The United States, what was once a proud and resilient nation, had fallen under Hacker's control, his influence spreading swiftly across the globe as more countries succumbed to his ever-expanding army.
In the urban city of New York, on a dock overlooking the Statue of Liberty, Hacker stood with a megaphone in hand, commanding a group of former citizens and his robotic minions to dismantle the iconic statue. He had plans to replace it with a massive figure of himself, a symbol of his rule over the land. A similar project involving Mount Rushmore was also underway, though the details were still being finalized.
"YOU! Work faster! YOU-move that piece more to the right! And YOU... HEY! My chin is not THAT big! Fix it immediately!"
In the middle of barking orders, Hacker's tablet began vibrating, flashing with an incoming video request from Max. He let out an irritated sigh, pulling it from his back pocket and tapping the screen to accept.
"What is it, Max? Can't you see I'm busy?" Hacker snapped. "If this is about The Energy Monster again, I've already told her..."
"U-uh... A-actually, it's Zach and the others. They want to speak with you... im-m-mediately," Max replied.
Hacker paused, then let out an exasperated sigh. "Fine! But this better be quick-I have important work to oversee here!" He declared.
As Hacker gazed at the screen, he could hardly contain his excitement. The live feed showed Zach and Tobey in the temple deep within the Everfree Forest, flanked by the captured Mane Six, the three young fillies, and a small dragon. Each of them was clad in blackish-gray vests and helmets emblazoned with the Varmitech Industries logo, their expressions blank and obedient.
Zusk stood in the back, holding the Second Crystal in his hands, glowing with a powerful energy that Hacker could almost feel through the screen. "Excellent!" Hacker exclaimed. "With the Second Crystal in our grasp and our new allies, nothing will stop us from conquering the multiverse." He chuckled darkly.
"Hey, real quick, Hacker. Didn't you mention wanting to meet with us after we found the second crystal?" Zusk asked.
"Right! I wanted to discuss our progress and see if anyone had any new ideas," Hacker replied. "Go inform the others, and I'll meet you back at the M.N.S." Hacker ordered. As he spoke, the chat screen faded, only to be replaced by Max's image.
"Well, you heard them. I need a portal! Now!" Hacker ordered sharply.
"O-of course! One p-p-portal coming right up!" Max stammered, his face ready to work. But just as he began to create the portal, he abruptly halted, gasping as his screen flickered. Something ominous was descending from above, slowly approaching him.
"Max? What is it?" Hacker asked, his confusion evident.
"T-t-there's s-s-something behind you!" Max stammered, his voice trembling.
"What? What are you talking about?" Hacker snapped, growing increasingly irritated.
Turning his head toward the sky, Hacker was suddenly met with a cacophony of noise. He felt a jolt of shock as he saw a peculiar spacecraft descending through the atmosphere. Many of the workers Hacker had hired for the statue paused, their attention drawn to the strange sight. As the spacecraft touched down just a few feet away from Hacker, a figure emerged from the cockpit.
The figure levitated gracefully toward Hacker, who remained speechless. As she drew nearer, he could see her features more clearly. She was a woman with long blonde hair that partially obscured one eye, dressed in a sleek white and blue suit. Her lips were a striking blue, and she wore goggles that complemented her attire. Perched on her shoulder was a peculiar creature with large eyes and ears, and her ensemble was completed with a small blue hat and a matching belt.
"Are you Hacker?" She inquired.
"Uhhh... yeah?" Hacker stammered, finally regaining his composure. "Who are you?" He asked, eyeing her with curiosity.
"I'm glad you asked!" She replied cheerfully. "The name's Miss. Power! And this is my noble sidekick, Corneil GiggleCheeks!" She announced, gesturing to the creature on her shoulder.
"Alright, nice to meet you, I guess," Hacker said, his curiosity piqued. "But what brings you here?"
"We're here to help you, of course!" She exclaimed with enthusiasm. "I would have arrived sooner, but, well, you know..."
Hacker raised an eyebrow, puzzled. "Why do YOU want to help ME?" he asked.
"Honestly? I like your style! You managed to defeat that pesky WordGirl for good!" She replied, a gleam of admiration in her eyes.
"WordGirl? How do you know about her?" Hacker asked, confusion creeping into his voice.
"Well, let's see..." Miss. Power explained, a smirk crossing her face. "I first came to Earth with the plan to team up with WordGirl so we could take over the planet together. I even trained her myself, taught her everything I knew!" She paused, her expression souring. "But, as you might guess, things didn't go as planned, and I had to make a quick exit. Since then, I've been keeping a close watch, biding my time. Until I saw you pull together a team with those bottom-feeders and finally manage to get rid of her."
