Power.
Naruto had only felt this powerful a few times in his career as a ninja. The surge of strength when he was fighting Haku in the land of waves and before the creep placed the seal on his belly. The his breath was labored as he glared at the monster that was attacking his home, harming his friends. The air around him swirled, green streaks in it as Naruto felt more alive than ever. He jumped into the air as a wave a sand from the recovered one tail slammed into where he was crouched.
"DIE!"Shukaku screamed as he launched bullets of sand at the ninja before him.
Naruto dodged or blasted each one as he raced towards the towering being. The wind seem to be warning him of danger so he flipped onto a roof, avoiding the blast that shattered the road. A hailstorm of small sand bullets pelted the roof but with a sweep of his arms Naruto launched the tiles off to block the attack. With spin and a lip forward the wind blasted forward sending everything in front of him towards Skukaku. The tail beast stumbled back as he was hit by the blast of wind. Recoving he roared then slammed his tail to the ground. Twisting his body, the one tail used it's tail to launch buildings and rubble at Naruto.
Naruto's eyes narrowed at that. Charka and elemental energy twist around him as he performed spinjitzu to move from object to object in the air as the fell. Crashes and screams reached Naruto's ears yet he did not hear them, too focused was he on the task at hand. Seeing that only a massive stone boulder was in his way he concentered, wind swirling around his fist as he remembered how Sasuke used lighting. Thrusting it forward he smashed the stone boulder and the surprised expression of Shukaku. Only for it to morph into a dark smile as it threw a punch of it's own at Naruto.
Naruto reacted with a shadow clone which threw him up, dispelling as the tail beast's hand smashed into it, dispelling the jutsu. Naruto flipped and land on the hand of the beast, feet sinking into the sand. Using wind was useless as it only made it harder to move. But Naruto was not going to given up. Master Wu would not want him to give up.
"NINGA... GO!" Naruto yelled the catch phrase like a war cry as he once more used spinjitzu. The cyclone of equal parts blue and red spun as he moved up the arm of Shukaku who did not allow Naruto an easy route up his arm. No, the beast formed pillars, sent waves of sand down his limb and even slammed his other arm down at Naruto. But the young ninja did not waver. A dozen shadow clones branched out, each using spinjitzu to hid the real Naruto from the eyes of his opponent. Shukaku snarled as he realized that unless he did something the boy would reach his host and awake him.
'Cannot let him get closer.' With wrath in his eyes, Shukaku removed his arm where Naruto was about to get onto the shoulder.
Naruto yelled as he saw what was about to happen. He was so close but as the arm fell he tried to use the spinjitzu to jump onto the shoulder but the one tail was ready. Close and in midair, caught unprepared, Naruto was struck by the air bullet. His elemental power blunted some of the power, but Naruto was sent flying across the sky of Konoha. Unable to stop, Naruto watched as he ground raced to meet him, horrified faces of Konoha ninja getting closer as he and the jutsu was about to have him strike a medical encampment.
"Naruto?!" Kakashi yelled as he saw his student heading towards him from above. Around him several ninja were rapidly doing hand seals to block the attack that was coming with Naruto. Kakashi knew that any barrier that could stop the attack would also kill his student, releasing the nine tails adding to the chaos. But if they did nothing the camp would be wiped out. Sakura covered her mouth in horror as she watched her teammate grow closer, dropping the bowel onto her foot, shattering it.
"Asakujaku!"
A green blur appeared in the sky. Might Guy threw a series of punches and kicks, breaking the jutsu that was about to hit the camp. Grabbing Naruto by the collar the jonin landed on the ground holding the genin like a cat would her kitten. All around ninja let out sighs of relief as the imminent danger was no longer a worry. Naruto head moved side to side, confused as to what had happened. The power he had felt was gone but he was still alive so what gives?
"You ok genin?"
Naruto looked up to see Guy's smiling face looking at him as he was placed on the ground. Naruto gave the man a grin. "Better than ever bushy brow sensei!"
"NARUTO!"
Naruto looked over his should only to get punched in the face by an irritated Sakura. "WHAT THE HELL UZUMAKI! JUST WHAT ARE YOU DOING FACING THAT THING!?"
Naruto stumbled back and his right hand held his broken nose as his left went up to prevent any more blows. "Sa... Sakura chan-"
"DON'T CHAN ME MISTER!" The pink haired girl snapped at her teammate. "What were you thinking of? Your no hero Naruto. There is no way you and Kiba could have thought you can defeat that thing."
"Sakura." Kakashi's voice cut though Sakura's anger like a knife. "We are in the middle of a battle and Naruto is doing his part."
Sakura deflated as Kakashi walked over, holding himself up with a makeshift crutch. The man placed a hand on his students shoulders and gave them each an eye smile. Then his fingers dug into Naruto's shoulder as a dark aura rose up around his body. Sakura yipped and stumbled back, not the direct target of the man's ire. Naruto swollowed as the eye smile turned a dark, sinister tone as he felt small.
"Na. Ru. To." Kakashi's haunting slow way he stated Naruto's name sent a shiver down Naruto's spine. "Tell me what happened to you after Garaa sent you flying out of the arena."
As Naruto recounted his tale a short distance away another player of the war was on the move.
Pythor growled as he slithered past the Konoha ninja that appeared in the cramp space suddenly. That bug using boy almost spotted him but the serpentine was sure to not let him get a good look. Unfortunately the snake realized his error as the small dog growled at his location in turn. Several kunai were set his way making the snake dodge and weave while trying not to make noise even as a blade pieced where his head was a split second ago.
