Hello Everyone. Sorry for the long wait. Here is chapter 5. I hope you will enjoy it. :)
After spending most of the day playing with the kids alongside Bonnie and Stu, Josh is now sitting with Judy on his bedroom floor. They are surrounded by all his belongings, which includes his own Grey Fedora hat and his personal carrot pen as he notices his niece looking at it in awe. He chuckles at the sight of her facial expression, until he tells her to close her eyes which causes Judy to follow his instruction before he quietly puts a blanket down over his two belongings.
He sneakily removes one of the items from under the blanket, before he tells Judy to reopen her eyes for her test. When she does reopen her eyes at last, Judy takes the time to look at the blanket until she briefly looks at Josh to silently ask him to remove the blanket. When he does fully remove the blanket away, he watches his niece make a very quick decision on the fact the missing item is his carrot pen because she can see his Fedora hat is the only item present.
Josh nods his head with a smile as he begins to make it harder, which now involves three items with two missing. The items are his personal H.P.I.A dairy, which he uses to solve cases along with keeping a personal record of them in order to avoid forgetting those cases. The second item is a photo of him and Judy, it displays the latter sitting on her uncle Josh's shoulders and holding his face for balance as they look at each other with loving tender smiles.
"Ok, I can see your Fedora hat once again, Uncle Josh" Judy said, she looks closely at the missing items. "Which means, your diary and photo of us is missing, correct?"
"That is correct indeed, Judy, you're getting good at it" Josh said, smiling at his niece's detective skills. "Plus you've just completed your first lesson, you remember it?"
"Of course, I should look for missing evidence always" Judy said, she recites the lesson's meaning. "Especially when that very evidence, shouldn't really be missing at all."
Josh smiles at his niece remembering the lesson's meaning, before they decide to move onto a different lesson. He was about to choose the next lesson, when his Z-phone rings in his left trouser pocket as he takes the object out in order to discover who is calling him. He takes a good look at the name on-screen, before he tells Judy to go play with all of her siblings while he takes the call on his phone with Judy nodding in understanding as she leaves him.
After watching his niece leave until she is finally out of sight, Josh finally answers the call ringing on his Z-Phone. He gently presses the green video button, which causes him to see the vertical screen of a female European Rabbit with Grey fur and a slender built figure. She has Purple eyes like Judy and Bonnie, her ears are tall and attentive while she is wearing a black cyclone dress covered by a dark brown fur coat as she smiles at the sight of Josh Hopps.
"Hello Lynn, it's good to see you old friend, are you ok?" Josh asked, smiling at the sight of his friend. "It's been a long while, since I have last heard from you."
"I can definitely say the same thing about you, Josh" Lynn said, while her smile slowly grows in size. "But I'm ok, thank you for asking, I'm getting ready for a ball."
"A ball?, oh I see, Mrs Bunnicula-Clover is taking you" Josh said, taking the time to have a small joke. "But on a more serious note, how is Mrs Bunnicula-Clover doing?"
"Veronica is doing fine, she's busy getting ready too" Lynn said, sighing in content at her wife's name. "It's our wedding anniversary, so I decided to take her dancing."
Josh nods in understanding at what his friend is telling him, all the while seeing three kids playing behind Lynn. The older one resembling Lynn closely, the second being a young male bunny with brown eyes and the third resembling Lynn's wife closely especially facially. Lynn's wife also appears in the background, who is also a female European rabbit with Grey fur and a chubby build along with green eyes wearing a White Bandage Dress as she appears on-screen herself.
"Honey, we need to be ready in five minutes, okay?" Veronica said, wrapping her paws around Lynn's waist. "We can't put this off, we've planned this for a long while."
"Don't you mean, 'I' have planned this for a while?" Lynn asked, jokingly before kissing her wife on the lips. "Plus, I'm just talking to our friend, Josh Hopps, here."
