Episode Fifty-Nine: Resolution Amidst Ruins
The Sky Patrol hovers silently in the sky. The mood inside is tense, with the crew preparing for the next step in their battle against Metal Sonic. In the strategy room, Silver stands in front of a large screen, showing a map of their current location. Around him, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Tails, Knuckles, and Sailor Moon are gathered, each with serious expressions.
*Silver: (sternly) "There's no getting around it — Metal Sonic has copied all of my Chaos abilities. He knows everything I can do, and that makes him a near-impossible opponent to fight head-on."
Tails taps on his computer, bringing up images of Metal Sonic in various forms. His expression is tense, but he speaks calmly, having dealt with Metal Sonic's abilities before.
*Tails: (seriously) "I've researched Metal Sonic's copying ability in the past, and… there's no known weakness to it. He adapts to everything, no matter how powerful or intangible the attack is."
Sailor Mars frowns, crossing her arms as she tries to comprehend the full scope of Metal Sonic's power.
*Mars: (incredulous) "That's insane. How are we supposed to beat something like that?"
Jupiter clenches her fists, her eyes narrowing as she recalls the previous encounter with Metal Sonic.
*Jupiter: (frustrated) "No wonder he's so hard to take down. But that means even my attacks… could be turned against us."
The room falls silent for a moment, the weight of Mars and Jupiter's words settling over the group. Silver nods slowly, understanding their concerns but knowing that the situation is growing more desperate by the minute.
*Silver: (grimly) "Right now, Sonic's the only one fast enough to keep up with him, but he's still out in the field with Mercury, Venus, and Bunnie on their mission to find Sally. Without Sonic, we don't have the speed advantage."
Knuckles steps forward, his voice firm as he reiterates his earlier position.
*Knuckles: (confidently) "I've said it before — using the Emerald in combat is our best shot. Metal Sonic's tough, but the power of a Chaos Emerald might be enough to turn the tide in our favor."
Sailor Moon bites her lip, her thoughts racing. The idea of using such immense power, especially after everything they've learned about Metal Sonic, is overwhelming. She thinks about Sonic, still out in the field, and the thought of facing Metal Sonic without him makes her heart race with fear.
*Moon: (quietly) "But what if it's not enough? What if even the Emerald isn't enough to stop him?"
Silver steps forward, his expression serious but resolute.
*Silver: "We have to try. We're running out of options. And if we don't act now, Metal Sonic could come for the Sky Patrol at any moment. We can't afford to wait."
Sailor Mars looks at Sailor Moon, her expression softening as she places a hand on her friend's shoulder.
*Mars: (gently) "We've been in impossible situations before, Usagi. We always find a way."
Jupiter nods in agreement, her voice strong and steady.
*Jupiter: (with resolve) "And we'll find a way this time too. We just have to trust in each other — and in Sonic-kun."
Silver takes a deep breath before giving the order.
*Silver: (reluctantly) "… All right. Tails, go ahead and remove the Blue Emerald from the reactor. We're going to need its power in battle."
Tails nods, though there's a hint of hesitation in his eyes as he types on his console.
*Tails: (quietly) "I'll get it done. But once the Emerald's out, the Sky Patrol will be vulnerable. We won't have as much power to defend the ship."
*Rotor: "We do still have the Red Star Ring to use in a pinch. We won't be completely naked out here."
Silver looks around the room, knowing full well the risk they're taking. The team exchanges glances, each of them silently acknowledging the gravity of the situation.
*Silver: (firmly) "We'll make it work. We have to."
Cut to the Egg 'Stache Flyer, soaring high above the clouds. Eggman sits at his command station, his fingers tapping impatiently against the armrest of his chair. His normally smug expression is replaced with one of irritation, his thoughts racing as he waits for the Battle Bird Armada to rendezvous with him.
*Eggman: (growling) "First Jack… now Kukku. What's next? How many more times do I have to rely on others to fix this mess?"
He clenches his fists, his voice dripping with frustration as he mutters to himself.
*Eggman: "That blasted princess… she's ruined everything. I'm the master of this world, not some pathetic royal with a grudge."
Orbot and Cubot hover nearby, exchanging nervous glances as they hear Eggman's rant. The tension in the air is palpable as Eggman slams his fist on the control panel, his eyes narrowing with rage.
*Eggman: "She'll pay for what she's put me through. First Jack betrays me, and now I'm forced to humble myself in front of Kukku? No… I won't stand for this much longer."
