A/N: Will Catherine Schade's book provide answers for Sean and Juliette's respective problems?

Includes moments from Season 3's Bad Luck and Double Date.

*Sean's POV*

Sean left for the work the next morning not happy that Viktor had approached Lorelei. He wasn't surprised, but still wasn't happy. Thankfully Lorelei had seemed better by the time they went to bed. As much as he wanted to confront Viktor, he knew that could only make things worse. So, for now, he would leave it. Lorelei had assured him she was fine, again blaming PMS on her reaction.

After stopping to get coffee, he had just gotten back into his car when the door opened and to his surprise Adalind got in. "We need to talk." She told him.

"Do we?" He asked, putting his cup into the cup holder.

Adalind looked at him. "Viktor's obsessed with finding our child. He knows you're looking too."

Sean took in Adalind's appearance. "That's an expensive looking coat. Viktor buy that for you?"

"Listen to me. Viktor's gonna have you killed as soon as he finds her." Adalind told him. A complete contradiction to what he'd told Lorelei the day before.

"Uh-huh."

"Our girl's been through so much in her short life. And all without the people who love her the most. She needs us now more than ever."

Sean glanced at her. "Are we the two people who love her the most?" Sean asked, not believing a word that came out of her mouth.

Adalind glared at him. "Don't mock me. I didn't say two people. And even if I did. What makes you think I was referring to you?" She let out a breath. Sean wondered what she meant by that. "Look, I'm taking a huge risk coming to you."

"Come on Adalind. Why are you really here?"

Adalind's attitude changed. "When Viktor finds Diana, and he will find her, he's not gonna need me anymore either." She admitted. Ah, so she was being driven by self-preservation. "It's gonna get ugly. I mean, Viktor, the Resistance…Nick and his hexenbiest."

"So, you know about Juliette?"

Adalind removed the large sunglasses she was wearing, and he could see the skin around her eye was bruised. "Caught me a little off guard. When did you find out?"

"She had nowhere else to turn."

"Well, isn't that sweet?" Adalind said mockingly. "What'd you tell her?"

"Nothing much I could tell her."

A look of recognition crossed Adalind's face. "Oh, you sent her to Henrietta, didn't you?" Adalind looked away. "Well, that explains a lot." She was silent for a moment before looking back at Sean. "If this happened to Juliette, that means someone helped Nick become a Grimm again." Sean glanced down, avoiding her gaze. "So it's true."

"Why don't you ask him." Sean told her.

"I don't think so." She said, before grabbing his hand. "You and I need to be on the same side. It's us against them, and I'll do whatever it takes to save our daughter. I want you with me."

Sean looked at her for a moment before scoffing. "Damn you're good." He moved his hand away. "I really do want to believe you."

"For once, you should." She told him before slipping her sunglasses back on and getting out of the car.

Sean sighed. Adalind was certainly back in full hexenbiest mode. He was a little surprised she didn't try to use Lorelei and Olivia to manipulate him. Perhaps she realised after what she'd done to Lorelei's brother, his wife may not be interested in helping her. Hopefully, she would stay away from his family.

*Lorelei's POV*

Lorelei was taking advantage of Olivia's nap and using the time to study and work on assignments. She was about an hour in when she heard the doorbell ring. Sliding her gun from where it sat beside her into the back of her pants, Lorelei walked to the front door. Seeing it was Juliette, she opened it, letting her brother's girlfriend enter. "Nick knows." Was the first thing Juliette said once the door was closed.

Lorelei let out a breath. "How did he take it?"

"Well, he didn't kill me. So…although he did point his gun at me."

"What?" Lorelei asked, leading Juliette into the living area. "He pointed a gun at you."

Juliette nodded, by passing the couch to grab a bottle of Sean's whiskey. "I suppose in his defence, he thought I was Adalind." She said, grabbing a glass and filling it up.

"Ok." Lorelei said slowly.

"Who, by the way, stopped by last night."

"Adalind?" Lorelei asked, as Juliette perched on the couch.

"Yep. I kicked her ass. She ran out of there."

Lorelei nodded. Adalind was lucky Juliette didn't kill her. "So, back to Nick. How did he take it?"