Veronica turns her attention to the screen to see Josh himself, which causes her to smile brightly at her friend. The two bunnies share a wave, before they continue their talks until it was time for the two to get off to attend the ball with Veronica leaving the group chat first. She kisses her wife tenderly on the left cheek, until she goes to arrange for a babysitter to come babysit their kids while they are busy having fun at the ball until they can make their return back to them.
"Lynn, sweetie, we need to go or we will be late" Veronica said, holding her Z-phone next to her left ear. "Tell Josh, it was nice seeing him again, we'll talk again soon."
"I'll tell him, honey, though I'm sure he heard you" Lynn said, looking at Veronica until she faces Josh. "I'm sure you heard her, but I will have to get going now, Josh."
"That's okay, Lynn, I hope you two have a good time" Josh said, smiling at both of the Bunnicula-Clovers. "Also, give your kids my love, it's nice to see them again too."
"I will, bye Josh" Lynn said, smiling and waving at her friend.
"Bye Lynn" Josh said, reciprocating the kind gestures and actions.
After his call with Lynn comes to an end five seconds later, Josh smiles briefly before putting his Z-Phone away. He goes off to find Judy again, knowing he will find her playing with her siblings as he knows he had told her to play with her siblings before he answered Lynn's call. He eventually does find his niece again, though he decides to give her a break from her basic training as he watches the children play together while his father-in-law enters the lounge.
"I take it, you have been giving our Judy training" Pop-Pop said, the elderly bunny looks at Josh intriguingly. "Police work is dangerous, especially for bunnies."
"Maybe, but it's Judy's dream and I support her" Josh said, nodding his head in response to what he's hearing. "But yes, I have been giving her early training."
"That's good to hear, it will help our Judy a lot" Pop-Pop said, accepting what his son-in-law is telling him. "Besides if anyone can help you, it's definitely you."
"Thanks sir, I'm glad to hear that you approve" Josh said, turning his head to face Pop-Pop before smiling. "If anything, I'll be protecting Judy, no matter what."
"I don't doubt that, even for one single second" Pop-Pop said, returning the smile before becoming concerned. "But please protect yourself, she needs you, kid."
Josh nods his head in understanding to what he's hearing, especially the fact he does need to protect himself. He knows his niece needs him, which is all the more reason why he needs to take good care of himself and be careful on his adventures in his Private Investigator job. He had faced many threats in the job, though he has always found ways to come out on top against his enemies and defeat them in order to protect the lives of innocence such as the kids.
He leans against the door to the lounge as he watches Judy, knowing she is having the time of her life playing. He continues to watch her in joy, until he decides to go outside the house to get some air in order to clear his head with the knowledge of what his father-in-law had given him. When he is finally outside the house, he takes a deep breath in before it comes back out through his mouth as he looks at the horizon while his older brother Stu comes out to check on him.
"Hey Josh, you ok? I haven't seen you like this" Stu said, appearing next to his younger brother in worry. "Especially in a long while, since we were kits once."
"Hey Stu, I'm ok, thanks for checking up on me" Josh said, briefly facing Stu with a smile before turning away. "I just needed some air, but I'll be back inside."
"I agree, but I also want to talk to you, brother" Stu said, taking a deep breath himself before speaking again. "It's about Judy actually, you think she can do it."
"Become a Police Officer? Yes, Yes I definitely do" Josh said, smiling at thought of Judy getting her dream job. "Not only do I think it, I believe it, always will do."
"That's great, but I'm just concerned about it all" Stu said, worry exposing itself more through Stu's own voice. "It's just that, I don't want to see her get hurt."
"Neither do I, that's why she will need us both" Josh said, turning to face Stu before patting him on the shoulder. "Should she need help, we'll be there for her."
Stu nods his head in agreement to what he is hearing, before he and Josh share a brotherly hug together. It lasts for one whole minute, until they finally release each other as they begin to make their way back inside the Hopps Family House in order to reunite with their family. After making their way back inside, they are greeted by Judy who along with her siblings hug their father and uncle as Bonnie and Pop-Pop also quickly join in on the action themselves.
