*Sean's POV*
Not long after Juliette had opened the book, Lorelei had headed off to bed citing exhaustion. He promised her he would be up soon. After directing Juliette on where she could sleep, Sean followed his wife to bed. She was fast asleep when he entered. He quickly changed into his pyjamas before climbing into bed beside his wife, spooning her from behind, holding her close as he quickly drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, they were rudely awakened by Juliette slamming the door open as she stormed in. "There's nothing in here." She said, dropping the book beside Sean.
Sean was struggling to comprehend what she was saying. "What?"
"For me or for you." Juliette said angrily, as Sean moved to sit up. "Now, where is your mother? She did this to me."
"Juliette, she said there was a possibility of some side effect, she didn't know this would happen to you." Sean reminded her, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Now please, you need to calm down."
"No, I'm done calming down." Juliette said loudly. "Ok. You and Nick and Adalind and all of this wesen insanity, I am so sick of it. Ok. I was normal before I met all of you. I want my life back. And if I don't get it…" She trailed off threatening.
Sean looked at her. "What?"
"You better watch out." And with that said, she stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
Sean heard Lorelei sigh behind him. "This is not good." She said quietly.
Sean turned around to face her, seeing the worry on her beautiful face. Sean sighed as well. "No. It's not."
Sean was apprehensive about leaving Lorelei and Olivia alone after what had happened with Juliette that morning. However, he did have to go to work. Lorelei assured him that they would be fine and if Juliette showed up, Lorelei would take Olivia and leave. So, Sean had gone to work but was checking in with Lorelei every hour. Just to make sure they were alright.
Sean stayed at work a little later, as Damerov had notified him he was on his way. Sean desperately wanted to get home to his family, but knew it was important to meet with Damerov. When Sean saw him walking towards his office, he hurried to the door to let him in. "Prince Viktor has been sent back to Vienna." Damerov told him before Sean had even had the chance to finish closing the door.
Sean looked at him in surprise. "What?"
"I just found out myself."
Sean walked towards his desk. "My father must have grown impatient with him." Sean commented. He looked back at Damerov. "Is Viktor dead?"
Damerov sighed. "I don't know."
"What about Adalind?"
"Haven't heard anything about her."
"Who's replacing Viktor?"
"I don't think anybody knows. At least, they're not telling me." Damerov replied. This wasn't good. How could Sean expect to stay ahead of them if his mole was kept in the dark? "They didn't get rid of Viktor because he's moving too fast. They want Kelly Burkhardt and that child. And if you want me to go back there, you got to give me something to show them."
Sean nodded. "Yeah. I've got it ready." Sean told him, picking a file up off his desk. He handed it to Damerov. "Give them this. It'll look like you're making progress."
Damerov raised an eyebrow. "Any of it true?"
"Enough to make it plausible."
Damerov nodded before exiting. Sean sighed. He had no idea who could be sent to take Viktor's place. He considered a couple of people he knew of; however he would have to wait and see.
As Sean walked into the living room, he let out a sigh of relief. He'd been unable to reach Lorelei and rushed home, concerned Juliette may have done something. Instead, he found his wife sound asleep on the couch, tv on low. After removing his jacket and tie, placing them on one of the chairs, he moved over to his wife. Sitting down on the edge of the sofa, he reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair out of her face before allowing the back of his hand to gentle stroke her cheek. God, he loved her so much. What did he do to deserve her?
Lorelei's eyes started to flicker open. As they met his, a smile slow crossed her face. "Hi." She said, her voice thick from sleep.
Sean smiled. "Hi."
Lorelei sat up. "What time is it?" She asked, rubbing her eyes.
"Just past eight." He replied before cupping her face in his hands and kissing her deeply.
Lorelei's arms went to his neck, and she returned the kiss, sighing softly. She pulled back, resting her forehead against his. "Have you eaten?"
Sean nodded. "I had something earlier. Have you?"
"Yeah. I had a late lunch. I was going to have a quick power nap after I put Liv down for the night, but I slept through the alarm I set."
"You must have needed the sleep." Sean commented and Lorelei nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. I guess."
"Come on, let's get you to bed." Sean told her, scooping her into his arms bridal style.
Lorelei laughed. "Sean, I can walk."
