Chapter 78: Desperation

Frieza's laughter reverberated through the fractured landscape, his tail coiled tightly around Goku's neck, choking the life out of him. Goku clawed feebly at the unyielding grip, his once vibrant aura flickering like a dying ember. His wild yellow eyes dulled, and his muscles, which had swelled with primal fury moments before, began to shrink as his transformation faded.

From the sidelines, Hinata watched in abject horror, her Tenseigan glowing brightly. She could see it all—the rapid decline of her husband's energy, the oxygen slipping away, the flicker of his life force growing dimmer. Her heart pounded as a mix of fear and desperation overtook her.

"No!" she screamed, her voice cracking. "Let him go!"

Naruto's eyes darted between Goku and Frieza, his fists shaking with fury. "Come on, Goku! Do something!" he shouted, but there was no response.

Ino, standing a few feet behind Naruto, was frozen. Her hands trembled at her sides, her chest heaving as she stared at Goku's limp form. Her lips quivered as she tried to find her voice, but the words came out as a whisper. "No... not him. Not like this." Increasingly distant memories of her connection with Goku—his warmth, his kindness—surged to the forefront of her mind.

Lee stood rigid, his body trembling with suppressed vigor. "This is… unbearable," he muttered, his voice low. "How can we just stand here and let this happen?"

The strongest female of the bunch answered that question in one way: her inability to hold back any longer. With a cry of determination, she launched herself forward, her eyes blazing with radiant energy. "Goku!" she yelled, her voice carrying the force of her love and resolve. Her hands surged with chakra, ready to strike and free her husband from Frieza's death grip.

But before she could reach him, a blur of motion intercepted her. THOOOM!

Vegeta's boot slammed into her side with brutal precision, sending her skidding across the ground. She gasped, the impact driving the air from her lungs, but she managed to roll to a stop and glare up at him with defiance.

"Stay out of this!" the prince barked, his voice like a whip. His expression was fierce, his dark eyes burning with purpose as he turned his attention back to Frieza and Goku. "This is not your fight, woman!"

Hinata struggled to her feet, clutching her ribs. "He's my husband! I won't let you—"

Vegeta cut her off, his tone sharp and unforgiving. "Your husband is weak! He had his chance and failed. Now step aside... and let a real warrior handle this!"

Naruto's anger boiled over. "Hey, watch your mouth, Vegeta!" he shouted, stepping forward, but Sasuke's arm shot out to block him.

"Not now," Sasuke said quietly, his eyes spinning as he analyzed the scene. "Something's about to happen."

As if on cue, Goku's body jerked violently. His instincts flared to life, and with the last shred of strength in his battered form, he opened his mouth...

And bit down hard on Frieza's tail.

"AAAAARGH!"

Frieza's scream of pain shattered his composure. His tail uncoiled reflexively, and Goku dropped to the ground in a crumpled heap, gasping for air. The Saiyan lay motionless, but still very much alive.

The tyrant staggered back, cradling his tail with fury. "You filthy… disgusting monkey!" he snarled, his voice wrought with rage.

As he meticulously approached the fallen Saiyan, he extended two fingers, a glowing red orb of energy forming at the tips. He crouched low, aiming the deadly beam directly at Goku's forehead.

"This is the end," he hissed, his tone dripping with malice. "Goodbye, Saiyan."

Before the blast could fire, Vegeta's boot slammed into Frieza's wrist, deflecting the energy into the sky. BOOOM! The resulting explosion lit up the battlefield, the shockwave shaking the ground beneath them. Frieza stumbled back, his eyes narrowing as he turned to face the prince.

Vegeta stood tall over Goku's battered form, his arms crossed and his expression smug. "Not so fast, Frieza," he said. "The real fight has yet to begin."

Frieza raised an eyebrow, his lip curling into a sneer. "Oh, Vegeta. Always so dramatic," he said mockingly. "Do you truly believe you can succeed where he failed?"

Vegeta's aura ignited in a brilliant yellow blaze, sparks of electricity crackling around him. The sheer force of his energy made the ground tremble, and the others watched in stunned silence.

"Yes indeed... because unlike him, I am the Super Saiyan!" the prince declared, his voice booming across the battlefield. His eyes began to dissipate into white as his power unleashed itself, and his aura surged higher, crackling with golden light. "The legend reborn! It's me, Frieza—not Kakarot!"

Sasuke's Rinnegan analyzed Vegeta's energy. "His power is… incredible," he admitted. "But it doesn't appear the same as Goku's form. Something's off."

Naruto squinted at the scene, his brow furrowed. "Is… is that it? Is he really the Super Saiyan?"

Hinata studied Vegeta's aura carefully, her heart sinking. "He's strong," she said hesitantly, "but… this isn't the same as Goku at all. It's not an actual transformation."

Ino, her voice in awe, added, "Then what is it? He's glowing yellow and everything!"

Lee crossed his arms, his brow furrowing. "Perhaps… this is a step toward the Super Saiyan transformation if it even exists. A precursor, maybe."

Frieza, however, was unimpressed.

"Oh, Vegeta," he said with a sigh. "How quaint. You've managed to unlock… something. But if you think this little light show is enough to challenge me, you're even more delusional than I thought."

Vegeta ignored him, his aura roaring like a wildfire as he took a step forward. The ground cracked beneath his feet, and his muscles coursed with power. "I'll wipe that smug grin off your face, Frieza," he growled. "Prepare yourself for the might of the Super Saiyan!"

Frieza tilted his head, a slow smile spreading across his face. "By all means," he said softly. "Show me."

As Vegeta's aura, which blazed with erratic yellow light and electric arcs, finally began to subside, his breathing steadied, and he sneered down at Goku's limp body lying at his feet. For a moment, the prince stood motionless, his chest swelling with pride as he soaked in the awe-struck silence of those watching.

And then, with a snort, Vegeta lifted his boot and punted Goku's body.

The Saiyan's form arced through the air like a broken doll, his limp body hurtling toward the group. A collective gasp erupted from the sidelines, but Lee was already in motion. With timing and grace, he leapt forward, catching Goku's body and landing lightly on his feet.

"Got him," Lee said, his voice low but steady. His eyes darted down to Goku's face, which was pale and smeared with blood. "He's still hanging on…"

"Good," Vegeta sneered as he turned his attention back to Frieza. "Let the weaklings handle their fallen champion. It's time for you to face death, Frieza."

Frieza's tail swished behind him like a coiled whip. "Oh, Vegeta," he purred mockingly. "You truly believe you're stronger than him? That you're stronger than me?"

Vegeta stepped forward, his boots grinding against the fractured ground. "I don't just believe it," he spat. "I know it. I've surpassed Kakarot in every way, and I'm just warming up, you clown. What you just witnessed was only the beginning of my power. If you had one of your stupid scouters here, you'd realize my true potential and you'd run like the coward you really are. No matter. A Saiyan loves a good fight. And you'll discover my powers soon enough. So let's stop talking and cut to the chase. This time, you're going down. What's the matter? Is your brain another one of your weak and underused muscles?"

