Infinite floated above the endless desert before him. He knew that the heroes would be attempting to gather the Chaos Emeralds before he did. That was why he had told them of his plans, after all.
Yes, a recent...Acquisition would be more than enough to deal with that. But for now, he needed the one thing the heroes had over him: Numbers.
Upon landing, a barrage of various types of weaponry was pointed at him, before being quickly lowered at the behest of a much older man. A jackal, like Infinite himself. "So...You're finally back."
"After all this time, yes." Infinite said, removing his hood and slightly bowing his head to the older jackal. "You abandoned us. You had a simple mission: To raid that Eggbase and get out with whatever you could find...But instead, you left your post, and led your squad to their dooms."
"An unfortunate occurrence on my path to power, yes. But a necessary one. For I would not be who I am today without it." Infinite replied. The older jackal scoffed. "You abandoned us for your own goals, and what? Now you expect us to welcome you back with open arms?"
"No. I expect you all to bow down to your new master." Infinite stated, simply. The older jackal laughed at him. "That mask must be on pretty tight for you to think THAT, deserter!"
But Infinite wasn't deterred by this reaction. If anything, he had expected it...Almost HOPED for it. "Let me establish something for you, old timer. As your body ages and decays, your strength decreases. Lowers. Disappears entirely. But MY power? It never ends. It only grows stronger!"
He summoned a sword to his hand, quickly sending its blade straight into the older jackal's chest, shocking the old man. "And now, YOU are a part of that power!"
As the old man fell limp before their eyes, all of the weapons were again drawn on Infinite, but he faced them in bemusement. "Now then, who ELSE wishes to challenge me?"