Sean smiled at her. "I know you can. I just want you in my arms for as long as possible."
Lorelei rested her head against his shoulder. "I guess I can't argue with that logic."
As he reached their room, he gently set his wife down on the bed. "Did you see Juliette today?"
Lorelei shook her head as she got up and grabbed her pyjamas. "No. She didn't come back. And I didn't try calling her. Figured she wouldn't have been interested in anything I have to say anyway."
The two continued getting ready for bed. As they did, Sean filled her in on what he had found out from Damerov. "Another Royal? That doesn't seem like a good sign."
It really hadn't been a good sign, Sean later learned after meeting Viktor's replacement. Sean dragged himself home to lick his wounds. Sean was grateful Lorelei wasn't home when he arrived. She had called to let him know that she had taken Olivia to have dinner with Bud, Phoebe and the kids. It would give him the chance to clean up a bit, but Sean knew he wouldn't be able to hide his wounds from her. Entering their bedroom, he dropped his keys, wallet and phone on the dresser.
"Where's Adalind?"
Sean spun around, surprised to find Juliette standing by the window. "How'd you get in here?"
"You gave me a key remember?"
"I want it back." Sean told her.
"What happened to you?" Juliette asked as she removed the key from her pocket and threw it to him.
He caught it, watching her warily. "I met the new Prince in town."
"Is Adalind with him?"
"Why?"
"I'm gonna kill her."
Sean looked at her. "Good, yeah. She's at the Deluxe Hotel." Sean said walking towards her. "Careful, though. Kenneth is not Viktor."
"Apparently." Juliette commented as she started unbuttoning her shirt.
Sean stared at her. "What are you doing?"
"Finishing what we started." She replied as she finished removing her shirt. Sean was frozen. What the hell was happening? This wasn't happening. He stared at her in shock as she stepped towards his. "Does this hurt?" She asked, pressing her finger against his cut lip.
Sean hissed in pain, grabbing her wrist and forcing it away from him. "Yeah." He told her, letting go of her wrist and taking a step back.
"Then so will this." She said, grabbing his face in her hands and kissing him.
Acting fast, Sean grabbed her shoulders and pushed her away from him. "You cannot be serious. Put your shirt back on and get the hell out of here."
Juliette laughed. "Oh, come on Sean. You know you want to."
"I don't. I don't want anyone besides Lorelei."
Juliette smirked. "You didn't have any problem last year."
Sean glared at her. "We were under the influence of a spell. Anything we felt was because of that."
"What was your excuse when you fucked Adalind?"
Sean growled. "That was a mistake. One I will not be repeating."
"Oh, come on Sean. You've got Lorelei trapped. Married with a baby…and I have a feeling there will be another soon. She is so desperately in love with you. She's not going anywhere. So, why not have some fun." Juliette stepped towards him again.
"Get. Out."
Juliette pouted. "Fine. I'm not Adalind. I don't need to force myself onto a man." Juliette picked up her shirt and walked towards the door. "But if you change your mind. Give me a call."
And with that, she was gone. Sean sunk down onto the bed, head in his hands. He couldn't believe that had happened. Had Juliette really sunk so far, so fast? She adored Lorelei. How could she do that to her? Lorelei. He had to speak to her, in case Juliette decided to spin a story. Wincing as he stood up quickly and grabbed his phone. God, Sean hoped Lorelei would believe him.
"Hey."
"Lorelei, where are you?"
"Uh, about 10 minutes. Why? Is everything ok?"
Sean swallowed hard. "No. I…I…Juliette was here."
"Did she hurt you?" Lorelei asked sounding concerned.
"No. She…she…" Sean could feel the panic rising and he started pacing the room. She had to believe him.
"Sean, stop. Take a breath. What did she do?"
Sean took a deep breath and let it slowly. "She kissed me." He got out. There was silence. "Please, you have to believe me. I didn't want it. I pushed her away. I told her to leave."
"Sean. It's ok. I believe you."
Sean sunk back down on the bed in relief. She believed him. She believed him. He wasn't going to lose her. "Thank you. Thank you."
"We'll be home soon. I love you."
"I love you."