Frieza only smirked in response. "Very well, you've had your fun, but I really do feel sorry for you now, because now you have to back up your delusional, pathetic taunts, Super Saiyan."

Vegeta gritted his teeth, clenching his fists tightly. Oh how badly he yearned to rip Frieza apart. "Shut up!"

"Forgive me for not trembling in fear, Super Saiyan."

As the two continued their verbal jawing, the group huddled around Goku. Lee carefully set him down, his eyes scanning Goku's form. His breathing was shallow, his body battered and bruised. The sight of the once-mighty Saiyan reduced to such a state made Lee's fists clench with anger.

Hinata knelt beside Goku, her trembling hands brushing the blood-matted hair away from his face. Her Tenseigan glowed faintly as she assessed his condition.

"He's very much alive," she whispered. "But in serious condition."

Naruto crouched beside her, his brow furrowed in frustration. "Damnit," he muttered. "He gave everything, and it still wasn't enough. What are we supposed to do now?"

"We need to think," Sasuke said sharply. "We can't just rush in like idiots. Frieza's toying with us, and Vegeta's arrogance isn't going to save him or anyone."

Naruto's eyes widened suddenly as an idea sparked in his mind. "Wait," he said, his voice rising. "The Senzu beans! Bulma probably has the last one! If we can get it to Goku, he'll recover!"

Sasuke glanced toward the horizon of the battlefield, in the direction of where Bulma and by extension the ship were stationed. "That's our only option," he said grimly. "But it's risky. Frieza won't let us move without interference."

Ino bit her lip, glancing at Lee. "If anyone can make it there in time, it's you," she said. "You're fast enough to get to Bulma and back before the rest of us."

Hinata's hands continued to stroke Goku's face, her voice barely audible. "Please… we have to resuscitate him fast," she said. "He's likely our only hope."

Lee nodded firmly. "I'll get the bean," he said, standing tall. "No matter what, I'll bring it back."

But as the Black Fist of Konoha prepared to take off, Frieza's sharp voice cut through the air like a blade.

"Oh no, you don't," the tyrant sneered, his eyes locking onto the green-clad warrior. "I can't have you scurrying off to save yourselves or your little monkey. I think it's time I eliminated some… distractions."

Frieza raised a single finger, a glowing orb of red energy forming at the tip, the sheer intensity of it freezing the group in place.

"LEE!" Naruto shouted, his voice filled with panic.

But before Frieza could unleash his deadly attack, Vegeta let out a guttural roar and charged forward. His aura flared brilliantly as he closed the distance between himself and Frieza in an instant, his fist crashing toward the tyrant with enough force to completely atomize a planet.

"Your fight is with me, Frieza!" he bellowed, his voice echoing across the battlefield.

Frieza pivoted effortlessly, dodging the blow with an amused smirk. "How noble," he mocked. "Protecting your little friends. How very un-Saiyan of you."

"Shut your mouth!" Vegeta snarled, unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks. His movements were swift and calculated, each strike aiming to overwhelm the tyrant.

But Frieza danced between them all, as if repeating history once more with frightening ease.

Meanwhile, Lee seized the opportunity. Without a word, he dashed toward Bulma's location, his speed a blur as he disappeared into the distance.

And as the group watched him go, their hearts pounded unceasingly with hope... and greater fear still.

Hinata remained beside her husband, her hands gently cradling his face. "Goku-kun…"

Goku's eyes fluttered open briefly, his gaze unfocused. His lips parted as if to speak, but no words came. His body was too weak to respond, but the faintest flicker of recognition passed through his expression.

"I wish I could go to sleep with you right now," Hinata half-joked, her voice cracking. "But you just had to leave me in this nightmare alone, didn't you…"

Sasuke's gaze remained fixed on the battle between Vegeta and Frieza, his mind racing. "We're running out of time," he muttered. "If Vegeta can't hold him off…"

"Lee will make it," Ino said, her voice quivering but resolute. "He has to."

Vegeta stood rigid, his aura crackling like a thunderstorm around him. The light or his ki danced across his skin, illuminating his defiant sneer as he stared down Frieza.

He was the Prince of Saiyans, a warrior born for battle.

This was his moment to fulfill his destiny—to prove that the legend of the Super Saiyan was no mere myth, but reality incarnate.

But beneath the bravado, a storm brewed.

A small voice of doubt clawed at the edges of his mind.

He couldn't let it show, couldn't let anyone see it—not Frieza, not the others, and certainly not himself.

Frieza stood a few paces away, his posture casual, his arms folded across his chest as if Vegeta were little more than an amusing sideshow. The tyrant's crimson eyes gleamed with an unsettling mix of curiosity and condescension, his smirk unshakable.

"Well, Vegeta," Frieza drawled. "Do you intend to stand there all day, or are you going to prove to me why you think you're worth my time?"

Vegeta's sneer deepened, his pride reasserting itself as he pushed the doubt aside. "I don't need to prove anything to you, Frieza," he spat. "You already know what I am. You're just too much of a coward to admit it."

Frieza chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Coward, you say? My, my… such big words from such a... insect."

With a guttural roar, Vegeta exploded forward, his aura flaring as he closed the distance in an instant. His fist rocketed toward Frieza's smug face, but the tyrant tilted his head slightly, letting the punch sail harmlessly past his cheek.

"Too slow," Frieza said smoothly.

Vegeta snarled, launching into a brutal melee. His punches came faster, harder, each one a testament to his years of enslavement and the brutality that defined him. He followed up with vicious kicks, spinning strikes, and precise jabs, each attack aimed to crush Frieza. He wanted to maim, to tear, to rip him to shreds. As the Super Saiyan, the legend that Frieza feared all along, he should be more than able—

But Frieza moved like liquid, his body flowing effortlessly around Vegeta's strikes.

Every punch missed by a fraction of an inch.

Every kick found only empty air.

The tyrant's smirk widened, his amusement growing with every failed attempt to touch him.

"Is that all you've got?" Frieza taunted, leaning back to avoid a particularly vicious uppercut. "I must say, I expected more from the almighty Prince of all Saiyans."

"Shut the hell up!" Vegeta roared, his voice cracking with fury. His aura spiked as he leapt back, raising both hands above his head. "Let's see you dodge this!"

A blinding surge of energy erupted from Vegeta's palms, a rapid-fire barrage of ki blasts that lit up the battlefield. The golden bolts streaked toward Frieza with terrifying speed, each one carrying enough power to level planets thousands of times over. The air sizzled with heat and electricity as the blasts rained down like a meteor shower.

