One thing that I did find out was that someone was bitten by a werewolf last night, but it was just Rose instead of someone that I cared about. Caroline's thing with Tyler went off without a hitch. It was probably a good idea not to tell Matt about what happened, even though the two of them were no longer together. We didn't want to have any more fighters between them because I was pretty sure that Matt wouldn't stand a chance.
When I woke up, I found that Anna was in the shower. I was a little upset because I wanted to take a shower, but I knew that it would not be a good idea to take another shower together. I had patched things up with Stefan and I did not want to ruin them once again. I waited for her to come out and she finally walked into the bedroom, wrapped in a towel.
"Can I use the shower now?" I asked her.
"Yeah, I'm all done." She replied. I couldn't help but wonder if she was going to ask me anything, but that would be pretty inappropriate to do. I just decided to grab a towel of my own and went to the bathroom and began to shower. Seeing Anna in a towel was not easy, but it was for the best for us not to date. I quickly bathed myself because I didn't have a lot of time. I needed to be at the school.
After I got out of the shower, I went to my room and dressed myself in a sleeveless light button-up blouse, tied at the end with white pants. I went downstairs to see Anna eating breakfast…dressed in her uniform. That was not what I was expecting.
"Why are you wearing that?" I questioned. I thought she didn't really like wearing her uniform and I couldn't think of why she would choose to wear it. I was impressed that she decided to stay on the cheerleading squad despite not liking it.
"I think the better question would be 'Why aren't you wearing yours?'." She pointed out. Why would I be wearing my cheerleading uniform? "It's the booster squad barbecue today. There's no way that I'm going to wear this if you're not."
The booster squad barbecue wasn't really something that I was looking forward to. Don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to the barbecue part, but it also meant that would we have to meet the booster squad, which was generally a bunch of middle-aged men. I would have to be in my cheerleading uniform in front of a bunch of middle-aged men.
"I totally forgot." I admitted as I went upstairs to change. I then came back down wearing my uniform. "So, the school has started a dating site for teens. I can help you with a profile."
"I am definitely not interested in online dating." She responded. I couldn't help but wonder if she had ever done anything like that before. I was pretty sure that she wasn't pretending to be a teenager for her whole life. Well, it would be more like she was pretending that she wasn't a teenager, at least in the physical sense.
"It's not like you would be going out with a total stranger. It would be someone that we go to school with." I explained.
"I think I'd rather have it you introduce me to someone." She stated. I was not good at playing matchmaker. It was then that I got an idea.
"How about Tina?" I asked. "She knows you're a vampire which would make things a lot easier."
"I'll do it if she's at the barbecue." She agreed. "So did you ever find out how you know Tina?"
"I think we used to be best friends or something." I explained. "And she'll definitely be there because she's on the squad too, but you are going to have to go to school by yourself because I need to go talk to Stefan."
"You know your bellybutton looks great." Anna commented. I blushed and pulled on my top. I headed out to my car. I still felt good being able to drive by myself, even though I had done it before. Now I was doing it legally.
On the way to Stefan's, I took out my Bluetooth headset and called Tina because it was safer than texting and driving.
"What's up?" She answered.
"So, you remember my friend Anna, don't you?" I asked. She told me yes. "Would you be willing to go out with her?"
"Are you sure that's such a good idea?" She questioned. "Caroline said that she had problems dating Matt."
"Anna has good control of herself." I explained. "She's not going to hurt you. I just want her to date someone."
I knew realized that I was at the boarding house and hung up. I didn't want to tell Tina that I wanted Anna to date because it might make me want to date her less. I went up to Stefan's room and noticed that he wasn't there.
"Stefan? Stefan?" I questioned before I felt a presence. "You're standing right behind me, aren't you?"
"Yup." He answered as I turned around to see him not wearing a shirt. I had to prevent myself from drooling. I did immediately go over and kiss him. However, after a short amount of making out, he broke apart from me. Why did he have to leave me so horny?
"Why did you stop?" I questioned. I really didn't want him to stop.
"I've been thinking." He replied. He could think after we were done. I had some needs.
"Please don't kill the moment." I begged. I had a feeling that he still would. "You're about to kill the moment, aren't you?"
"I just can't stop thinking about this deal that you made with Elijah." He admitted. Why was it so important. Elijah gave me a good offer and I took it.
"Elijah is very powerful, and I think that it would be a good idea to have him as an ally." I pointed out as I noticed him putting a shirt on. I was pretty sure that the moment was now dead. "Not to mention you would still be in the tomb if not for him."
"I'm sorry, but I just don't trust him." He remarked. What reason did he not have to trust him? "I'm going to look for other options."
"Stefan, I made a deal with Elijah." I repeated. Did he not understand that?
"Yes, you made a deal. I didn't make a deal with him. I think you should keep your deal." He replied. I was pretty sure that defeated the purpose of me making a deal. I sighed before I reached into his desk and pulled out a bottle of vervain water. I first took a drink of it myself.
