Episode Fifty-Eight: The Edge of Desperation

The atmosphere aboard the Sky Patrol is tense as the heroes gather to discuss their next move. Silver stands at the center of the command room, his arms crossed as he stares at the tactical map. Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter stand close by, their expressions grim as they process what they've just learned about Metal Sonic.

*Mars: (incredulous) "Wait, so you're telling me Metal Sonic can copy other people's abilities? Just like that?"

*Silver: (nodding, grimly) "Exactly. He's not just fast and powerful — he can copy abilities, including my Chaos powers. That's what makes him so dangerous."

Jupiter clenches her fists, a shiver running down her spine at the thought. She exchanges a glance with Mars, both of them struggling to comprehend just how powerful Metal Sonic has become.

*Jupiter: (shocked) "But… that means he could use our own powers against us…"

*Silver: "He's done it to us before."

*Mars: (shaking her head) "That's insane. How are we supposed to fight something that can turn our own abilities back on us?"

Silver's expression hardens as he continues to assess the situation.

*Silver: (seriously) "Right now, Sonic is the only one who can keep up with him. But he's out in the field with Mercury, Venus, and Bunnie on a mission to find Sally. We're running out of options."

The group falls silent as the reality of their situation sinks in. The pressure mounts, and it becomes clear that they are facing a threat they may not be able to handle alone.

*Knuckles: (stepping forward) "There's one option we haven't fully explored yet — using the Chaos Emerald in combat."

Mars and Jupiter look at Knuckles, surprised by the suggestion.

*Mars: (raising an eyebrow) "You really think we could use the Chaos Emerald's power to stop Metal Sonic?"

*Knuckles: (firmly) "We don't have much choice. If we're going to stand a chance, we need to harness its full potential. It's risky, but right now, it's the best shot we've got."

Silver nods in agreement, realizing that Knuckles has a point. The situation is critical, and they can't afford to hold back any longer.

*Silver: (decisively) "We'll need to be careful, but you're right. We have to consider using our lone Chaos Emerald. Let's hope Sonic and the others can rescue Sally in time. We'll need all the help we can get."

Cut to the Egg 'Stache Flyer. Eggman sits at his control panel, the tension slowly easing from his face as he calms down. He's been pushed to the edge by Sally's relentless destruction of his bases, but now, he remembers that he still has one more option left.

*Eggman: (muttering) "I can't believe I forgot… There is one more asset I can call upon."

He presses a few buttons, pulling up the communication link to the Battle Bird Armada. A hologram of Battle Lord Kukku XV, the Egg Boss of the Sky, appears before him. The seven-foot-four avian leader looks as regal and imposing as ever, his golden armor gleaming in the light.

*Lord Kukku: (sternly) "Dr. Eggman… What an unexpected surprise. I assume you've come to me out of desperation."

Eggman's eyes narrow, his pride clearly bruised by having to humble himself before the Battle Lord. Nevertheless, he knows he has no other choice.

*Eggman: (gritting his teeth) "I wouldn't be asking for your help unless it was necessary. My empire is under attack by Princess Sally, and I need your forces to assist me in repelling her."

The Battle Lord raises an eyebrow, clearly enjoying Eggman's discomfort.

*Lord Kukku: (smirking) "You need the help of the Battle Bird Armada? Against one girl? How fascinating. It seems even the mighty Eggman has his limits."

*Eggman: (growling) "Enough with the posturing, Kukku. Are you going to help me or not?"

The Battle Lord chuckles softly, clearly savoring the moment.

*Lord Kukku: (calmly) "Very well. The Armada will mobilize. But know this, Doctor — I expect to be compensated for my assistance."

Eggman scowls but nods in agreement, knowing he has no other option. The communication link cuts off, and Eggman slumps back in his chair, his frustration bubbling beneath the surface. He's not happy about calling on Lord Kukku for help, but with Sally closing in, he has no choice.

Meanwhile, Sonic, Mercury, Venus, and Bunnie arrive at the ruins of the Northamer Egg Army base. The scene before them is one of devastation—buildings reduced to rubble, bodies of Egg Soldiers scattered across the landscape. The air is thick with the smell of smoke and ash, and the silence is deafening.

Sonic comes to a stop, his eyes wide with shock at the sheer destruction. Bunnie steps forward, her hand covering her mouth as she takes in the carnage.

*Bunnie: (softly) "What… what happened here?"

Sonic's voice is quiet, almost a whisper, as he responds.

*Sonic: (shaking his head) "This… this is Sally's doing."

The weight of his words hangs in the air, and the group is overwhelmed by the realization. Sally, their friend, had caused this destruction. The Sally they knew — the kind, brave leader — had become something capable of this kind of carnage. Sailor Venus stands frozen, her eyes filling with tears as memories of Soumerca flood back. She hears the bloodcurdling scream of Thunderbolt in her mind, the Chinchilla's heart sliced in half by Sally's blade. The guilt and horror wash over her again, stronger this time.

*Venus: (voice trembling) "I… I couldn't stop her… not in Soumerca… I couldn't stop her from killing Thunderbolt."

Bunnie places a comforting hand on Venus' shoulder, but the pain in her own heart is clear. She and Sonic have shared a deep bond with Sally for years and seeing what she's become tears at them.

As they continue walking through the ruins, they come upon a scene that leaves them paralyzed with horror: the bodies of Clove and Cassia lying motionless on the ground. Cassia's body is pierced through the heart, just like Thunderbolt. Bunnie's knees buckle, and she collapses to the ground in tears. Venus follows, clutching Bunnie as they both cry uncontrollably. The sight of Cassia — so young, so full of potential — dead at Sally's hand is too much for them to bear.

*Venus: (sobbing) "She was just a child…"

Mercury, unable to stomach the sight, turns away, doubling over as she vomits. Sonic, however, remains standing, his eyes glued to Cassia's lifeless body, his face expressionless. He doesn't blink, doesn't move. The devastation left him frozen in shock.

*Sonic: (whispering) "Sally… what have you done?"

Cut to Sally, still in Artika. She staggers through the R&D wing of the base, her hand clutching her chest as the pain that has been haunting her grows worse. Though it's no longer crippling, it hasn't gone away, and Sally grits her teeth, trying to push through it. The Chipmunk gathers blueprints and materials for future projects, knowing they could be valuable later, but her mind is clouded by the constant throb of pain in her chest.

*Sally: (gritting her teeth) "Why… why isn't this going away?"

She huffs in frustration, trying to ignore the discomfort as she makes her way to one of the living quarters in the base. With a deep breath, she collapses onto the bed, massaging her chest in an attempt to ease the pain. Despite the agony, her mind remains focused on her next target: the Midesta Egg Army base in Efrika, led by Nephthys the Vulture. She knows that will be her next move, but as she lies there, she can't shake the feeling that something is wrong.

*Sally: (whispering, worried) "Why… why is it getting worse?"

Her eyes drift closed as the pain continues to pulse through her chest, a sense of unease settling over her as she tries to strategize her next move.