BOOOM BOOOM KABOOOOM!

From the sidelines, the others shielded their eyes from the assault.

"What the hell?!" Naruto yelled, his voice barely audible over the storm. "He's going all out!"

Sasuke's Rinnegan flared, tracking every movement. "He's panicking," the Uchiha said grimly. "He knows he can't win with his raw strength alone, so he's attempting to overwhelm Frieza with volume."

Ino clutched her arms tightly, her heart pounding. "Is it working?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Hinata, her Tenseigan still active, shook her head. "No…" she whispered, her voice thick with despair. "He's… he's not landing a single hit."

In the eye of the hurricane, Frieza danced through the chaos with unnerving ease.

His smirk never wavered as he weaved between the golden projectiles, his movements almost playful.

One blast skimmed past his shoulder, another narrowly missed his tail, but none came genuinely close to hitting him.

Vegeta's heart pounded as he poured more juice into his attack, the air surrounding him crackling under the strain.

KABOOOM DOOOSH BABOOMBOOOMMM!

His teeth clenched as he pushed himself harder, faster, desperate to land even one hit.

"Why won't you just DIE?!" he bellowed, his voice raw with frustration.

The barrage continued, growing more erratic as Vegeta's fear and denial of reality began to seep even more into his attacks.

"Well, it looks like you're not that super of a Saiyan after all, huh?"

Frieza's voice, despite not changing in tone nor volume, was heard viscerally by the deluded prince despite his best attempts to drown out the cold, biting truth.

"I AM THE SUPER SAIYAN!"

The blasts came from every angle, a chaotic symphony of destruction that lit up the battlefield ever more. The air grew thick with smoke and ash, the ground trembling in fear under the vicious assault...

And then, silence.

Vegeta's breathing was ragged, his arms trembling as he lowered them. His aura flickered faintly, the toll of his relentless attack beginning to show.

The smoke slowly cleared, revealing the aftermath of his assault.

Hopefully―

In the blink of an eye, Frieza was directly in front of Vegeta, their faces inches apart.

Vegeta's blood ran cold. He stared at his greatest enemy, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing.

It wasn't possible.

It couldn't be possible.

The prince stumbled back instinctively, his composure cracking. His aura flared weakly, a reflexive attempt to mask the growing terror that gripped him.

"Vegeta, face it. To fight with me is futile and useless. Just wake up. You're blind and delusional."

The prince was rendered speechless, and thus Frieza continued.

"You keep going on about being a Super Saiyan, but it's just a myth Vegeta. I've never seen one, have you? You're such a chump. Such an ego. You really believe all that? A Super Saiyan? I must say, somebody has some high hopes."

Vegeta let out an involuntary cry, his pride shattering further with every second. He flew backward and vertically, putting distance between himself and the tyrant.

His mind raced, panic setting in. 'Oh no. What if he's right? What if I'm not a Super Saiyan? That would mean I don't stand a chance against Frieza. That would mean I'm pretty much... dead. Blast it, it can't be true.…'

From below, the others watched in stunned silence as Vegeta ascended.

"What's he doing?" Naruto asked, his voice tinged with fear. "Is he seriously about to—"

"He's going to destroy the planet," Sasuke said darkly. "He's desperate."

High above, Vegeta summoned every ounce of power he had left, a massive orb of purple energy forming between his hands. The sheer intensity of it made the atmosphere crackle, the air growing thin as the energy seemingly consumed everything around it.

"This is it, Frieza!" the prince bellowed with as much bravado as he could muster, his voice echoing across the battlefield. "I AM A SUPER SAIYAN! DIE!"

With a final scream, he hurled the unnamed Gallick Gun or Final Burst Cannon or Gallick Cannon or Gallick Burst or whatever people want to call it downward, the massive beam of energy tearing through the sky with unstoppable force. The ground trembled violently, the others bracing themselves as the blast approached.

But Frieza didn't flinch.

The tyrant raised one leg, his expression calm and amused.

As the Final Burst Cannon closed in, he lifted his foot...

And kicked the beam. With one kick.

With one freaking kick.

All of Vegeta's effort was dismissed... with a single kick.

The purple attack veered off course, spiraling harmlessly into space.

The battlefield fell silent, the shock of what had just happened sinking in.

KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The aftermath of the blasts detonation painted the entire planet in a dreadful, purple color. Frieza Planet 79 shook ferociously, to a much greater extent than any attack or collision prior to the explosion. The shockwaves leveled all weakened structures, and the others had to shield themselves from the harsh winds, the seismic forces compounding on and around them, and most importantly the blinding light that illuminated the surrounding star system of the exoplanet.

And in chilling yet poetic fashion, Vegeta hovered in the air as a black silhouette in the forefront of the calamitous background of his own doing, his arms hanging limp with a visibly paralyzed look of despair on display for all to see.

He was out of words.

Frieza chuckled, the sound cold and merciless. "Poor Vegeta," he said softly. "Did you really think that would work?"

Vegeta's expression showed something other than anger or arrogance.

It showed pure fear.

From below, the others watched in stunned silence, the realization sinking in.

"He's… broken," Sasuke muttered, his Rinnegan reflecting Vegeta's slumped form.

Naruto's fists shook violently at his sides, his blue eyes darting between Vegeta and Frieza. "Why doesn't he get up?" he muttered. "He was just—he was just powering up! What the hell happened?!"

"He's broken," the Uchiha repeated. "Frieza's even stronger than we imagined, stronger than Vegeta imagined. He doesn't see a way out."

"That can't be true!" Naruto snapped. "Vegeta's a Saiyan, just like Goku! He can't—"

"Shut up, dobe," Sasuke interrupted, his tone cold. "Look at him. He's done."

Ino stood nearby, her arms wrapped around herself as she tried to suppress the rising panic. "Maybe Vegeta still has a plan," she said, her voice strained. "He's still—"

"No," Hinata interrupted, her voice soft. "He's not fighting anymore. He's… he's finished."

The others fell silent, their fear and helplessness weighing heavier and heavier, threatening to reach all-consuming levels.

They all felt the urge to get in motion, to figure out a course of action on the fly.

But no one moved. And above it all, Frieza's laughter rang out, a chilling reminder of the nightmare that kept them in place.

Vegeta's shoulders trembled, his fists clenched tightly nigh to his thighs. He was trapped, both physically and emotionally, the weight of Frieza's existence bearing down on him like a burden too great to bear. Each second was a dagger to his soul, each step closer a reminder of the inevitable.

"I… I was supposed to win," the prince whispered, his voice barely audible. "This was supposed to be my moment."

His mind swirled with memories, flashes of his life under Frieza's rule blending with the torment of the present. He saw his father, standing tall and proud before the tyrant, only to kneel in submission moments later. He could imagine and visualize his home planet, destroyed in an instant by Frieza's hand. He saw himself, a child torn from everything he knew, forced to become a pawn in the service of his people's destroyer.

