Chapter 11

"Gentlemen and ladies, I do believe a meeting was called to order. Now, I know that you were supposed to be speaking with Glinda but things have gotten a little messy. So, we find ourselves needing to speak using her notes. First though, I'd like to break tradition or rules, and ask you – is there anything bothering you? Anything that you might like assistance with?" Fiyero started the meeting off the next afternoon.

"I'm glad to say that things are well in Munchkinland. I think we've really turned a corner. The people seem happy and I make sure to listen to the problems they bring forward. I hope that I can help before I get too old," Bfee spoke up.

"We are glad to hear it. No repercussions from the rebellion?" Fiyero wondered.

"We've had some misguided youth but I showed them the error of their ways. I hope that with more community outreach that we can turn those who are angry about the death sentences carried out into something positive for not only them but those around them," Bfee smiled.

"Couldn't have picked a better man for the job," Fiyero smiled at him.

"It is nice to meet you, Prince Fiyero, I am Supreme Glaxony of Quadling Country, Heart-of-Mushroom," the man spoke up. He had dark, ruddy colored skin and his unruly long hair was oddly kept up with knitting needles. While Fiyero had been told that he was usually almost naked, today the man wore pants and a suit jacket, leaving his bare chest exposed.

"It is nice to meet you as well Supreme Glaxony. Anything we can help you with?" Fiyero wondered.

"We are a simple bunch in Quadling country but I do have a question for your Highness," Heart-of-Mushroom said. Fiyero nodded and the man continued,

"How did you know that the lovely Mistress Elphaba wasn't what that fish woman said she was?"

"Quite simply, anyone who had met and gotten to know Elphaba, would have known she wasn't what Morrible said she was. Of course, the lies made sure that no one got a chance to do that," the Prince said.

"Ah, a man who knows the truth is a man who fights for it. I'm not quite sure what us simple mushroom sellers can do for Lady Glinda but I will certainly offer our assistance," Heart-of-Mushroom smiled.

"We are most thankful," Fiyero smiled.

"If I may Prince Fiyero, what did Lady Glinda want to discuss? I don't have my notes. I admittedly left them at home" Brrr spoke up.

"I figured as much – for everyone. Councilman Barat thought it would be good since everyone was here that we at least agree to a future meeting date," Fiyero admitted.

"Makes sense. I do know that she had community programs she wanted to start but I had a few suggestions myself," it was his mother, Queen Ayla.

"Ok so let's table the meeting in favor of rescheduling for next month?" Councilman Barat wondered.

"Next month works for us – provided it is between the twenty-third and the twenty-seventh," King Tahir said.

"Works for me!" Heart-of-Mushroom announced.

"For me as well," Brrr said.

"I can do the twenty-fifth through the twenty-seventh," Bfee let them know.

"Excellent. We'll aim for the twenty-fifth," Barat smiled. They were suddenly interrupted by Chistery who entered the Council Chamber. Elphaba could see he held a piece of paper in his one hand.

"What is it Chistery?" She asked.

"That letter that Master Fiyero was waiting for," he told her.

"Ah, excellent. Thank you Master Chistery. Meet us in Glinda's office?" Fiyero asked him.

"Yes sir," Chistery nodded.

"Everything ok?" Bfee raised an eyebrow.

"Something that has popped up. Nothing that Glinda needs to worry about, more of a Vinkus matter," that statement made his parents give him a look.

"I want to thank everyone for coming. I'm glad we could work this out," Fiyero smiled at everyone. They all said their goodbyes but his parents stayed behind.

"Something we should know?" Tahir wondered.

"I sent Dilek to investigate. You better come to Glinda's office," their son admitted.