Despite the physical pain he was in, Sean almost flew down the stairs when he saw Lorelei's car pull up in the driveway. Despite her reassurance, he was still afraid she had changed her mind in the 10 minutes since they spoke. What if Juliette had called her and spun her own story? Who would she believe?
Lorelei was getting Olivia out of her car seat when Sean opened the door. As Lorelei closed the door, Sean strode towards her. The light from the security light revealing his injuries from his fight with Kenneth. Lorelei's eyes widened. "I thought you said she didn't hurt you."
Sean shook his head. "This wasn't Juliette." He said, wrapping his arms around his wife and daughter.
"Come on. Let's get Olivia in bed and get you cleaned up."
Once Olivia was safely in her bed, Lorelei led Sean to their bedroom and had him sit on the bed while she grabbed the first aid kit from the bathroom. Sean sat fidgeting, his eyes not leaving her as she returned and came to stand in front of him, setting the first aid kit on the bed beside him. Lorelei gently took his chin and inspected his face, her expression tender. "Sean, what happened tonight?"
Sean swallowed thickly. "When I got home Juliette was here. She wanted to know where Adalind was. She wants to kill her." Lorelei nodded, before bending over to open the first aid kit. "Then she started taking her shirt off. I asked what she was doing, and she said she was finishing what we started. I couldn't believe what she was doing. She touched my lip, hard, asking if it hurt. And…and then she kissed me. I shoved her away, Lorelei I swear. I didn't kiss her back. I told her to get out. She laughed." Sean shook his head. He still couldn't believe how far Juliette had already fallen. "Said I wanted to do it last year. I reminded her about the spell and she asked what my excuse with Adalind was." Sean felt anger arise when he remembered what Juliette had said next. "She said that I've got you trapped." Lorelei raised an eyebrow. "She insinuated I could cheat on you again and you wouldn't leave me, so I might as well have some fun." Sean shook his head again. "The way she spoke about you. I couldn't believe it."
"I know she's angry and hurt, but I didn't realise she would be burning bridges so soon." Lorelei said softly, her expression pained.
Sean wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close, burying his head in her stomach. "Please. You have to believe me. She only kissed me. I didn't kiss her back. Nothing else happened. Please, please don't leave me."
Sean felt Lorelei's arms gently wrap around him, one hand coming to caress the back of his head. "I believe you Sean." Lorelei whispered, gently kissing the top of his head. "But seriously, who beat the crap out of you?"
Sean pulled back and looked up at her. "You believe me?" He asked quietly. He needed to hear it one more time.
Lorelei nodded, her hand gently cupping his uninjured cheek, gently brushing away the tears he hadn't realised were falling. "I do."
Sean let out a sigh of relief, burying his face back into her stomach for a couple of minutes. Eventually he pulled away and allowed Lorelei to start cleaning him up. "I'm going to have use the alcohol wipes to disinfect you lip and your cheek." She told him, pulling a couple out of the kit and opening one. She took his chin in her grasp again. "I'll start with your lip. I'm sorry, but it will probably hurt."
"It's ok." He replied, his eyes never leaving her face. His hands tightly gripping her hips, as though afraid she would disappear before his eyes.
Lorelei tentatively touched the alcohol wipe to his lip, and he hissed in pain. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She said, pressing a gentle kiss to the uninjured side of his mouth. "One more time and I think we'll be right for the lip.
Sean flinched again when she dabbed at his lip. He received another kiss. Sean closed his eyes, feeling the tension leave his body. After finishing his face, Lorelei helped him remove his shirt and crouched down in front of him to check his ribs. As she did so, he explained what happened prior to arriving home. The call from Damerov, finding him dead, his interaction with Kenneth. "This guy seems more…hands on then Viktor." Lorelei commented. She sighed. "I don't think your ribs are broken, but I'm in public health not medicine, so I'm not sure. Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital?"
Sean shook his head. "I'll be fine. I heal fast, remember."
"Please at least take tomorrow off work. You need to rest."
"I will."
After a quick shower to clean the blood off, Sean followed his wife back to bed. Lorelei pulled the covers down and climbed in, reclining back against the pillows, in a half-seated half lying position. Sean eased himself onto the bed and laid down, sliding his arm under Lorelei's lower back and letting his head rest on her stomach. "Rest now mon amour. I'm not going anywhere."