And then he saw his father's face, stern and resolute, speaking the words that had shaped Vegeta's entire existence:

"You are the Prince of all Saiyans. One day, my son, you shall rule the universe."

A bitter laugh escaped Vegeta's lips, the tears in his eyes beginning to well up. "Hah," he snorted, his voice thick with grief. "What a joke."

Frieza's laughter pulled him back to the present, the tyrant's voice dripping with cruelty. "Oh, Vegeta," he said mockingly. "Look at you. A sniveling, broken wretch. Is this how the mighty Prince of Saiyans ends his story? Brought to his knees, crying like a child?"

Vegeta's teeth clenched, his pride warring with his despair...

But his body refused to move, the weight of his failure paralyzing him.

Frieza stepped closer, his shadow falling over Vegeta like a shroud. "You Saiyans are all the same," he continued, his tone almost bored. "So full of bravado, so certain of your superiority. And yet, here you are, just like your father—groveling before me in your final moments."

The prince's breathing grew shallow, each word cutting deeper than the last.

"Do you want to know the truth, Vegeta?" Frieza asked, his voice softening to a chilling whisper. He crouched down, his crimson eyes locking onto Vegeta's tear-filled gaze. "You were never special. Not you, not your father, not your entire miserable race. You were nothing more than tools, pawns in my empire. And now… you're just another footnote in history."

Vegeta's head bowed lower, his tears dripping onto the cracked surface beneath him, each one a testament to his despair.

Frieza rose to his full height, his smirk widening. "Well, Vegeta," he said, spreading his arms. "Any last words before I end this charade?"

Vegeta's head lifted slowly, his tear-streaked face twisted with a mixture of rage and despair. He had no words.

The tyrant chuckled, shaking his head. "Oh, Vegeta," he said softly. "You poor, deluded fool."

With a flick, Frieza's tail lashed out, striking Vegeta across the face in such a disrespectful manner and sending him sprawling to the ground. The prince lay motionless, the flames within him utterly extinguished, his spirit more shattered than whatever Frieza planned to do to his body.

He was no Super Saiyan. He was nothing more than a broken warrior, moments away from his death at the hands of the one who drove his race into extinction.

He couldn't deny it any longer—he was going to die.

From the sidelines, the others watched in horror and disbelief.

Ino stood pale, her eyes wide with fear and something else—something deeper. "This is no longer a fight," she said quietly. "This is a massacre."

"Get up, Vegeta!" Naruto shouted, his voice tinged with desperation. "Don't just lie there!"

Frieza's laughter rang out. "Oh, don't worry," he called out, his gaze fixed on the group of onlookers. "Your beloved prince isn't done yet. Not until I say so."

With the nudging of Vegeta's chin up from the dirt with his right foot, he kicked his jaw with minimal effort, sending Vegeta hurtling backward, his body slamming into the ground with enough force to leave a nasty crater. Dust and debris billowed into the air, obscuring the prince from view.

The others flinched at the impact, the sound reverberating through the barren landscape like a death knell.

He shot into the air like a cannonball, his speed almost impossible to track.

In an instant, he was in front of Vegeta, his fist smashing into the Saiyan's jaw and sending him spiraling upward. Before Vegeta could recover, Frieza appeared above him again, delivering a brutal kick that sent him hurtling back toward the ground.

THOOOM!

The impact was devastating. The ground cracked and splintered beneath Vegeta's body, and yet another plume of dust and debris rose into the air.

Sasuke's gaze was cold, his mind racing as he assessed their options. "We need to retreat," he said finally. "Now."

Naruto rounded on him, his eyes blazing with anger. "What? We can't just run away!"

"If we stay, we die," Sasuke said bluntly. "I can open a portal with my space-time jutsu. We'll regroup with Bulma and come back when we're stronger."

"And leave Vegeta behind?!" Naruto shouted, his fists clenched. "We can't—"

"We don't have a choice!" Sasuke snapped. "Once Frieza kills Vegeta, we're next."

Frieza's voice interrupted their argument, his tone cold and mocking. "Feel free to jump in at any time, my little friends," he called out, his eyes glinting with malice.

The group froze, their fear palpable.

Naruto gritted his teeth, his hands trembling. "Damnit," he muttered. "Damnit!"

Frieza's tail coiled around Vegeta's neck, lifting the prince off the ground. He sneered at the Saiyan, delivering punch after punch after punch after punch after punch to his back. Each strike echoed across the battlefield, a brutal reminder of the tyrant's standing among everyone else.

He was the strongest in the universe... and it wasn't up for debate.

Absolutely demolishing the likes of Goku and Vegeta is as convincing of evidence as it got.

And as Vegeta hung limply in Frieza's grasp, the others could only watch, their hearts pounding with fear.

The Prince of all Saiyans had fallen, and the nightmare was still far from over.

The air inside the hub was thick, the cold metal walls humming with the distant vibrations of the ongoing "battle" outside. Rock Lee moved with singular purpose, his usually controlled composure replaced by an urgency that bordered on recklessness.

Every second counted. Every breath could be their last.

Ahead of him, Bulma stood amidst a chaotic sprawl of alien technology, her hands flying across a console as she interfaced with what remained of Frieza's systems. Nearby, Malaka, the only surviving member of Frieza's staff, hovered nervously, his eyes darting toward Lee as the martial artist stormed into the room.

Bulma didn't notice Lee at first, her attention focused on the comm device strapped to her wrist. Shikamaru's voice crackled through the speaker, his tone clipped and professional despite the grim report he delivered.

"Kumogakure has fallen," Shikamaru said, his voice barely masking the weight of the news. "Casualties are in the thousands. The Raikage, C, and Yugito Nii are confirmed dead. Neji and Tien didn't make it either."

Bulma froze for half a second, her eyes wide with horror. "Oh my God," she whispered. "Shikamaru, that's—"

"It gets worse," the Nara interrupted. "Kumogakure's destruction isn't an isolated incident. The Ginyu Force and the rest of Frieza's invading army have been wiped out, but the cost was staggering. Entire regions are in ruins. The survivors are being evacuated and treated, but it's going to take months—years—to recover from this."

Bulma pressed a hand to her forehead, the weight of the situation hitting her like a tidal wave. "And the other villages? The rest of the Earth?"

"Sunagakure, Iwagakure, and Konoha are mobilizing to send aid," Shikamaru replied. "But we're stretched thin, and morale is… fragile. The only silver lining is that Frieza's forces on Earth are gone, for now."

Lee's voice cut through the tension like a blade. "Bulma," he said sharply, his eyes blazing with urgency. "I need the senzu bean bag. Now."