"If you drink my blood with vervain in it, will it protect you from compulsion?" I questioned. The Originals could apparently compel other vampires. I didn't know how they did it, but Stefan saw Elijah do it to Katherine to prevent her from leaving the tomb. It was a good question, but I wasn't sure if it would even work.
"I don't know, it's not something that I've ever tested before." He replied as I held my hand out to him. He seemed hesitant. "Mary, you don't have to keep doing this."
"I want you to be at your strongest, and you do need protection from compulsion." I pointed out. I then noticed that something else was wrong. "Also, you should be wearing your jersey."
He bit into my hand and coughed a little as the blood went down his throat. It seemed like he could definitely taste the vervain. It didn't really last that long, which I assumed was a good thing. I then left the room so he could put his jersey on. I didn't know if it would actually prevent him from being compelled though. As far as I knew, Elijah had no plans to compel him at least, but I couldn't say the same for Klaus. The other problem was I had no idea what Klaus looked like.
I went downstairs and heard a very violent cough. I walked closer and saw Damon with Rose, who looked like she had a very nasty infection on her back. I wasn't sure if it would eventually kill her or what. I was a little surprised that the death was instantaneous. It seemed she was going to suffer, which I was perfectly okay with.
"It looks great, doesn't it, Mary?" Damon asked me.
"Um…sure." I replied, realizing that he wanted me to lie. He then took me into another room, and I whispered. "So, is that what a werewolf bite looks like?"
"Yes, and I want to find a cure, so I need you to keep an eye on her." He replied.
"Why would I do that?" I questioned. He seemed to think that I was someone who cared about her.
"Because she's sick and she needs someone to watch over her." He pointed out. Again, he seemed to think that I cared. He also didn't seem to understand that I wanted her to die.
"It's daytime." I argued. "She'll be fine left alone here. I have a very important event to go to."
"I don't believe that." He replied. He wasn't in high school, so he didn't understand this stuff.
"It's to pay back to the people who have donated to the school." I explained. As much as I didn't want to do that, I wanted to hang out with Rose even less, so I would go. "Plus, they have barbecue, and I am not going to miss out on barbecue. If you want someone to keep an eye on the bitch, find someone else to do it."
At that point, Stefan came downstairs in his jersey and Damon looked at him, but Stefan just shrugged, and we headed to the school together. As soon as I got there, I knew that I needed to find Anna. Before I could find her, I found Caroline.
"What are you doing?" I asked her, noticing she was in a corner. She usually liked to be the center of attention, so her being all alone was a little weird.
"I'm hiding from Matt." She replied. That was also strange.
"Why are hiding from Matt?" I responded.
"It's a long story." She answered. So, she wasn't going to tell me. I probably would have listened to it. "You know I didn't exactly say that it was okay for Anna to be on the cheerleading squad."
"You appointed me second-in-command and since you were unable to fulfill your duties due to injury, I had the right to put her on the squad." I explained. I had paid attention when she gave me her speech. People didn't seem to realize that I didn't have bad grades because I wasn't a very good student. It was because I skipped class and homework so much.
"Well, I can't say that I haven't taught you well." She muttered. "Tina was looking for you."
I went and found Anna with a plate of food.
"Okay, I have to say that being a cheerleader rocks." She replied as she began to bite into a chicken wing. "I got to cut to the front of the line, and I didn't even have to compel anyone to do it."
"Well, you need to wash your face because I want you to go talk to Tina pretty soon." I explained.
"What are we going to do about this werewolf that bit Rose?" She asked curiously.
"Right now, Damon is handling it." I explained. She probably was dangerous, but she also wasn't here, so I couldn't really do anything about it.
"You know Damon's the one that caused the problem in the first place." She pointed out.
"Well, this isn't really something that I can be concerned with." I replied. I had to focus on this. "I've already got Stefan wanting to look for other ways to protect me even though I'm pretty sure that sticking to Elijah's deal is the best option."
After we were done eating, we went to wash the sauce off in the bathroom before we went over to Tina. I knew this would be a little bit awkward since the two already knew each other a little.
"So, I don't really know what to do here." Anna admitted. I was pretty sure that I was supposed to leave the two of them alone, but I kind of wanted to see this to see how everything went between the two of them. Yes, I would kind of be the third wheel, but both of them were my friends and they were the only things that I had who weren't someone's friends.
"So, Tina, did happen to see where Stefan went?" I asked. If was going to leave the two of them alone, it should have been to go be with my boyfriend. I wondered if they would ever be interested in going on a double date. It was probably too soon for that because I wasn't even sure if they would make it through the first date.
"I'm pretty sure that he left." Tina answered. Well, there went that idea. He could have at least told me.
I sighed, figuring that he had gone in search of other ways to protect me. I just hoped that he wasn't making a mistake doing it. I wasn't even sure if anyone else would be able to protect me. I figured that I probably should still give the two of them some space, even though I didn't know what I was going to do. Maybe I could hang out with Caroline. However, I soon found that she had also left. Now it looked like I was going to have to lead the cheer, and I wasn't entirely sure if I could do that.