"Well, what can I say?" Hacker said, puffing out his chest with pride.
"Exactly! Since you're working with all those other fools, you could use someone of real value on your team!" She insisted.
"Well... I suppose I can see your point," Hacker replied slowly. "We could always use some extra help."
"Trust me! You're going to need it!" she said with a knowing grin. "Now, what's next on the agenda?"
...
In the Multiversal Networking System, the villains sat around a large round table, their attention focused on the massive screen where Max's face appeared, observing them.
"What's taking him so long?" Cozy Glow snapped, crossing her hooves in frustration.
"Calm down. He'll be here soon," Ledge replied, glancing at her with a relaxed expression.
"He should've BEEN here by now!" Tirek growled impatiently.
"Yeah, what's the holdup?" Dr. Two-Brains added, tapping his fingers on the table.
A portal shimmered open at the front of the M.N.S., and Hacker stepped out, making his way to the large recharging chair at the head of the table.
"It's about time!" Dr. Two-Brains sighed with relief. "What kept you?"
"We were supposed to start 15 minutes ago! You know how much I hate delays," Paisley Paver added sharply, with the others echoing similar complaints.
"My apologies," Hacker replied, settling into his chair. "I was busy recruiting our newest member."
"Newest member?" Buzz questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"You mean Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis?" Dabio asked, gesturing toward the trio sitting nearby.
"Huh? Oh, them?" Hacker noticed the three staring at him, slightly bewildered. "Uh, hello... But no, I meant someone else," he clarified with a sly grin.
"Who is it, Boss?" Delete asked curiously.
"I'm glad you asked! She's the most intelligent and powerful person in the universe! With her on our side, nothing will stop us!" Hacker announced proudly.
"Are you saying there's someone better than me?" Victoria Best snapped, narrowing her eyes.
"And as for being the most intelligent, well, I'd have to disagree," Tobey chimed in, raising an eyebrow.
"You could say that," Dr. Two-Brains muttered under his breath.
"So, the most powerful being in the universe, huh? I'd certainly like to meet her," Tirek added with a dark grin.
Hacker grinned back. "Oh, you will! Everyone, meet Miss. Power! The most powerful force you'll ever know," he declared as a new portal shimmered to life, and Ms. Power stepped through, her sidekick Corneil GiggleCheeks perched confidently on her shoulder.
The room fell silent, and judging by their expressions, thrilled was not exactly how the villains felt about their new "ally."
"WHAT?! WHAT'S SHE DOING HERE?!" Dr. Two-Brains shouted furiously, as the rest erupted in disbelief.
"Of all people, why did it have to be her?!" Tobey exclaimed.
"You... know her?" Hacker asked, glancing around the room as the noise began to settle.
"Unfortunately, yes, we do," The Butcher groaned, folding his arms.
"What are YOU doing here?" Seymour Smooth demanded.
Miss. Power smirked. "What does it look like? Since Hacker's working with all of you CLOWNS, I figured he could use someone he can rely on."
The room exploded in argument as Ms. Power and the villains traded insults.
"ENOUGH!" Hacker finally shouted, slamming his fist down to silence the room. "We're here to work together, remember?"
"Do you really expect us to work with her?" Granny May protested, setting off another wave of shouting. This time, it quickly escalated into an all-out brawl, as each villain used their powers against Ms. Power-and she retaliated with equal force.
Hacker's henchmen, Buzz and Delete, along with Zach, Donita, Gourmand, Paisley, Ledge, Zusk, Wicked, Cozy Glow, Tirek, and Chrysalis, stood back, watching the chaotic scene in stunned silence.
Hacker let out an exasperated sigh, marching over and finally forcing the group to separate. With everyone momentarily quiet, he turned to the large monitor displaying Max. "Alright, now that that's settled... let's move on," he said, eager to regain control of the meeting.
Hacker cleared his throat, trying to redirect everyone's attention back to the mission. "As I was saying, with the second crystal in our possession, our focus now shifts to claiming the remaining two. These crystals are the key to ultimate power and to solidify our control over the multiverse. And with Ms. Power on our side-"
"Are we really supposed to trust her?" Dr. Two-Brains interrupted, crossing his arms and shooting Ms. Power a glare.
"Argh! She be a loose cannon!" Captain Tangent added. "I don't think she be understanding the meaning of teamwork."
"Or loyalty," Chuck muttered.
