"UGH! Can't say I've missed THIS place!" Amy groaned as she trudged through the long-abandoned Prison Island. Back when they first encountered Shadow, this place had been blown up by Dr. Eggman, but enough of the structure remained intact that GUN had managed to use it during the Black Arms invasion. Since then, however, it had remained abandoned.
"Eh, just avoid the glowing green sludge, and this place will start to grow on you!" Rouge joked. She had asked Amy to accompany herself and Omega to the Chaos Emerald reading on the island since Shadow was insisting on going solo after his little argument with Sonic. Amy supposed this made her the token hedgehog of the group. Why did all of the prominent teams have those?
"Avoidance NOT recommended. Chaos Emerald reading indicates toxic river to be the most efficient route." Omega said. Amy just sighed as she boarded a floating disk on the surface of the sludge, and tried not to think about what would happen if she touched it.
Near the end of the river, Amy was nearly knocked off her disk as a makeshift spear was thrown in her direction. She looked over in shock at who had thrown it. "Is that a Black Arms drone!?"
"More than one, by my count. Guess a few were left on the island after the Black Comet went kaboom. But I thought these guys worked on a hivemind?" Rouge replied, tossing a bomb into the crowd of 20 or so at the end of the river.
"Mutagenic forces on island may have granted them limited free will. Exercise caution, as I will not be." Omega stated, before unleashing his full fury upon the Black Arms. They fell quickly, much to Amy's sadness as she finally made landfall. "I didn't want you to..."
But then the corpses began to glow green, and the drones began to rise again, their wounds healing instantly. "Whoa! They couldn't do THAT last time!"
"Another mutation. Will attempt to correct this." Omega said, opening fire on the hoard again. Rouge grabbed Amy and began flying the two towards the Chaos Emerald reading.
"Come on! He's got this! Let's just get the emerald so we can all scram!" She shouted at the pink hedgehog. Amy nodded and used the emerald radar to lead Rouge to the site they needed to go, finally reaching a rough-looking shrine. "Look! There it is!" Amy exclaimed.
"Well then, let's hurry up and nab it! I've got a bad history with hunting Chaos Emeralds in this place!" Rouge replied.
But before they could get too close, a cadre of Black Arms corpses rose from the ground, and began to join their bodies together around the emerald, forming a mighty guardian around it. "Ugh! I have had ENOUGH with ZOMBIES in my life!" Amy yelled, summoning her hammer to her hand. "Rouge, how hard can you throw me?"
"Hard as you need me to, sister!" The bat enthusiastically replied. Amy gave her an aim, and then had Rouge throw her in a spin right into the creature's gaping maw, and straight through its back. A few seconds later, the spark of life left its eyes, and it collapsed into a black tar on the floor below. Amy emerged, covered head to toe in the ebony sludge, but triumphantly holding the emerald in her hand. Rouge applauded her as she landed. "Good job, kid! Though uh, I think I'll let YOU hold the emerald this time!"
"Assailants have been neutralized and are not regenerating. Please return to me before I get bored." Omega radioed in.