I did have to admit that the barbecue was kind of boring. There was going to be a cheer to thank the people, which probably wasn't the best idea. I understood cheering for the team, but it just seemed like blatant fanservice to do it for a bunch of men that he had given the school money. I didn't really have a place to argue it, but it was definitely a little bit degrading. At least we wouldn't be close enough for any of them to touch.
I was preparing for the cheer when I went outside. The first that I noticed was the bizarre image of a body. It looked like it was the janitor. Who had killed the janitor? I then heard a growling and decided to walk closer. It was then that I noticed that Rose hunched over and barely dressed. I had to say that she looked like she was feral. I wasn't sure what to do. I decided that the best thing to do was to slowly walk away, but she seemed to hear my footsteps and charged toward me, biting into my neck. I screamed and Damon grabbed her off of me as she began to choke on the vervain.
"Now do you see why someone should have been watching her?" He asked me as she convulsed in his arms.
"There's nothing that I could have done." I pointed out. "We need to kill her because she is rabid."
"I'm going to get her out of here." Damon replied before he dragged her away. I was pretty sure that even though she looked like she had rabies, she didn't actually have them, and I wasn't at any risk of catching anything. It was kind of ironic that it came from a wolf though.
I sighed and looked at my neck. I did keep a scarf in my locker in case of emergencies, but it didn't really go with the outfit. I also couldn't help but wonder if I already missed the cheer. I couldn't say that I would be upset if I had. I did know that I wanted to see if they had any dessert left. I first went to my locker to get the scarf out and wrapped it around my neck. As I got in line, I couldn't help but notice a guy that I had never seen before. He was African-American with a bit of a lighter skin tone.
"Did someone bite you?" He asked me. That probably wasn't something to ask. I was pretty sure it meant that he knew about vampires, but it was still kind of weird to ask.
"Excuse me?" I questioned.
"I'm Luca." He declared as he held out his hand. "You and I share a common acquaintance named Elijah."
"So, you must be one his witches." I deduced. I couldn't help but wonder if he was paying them. Would it be weird to accept money for magical services? It sounded like something that some witches would do, even though it also sounded kind of unethical.
"We prefer the term warlock." He pointed out. So that was a real thing. I didn't know why there had to be a different term though. I mean Anna didn't want to be called a vampiress.
"So, I guess I need to thank you for getting Stefan out of the tomb then." I replied.
"Well, me and my dad. we have a lot riding on you, and we want to make sure that you're happy." He stated. That sounded really weird when he said it like that.
"Yes, you need me to kill Klaus." I remarked. I wanted more information though. "How do you plan on doing that?"
"You don't need to worry about that." He stated. In other words, he wasn't going to tell me. I pouted and grabbed myself a slice of apple pie. It was time for dessert, even though I might also get some more meat. Since I was on the squad, it meant that I got all of my food for free, and I wanted to take advantage of that.
I ended up finding out that the cheer was canceled because Caroline had bailed. At least that meant that I didn't have to do it. I couldn't help but wonder if it was to get away from Matt. I didn't understand why she would need to stay away from Matt. She pretty much had all of her vampire stuff under control, and they probably could be together. He was probably better for her than Tyler even if he was more fragile. I couldn't but wonder if the reason that she was avoiding Matt had to do with her liking Tyler. I supposed that it could have been a possibility. Love was weird sometimes.
I went home and headed up to my room and what I found was Anna and Tina were making out on my bed.
"You need to knock." Anna replied as Tina covered her face.
"It's my room." I pointed out. "I don't need to knock to enter my room."
"I'm gonna go." Tina replied as she got dressed and walked out.
"Why did you do that?" Anna asked in frustration. "You're the one that told me that I needed to move on. And you said that it's our room now, which means you can knock if the door is closed."
"Well, I wasn't exactly talking about hooking up with her." I pointed. I was a little bit jealous as well. "But we really need to set some ground rules. I really don't want you to bring other girls in there."
'So, what, you get to bring Stefan in there, but I can't bring anyone?" She asked. I supposed she did make a good point.
"Okay fine. I won't bring Stefan in here either. I'm sorry for interrupting." I apologized. It was only fair, even though it was my room first, but if didn't want to see her with anyone else, she shouldn't have to see me with anyone else either. "So, I take it that you two hit it off."
"Yeah, you could say that." She replied. "I don't know if we have any sort of connection, but there definitely is a mutual attraction."
It was at that moment that I got a text from Damon. I read it to find that Rose was dead. I couldn't help but feel a little sad for him. I then heard a knock at the door. I went down to answer it.
"John." I replied. "You said that you were never coming back."
"Well it seems you need my assistance." He told me. What did Stefan do?
So not a lot happened in this chapter besides the fact that Anna and Tina are dating now and John is back. Please don't forget to review.
