A/N: Runt of the Litter chapter teaser ahoy~!
Its rough, and not finished, but I wanted to prove that I'm still very much working on it.
Second, I'm thinking about taking an extended hiatus from writing in general. Life's been rough lately. Feedback's dipped, the world has gone mad, and writing isn't as fun as it used to be. The latest chapter of Claws of a Lion was one such example-not a lot of feedback there-and now the utter lack of response here...
...I just don't know anymore. T_T
I shouldn't have to beg for reviews and I...am...tired...
Needed to get this out of my system because it was in my HEAD and threatening to become its own story. So I turned it into a scene instead. You all know where this hails from. I own nothing.
As ever, I own no quotes, references, themes or memes. Not a wit or one. They're tributes, one and all.
I'm just a humble author trying to make his way in this wild world, one word at a time.
Time and feedback will determine if this should become a story. Simple as that.
In other words...everything is up to YOU, the reader. Do let me know~!
Consider this a teaser for an upcoming chapter.
"Dodge this next attack if you can!"
~?
Runt of the Litter (Teaser)
"You've ruined everything!" Miquella gasped as the boot pressed down against his skull.
Godrick turned a baleful eye upon him. "I only finished what you started."
He turned a baleful glare on his kin, wretched and unable to do anything else but curse him in his final moments. "After everything you've said and done...how will you sleep at night?
Here at last his nephew progeny crouched down before her, his anger melting away, whiskered cheeks dimpling in a satisfied smirk. "Next to your sister."
Miquella bridled. "You wretched CREATURE-
A fist slammed into his skull.
He knew no more.
"Godrick!" Radahn's voice boomed down from on high, body crackling with gravity magic. "Dodge this next attack if you can! But even if I miss, Caelid is going up in SMOKE!"
"That's not fair!"
All is fair in love and war, my nephew!
He planted his feet and spread his arms wide to embrace the falling star that was his kin. Come!
Radahn barreled into him like…well, a falling star.
He caught…something. He wasn't sure if it was a fist or a blade or the madman tackling him outright but whatever it was, he felt it.
His world went white for a moment then black now red. Reality reasserted itself and he realized where he was.
Radahn strained against him to no avail: You stopped me. How?!
Frankly I'm just as surprised as you are. However!
He drove a punishing uppercut into the good general's chin, a rousing roundhouse that snapped his head to one side and finally a gut punch that knocked him clean off his mount. Leonard whinied fretfully and flailed at him with frail hooves. He respected the small steed resolve. A quick incant undr his breath bound the horse to the ground in a web of golden chains.
Leonard!
Radahn was upon him.
He was stronger than Malenia. Much stronger.
He felt it as the breath burst from his lungs and his body folded around the larger man's fist. Well done. That's what I get for holding back.
His uncle scoffed. A poor jest nephew. Not at all. He got ahold of his first and held right. Release restrains one through three.
Release restrains one through three.
A chill shot down Radahn's spine when he heard those words.
In hindsight he couldn't say rightly what it was that clued him into into his impending doom.
Such an innocuous remark, a seemingly innocent declaration.
And yet.
He jerked to the right, twisting his body in a vain attempt to cut some small manner of distance between them.
It saved his life.
Godrick's golden ax came whistling in, barely blocked.
The warriors grinned at one another.
Battle was joined.
A/N: Obvious tributes are obvious and I own nothiiiing~!
I'll let you guess whether this scene itself was meant for By the Flame, Runt of the Litter, or something else. Would you like this to see this scene fully realized? Do let me know~!
No previews this time. I'm exhausted. Aaaand there we go. As ever, reviews keep me alive. Without them, I cannot write.
So...in the Immortal Words of Atlas...Review...Would You Kindly? It would mean the world to me.
Hope you enjoyed this, and may your day be filled with lots of luck!
Warm regards,
~Nz.