'They are worse than the ninja!' Pythor yelled in his head as he jumped out the window, his tail tip thankfully out of reach from the small dog's jaws. Slithering as fast as he could, Pythor focused on his target. It was easy to spot with the glowing barrier on the roof of the building. If what that four eyes Kabuto was telling him was correct then the barrier held the leader of this Konoha as well as some person called Orochimaru. Four sound ninja Kabuto were maintain the barrier but there was a weakness that the Konoha ninja were unaware of built into the barrier in case something happened.
'To think that I, the great Pythor, am reduced to being an servant of humans again. Oh how demeaning.' Pythor slapped himself across his face. 'No! Think of how this may allow me to defeat those five ninja with my own army of ninja after I take over. I only need to bind my time and learn from this man. Once this mission is over to prove myself to him, then the real work begins.'
Smiled a dark smile he noticed an unattended medical bag as the nurse was busy helping a doctor heal a woman who had a shattered leg. As much fun as it would be to steal the bag or tamper with it, perhaps it be best to not draw attention to his mission. But the temptation was itching, a gnawing need to alter the fate of the battle for his new allies. But he hadn't survived so long by taking unnecessary risks. Moving on the snake noticed a commotion on the other side of the encampment with a blonde hair boy and a older human with silver hair with an eye covered by one of those odd headbands that seemed to be a fashion statement of ninja.
Pythor tightened his jaw. That boy reminded him of the son of Garmadon and leader of the dam ninja of ninjago. And he was sure he had ran into him before the battle begun but the snake could not recall. Memorizing his face the serpentine vowed to make sure this boy, Uzumakai Naruto, would suffer.
'Or maybe I can use him to get revenge on the city of ninjago.'
Moving out of the camp Pythor raced to the back of the arena where Kabuto told him he would be more likely to break into the building. Fighting were going on streets and rooftops still but the Anacondrai paid no mind. Looking up he was more concerned by the enraged sand titan that was recovering from what looked like a loss of it's limb. Sand was slowly rising from across Konoha but Pythor knew this was an illusion with scale. But was more concerning for the snake as well as all the ninja in the area was that the beast was also absorbing ninja and buildings into it's mass. Pythor hoped his mission could be finished soon before all hell broke loose with whatever the monster had planned.
As Pythor got closer his eyes widened at the sight. Inside of the glowing purple barrier a forest had appeared and multiples of what he assumed was the Hokage were fighting several other humans. Two of the humans wore what looked like cracked and old armor were fighting what looed like two identical brothers while a third was fighting whom Pythor believed to be Orochimaru. But more importantly was a busted down door where two ninja in masks were standing guard. ANBU if that he recalled was correct.
Pythor struck fast, his tail whipping around to deliver the tip into the throat of one of the men. Before the other could react to what happened Pythor stabbed him with his own sword after wrapping around the man to prevent him from using hand seals. The fris t man gurgled as he died but with a swipe of his new sword Pythor sent his head flying. Ducking into the building, Pythor wished he wasn't an Anacondrai but a Constrictai as he looked up at the ceiling. Moving towards the stairs Pythor relished what was coming. Soon this battle would be won for his new allies and then they would march onto Ninja city.
Tossing another annoying ninja out the window Pythor noticed that the monster was on the move. No longer did it look like a massive sand Tanuki but a armored beast of mix-mashed buildings. Pythor could swear he could see what looked like people covered in sand manning siege weapons on the beast that was lumbering on all fours. It was acting as a living fortress, trading speed for defense. With the bulk of the beast being used to hold the armor covering on Pythor suspected that it's fast defense was no longer in play.
This new development was very unwelcomed for the defenders of Konoha.
"What the hell is it doing!?" A Konoha ninja yelled as he used a fire jutsu to attack a wooden section of the armor. The fire hungrily licked at the wood but a water jutsu from a sand covered Konoha ninja took it out. The woman let out an inhuman yell as the sand whipped across her face like a many limbed beast, eyes a sickly tan color as yellow iris stared at the Konoha ninja below. Sand swirled around her arm turning it into a sword that she swung at the man. "Woah!"
The woman shrieked in frustration as he dodged her attack only to be knocked out by a blow from Kakashi's crutch. "You alright?"
The man nodded in thanks as he was helped up by Guy. "Yes. Senpai, what is happening?"
"I have no idea anymore." Kakashi answered as he looked up the leg of the monster, his hand tugging at his head band that was covering his eye. The other two looked up with Guy frowning while the other man collapsed in horror at the sight.
A sand covered Jiraiya stood on high, growling with sand covering his face like a mask and hands like talons. Next to him was his summon, also covered in sand but looking more like badger than a toad.
"Looks like we need to return his Youth to him." Guy stated as he took off his weights.
Kakashi nodded as he made ready for the fight. Both he and Guy were tried and running and fumes while the toad sage was acting like a puppet. His voice cut through the air as his hand trailed down to his restocked pouch. "Naruto. Sakura. You two need to go on ahead. Wake him Gaara up before all of us become sand-bies."
Guy barked a laugh. "Sandbies. Cute by dear rival."

A sneak peek for the battle for Konoha part 6
Sand and rubble from the various buildings that acted as armor fell from the sky all around Naruto as he and Gaara fell. His spinjitzu sputtered and he almost lost control of it as Naruto took them towards the Arena where they could escape most of the damage. All around them Sand and Sound ninja were fleeing in terror as their ace was no more.
But Naruto's eyes weren't on the fleeing ninja but on the scene in the barrier before him.
His grandfather figure, the leader of the village was dead.