Miss. Power scoffed, tossing her hair back. "You're all just upset because you know I'm more skilled than every one of you combined. The only reason Hacker even bothers to keep you around is because you're convenient."
"Convenient?" The Butcher grumbled, clutching his fists as if preparing to launch into another round of attacks. The other villains exchanged similar glances.
"ENOUGH!" Hacker bellowed, silencing the group once more. "Miss. Power is here because she's proven her strength, and if we're going to succeed, we need that strength on our side. I suggest you all get used to it."
As the group grumbled, Wicked leaned in closer to Ledge. "I don't know... something feels off about her. She says she's here to help, but I can't shake the feeling that she's got her own agenda," Wicked murmured, glancing suspiciously at Miss. Power, who was now admiring herself in a nearby reflective surface.
Ledge chuckled softly, giving Wicked a teasing nudge. "Oh, come on, Wicked. You're not... jealous, are you? I mean, it's pretty clear Hacker's taken a bit of a liking to her."
Wicked shot him a sharp look, crossing her arms. "JEALOUS? Oh please, I don't care who Hacker's impressed by. Besides, I dumped him years ago," she retorted, rolling her eyes.
"Sure, sure," Ledge replied, still smirking. "Then why are you so interested in Ms. Power's 'agenda'?"
Wicked huffed, glancing across the table where Ms. Power was still basking in her own reflection. "Because I know the type. She's only out for herself-just watch, she'll stab us in the back the moment it benefits her. And if Hacker's too blind to see that, well, someone has to keep an eye on her."
Ledge shrugged. "Maybe. But she could be useful. I mean, she's powerful, no doubt about it."
Wicked didn't look convinced, but she dropped the subject, keeping a watchful eye on Ms. Power as Hacker continued outlining the plan to capture the remaining crystals. She'd make sure to stay a step ahead of Miss. Power-just in case her suspicions proved right.
With the group dispersing, Miss. Power shot them all a smug grin before stepping back through the portal, her eyes glinting with a confidence that made Wicked's unease deepen.
As Hacker watched his new ally disappear, he couldn't shake the feeling that maybe-just maybe-his latest recruit might come at a higher price than he anticipated. Once the rest of the villains had left the room, Buzz and Delete glanced at each other, then back at Hacker with anxious expressions.
"Uh... Boss?" Buzz began, rubbing the back of his neck. "You sure Miss. Power's, uh... trustworthy?"
"Yeah! She seems kinda... intense," Delete added, his face scrunching up in concern.
Hacker waved a dismissive hand. "Oh, please! You two Duncebuckets wouldn't recognize strength if it hit you over the head with a giant sledgehammer! Miss. Power is exactly the type of ally we need-fearless, capable, and ready to do whatever it takes to win. Once we have all four crystals, nothing else will matter!"
Buzz and Delete exchanged doubtful glances but stayed silent. They knew better than to argue when Hacker was in one of his confident moods. Just then, Wicked reappeared in the doorway, her face set in a serious expression as she approached them.
"Hacker, I need to talk to you," she said quietly, looking over her shoulder to make sure they were alone.
Hacker sighed impatiently, turning toward her. "What is it now, Wicked? If this is another complaint about Miss. Power, save it! I've already heard enough whining for one day."
Wicked frowned, undeterred by his tone. "It's not whining, Hacker-it's instinct. There's something... off about her. I can't explain it, but I don't think she's here to help us in the way you think. I've worked with enough tricksters to know one when I see one."
Hacker chuckled, waving her off dismissively. "You and your instincts, Wicked. Don't let your jealousy cloud your judgment. Ms. Power's here because she sees potential in me, in us, and she wants to be part of our success. End of story."
"But-" Wicked started, her eyes flashing with frustration.
"Enough, Wicked!" Hacker snapped, folding his arms. "I didn't bring her here to cater to your suspicions. Focus on the mission and let me handle the new recruits."
Wicked stared at him, biting back further arguments. She knew it was no use; Hacker's mind was made up. But deep down, her gut told her something wasn't right. With a resigned sigh, she turned and left the room, casting one last wary glance in Hacker's direction.
As the door closed, Buzz and Delete shifted uneasily. "Uh, boss," Delete murmured, "maybe Wicked's got a point..."
Hacker rolled his eyes. "Wicked always has her 'points.' But trust me-Miss. Power's talents will get us those crystals faster than any of you can even imagine. Now get back to work, both of you!"
As he stormed off, Buzz and Delete exchanged one last uneasy look. Neither of them said anything, but they both felt the same knot of worry tightening in their stomachs.