Bulma turned to him, startled. "Lee? What are you—"

"There's no time to explain!" Lee snapped, uncharacteristically harsh. "Goku is down. Vegeta is about to die. Frieza is…" He hesitated, his jaw tightening. "Frieza is beyond anything I've ever seen. Beyond anything we've ever faced. If we don't get Goku that senzu bean, we're all dead."

Shikamaru's voice crackled back through the comm, his tone sharp with disbelief. "What do you mean, Goku is down? Son Goku?!"

Lee nodded grimly. "I never thought I'd see the day, but it's here. Goku gave it everything he had, and it wasn't even close. Frieza didn't just beat him. He humiliated him. If we don't get that senzu bean to him, all our victories—on Earth, here—they won't matter. Frieza will find us. And he'll kill us all."

Bulma paled, her hands gripping the edge of the console for support. "You're kidding," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Frieza… he's that strong?"

Malaka stepped forward cautiously, his hands raised in a gesture of submission. "If I may," he said nervously, his gaze darting between Lee and Bulma. "There are healing pods in the hub. We could—"

"No!" Lee cut him off, his voice like steel. "Even if they could help, there's no time. Frieza is out there right now. He'd kill us all before they had a chance to work. The senzu bean is our only hope."

Bulma took a shaky breath, nodding as she reached into her pocket. "Right," she said. "I've got the ship capsule here. If Goku and Hinata still have the beans, they'd be in their sleeping quarters. Let's move."

She pressed the button on the capsule, and with a soft POP, the ship expanded in the center of the room. The hatch hissed open, revealing the interior.

Lee didn't wait any longer. He shot into the ship, his movements a blur as he navigated the narrow corridors. His heart pounded in his chest, his mind racing.

'Come on, come on…'

He burst into Goku and Hinata's quarters, his eyes scanning the room frantically. The neatly arranged space betrayed no sign of the chaos outside. Lee tore through the belongings, his hands searching every nook and cranny. His fingers brushed against a familiar fabric, and he yanked open a small pouch.

Inside, a single green bean rested at the bottom.

"One," Lee muttered, his voice tinged with frustration. "There's only one left… Damnit!"

He clenched the pouch tightly, cursing under his breath. This was it. Their last hope.

Lee sprinted back toward the hatch, skidding to a stop in front of Bulma. "Found it," he said, holding up the pouch. "One left."

Bulma's eyes widened, but she nodded quickly. "It'll have to do," she said. "I'll keep the ship ready in case we need to make a fast exit. Go!"

Lee nodded, shooting out of the hub like a missile. The barren landscape blurred around him as he raced back toward the battlefield, the pouch clutched tightly in his hand.

Behind him, Bulma turned back to the console, her fingers flying across the keys. "Shikamaru," she said into the comm, her voice steady despite the tension. "Be ready for a worst-case scenario. If we die here, there's no telling what Frieza will do next."

"Understood," Shikamaru replied, his tone grim. "We'll do what we can. Good luck, Bulma."

Frieza tilted his head back, allowing a speck of Vegeta's blood to splatter across his cheek. He licked it off with slow, deliberate relish, savoring the taste like fine wine. His crimson eyes glinted with cruel amusement as he gazed down at his prey.

"Mmm, Vegeta," he purred, his voice like silk over venom. "You always did have a certain… flavor. A fitting delicacy for your last moments."

Vegeta's breathing was labored, each inhaling a gasp that rattled through his chest. He managed to lift his head slightly, his eyes bloodshot and defiant even now.

"Go… to hell," he rasped, his voice barely more than a whisper.

Frieza's grin widened. "Oh, Vegeta," he said mockingly. "Still clinging to that Saiyan pride of yours, even now? You really are the most fascinating little pet I've ever had. But don't worry, I'll make sure to put you down in a way befitting your… contributions to my empire."

Frieza's tail tightened around Vegeta's neck, squeezing with enough force to make the prince groan in agony.

"Do you remember Namek?" the Frost Demon continued, his tone conversational. "How you thought you'd outsmart me, hiding one of the Dragon Balls? Oh, what a delightful little game you played."

He leaned in closer, his smirk twisting into something darker. "Do you know what that cost me, Vegeta? Immortality. Perfection. Everything I desired, gone, because of you." His voice dropped to a venomous hiss. "I should thank you. Without that failure, I'd never have discovered how much more satisfying it is to crush my enemies with my bare hands."

Frieza's fist crashed into Vegeta's stomach harder than the strikes prior, driving the breath from his lungs and forcing a pained cry from his lips. The tyrant stepped back, letting Vegeta collapse to the ground in a heap. For a moment, it seemed he would simply leave him there, but then Frieza's foot came down hard on Vegeta's chest, pinning him to the cracked surface of the planet.

"You're pathetic," Frieza sneered, grinding his heel into Vegeta's rib-cage. "You were always such a disappointment, Vegeta. A spoiled brat fighting for relevance. And now, your story ends like this—alone, beaten, and forgotten."

From a distance, Naruto clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white. "Enough!" he hissed, his voice trembling with anger. "He's gonna kill him!"

Sasuke's Rinnegan glowed as he watched the scene unfold. "What do you suggest?" he asked coolly.

Hinata's Tenseigan burned with intensity as she scanned the battlefield, her hands trembling. "Even if we had a plan, what would it do?" she asked. "Goku couldn't stop him. Vegeta couldn't stop him. What chance would we have?"

Ino's breath hitched as she watched Frieza lift Vegeta by the collar of his armor, his right hand casually gripping the prince's battered form. "I can't just… I can't watch this," she said, her voice cracking. She looked at Naruto, desperation in her eyes. "We have to do something."

Naruto's eyes darted between the others, his frustration boiling over. "Fine!" he snapped. "If none of you are going to do anything, I will!"

Sasuke grabbed his arm before he could take a step forward. "Don't be an idiot, Naruto," he said sharply. "You'll just get yourself killed!"

"And what, we just let him die?!" Naruto shouted, shaking Sasuke's grip off. "Vegeta saved Ino's life, and he's fighting Frieza so we don't have to! If we don't help him, who's next? You? Me? Hinata?"

Sasuke's gaze hardened, but he didn't reply. He didn't need to. The truth was written on all their faces—they were out of their depth. Frieza wasn't just strong; he was a nightmare made flesh, a monster that no amount of planning or strategy could defeat.

Back on the battlefield, Frieza lifted Vegeta a bit higher, his grip tightening. "You know," he mused, "I considered sparing you. Making you my second-in-command now that my former subordinates have… vacated their positions. But the crimes you've committed against me, Vegeta… they're unforgivable."

He turned slightly, his gaze shifting toward the distant group of spectators. His smirk widened as he locked eyes with Hinata, Ino, Naruto, and Sasuke.

"Don't worry," he called out, his tone dripping with malice. "Everyone gets a turn."

