Back in the desert caves, Cyber, Spike, and Edge dashed into action as Infinite fired two of his energy whips toward them, just barely being missed by a hair. Cyber noted, however, that unlike their encounter in Vista View, the whips didn't stay with the Jackal, merely launched into small ropes before dissipating after not hitting a target.

A matter to ponder later, she supposed, as she aligned the Chaos Emerald with the slot she had built into the new grip. This would certainly give her the power to avenge Jack and Raccoon!

But as she tried to lock it in, the emerald...Didn't go in? No, instead, it held itself above the slot with crackling energy hovering just above where it needed to go!

"-What the heck?-"

"Huh. I don't think it's supposed to do that." Edge commented. Spike gave him a look. "What? I'M the one who BUILT that sword!" The wolf defended. Spike just rolled her eyes. "Get some cover while you figure that thing out, Cyber! We'll keep him busy!"

The canary nodded and quickly got behind a small rock formation as Spike and Edge engaged. Spike began with shooting a few spike balls while Edge energized his sword, and began swinging it around in its whip mode, hitting Infinite a few times from a distance and stunning him. Spike then activated the energy mace mode on her Wispon, and began a tag-team effort close-up with Edge to try and subdue the jackal as they all swung wildly at each other.

Cyber checked all of her readings and diagnostics again, even hitting the grip a few times in frustration. Everything but the power source was functioning perfectly! But something about the emerald was resisting her attempt to use it! She had to hurry, Edge and Spike couldn't last long against that guy, and she refused to lose anyone else under her watch today!

Infinite shot out two more energy whips, this time managing to wrap it around Edge's arms and legs, sending him down to the ground and rendering him unable to move. "Oh, well ain't that just PEACHY!?" He grumbled from the ground. He'd been in this situation too many times lately, and all because of masked jerks. Typical.

Spike defended as best as she could, even grabbing Edge's fallen sword from the ground to dual-wield with her mace as Infinite became more and more relentless in his attacks, until he finally managed to knock both weapons out of her hands, and then snared her in another energy whip, bringing her down to her knees.

"You've fought well, hedgehog..." He said, summoning a sword of energy to his hand, and raising it above his head, ready to deal the final blow. "But you are ALL out of your depth here!"