Juliette shrugged, swallowing her mouthful before speaking. "I think he feel a lot of guilt. He slept on the couch. Can barely look at me. Didn't believe me when I said there was no cure."

"So, you're a hexenbiest permanently?" Juliette nodded "How do you feel about that?"

A shrug. "I'm not sure if I should stay in the house. What if Nick tries to kill me? He hates hexenbiests. A Grimm and an hexenbiest will never work, will it?"

"Juliette. That's your home. And Nick only really hates one particular hexenbiest. You aren't her." Lorelei assured her. "You would have to really push Nick over the edge for him to even consider killing you. And, who says a Grimm and a hexenbiest couldn't work."

"Henrietta."

"She doesn't know you. She doesn't know Nick. You two have been through so much. You love each other."

Juliette shrugged, finishing off her drink. "Maybe love won't be enough this time."

Later that night, Lorelei was awoken by Sean. He was yelling out in his sleep, tossing and turning. Turning on the lamp, she turned to her husband, shaking him, trying to wake him up. "Sean…wake up…Sean." With a shout he woke up, his eyes scanning the room before landing on her. "Hey, its ok. You had a nightmare."

Sean looked at her for a moment, his breathing starting to return to normal. However, his expression changed when he pulled his hand out from under the covers. Lorelei's eyes widened. It was covered in blood. "Oh no." Sean said, pushing the covers down.

"Oh my god." Lorelei said. The front of his shirt was covered in blood.

"No, no, no." He said in a panic, moving to the side of the bed as he pulled his shirt off.

Lorelei followed him, trying to keep calm as Sean panicked, desperately trying to wipe the blood off with his shirt. Getting off the bed, she came to stand in front of him as he ran his hand over the bullet wounds. It was like the other night, when they randomly started bleeding. Upon realising the bleeding had stopped, Sean looked up at Lorelei, looking helpless. "Come on, you need a shower." She said, grabbing his hand and leading him into the bathroom.

Flicking the light on, Lorelei turned on the shower before turning back to her husband. He was standing in the doorway, staring blankly in the mirror. Lorelei stepped towards him tentatively. "Sean?"

His gaze met hers. "I don't know what's wrong with me."

"We'll figure it."

*Sean's POV*

After waking covered in blood, Sean didn't sleep well. And because he didn't, neither did Lorelei. Although his beloved was acting calm, he knew she was worried about him. He was worried as well. Sean agreed to see a doctor and was lucky enough to get in later that day. He headed into work for the day, promising Lorelei that he would attend his appointment no matter what.

Before his appointment, Nick and Hank came into his office to update him on a case they were working on. "Mr Carson checked into the Benson Hotel three days ago." Hank told him as Sean looked at the photos of the victim. "According to the hotel manager, Carson wasn't due to leave for another week. His clothes and his suitcase were still in his room."

"Our victim was here on business. Works for Mason Freight." Nick continued. "We found a cell phone charger, but no cell phone on his person, in his car, or in his room."

"I bet he left it where he was last night." Sean commented, glancing up at them.

"Yeah, we got his number from the hotel. We're trying to run it now." Hank informed him.

"Do we know how the victim got these burns?"

"According to the M.E., the victim choked to death on viscous matter, which then ate its way through his lungs and moved onto other organs." Hank answered. "Said the substance is consistent with a parasitic enzyme like necrotising fasciitis. It's a skin-eating bacteria found in contaminated water."

"Apparently, there are certain animals that produce this enzyme that eat through body tissue: spiders, earthworms, snails, slugs, insects, and some plants, like the Venus flytrap." Nick added, as Hank handed Sean the report.

"Sounds wesen to me." Sean remarked.

"Or we're looking for a big-ass snail." Hank commented.

"Do we know what the victim was doing in that neighbourhood?"

"Not yet. Car was parked on the street." Nick answered. "No restaurants or bars nearby."

"Maybe he had a friend in the area." Sean suggested.

Hank nodded. "That's what we're thinking."

There was a knock on the door and Wu stepped in. "I got an approximate location for the victim's cell." He told them. "It's in a condo, near where his body was found."