Naruto's blood ran cold. "That's it," he muttered, his hands forming the familiar cross-seal. "If no one else will fight, then I'll—"

"Naruto, stop!" Ino cried, her voice filled with fear. "You'll—"

But before she could finish, Frieza turned back to Vegeta, his left hand positioned in front of the prince's chest. His voice was calm, almost gentle, as he spoke.

"Goodnight, sweet prince."

He plunged his hand forward―

Naruto's heart pounded in his chest as Sasuke's Amenotejikara swapped Vegeta's body with his own. He stood face-to-face with Frieza for a single, nerve-wracking heartbeat. His blue eyes, filled with the raw intensity of Six Paths Sage Mode, locked with Frieza's crimson gaze.

It was like staring at death in the face... luckily Naruto had diversionary methods.

"Tajuu Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" the Uzumaki shouted.

Without hesitation, he summoned a tidal wave of clones—ten thousand Naruto's, each radiating an aura of unshakable determination and overwhelming power. They surrounded Frieza from every angle, their energy roaring like a wildfire that consumed the barren landscape.

Frieza's eyes flickered with mild amusement. "So many of you?" he mused, tilting his head. "How cute. But I'm afraid a million ants are nothing to a dinosaur."

Naruto clenched his fists, his real body at the center of the clone army. "Let's see if you can handle this!" he shouted, his voice carrying across the battlefield.

The clones attacked in unison, a relentless barrage of energy. Odama Rasengan tore through the air, massive spheres of pure power aimed with precision. Fūton: Rasenshuriken screeched as they spun toward Frieza, their edges crackling with destructive wind chakra. Some clones unleashed Senpō: Rasenshuriken, their attacks infused with the natural energy of Sage Mode, while others hurled Bijūdama, their tails formed from the raw power of Kurama's chakra.

The sky above lit up with an orchestra of destruction. Rasengan collided with the rocky surface of the planet, leaving craters in their wake. Rasenshuriken detonated mid-air, their blasts sending shockwaves that rattled even the distant hub. The ground trembled under the onslaught, fractures spreading like veins through the rock.

Frieza still didn't move.

His tail swished lazily behind him as he stood in the middle of the storm, his aura glowing faintly. Clones closed in from all directions, their strikes synchronized to create an inescapable web of attacks. But Frieza sidestepped, ducked, and spun through the chaos with the ease of a dancer weaving through raindrops.

A Chōōdama Rasengan barreled toward him, larger than any of the others. Frieza raised a single finger and fired a thin, crimson beam. The attack pierced the center of the large spiralling sphere, causing it to implode in a burst of harmless energy.

Naruto's brow furrowed as he pushed his clones harder. The air filled with the hum of chakra and the screech of wind techniques as the onslaught intensified.

But no matter how many attacks were unleashed, no matter how perfectly timed they were, Frieza avoided them all with infuriating ease.

One of the clones managed to close the gap, its Rasengan poised to strike Frieza's chest. But before it could connect, Frieza's tail lashed out, smacking the clone and crushing it into nothingness.

"How tedious," the tyrant sighed.

Naruto's real body shot forward, his hands blazing with the power of his strongest attack. "You're not getting out of this one! Rikudō: Rasenshuriken!" he roared, hurling the attack with all his might.

The glowing disc of energy tore through the battlefield, its edges spinning so fast they blurred into a single, brilliant line. It closed the distance to Frieza in an instant.

Frieza smirked. With a casual flick of his wrist, he unleashed a pulse of energy that deflected the attack into the sky. The Six Paths Rasenshuriken spiraled upward similarly to Vegeta's Final Burst Cannon, detonating harmlessly in the void of space.

The blast's shockwave wiped out every remaining clone, leaving Naruto alone, panting heavily as he struggled to catch his breath. His chest rose and fell with exertion, sweat dripping down his face.

Frieza yawned, tapping his chin with a finger. "Are we done yet?" he asked, his tone almost bored. "I have greater matters to attend to, you know."

Naruto's knees nearly buckled, but he forced himself to stand tall. "No," he muttered. "Not yet."

From the sidelines, Ino watched in even greater horror than before. Her fists clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms. "This... this is way above our pay grade," she said, her voice trembling. "All of that… and it didn't even faze him."

Hinata knelt beside Goku's prone form, her Tenseigan chakra erecting a barrier to shield them both from debris. "Naruto's doing everything he can," she said, her voice steady despite the fear in her eyes. "But Frieza—"

You know what? Frieza this, Frieza that.

To hell with Frieza.

"Fuck that bastard," Ino cut her off, stepping forward. Her eyes burned with rage... as if her flight or fight had been triggered. "If Naruto's out there laying it all on the line, I might as well jump in too."

Before anyone could stop her, the Yamanaka pressed her fingers to her temples and unleashed her most potent psychic attack. Her consciousness surged forward, crashing into Frieza's mind with all the force she could muster.

Frieza paused, his body stiffening as Ino's assault took hold.

His expression faltered for the first time, his eyes narrowing in annoyance.

"What's this?" he muttered, clutching his head. "A little mind game?"

Ino's body trembled with the effort, sweat pouring down her face as she pushed harder. Her mental attack somewhat successfully tore through Frieza's thoughts, creating a storm of confusion and disarray.

"You're not invincible!" she shouted, her voice filled with defiance. "I'll show you what it feels like to be powerless!"

For a moment, Frieza's aura flickered, his movements sluggish...

But then his smirk returned, and he let out a low chuckle. "Impressive," he admitted. "You've actually managed to irritate me."

With a surge of power, Frieza broke free of Ino's hold, his aura flaring violently. He turned to face her, his eyes gleaming with malice. "But you've overplayed your hand, little girl," he said, his tone cold. "Let me show you why you shouldn't meddle in matters beyond your comprehension."

Ino collapsed to one knee. Her breaths came in ragged gasps, her forehead slick with sweat as she struggled to steady herself. Her psychic assault had pushed Frieza, perhaps further than anyone expected, but it hadn't been enough. Not nearly enough.

Frieza stood taller than his actual height, his gleaming form untouched by the chaos surrounding him. His eyes settled on Ino with the predatory amusement of a cat toying with a wounded bird.

"You've got spirit, I'll give you that," he said, his voice smooth. "But that little trick of yours? You will never use it again."

He took a step forward, his tail swaying lazily behind him. "Perhaps it's time I put you out of your misery."

From his battered position on the ground, Vegeta's lips curled into a bitter snarl. Blood dripped from his chin as he struggled to lift his head, glaring at the others with a mix of frustration and pity. "You… idiots," he spat, his voice hoarse. "You should have left me. Used my worthless hide as a distraction... and run while... while you had the chance."

Naruto turned to him, his fists clenched at his sides. "We don't leave people behind!" he shouted, his voice emotional. "Not even you, Vegeta!"