After they all share the hug together for one minute, the whole family release each other from their hug. Everyone eventually disperse, though it wasn't long until Josh Hopp's Z-Phone starts ringing again as he takes it out of his trouser pocket before looking at the familiar name. He presses the answer phone button, before he puts the whole phone to his left ear to listen to what the voice on the other end of the phone has to tell him about the reason for the call.
"Hello Josh, I hope I'm not interrupting you" Lynn said, her voice laced with both tiredness as well as happiness. "Veronica is getting drinks, so I'll make it quick."
"Hello Lynn, it's good to hear you once again" Josh said, smiling at the sound of his friend's voice on the other end. "You're not interrupting anything, how's the ball?"
"It was good, thank you, we are enjoying it" Lynn said, laughing briefly before sighing in pure happy contentment. "We've had a dance earlier, my wife's a natural."
"I agree there, we've seen her dance before" Josh said, chuckling a bit until he quickly gets down to his question. "How is Veronica doing? Apart from the drinks."
"She's fine, thank you, she is really happy" Lynn said, until she quickly gets down to the real reason for the call. "Actually I want to talk to you, about Veronica."
Josh's ears stand straight up on hearing the request, it definitely wasn't the sort of thing he expected. Despite being caught off-guard, he listens intently to what his friend will have to say about her wife as he has a gut feeling it isn't good though he waits patiently for the details. He has known the happy couple well, considering he had known about their relationship after catching them in the act of sharing a kiss together and he has protected them since.
"Ok, what is it? Is there something wrong?" Josh asked, worry etching slowly into his voice as he speaks to Lynn. "If there's something wrong, you can tell me."
"Oh no, nothing's wrong, just an incident" Lynn said, surprise quickly entering her voice before she spoke seriously. "There was a fight at school, it bothers her."
"That's not good, how did the fight start?" Josh asked, his worry slowly grows with every word that leaves his mouth. "Was it in the classroom or somewhere else?"
"In the room, Veronica's classroom, Josh" Lynn said, her voice filled with sorrow at what she was going to say next. "John Pearson and Bill Burrow, they fought."
"Again? I thought they were past all this" Josh said, pinching the bridge of his nose with his right paw in annoyance. "I can't believe this, how did the fight start?"
"John was acting like a tough guy again" Lynn said, a sigh of annoyance escaping her voice as she explains all of it. "Bill was mocking him, then they began to fight."
Josh could only close his eyes in pure frustration, he had dealt with these kids before six weeks ago. He'd been teaching the class, when the two kids got into a fight over the fact Bill had a crush on a girl in the class with this leading to them trading punches and kicks together. It was a struggle to get them apart, though he manages to get the two separated with the help of Lynn as she spoke to John while he spoke to Bill until the kids apologized to each other.
"Right, I got a class tomorrow anyway" Josh said, checking the nearby calendar on the kitchen wall close to him. "I will speak to them, when I get there, Lynn."
"Ok, but I'm coming to sort this out" Lynn said, determination in her voice as she tries to hold back her own anger. "I'll talk to John, he's better than this, Josh."
"Of course he is, same goes for Bill too" Josh said, taking the time to sigh in frustration before he begins speaking. "We'll sort it tomorrow, enjoy the ball for now."
"Thanks Josh, I'll try to enjoy the ball" Lynn said, she sighs in happiness until she begins to speak to her friend. "Veronica has the drinks, I'll see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow, bye Lynn"
"Bye Josh"
After the conversation and the call has ended, Josh takes the time to breath to let out his frustration. He couldn't believe all this, he thought he had gotten through to the pair of students when it comes to arguing and fighting in the classroom only for something like this to happen. He takes another deep slow breath, until he decided to worry about it tomorrow as he spends the rest of the day playing with Judy before going to bed later that night to get a good night's sleep.
Oh dear, there's been a fight at school again, let's hope Josh and Lynn can sort this out for good.