Nick and Hank left to track down their victim's phone. Meanwhile, Sean headed to the doctor's office not long after that. Thankfully, he didn't have to wait long to be seen. He explained what was going on to the doctor, who had him remove his shirt and sit on the exam table. The doctor checked his heart and lung with the stethoscope. "Well, I don't see or hear anything abnormal." The doctor commented, removing the stethoscope. "The scar tissue looks fine. No sign of any tears. How much blood was there?"

Sean thought back to last night. "Um…maybe less than I thought." He said. "It was the middle of the night. I – I was half asleep."

The doctor nodded. "Well, I can do an MRI, but I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary." He paused. "How do you feel?"

"Actually, I feel ok." Sean told him. "But my wife was concerned.

The doctor nodded understandingly. "Well, why don't we go ahead and schedule the MRI just to make sure. But I wouldn't worry."

As the doctor turned back to his computer, Sean couldn't help but worry a little. If there was nothing medical wrong with him, perhaps it was something else. Or maybe it was nothing.

Sean made his way to the spice shop to speak with Rosalee. Perhaps she may be able to help. Sean entered the shop to find Rosalee handing Monroe some boxes.

"Sean." Rosalee said, looking surprised to see him. She exchanged a look with Monroe, who nodded at Sean.

Sean approached the fuschbau. "Rosalee. Um…I think I might have a problem." He told them quietly.

They looked at him in surprise. "A problem?" Monroe asked, slowly approaching him. "What…what kind of a problem?"

"You helped my mother figure out what Adalind had done to Nick, and how to fix it." Sean said slowly, wondering how to phrase his issue. Although he had become closer to them, hell, Monroe had presided over his wedding, he still didn't feel completely comfortable asking for their help

"Yeah. Good times."

"There was a book that Adalind used to cast the spell." Sean said, sliding his hands into his pockets.

Rosalee nodded. "Yes, we still have it."

"Ok, good. I was hoping you did."

"What's the problem?" Monroe asked in a slightly exaggerated whisper, obviously wanting Sean to get to the point.

"I'm not exactly sure but it appears to be related to what my mother did to save my life – some sort of…residual effect…from my visit to the other side."

Monroe and Rosalee briefly glanced at each other. "You mean, as in when you were dead?" Monroe asked slowly.

"Yeah." Sean answered. "I keep reliving the moment I was shot over and over again. And I wake up and I have blood all over me, and it's as though I've been shot again and I'm bleeding to death."

Rosalee sighed. "That does not sound good."

"And you're hoping the answer to this…is in the book?" Monroe asked.

Sean let out a breath. "I am."

Rosalee turned around, walking to one of the cabinets. Sean followed her. "Your mother shut the book." She said, opening a drawer and pulling the book out. "So, I'm hoping you can open it, because we can't. "

Sean took the book from her, trying to open it with no luck. He looked between Rosalee and Monroe. "How'd she open it?"

"Uh, with her blood. Big knife, right in the middle of her –" Monroe replied mimicking stabbing his hand before trailing off.

"She's your mother. Maybe your blood will work."

Sean shook his head. "No, if that kind of lock has been cast upon it, then only hexenbiest blood can open it." He informed them.

"Don't suppose she's coming back to town anytime soon."

"Not that I know of." Sean said as Monroe came to stand beside Rosalee.

"And I'm guessing that you don't want to bring Adalind in for help on this." Monroe correctly guessed.

"No. Not really."

"Well, know any other hexenbiest's?" Rosalee asked.

As a matter of fact, he did. Sean left not long after that. However, not before letting Monroe and Rosalee know that Lorelei was aware of what happened when they took Diana from Adalind, including what was done to her. Both looked a little worried.

"So, it doesn't appear to be medical. It could be supernatural?" Lorelei asked. It was later that evening, and the two were seated together on the couch after dinner. Olivia was upstairs, tucked up in bed while they discussed Sean's…problem.

Sean nodded. "That's why I got the book. I'm hoping there might be something in there that can help."

"But, you need a hexenbiest to open it?"