Vegeta let out a ragged laugh, each chuckle punctuated by a pained cough. "Kakarot's ideals… infecting all of you. His damned foolishness has doomed us all. Now we're all going to die here, like the worthless fools we are."

Frieza tilted his head, his smirk widening. "Oh, don't be so melodramatic, Vegeta," he said, his tone mocking. "You've lived a short, pathetic life of servitude and failure. Isn't it fitting that it should end here, under my heel?"

Before anyone could react, Frieza's finger snapped forward, a deadly beam of energy slicing through the air.

It shot straight toward Sasuke, its lethal intent unmistakable.

But Sasuke's Rinnegan flared to life, his body flickering out of existence just as the beam struck. A piece of rubble exploded in his place, the debris raining down harmlessly as a grimy mist.

Frieza's smile twisted into a sneer. "Your little tricks are starting to annoy me," he said.

Sasuke reappeared a short distance away, his breaths heavy and labored. Sweat dripped from his brow, and the faint glow of his Rinnegan was dimming with every passing second. He had pushed his body and chakra reserves to their absolute limits. The strain of his Amenotejikara weighed on him like a lead cloak, loathe he was to admit it.

"We can't keep this up," Sasuke muttered, his voice tight with frustration. "We need to get out of here. Now."

Naruto glanced at Sasuke, his jaw tight. "And go where? He'll just find us again!"

"Anywhere but here," Sasuke snapped, his gaze locking onto Naruto. "If we stay, we die."

Hinata looked up at Sasuke in agreement. "Sasuke's right," she said firmly. "We need to regroup and come up with another plan."

Ino staggered to her feet, her legs trembling beneath her. "We can't run forever," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But… if we can just buy a little time…"

Sasuke, upon seeing an increasingly murderous Frieza slowly approach them, clenched his fists, his body screaming in protest as he summoned the last vestiges of his chakra. His Rinnegan flared once more, and with a flicker of energy, the entire group disappeared.

Gone.

The Away Team reappeared several kilometers away, the barren landscape stretching endlessly around them. The air was eerily still, as if holding its breath in anticipation of Frieza's inevitable pursuit. Sasuke collapsed to one knee, his breathing ragged as his chakra reserves finally gave out.

"Damnit," he muttered, his voice filled with frustration. "That's as far as I could take us."

Naruto looked around, his fists clenched. "This isn't far enough," he said through gritted teeth. "He's gonna find us any second now."

Hinata knelt beside Goku, her hands glowing with chakra as she worked to stabilize him despite knowing she was nowhere near the healer or medic that Sakura was. "We'll figure something out," she said, her voice betraying steadiness despite the fear in her eyes. "We have to."

Vegeta, still lying on the ground, let out a bitter laugh. "Welcome to reality," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You're finally beginning... to understand what I've known all along... Frieza is invincible."

Naruto spun toward him, his eyes blazing. "Shut up with that!" he shouted. "We're not giving up! Not now, not ever!"

"Your optimism is pathetic," Vegeta spat, his voice filled with disdain. "Face it, fools. You're already dead."

"Both of you shut up," Sasuke said, interrupting the dialogue. "We don't need to bring ourselves unwanted attention."

The skies above Frieza Planet 79 immediately turned into a kaleidoscope of destruction as Frieza unleashed his wrath. Beams of violet energy lanced across the barren expanse, detonating into massive fireballs that carved deep craters into the planet's surface. Pillars of smoke and ash shot upward, painting the transparent atmosphere with streaks of black.

Frieza hovered mid-air, his body pulsating with rage.

"You think you can hide from me?!" His voice boomed across the desolate landscape, laced with venom and frustration. "You miserable little insects! I am Frieza—the Supreme Emperor of the Universe! Do you truly believe you can evade my grasp?"

With a flick of his wrist, Frieza fired another volley of energy blasts into the horizon, obliterating a distant ridge. The resulting shockwave rippled across the surface, shaking even the distant hub. He sneered, his lip curling as his crimson eyes scanned the terrain below.

"Enough games!" he snarled. "If you won't show yourselves, I'll reduce this wretched rock to stardust!"

Hidden behind a jagged outcrop, the group huddled in grim silence. Each explosion in the distance sent tremors through the ground, the vibrations rattling their bones. The fear in the air was palpable, their breaths shallow as they tried to remain as quiet as possible.

"He's going to find us," Naruto muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. "We're almost outta time."

Sasuke, slumped against the rock, his Rinnegan flickering faintly, nodded grimly. "It's not a matter of if," he said. "It's when."

Hinata kept her hands glowing softly, channeling more and more chakra to stabilize Goku as much as she could. Her gaze flicked to the horizon, where the eruptions of light and sound grew closer with each passing second. "Even if we keep running," she said, her voice heavy. "He'll destroy everything until there's nowhere left to hide."

Ino leaned against the rock, her eyes half-closed as she struggled to recover from her previous psychic assault on Frieza, which had drained her to the brink. "I can… reach Lee," she said, her voice hoarse. "But I need a moment. Just a moment to gather myself."

Vegeta let out a bitter laugh from where he lay on the ground. "Moments," he sneered. "That's all you have left. Frieza will find us, and when he does, he'll kill every last one of you. You should've listened to me. Used me as a distraction and saved yourselves."

Hinata glanced at Naruto, her expression uncertain. "So when Frieza finds us, what do we do?" she asked softly. "Lee might not make it in time."

Naruto didn't respond, and instead he dropped into a meditative stance, his hands forming a seal as he focused inward. The chaotic noise of Frieza's inevitability faded into the background as he reached out to the depths of his mind, calling for the presence that had been with him his entire life...

"Kurama," he whispered.

Within the confines of his consciousness, Naruto found himself standing before the massive form of the Nine-Tailed Fox. Kurama's glowing red eyes opened slowly, fixing Naruto with a steady gaze.

"About time," Kurama rumbled, his voice deep and resonant. "I was wondering when you'd stop flailing around out there."

Naruto crossed his arms, his expression resolute. "We're out of options," he said. "Frieza's too strong. If we don't come up with something now, it's over."

Kurama's lips curled into a slight smirk. "So you've finally realized that usual tactics won't work. Took you long enough."

"Look, I didn't come here for a lecture," Naruto snapped. "I need your help. There's gotta be something we can do."

Kurama's gaze softened slightly, though his tone remained gruff. "You're not wrong. This Friezahe's unlike anything we've faced before. His power is overwhelming, but more than that, his cruelty knows no bounds. You're fighting a monster, Naruto. One that won't stop until you're all dead."

Naruto's fists clenched. "Then help me beat him," he said. "There has to be a way."

Kurama regarded him for a moment, his eyes narrowing in thought. "There might be," he said finally. "But it's dangerous. And it'll take everything you've got—and more."

"I don't care," Naruto said firmly. "Whatever it takes, I'll do it."