He leans forward, his eyes narrowing as he gazes at the horizon where the Battle Bird Armada is expected to appear soon. His fingers drum against the console as his mind races with plans for revenge.
*Eggman: "When this is all over, Sally… you'll regret ever crossing me."
He leans back in his chair, waiting with simmering rage as the time for reinforcements draws near.
And miles upon miles away, Sonic, Sailor Venus, Bunnie, and Sailor Mercury stand in the middle of the wrecked Northamer base. The scene is eerily silent, save for the faint crackling of fires still burning in the distance. Sonic stands motionless, his eyes glued to the bodies of Clove and Cassia, while Venus and Bunnie struggle to pull themselves together after what they've witnessed.
Bunnie wipes her eyes, sniffling as she tries to steady her voice.
*Bunnie: (softly) "I don't know how to handle this… How could Sally…?"
Sonic's expression remains unreadable as he looks over the two slain Pronghorns, his mind racing but unable to form any words. Venus, still shaken by the sight of Clove and Cassia's bodies, leans heavily on Bunnie for support.
*Venus: (barely audible) "It's… too much. How could she do something like this?"
Mercury, though visibly affected, remains calm and collected. She steps forward, her eyes focused on the group, her voice steady despite the emotional weight of the moment.
*Mercury: (gently) "I know this is hard for all of us, but we cannot afford to fall apart. Not now."
She moves to Sonic, placing both her hands on his shoulders. Mercury's tone is firm, but there's a gentleness in her words as she tries to bring him back to the present.
*Mercury: (calmly) "Sonic, we need you right now. I know what Sally did here is horrifying… but if we don't act quickly, more lives could be lost."
Sonic takes a deep breath, his eyes flickering with a mixture of anger and sadness. He slowly turns to face Mercury, his voice low but focused.
*Sonic: (quietly) "You're right… I can't just stand here."
Mercury nods, knowing she's gotten through to him. She takes a step back, her mind already moving to the next logical step.
*Mercury: "Sonic, you know Sally better than anyone. Where would she go next? What's her next target?"
Sonic thinks for a moment, his mind racing as he tries to piece together Sally's strategy. After a few seconds, he looks up, his voice more certain.
*Sonic: (decisively) "The Metropolis base. It's the closest major base from here. If she's planning to keep going, that's where she'll head next."
Mercury nods, quickly formulating a plan in her head.
*Mercury: "Then that's where we need to go."
Venus wipes her eyes, her voice trembling as she tries to find her resolve.
*Venus: (softly) "But what if… what if it's the same as this place?"
Bunnie, still shaken, speaks up, her voice quieter but determined.
*Bunnie: "Then we stop her. We have to… for her sake too."
Sonic nods, his jaw clenched as he finally pulls himself together. His eyes still hold a haunted look, but there's a fire behind them now — a determination to face whatever comes next.
*Sonic: (firmly) "Yes. We stop her. No more of this."
The group shares a collective nod, their resolve building as they prepare to move forward, still haunted by what they've seen but driven by the need to stop Sally before she causes more devastation.
Speaking of Sally, she is still in Artika, leaning against a console in the base's R wing. She breathes heavily, massaging her chest as the pain lingers but has eased somewhat. Despite the reprieve, she can't shake the feeling that something isn't right.
Her thoughts are interrupted by a message flashing across the console in front of her — reports of reinforcements converging on the Artika base. Allies of Eggman are approaching, likely to fortify the base or drive her out.
*Sally: (muttering) "Reinforcements… they're coming for me."
For a moment, Sally considers staying, finishing off whoever dares to challenge her. The thought is tempting, especially after everything she's done to dismantle Eggman's forces here. Her grip on her Ring-Blades tightens as she weighs the idea.
*Sally: (thinking) "I could stay… wipe them out too…"
But as the thought lingers, the tactician in her steps in, reminding her of the bigger picture. She knows she's still recovering, and while she's capable of fighting, the risk of staying to face another wave of enemies could be too great.
*Sally: (sighing) "No… it's not worth it. I've done enough damage here."
Her decision made, she prepares to activate the Warp Ring on her wrist. Her mind shifts to her next target — the Midesta Egg Army base in Efrika, led by Nephthys the Vulture. It's a critical base in Eggman's control and taking it down would strike another major blow to his empire.
Sally glances down at her hand, still massaging her chest, the pain lingering in the back of her mind.
*Sally: (quietly) "I don't have time for this…"
With a final sigh, she activates the Warp Ring, her form vanishing in a flash of light as she teleports away, leaving the Artika base behind to prepare for her next battle.
