obi a head nod and a smile.
Before Obi could respond, a loud crash echoed down the street, followed by screams. The music cut off abruptly, and everyone began to look in every direction, trying to pinpoint the source of the sound. Obi felt a pulsation within his Bio-Field - Like a soft constriction in his chest, causing an adrenaline rush to course through him. His battle ready instincts kicked into gear.
"What the hell?" JT muttered, moving toward the door. Obi felt his stomach drop. He knew that sound—it was all too familiar.
He bolted outside before anyone could stop him, JT close on his heels. The sight that greeted them was nightmarish. A grotesque, hulking monster with twisted limbs and a face contorted in rage was rampaging through the front yard, scattering students in every direction. It had ashen grey skin and eyes that glowed red with rage.
"It's not fair…" It growled in a warped human-like voice. "It's not fair! I wanted to join!"
"What is that thing?" JT gasped, frozen in shock.
Obi's heart pounded in his chest. There was no time to explain. He had to act.
"I'll explain later," Obi said, his voice firm. "Get to safety." Before Obi could act, JT grabbed him.
"Let's go!" They joined the flurry of hundreds of students, trying to get away from the monster. Obi tried his best to break away from JT, but the taller boy's grip was ironclad. When a tipsy girl tripped and fell, JT instinctively helped her up, releasing his hold on Obi. Using this opportunity, Obi ran against the crowd and toward the communal park area at the center of Greek Row, where the monster was pursuing newly initiated students.
Making sure no one was paying attention, Obi jumped into the shadow of a tree. Little did he know, JT was a few feet away, looking for him.
Without another word, Obi flicked his wrist to summon his Morpher, the device shimmering with the familiar glow of his power. JT's eyes widened as Obi activated it.
"Vortex Power, Crystalize!" Obi shouted, and in a flash of brilliant red light, he transformed into the Red Crystal Ranger.
JT stood there, slack-jawed, as Obi charged toward the monster, his red armor gleaming in the moonlight. The creature roared and swung a massive claw at Obi, but he dodged with practiced precision, countering with a flurry of swift punches and kicks.
The fight was intense, and the monster was stronger than anything Obi had faced recently, but he couldn't afford to lose. Frustrated, the monster turned to see a straggling sorority girl trying to get away. It roared, its voice a cross between a lion and a howling monkey. It charged forward, intent on making this girl its victim. Obi poured Grid Energy into his legs and took off at a high speed. He managed to get the girl out of the way, right on time. He skidded to a halt about 20 feet from the monster.
"Get to safety!" He encouraged the girl.
"Kate!" Nora and Willow appeared from the darkness and grabbed their sorority sister.
"Thank you!" Willow called back as she and Nora helped their friend get to a safe place. The monster jumped into the air, but Obi rolled away, summoned his blaster, and fired a few shots into its torso, sending it stumbling back.
"Tough guy," Obi quipped as he let his Blaster disappear. With a final burst of energy, Obi summoned his Crystal Sword and slashed through the creature's defenses, sending it crashing into a tree. It shook itself off and went on all fours.
"Alright," Obi shrugged, "I'll play." The boy lowered himself into a low stance, charging energy into his sword. At the same time, the two titans charged at each other with full power. In a swift moment, Obi slashed through the monster's stomach while avoiding the creatures arms. He once again skidded to a stop and dropped to one knee. Meanwhile, the monster let out one last roar of pain and fell forward, defeated.
"Goodnight," Obi remarked to the down creature as it burst into light particles… The same way the Zentinels did.
The courtyard fell eerily silent as the monster disintegrated into sprinkles of light. Obi stood there, catching his breath. Obi glanced over at JT, who was staring at him with wide eyes, his mouth still slightly open in shock.
"Obi?" Came a small gasp.
Bewildered, Obi froze.
"You're… You're a Power Ranger?" JT finally managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper.
Obi raised his finger to his mouth to shush his roommate, "Please, can we talk about this later?"
JT blinked a few times, trying to process everything. "Dude… That was insane."
Before Obi could respond, a crowd started to gather, murmuring and buzzing with excitement. Phones were out, and videos were already being uploaded. Obi knew what this meant—by morning, everyone at school would be talking about the Red Crystal Ranger being on campus.
Obi glanced at JT, who gave him a knowing nod. "Don't worry," JT said, "your secret's safe with me. I'll meet you at the dorm."
For the next week, campus was abuzz with excitement. Social media was flooded with clips of the Red Crystal Ranger fighting the monster outside the Phi Delta Theta house. Everyone had a theory, but no one knew who the mysterious Ranger was—except for JT.
Obi kept his head down, trying to blend in with the crowd as best as he could. But the whispers followed him everywhere. "Did you hear about the Red Ranger?" "He's definitely a student."
"Maybe he's one of the guys at the fraternity party…"
JT, true to his word, kept Obi's secret. But Obi knew it was only a matter of time before someone connected the dots. For now, though, he would just have to keep playing the role of a normal student—at least as much as he could.
"You totally owe me an explanation," JT muttered to Obi as they walked to breakfast. "I'm not blackmailing you, but... I'd like to know."
"I gotchu," Obi nodded. "I promise."