"Correct." Sean said as the doorbell rang. He looked at Lorelei. "Are you expecting anyone?"

Lorelei shook her head and Sean got up to check the security camera. "Oh, this can't be good."

"What?"

Sean glanced back at his wife. "It's Juliette." He told her before sighing and walking over to the door. "Yeah."

Juliette stepped passed him, walking into the house. "I slept in my car last night. I'm not doing that again. Hi Lorelei."

"Hey Juliette." Lorelei said, offering the older woman a smile.

Sean closed the door and followed her back to the living room. "All right – what do you mean?"

Juliette sighed. "What I mean is…I need a place to stay with somebody who…understands me."

"Oh, uh..." Sean said, hands going into his pockets as he glanced at Lorelei. She shrugged, indicating it was up to him. "Look, I'm not sure this is the best place for you."

Juliette looked upset at that. "No, I can't go home until I figure out what I am."

"Does Nick know where you are?" Sean asked her.

Juliette looked away for a moment before she sighed, crossing her arms. "No."

"You planning on telling him?"

"I don't know." She admitted.

Sean glanced at Lorelei before turning back to Juliette. "You realise that this puts me in a very awkward situation again."

"You wanna talk awkward. Listen, you have lived with this your whole life. You know what it's like. I need to know what I'm supposed to do, to deal with it."

Sean sighed. "Well, first off, you need to be more careful. Obviously, most people can't accept what we are." Sean told her, quickly giving Lorelei a look to let her know she was not most people. "Second, our reactions can be violent. Deadly even." He moved to the bar, pouring himself drink.

Juliette was not happy with that. "I mean, is there anything comforting in all of this?"

"Well, we do have abilities that defy explanation." He replied, glancing at her. "How you learn to use them will determine what you become." Sean moved to stand in front of her, drink in hand. "You're more than I'll ever be." Juliette stared at him. "The way this happened to you – you're one of a kind. Now, I don't know what that means, ultimately."

Juliette mulled over what he had told her before sitting down at the kitchen island. "So, what you're saying is that I'm just gonna have to wing it."

Sean nodded. "Don't we all."

A defeated look crossed Juliette. Sean felt empathy for her. He couldn't imagine what she was going through right now. What he did know, was that she was going to be unpredictable. It was the reason he was cautious about her staying with them. There was silence before Sean thought of something. The book, he needed it opened. Perhaps, there may even be something in there to help Juliette. "I do have a favour to ask you." He said, stepping closer to Juliette.

"What?" She asked, staring at the floor.

"I need you to open a book."

Sean, Juliette and Lorelei were standing around one end of the kitchen island. The book now sitting on it. Sean handed Juliette a knife. "All you have to do is just cut yourself and then drip the blood onto the book with this."

Juliette gave him a deadpanned look. "Really?" She asked. "All I have to do is cut myself and bleed for you."

"I've been doing a little bleeding of my own lately." Sean admitted to her.

Juliette glanced back at the book. "Why can't you do it again? Aren't you half Hexenbiest?"

"Why does everybody keeping making that mistake?" Sean asked in annoyance. The hand rubbing his back reminded him that not everybody made that mistake. "I am not a hexenbiest. I'm a zauberbiest, there's a difference."

Juliette rolled her eyes. "How much blood?"

"I don't know. Just enough to open the book, whatever that is."

Juliette glared at him. "Aren't you supposed to be helping me?"

"You got a place to stay, don't you?" Sean retorted.

"Enough. You both may get something out of this." Lorelei said, sounding annoyed at the both of them. She had been pretty silent since Juliette arrived but was obviously over their attitudes.

Sean and Juliette both glanced at her. Juliette sighed. "Fine." Juliette brought the knife to her palm, slowly cutting it as she winced in pain. As the blood began to flow, Juliette dropped along the closed pages of the book, causing it to open. Juliette looked up at Sean and Lorelei in surprise.

Sean pulled the book towards him, thanking Juliette, as she awkwardly held her hand.

"What is this book?" Juliette asked.

"It's the book that Adalind used to do what she did to you and Nick." Sean answered, glancing down at the book.

Juliette stepped close. "This I want to read."