Kurama let out a low growl, a sound that rumbled through the confines of Naruto's mind. "Then listen closely," he said. "Because this might be your only chance."

Outside of Naruto's meditation, the group watched him in tense silence.

From her position next to him, Hinata watched with a gaze filled with worry and hope. "What is he doing?" she asked quietly.

Sasuke's eyes flickered with a faint glow as he observed Naruto's chakra flow. "He's reaching out to the Kyūbi," he said. "Trying to find a solution."

Vegeta let out a derisive snort. "A solution?" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Do you honestly think that weakling inside him will be able to save you? Don't make me laugh."

Ino shot Vegeta a glare, her voice firm despite her exhaustion. "Do you have a better idea, Your Highness?" she snapped. "Because unless you can magically heal yourself and take down Frieza, I suggest you keep quiet."

Vegeta's lips curled into a sneer, but he said nothing.

BOOOOOOM! BOOOOOOOM!

In the distance, another explosion rocked the landscape, the ground trembling beneath them. Frieza's voice echoed once more, filled with impatience and malice.

"You can't hide forever!" he bellowed from an unknown distance. "I'll burn this entire planet to ash!"

The group exchanged uneasy glances, the weight of their situation pressing down on them like a suffocating fog. Every second felt like an eternity, the threat of Frieza's wrath looming ever closer.

"Is this the best you can do?" Frieza sneered from the sky, his laughter sharp and cutting. "Cowards, hiding in the shadows! Do you really think I can't sniff you out?"

In the midst of it all, Naruto sat cross-legged in the middle of the group, his eyes shut in deep meditation. His body was eerily still, even as the others watched the horizon in grim anticipation of Frieza's inevitable approach.

"Naruto," Hinata whispered, her voice trembling. "Whatever you're planning... we don't have time—"

Sasuke raised a hand to silence her. "Let him focus," he said, his voice full of pure respect. "If anyone can pull a miracle out of thin air, it's him."

Naruto's body remained still, his expression serene as he delved deeper into his connection with Kurama.

Whatever he was up to, it was their last hope.

"Naruto," Kurama rumbled, his voice low and resonant. "You're really prepared to die, aren't you?"

Naruto looked up at him, his gaze steady despite the weight of the question. "Yeah," he said quietly. "I'm sorry, Kurama. I really am."

Kurama let out a low growl, his tails twitching behind him. "In that case," he said slowly, "there might be a way."

Naruto's eyes widened, a flicker of hope breaking through the grimness on his face. "Really?!" he asked, his voice tinged with desperation.

Kurama's gaze hardened even more. "It's a do or die, last stand, final secret weapon sort of thing," he said. "Rather than getting killed disgracefully, it's worth giving a try."

"What—?" Naruto stammered, his heart pounding. "If you had something like this, why didn't you say so sooner?"

"Because," Kurama growled, his tone grave, "you'll die. Do this, and it's over. But if you don't do it, you'll die anyway. Even so, it's not a choice to be made lightly. So, you decide."

Naruto's fists clenched at his sides. His mind raced as he thought of everyone—Sakura, Ino, Hinata, Sasuke, Goku, Bulma, even Vegeta. The people on Earth.

His friends, his family, the people who had become his world.

He closed his eyes, drawing in a deep breath. When he looked up at Kurama again, his gaze was unwavering.

"Kurama," he said, his voice steady, "I'm counting on you."

Kurama's expression softened, a flicker of something like pride passing through his eyes. "Are you sure?" he asked. "There's no turning back from this, Naruto."

Naruto nodded, a small, bittersweet smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Yeah," he said. "I've been preparing for this for a long time. Ever since I decided I wanted to be the Hokage!"

Kurama let out a low rumble, a sound that was equal parts approval and sorrow. "Then let's do it," he said. "One last dance."

Naruto opened his eyes, the world snapping back into focus around him. His expression was calm, almost serene, but there was something in his gaze—a heaviness, a finality—that sent a chill through the others.

Sasuke's eyes narrowed. "What did you decide?" he asked, though the answer was already written across Naruto's face.

Naruto stood, brushing the dirt off his pants. He turned to Sasuke, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Keep everyone safe," he said simply. "That's all I want you to do."

Sasuke stiffened, his jaw tightening. "Naruto—"

"Please," Naruto interrupted, his voice quiet but firm. "You've always been the one I could count on the most. Don't let me down now."

He turned to Vegeta, who lay battered on the ground. The Saiyan prince glared up at him, his expression one of confusion and disdain.

"Thank you," Naruto said, his tone genuine. "You kept us alive. That's more than enough."

Vegeta scoffed, his lip curling. "You're a fool... if you think it amounted to anything," he muttered. "But suit yourself."

Naruto's gaze softened as he turned to Hinata. She looked up at him, her eyes shimmering with tears she refused to shed. "Hinata," he said, his voice gentle. "You've always been the strongest fighter I know. Goku's super lucky to have you."

Hinata's lips trembled. "Naruto, please," she whispered. "There has to be another way—"

"There isn't," Naruto said, his voice firm but kind. "Just keep being the fighter you are. No matter what."

Finally, Naruto's eyes landed on Ino. She stood frozen, her hands trembling at her sides. He stepped closer to her, his expression softening further.

"Ino," he said quietly. "I—"

Before he could finish, Ino threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his torso in a fierce hug.

Naruto stiffened in surprise, but then his arms came up, returning the embrace.

"Ino-chan," he murmured, his voice heavy with emotion.

"Naruto-kun," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Don't do this. Please."

Naruto closed his eyes, his hand gently brushing against her back. "How can I ever be Hokage," he began softly, "if I can't lay down my life for the people I love?"

Ino's breath hitched, and before she could stop herself, she pressed her lips to his. It was a desperate, impulsive act, fueled by fear and sorrow. Naruto froze for a moment, then kissed her back in order to assuage her anguish, their shared pain and affection colliding in that fleeting moment.

When they broke apart, Naruto's eyes were filled with unspoken gratitude. He stepped back, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer before he turned away.

That was the last kiss they would likely ever share.

And they both knew it.

Naruto took a few steps forward, his back to the group. His body began to glow, not with the familiar yellow hue of his Six Paths Sage Mode...

But with a deep, pulsating red. The light grew brighter, casting long shadows across the barren landscape.

The others watched in stunned silence, the weight of what was happening sinking in. Hinata was wrought with anticipation, her heart pounding in her chest. Sasuke stared onward as he tried to process what he was seeing. Ino pressed a trembling hand to her lips, tears streaming down her face.

As the crimson light intensified, Naruto turned his head slightly, a faint smile on his lips.

It was somber, cryptic, and utterly heart-wrenching.

And then, without another word, he stepped forward, the red glow consuming him as he walked toward the horizon to face their greatest enemy to date.
